Magic Makes the Man

  “Your watch.” She whispered.

It struck him as odd, throwing off the rhythm of his strokes. Peg was still on her back because he couldn’t bear to give up those eyes staring longingly at him, but now that those delicious hindquarters of hers were on a pillow, he had perfect access to the tight embrace of her ass.

“What about my watch?” He asked. It had been a gift from his grandfather, but the old man had never had a connection with him. He only wore it because he’d crafted a much better and far more poignant tale of the old watch’s history.

“I love it.” She whispered. “Put me in your will to get that if you ever die. It’s gorgeous.”

Amos had never looked at it that way but he was far too distracted with the grip her ass had on his cock as he rode it in and out of her body. “It’s yours.” He whispered, feeling his urge to fill the beautiful blonde’s final hole arriving as he picked up the pace. He leaned into her a bit more, causing their bodies to slap together loudly, each smacking sound followed by a grunt from Peg’s sweet gaze.

“Just…if you die.” Peg sighed, pouting her lips.

The third jarring pain pulled a veil of gray up over Amos’s vision, growing successively darker as he felt rivers of cum pouring into her gripping bowels. Her skin was the first to go long before the pink of her dress and the mahogany brown of her eyes. The white of her smile was the very last thing Amos Ledbetter saw before everything went black.

He heard a chuckle. It was the last thing.

Chase rubbed her own clit until the orgasm washed over her. It had been a while since she had last been with a man and for a mortal, Amos had done himself proud. She smiled outwardly at the southern twang that had accompanied her internal thoughts. She felt the recent passage of his nice cock in her ass, feeling the muscle retightening after the stretching he had given it.

“Thanks, Amos.” She whispered, leaning down to kiss him on the forehead as she slid the silver watchband over his wrist and onto her own. If he had bothered to listen to his grandfather, he would have known its power and wouldn’t have been a D-list bureaucrat only summoned to Washington to prove someone’s point.

Even Chase wasn’t positive what it did. The fact that The Chain wanted it told her everything she needed to know. This one would have to make her so much closer to the reward they had promised her.

She pulled down the dress, looking into the mirror as she adjusted it, jutting her ass out and smiling as if she was already on the prowl again. You didn’t even bother to take the dress off, did you, Amos? The thought made her shake her head with a little sass.

“You did well, young man.” She whispered, slipping quickly to the room’s locked door.

  Chapter Two

Normal life was pretty much behind him, he realized, staring down over the mountain range that seemed to stretch all the way to the horizon. The palace Cinder had set him them up with was the best place to protect the ones he loved, including the pesky little Jinn, Firefly.

He no longer wanted to be deceptive about things in any way. The moment Remy LaTrobe had broken down and cried at the possibility of staying with the two of them he had told her, only able to dispel her wide-eyed disbelief as they whisked away lord knows how far to this mountaintop retreat. He didn’t blame her. One moment she was admitting to them, and herself, that she was madly in love with both him and Gillian, then next she was being told that magic had brought them together and that Steve was the master of a Jinn, of all things.

Both girls lay sleeping ten yards behind him, the first morning rays of the sun steaming in not waking them like they had him. Steve’s years in the Army had colored his sleep schedule; it was rare a day would pass that he didn’t wake up with the first light, whether or not he could see it. This was what he was looking to avoid by not overusing the powers Firefly offered him. Life had been completely turned on end and his education was on a sudden, permanent hold. Glancing back at the warm and peaceful beauties in his bed did take away the lion’s share of the sting of it. Without the Jinn, he never would have had her.

  “What did I miss?”

The voice was a whisper but it startled him as much as a yell. He turned around to see Firefly leaning over the bed, looking down into Remy LaTrobe’s sleep-calmed face.

“Firefly.” He said, giving the single word as much exclamation as he could while keeping his voice low. He started towards her and she met him more than halfway, jumping into his arms and wrapping those shapely legs around his back as she embraced him. The grip finally subsided and they hovered for a long moment, faces inches apart as their eyes met. The awkwardness of it seemed to hit both of them at the same time and the little Jinn slipped to the floor.

“Are you…okay?” He asked, while the main question running in his mind was more closely aligned with the moment that had just passed between them.

She smiled. “No worries. Crystal’s good with this sort of thing. I’m sure it was a lot of dangling the rubber chicken over a fire and chanting a bunch of gobbledy-gook. I don’t remember a thing after that guy came in through the door. I see the redhead is alright, though.”

“Did Crystal tell you about what Cinder did?”

Firefly shrugged. “Yeah, she’s a kid. So, who’s the brunette?”

“Remy LaTrobe.” Steve said. “She sort of…”

“So, you’re accepting wishes from Cinder and not from me, are you?” Firefly said, crossing her arms at her chest and putting on a little pout. The stars that constantly seemed to play on her cute face seemed particularly sparkly.

