“I think I already know. A day will come when neither of us have a choice about you using your magic on me, but I'm not ready to become the White Rose just yet, and you have someone special to marry,” I said.
“You know about the White Rose?” he asked.
“Of course I do what's the name of Captain Waters recon unit? That should tell you,” I said.
“Just how powerful of a witch are you Samantha Waters?” he asked.
“Do you trust me Chris?” I asked.
“Do I have a choice?” he asked back.
“There's always a choice. So what's yours?” I asked.
“Yes. I know I shouldn't since you're a witch. In fact everything inside me says I can't trust you, but yes, I do trust you,” he said.
“You're smart to trust me Chris. I can promise you'll always have the protection of the White Rose taking care of you, and among the White Rose witches none will ever try to harm you for fear of the White Rose herself,” I said.
“And you can give that assurance how?” he asked.
“Because I am the White Rose, or I guess I should say I will be the White Rose when your magic mixes with my magic and becomes one magic,” I said.
He gave me a look that said he wasn't sure he trusted me, even though he wanted to.
“Hello Irene your fiancée was just telling me how much he's looking forward to your up coming wedding. He was hoping I could tell him where you could get your nails done the way mine are. I don't think he liked my answer though. Have a great day,” I said.
It was time to get out of there and back to Kathy's. As I walked away I could hear Chris trying to explain that he was just been trying to find out about my fingernails since he had never seen anything quite like them before.
I waited out on the curb for the cab to show and noticed a car dealer across the street. I hated that I was reliant on someone else for transportation, and if I bought a car someone else could use it when I wasn't here, if they promised to take care of it. I didn't know whether or not Kathy and Brent had two cars or just the one Kathy used to pick me up and bring me shopping in. I had noticed that mom, dad, Sarah and Jeff were all dependent on one car, if nothing else I was sure Sarah would love having a car she could use anytime she wanted to go somewhere.
I got tired of waiting and figured I could see from the dealer if and when the cab did show, so walked over to the car lot and started looking at what they had in used cars.
I saw a couple different cars I liked and wanted to find out more about them and saw one of the salesmen walking toward me. Everything in me went on alert in regard to this man and the world stopped and a likely scenario started playing through my head.
