Megan’s breath hitched. My whole focus stayed on her.

Judge Wilson began to speak, drawing our attention back to her. “Megan and Jackson, you’ve professed your love for one another.” She turned to face Megan. “Megan, do you take Jackson Hadden to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold until death do you part?”

Megan’s gaze came back to me, the most angelic smile dawning on her lips. “I do.”

  “And, Jackson?”

I looked back at the judge.

“Do you take Megan Randall to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, until death do you part?”

  “I do.”

The judge turned to Reagan. “Do you have the rings?”

Reagan reached into his breast pocket and produced two simple platinum bands. He dropped the smaller one in my hand, then turned to Megan, handing her the larger one.

“Now, let’s bind your commitment with the exchanging of rings. Megan, repeat after me.” I held up my left hand and Megan placed the ring at the tip of my finger. “Jackson, I give you this ring as a token of my love and affection. With this ring, I thee wed.”

Megan repeated the words and slipped the ring onto my finger. The weight of it there felt strange, but exactly what I wanted.

“Jackson, do you need me to repeat the words?”

“No, ma’am.” I took Megan’s left hand in mine, holding the ring as she had. “Megan, I give you this ring as a sign of my love and affection. With this ring, I thee wed.” I slipped the ring on her finger and had to do everything in my power to keep from pumping my fist in the air and jumping with joy.

The judge looked back and forth between us. “By the power vested in me by the state of California, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” A smile pulled at the corner of her lips. “You may kiss the bride.”

I sank my hand into Megan’s hair, bringing her forward, taking her lips in a kiss I would remember my entire life.

Passionate, but not erotic. I finally had the chance to hold her in my arms as my wife. When I pulled back, I laid my forehead on hers.

  “We did it,” she whispered.

  “We did.”

Sniffles reached my ears and I moved back to make sure it wasn’t Megan. Her eyes sparkled like the diamond on her finger. I glanced over my shoulder to see Reagan’s friend, Chloe, with tears in her eyes.

“Don’t mind me.” Chloe waved me off. “I’m a sucker for weddings.”

Reagan wrapped his arm around her and laughed. “Yes, you are.”

“I’m sure the two of you would like to get out of here,” Judge Wilson said.

I moved to face her, keeping Megan in my arms. “We would.”

“We just need these two to sign off as your witnesses and you’re all done.”

Reagan reached inside his suit pocket, producing a pen as he and Chloe walked over to the judge’s desk. After they both scribbled their names on the paper, the judge signed it.

“I’ll have my clerk process this as quickly as possible and have it filed.”

“Thank you, your honor.” Megan beamed.

We said our goodbyes and I led Megan out of the courthouse, back to her car. Once we were both seated inside, I entwined our fingers and glanced over at her. “Let’s go have our wedding night.”

  “That sounds perfect.”

The drive home happened in a blur as I did my best to keep my errant cock under control. Something about the fact I could now call Megan my wife made me want to pull the car over and take advantage on the side of the road. Only self-preservation kept my ass firmly planted in the car and behind the steering wheel. I had no desire to see my bare ass all over the Internet. It was bad enough we’d had to put our rings back into my pocket so no one else would see them.

We made it into the garage and up to the apartment before the enormity of what we’d just done hit me. Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out both sets of rings.

  “Give me your hand.”

She lifted her left and exactly like I’d done at the courthouse, I slipped the ring down her finger.

“My turn.” She took the larger band from me and did the same.

“I hated not seeing this on your finger.” I brushed my thumb over the metal that would now be a part of her for the rest of her life.

  “I felt the same way.”

I had an idea on how we’d fix that, but it could wait until later. I wanted something a whole lot more than to talk about wedding rings.

Resting my hands on Megan’s hips, I bent my head and teased the lobe of her ear, making her moan deep in the back of her throat. It was her second favorite spot to be kissed, only to be surpassed by the base of her neck. I moved my lips to her ear.

“As sexy as you look in this dress, I think it’ll look even better pooled in a pile on the floor of our bedroom.

A flush raced up her face as she stepped out of my embrace and walked backward toward the bedroom. Exactly where we both wanted to be. She stopped in the doorway and reached behind her. The sound of a zipper opening hit my ears, making my dick harder than it had been before. Seconds later the dress hit the floor. Megan moved out of my line of sight.

Curious and aroused, I walked toward the bedroom to find Megan lying on the side of the bed in lacy white underwear that was almost completely see-through. Her nipples were hard beneath the fabric.

As I walked toward the bed, I tugged at the tie around my neck, loosening it and throwing it over my shoulder. I shrugged out of the jacket and tossed it on the chair in the corner. After I popped the first button on the shirt I realized it would take too long, especially with my dick likely getting zipper marks. I tugged at the material, letting the buttons fly across the room.