Steve wanted to roll his eyes but he was happier to see the little Jinn than he ever would have suspected. “That’s more of a Cinder and Gillian thing.”

“If she loves you, it’s because she would have loved you anyway. You know that, right?” Firefly whispered.

The Jinn had captured his emotions perfectly about a subject he still wavered on. She’d explained her and her sisters’ magic to him a dozen times but it was something he’d never really come to accept. He nodded. It was the best he could do.

“So, what now?” He asked. “Do I just hide out here away from whatever this Chain is for the rest of my life?”

Firefly laughed. “They’re not after you, they’re after me and my sisters, if I’m getting it right. “All you’ve got to do to protect what you’ve build here.” She said, gesturing to the girls who were starting to show signs of stirring. “Is relinquish control over me.”

As well as she knew him, Steve knew the tone in her voice despite her attempt to disguise it. Letting her go would break his heart.

  Chapter Three

Chase nodded at Scarret as she ascended the dais to hand her trophy over to the Templar. She was not nearly as powerful as he had become over his centuries of feeding on mortals, but she had proved herself to be an effective tool for the Chain. His face was calm and cool though the thought of the true emotions running in his brain came to her like a direct message. She liked his new look, though. It was rugged and handsome; better than some he had picked over the decades that she had known him.

“As requested.” She said in an informal tone, sliding the stretchy metallic band back over her wrist and offering it to the woman in front of her.

She was old and wrinkled but Chase knew that her wizened appearance was just for show. She could be anything she wanted to be and her powers seemed to know no end. After leaving this ceremony she would probably transform herself into a pretty young thing, though Chase knew she was frustrated that the powers of her and her counterpart eluded her. She had access to her and Scarret’s powers, but only at their bidding and she wanted more.

The woman already had thousands of magical artifacts that bolstered her power yet Chase saw no reason why she held as much power over her minions as she did.

The rewards. That’s the reason, Chase, she told herself. She has something for every one of these poor souls.

“Chase, you astound me every time.” The woman sighed, looking at the watch
before sliding it over her own wrist. “And you look stunning, as ever.”

Chase gave a slight curtsey, not having any words in response. It was the same body and dress she had used to trap the previous owner of the watch. Part of its magic was that she couldn’t take it from him; its ownership could only be transferred willingly. She had liked him. She found she liked most of them, which was the reason why the old crone’s reward meant so much to her.

“You may be curious as to the status of your prize.” The crone said, smiling wickedly. “And since you’re too polite to ask, I’ll tell you.”

Chase felt herself tense a bit at the words and hoped that it didn’t show. She was keenly aware of the way her nipples were rising to peaks in the chill air, knowing they were sharply visible against the tight fabric.

“I have one more mission for you. If you succeed, the reward will be yours and you will have all that your heart desires.”

She felt the hit of disappointment but she felt bolstered by the promise. The old crone always delivered. It was part of the reason she maintained the fealty of those around her. One more mission.

“This.” She said, conjuring an image in the air with her hands. The light of it caused many in the chamber to shield their eyes with their arms but Chase did no such thing. If this was her mission, she didn’t want to miss a detail.

The image hovering in the air was of a small, blue-haired Jinn with light sparkling on her smiling face. She made a funny face and winked out of existence, bringing down the whole conjuring and putting the room back into its former relative darkness.

“Bring me this Jinn.” The old crone said, and Chase knew she had been dismissed. She backed down the stairs to the main floor before turning and starting her next, and hopefully last, mission.

Scarret took a deep breath. The young succubus would do anything to have a man and he knew the damage she could do. So far, he’d been able to protect the little Jinn and her master from the Chain’s machinations, but he wasn’t sure how he would succeed now that Chase was tasked with it. He was far more powerful than she, but any attempt to hinder her would show his hand and he wasn’t nearly prepared for that.

A buzz lit up in his mind and he looked at it.

Fucking Desmond Loyale, he thought. The mortal was really getting on his nerves, but the crone herself had tasked him with supporting the little monster. Those around him probably weren’t surprised when he disappeared in a small cloud of acrid, gray smoke.

“I need your powers, Scarret.” Desmond said, smirking over at him as he rematerialized in a coffee shop, unworried that anyone would notice. It’s certainly nice that mortals generally train themselves to no see things that are out of the ordinary, he thought.

A quick glance one direction informed Scarret of what Loyale wanted from him. The cute waitress delivering drinks to a table a few down from them couldn’t have been a more than eighteen.

“Does this get you closer to tracking down the Jinn?”

Desmond looked at him, anger quickly searing his face. “Your job is to provide the powers. I provide the planning.” Desmond said, the anger seeping into his voice.