I didn’t know it was possible, but Megan’s eyes grew even darker. The last thing between us were my pants, but for some reason I wasn’t exactly ready to get rid of them yet. I reached the side of the bed and slipped my hand down to brush my finger over the tight little bud.

“This is some sexy fucking underwear.”

“I thought you might like it. Want to see the back?”

  “Mmm…I’d like nothing more.”

Megan rolled to her stomach, her feet dangling off the bed. I ran my eyes over every inch of creamy skin. The lacy thong left her ass on perfect display. I dropped to my knees behind her and trailed my finger along the seam. Megan wasted no time spreading her legs wider, giving me better access, which I wasn’t afraid to take advantage of.

Looping my finger through the fabric, I lifted it to the side and slipped a finger inside. Megan pushed back on it a few times before I replaced that finger with my tongue, running it up to her clit and back down again. Megan’s knuckles turned white as she fisted them in the sheets.

Each time I circled my tongue around her clit without touching it, a whimper would leave her lips. Her head moved fitfully back and forth, my own shaft begging for release.

  “Jackson, please,” she begged.

This time, I ran my tongue over her clit before sucking it into my mouth. She screamed, coming on a rush. I didn’t waste any time jumping to my feet and dumping the rest of my clothes. Taking hold of Megan’s hips, I pulled her back until her feet touched the floor. Holding the thong to the side, I used my other hand to hold my cock and running it through her core before pushing inside in one deep, powerful thrust.

She rocked back against me. “Yes,” she breathed.

I let go of her panties and ran my hand up her arms until I could link my fingers with hers. “Hold on, baby.”

Holding tight to her hands, I set a hard, fast pace, thrusting into her over and over again. Feeling the way her body gripped mine as she climbed closer and closer to another climax. The familiar tingling at the base of my spine started and I knew it wouldn’t be long before I reached the peak.

I bent my head, taking her lips as we both erupted. I swallowed her screams. As we both started to come down, I helped her onto the bed and followed her down.

I have nothing left,” I said into the darkening room, the earlier sun beginning to set.

“I hope not. It’s our wedding night. I hope you have more in you than that.”

  Our wedding night.

Words that had an amazing sound to them.

“Guess I’ll have to find the strength then. Especially since it’s already off to a pretty great start.”

“I thought you might like my idea.”

  “Oh, I definitely liked it.”

The sunlight reflected off Megan’s wedding band, which reminded me of what I had for her. I pushed up off the bed.

  “Where are you going?”

“I have a surprise for you.”

  “A surprise?”

I tugged on my boxers. “Yes, a surprise. I’ll be right back.”

My first stop was the kitchen to pop the champagne we’d bought for tonight. I set it on the counter with two glass before heading to the closet in the hall. From inside my jacket pocket, I pulled out the two long, thin boxes I’d gotten the day I picked up the rest of the rings. I placed them under my arm then went back to the kitchen for the champagne and glasses.

I brought it all back to the bedroom. Setting the bottle and glasses on the dresser, I took the long boxes from under my arm and handed one to Megan.

  “What’s this?”

I smirked. “Open it and find out.”

Megan pulled off the silver paper to reveal a long white box. She took the lid off only to find another long blue box. This time when she lifted the lid she found a platinum chain on a bed of white satin. Megan lifted the necklace from its box.

  “It’s beautiful, but I don’t understand.”

I took the chain from her hands and redid the clasp behind her neck. “I got two of these, one for each of us to put our rings on when we can’t wear them. This way we’ll always have them with us.”

Megan threw her arms around my neck. “I love that idea.”

“I’m glad. I couldn’t think of another way without you leaving your rings at home and I absolutely hated that idea.”

“I really didn’t want to leave them home and I kept thinking of a way not to.” She fingered the chain on her neck. “And now I don’t have to.”

I stood back up and reached for the bottle of champagne. A loud pop filled the room as I removed the cork and proceeded to pour two glasses. I set the bottle back on the dresser and handed Megan one of the glasses.

“To my heart and soul. I could never imagine any other person becoming my wife. You have always and will always be the only woman for me.” I lifted my glass to hers and we both took a sip.

“To my husband. Wow, I really love saying that. I will love you for the rest of my life and no matter what happens I’m here to stay.” We tapped our glasses together again, this time draining them.

I put the glasses on the side table and turned back to find Megan undoing her bra strap. “I take it you don’t want to watch TV.”

She crooked a finger at me. “No, I think it’s my turn to be on top.”

“I think you might be right.”

And if it made her happy, she could be on top every night.

The loud beeping of the alarm echoed through the room like a fire detector in the middle of the night. Loud enough to wake the dead, if I’d actually managed to get an ounce of sleep. Instead, I’d memorized every part of my bedroom. The last sixty days seemed to pass in the blink of an eye.

“Did you sleep at all?” Megan’s voice was clear and alert like she’d been awake for hours.

I turned my head on the pillow, trying to ingrain in my mind what it was like to have her next to me every night, for the cold nights ahead.

  “No.”

  Her eyes widened. “None?”

“Nope. I’ve been awake since we came to bed.”

Megan rolled to her side and ran her fingers lightly up and down my chest. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

I captured her hand and brought it to my lips, kissing each one of her fingers. “Because you needed your sleep.”

“I pretended to be asleep most of the night so I wouldn’t wake you.”

I tugged on her hand until she lay on top of me. “I guess neither of us could clear our minds enough to sleep.”

Even in the muted light from the lamp on the table I could see her eyes beginning to shimmer. “I don’t want to leave you.”

“I don’t want you to leave me either, but I don’t think we have a choice.”

“I know.” She sighed. “But with my luck, some groupie on the road will try and take what’s mine.

I sank my hand into her hair and drew her mouth closer. “No groupie or anyone else is going to take you away from me again.”

A fire lit in her eyes and I pressed my lips to hers. Slipping my tongue in her mouth, I savored the last taste I’d have of her for the next six months. One kiss morphed into many, me staking my claim on her. It wasn’t until the alarm went off again that we broke the connection.

  “I have to go.”

I ran my hand down from her temple to her lips. “I know.”

Megan stood from the bed, heading directly for the bathroom. The sound of the shower running hit my ears and I forced myself from beneath the sheets. Tugging on a loose pair of sweats, I padded out to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee. With how little sleep we got, we’d both need it to get through the day, especially since she still had to drive to base.

Bottles and cans still littered the tables and counter from Megan’s going away party last night. The mess was nothing compared to the sight of all her bags packed and ready to go by the door.

The boulder that had settled in my stomach made me slightly nauseous. Our upcoming tour hadn’t even made me blink. No matter where we were I could fly home to see her or fly her out to us if she had time off. This was different. Neither of us had a say in when she would get to come back. A timeframe we wouldn’t know until later today when she arrived.

We’d guess six months since that was all the time she had left on her contract and hadn’t signed a new one. Less would be even better and Megan assured me it couldn’t be more. God, I hoped she was right.

The scent of freshly brewed coffee hit my nose. I filled her travel cup and a mug of my own. As tired as I was, there would be no chance of me going back to sleep. Not until I knew she made it there and found out how long she’d be gone for.

Two sugars and cream for her. Black for me. I held the cup in my hands like a lifeline, steam swirling up from the top. A slight movement off to my left caught my attention. Megan stood at the end of the hall, her shoulders shaking. I set the cup on the counter and immediately went to her, wrapping her in my arms and rocking her back and forth.

“Everything is going to be okay,” I whispered, trying to convince both of us about the truth in that statement.

She nodded but said nothing. Leaning back I pressed my finger under her chin, bringing her gaze back up to me. Tears streaked down her beautiful face.

“I want you to listen to me.”

She sniffled and nodded. I let go of her chin to reach for the chain around my neck and lifted it, the light from the kitchen glinting off my wedding band.

“This and…” I dropped mine and pulled her chain from where she had it tucked into the T-shirt of her fatigues. The diamond in her engagement ring reflected light all over the walls and ceiling. “This mean that nothing is going to separate us. Is this the ideal situation? No, but we’ll make it work. At the most in six months you’ll be home and we’ll have the rest of our lives to be together.”

Her shoulders jerked and her breathing hitched a few times as she tried to get control of her emotions. “I love you.”

  “I love you, too.”

Her eyes flicked over my shoulder for a moment. “I have to get on the road.”

I stepped back, letting my arms fall to my side, afraid that if I touched her again I wouldn’t be able to let her go.

I picked up her mug and pressed it into her palm. “Promise me you’ll call as soon as you get there.”

She leaned in and pressed her lips briefly to mine. “I promise.”

“Are you sure you don’t want me to help you take your bags down to the car?”

“I’m sure. I’ll have to do it myself when I get there.” She rested her hand against my cheek. “No super sexy rock stars to help.”

I covered her hand with mine. “Love you.”

  “Love you, too.”

She stepped back, picked up her bag, and then she was gone. The door sounded like it crashed into the frame, even as it quietly clicked into place. I kept my feet rooted to the floor, no matter how badly I wanted to chase her down the hall and bring her back. I knew I couldn’t.

A weight settled on my shoulders as I walked back to the kitchen to grab my coffee. With the cooled off mug in one hand and my phone in the other, I sat on the couch and flipped on the TV. Anything to drown out the silence. Silence I hadn’t noticed since Monty and Allana bought their house.

Image after image blurred on the screen before me. None of them actually registering as I checked my phone for the millionth time in the last hour. The drive to the bas was at least an hour and a half, but that didn’t stop me.

A key jiggled in the lock and my head snapped up. Was she back? The door opened and a head of dark hair peeked around it.

“Jackson, you up?” Monty asked, looking around the apartment.