The man was out of control and Scarret knew it. Problem was, his own compact with the crone had to be the deciding line. While he could attempt to steer things towards his own agenda, he couldn’t deny the man’s legitimate request. Scarret knew he was just out to defile the pretty young thing a little bit but there wasn’t a clear reason not to allow it.

“It’s done.” Scarret announced, feeling the tug as some of his power fed into Desmond. “And by the way, I just wanted to let you know that Chase is now searching for this Jinn as well. Seems like the crone isn’t too happy that you haven’t brought her in yet.”

He saw the look in Desmond Loyale’s eyes but the little monster’s face didn’t show it otherwise. A bit of a grit to the teeth when he responded, though.

“I’ve got a plan.” He whispered, but as he looked up, the Incubus was already gone.

  Chapter Four

“It’s just about the magic, right?” Firefly asked as they appeared amongst about a dozen high-end recreational vehicles parked on a field where constant foot traffic had already done a number on the grass.

Steve didn’t even bother to really look around, choosing to focus on his conversation with the Jinn. “No. I mean, yeah, but it’s more complicated than that. I don’t want the power that you can offer to change who I am.”

Firefly smiled. “It’s already changed who you are, silly.” She said. “You’re still a good guy in my book.”

A few people walked past where they stood in the center of everything but they were jaded enough not to notice the broad-shouldered ex-military guy and the petite girl with blue hair and a sparkly complexion.

“It’s not about being a good guy.” He said, but changed his tone based on her look. “Well, it is, but I just don’t want to be that guy.”

Firefly picked up on the fact that he was alluding to the man that had kidnapped her and Gillian. As far as she had learned so far, he was an agent of the Chain and that wasn’t good for her and her sisters.

“You’re never going to be that guy.” Firefly whispered. “I don’t think you have it in you. Hell, even this was like pulling teeth.”

This, being the impromptu journey Steve had ‘wished’ for at Firefly’s prompting. She’d been longing to truly grant him one without fudging at the edges of the rules and he had finally relented. He was going to have to get used to magic for magic’s sake. If those that wielded it were a threat to the ones he loved, he was going to have to learn to use it himself. Despite his consternation about trying something simpler, Gillian and Remy had laughingly provided the framework for the wish Firefly was in the middle of granting him.

“I’m going to jet Steve.” Firefly said. “Just relax and go with the flow.”

Steve was just about to respond to the Jinn’s trite comment when she winked out like an old-school tube television powering down, leaving only a blue spot of light that finally shrank to nothingness.

“Great.” He said, circling and getting his bearings. This wish was supposed to be about him meeting one of his favorite actresses, Diana Prentiss. He had fantasized about her since he was a teenager. She was a good ten years older than him but her beauty was timeless. He’d followed her close enough that he felt he knew her, but nothing prepared him for the tap on his shoulder.

“God, I’m so glad you’re finally here, Baby.”

Steve turned and was face to face with the blue-eyed beauty. Somehow she had managed to become even more gorgeous since he had met her at an appearance some ten years ago, right before he had shipped out to basic training. She had thanked him for his service and given him a kiss that still burned on his cheek in his memory. This time, however, those pale pink lips landed on his as her fingers spread out, dipping under his shirt to trace the outline of his abs.

Diana broke the kiss, looking up into his dumbstruck face. “Let’s take this back to my trailer. I want to show you all the ways that I missed you.”

Missed me? Steve couldn’t help do anything but follow the older woman as she led him quickly to the far end of the little enclosure to one of the nicest rigs on the lot.

“This is me?” She said. “The studio paying me back for that fiasco last time.”

Diana swished her skirt at him as she climbed the two steps into the air-conditioned rig and Steve started to have second thoughts.

  Everything froze.

“Just checking in on you.” Firefly whispered in his ear. She and he were the only things moving that he could see. Diana Prentiss was frozen in mid-tease, her short skirt only covering the top portion of her shapely ass. “You seem to be having some reservations.”

Steve was speechless for a second. “Are you watching the whole thing?”

“Unless you tell me to stop.” Firefly laughed. “You made the wish and it’s my job to make sure all the details are worked out. Magic isn’t particul
arly easy, you know.”

“I think I’d like that.” Steve answered.

“Suits you.” She said. “I’m not responsible for how things turn out, then. I could just tell you were balking.”

“She remembers me.” Steve said. “We’ve never met. It just seems like too much manip…”

  Firefly interrupted him. “You’ve met.”

Steve looked down at her. “One time at a party doesn’t count, Firefly.”

“Magic.” The Jinn smiled. “And some good magic if I don’t mind saying so myself. A little bit of merging timelines here and finding the right pieces to fit…”

  “Merging timelines?”

“Yep.” Firefly grinned. “That day you met her at her appearance? You were far too shy to really talk to her other than some grunts.”
