Now it’s my job to run interference with the rest of the women that we’re meeting and subtly let Melody and everyone know what’s going on right now. They’ll all have her back, they just need to know that they have to keep an eye on her. If not, she’s bound to have a panic attack and her men will have an absolute fit and probably make all of us go home. Skylar would hate it, and we don’t want that to happen.

“What’s up?” Melody asks, as she, Maddie, Whitney join me.

“Skylar is having a hard time right now. Bailey is taking her away from everyone so she can catch her breath and calm down a little bit. I’m not sure where they’re going, but we need to make sure that she stays left alone for a little bit,” I respond, stopping in my tracks to make sure that they all hear me.

“Okay. We’ll all watch out for her and make sure one of the prospects gets to her if he’s needed,” Maddie tells us.

“No. Only go to them if Goose isn’t around. He already knows what’s going on and has vowed to help her through this. We talked about it a little while ago. She’s not going to want a scene caused because of this and the less people that know, the better,” I tell them all. “I don’t know how much the prospects know about the situation and I’m not looking to tangle with Cage and Joker because they found out shit they weren’t supposed to know.”

The girls nod their heads to me and we begin to increase our pace in case Bailey needs help. If too many more people surround Skylar, we are going to have to call her men in. I can already see a breakdown coming on. It hurts that she has to suffer through this and there’s nothing we can really do to help her out.

“Everything alright?” The one who introduced herself as Lizzie earlier comes up and asks me.

“It will be. Thank you for asking,” I respond to her, trying to be polite but not give any information away.

“Let me know if there's anything you need from me,” she states before being dragged away by several others. It looks as if everyone is already having a great time, and I’m ready to join in on the activities once I get settled and make sure Skylar is okay.

  Jenalyn

So far this day has far exceeded my expectations. All of the women are awesome, or as far as I can tell. Although, right about now, I seem to be loving everyone. Hell, even the thought of Justice brings a smile to my face. Suddenly, I feel a small frown form and my heart sinks.

“What’s wrong, Jenalyn? You went from grinning to frowning.” Vanna places her hand on my back as she leans in closer.

The mental image of my babies plays across my mind again as I look at her. “I miss Cami and Leo. Hell, Vanna, I even feel something resembling the same about Justice,” I tell her. “It hasn’t even been a full day.” I feel my shoulders slump.

Sidney approaches. “Are you feeling ill?” she asks, before turning her back to reach for her medical bag, but I reach out and stop her.

“I’m not sick. Maybe it’s the alcohol talking?” I question, as my eyes search theirs for an answer.

“She misses the kids, and maybe Justice. The last part definitely clues me into the fact that it must be the alcohol talking,” Vanna responds.

I bat her arm playfully. “Whatever, bitch.” I let out a small giggle, because I know she’s probably right. Not that I don’t necessarily miss my man, but I’m more than happy about not having his physical presence hovering over me. “Okay, fuck this. I think all the men have started a bonfire. Let’s get out of this room and go see what we’re missing out on. I’m killing my own buzz.”

Sidney and Vanna both laugh and we make our way outside to join the rest of the women and fun. I notice they’re all sharing stories and laughing, so I quickly find my seat. Patch and Heavy have set all three of our chairs up next to one another. Mine is conveniently located in the middle. I roll my eyes, because I guess his thought process was that Vanna and Sidney could help keep me somewhat subdued. I giggle beneath my breath wondering what in the world crossed his mind. But, it’s true, he needs all the help he can get keeping my ass under control and he knows it. Well played, Patch, well played.

Vanna and Sidney take up residence on either side of me and Ashton approaches us with plastic cups and we each take one from her. I bring the cup to my nose and take a whiff. Smells fruity, yum! “What’s this?” I ask her.

A grin forms on her face. “It’s what we like to call junkyard punch, sweetie.”

I take a drink and immediately find myself in love with this drink. “This is sinful, Ashton. Thank you! Mind sharing the recipe? Not now of course, but sometime before we all leave.”

“I’ll write it down for you so you can refer to it anytime you need to make it. It’s sorta the type of concoction that you have to test out as you add the ingredients. But, I can give you the measurements I use and you can either add or subtract depending on how drunk you are wanting to get. It has several different liquors in it, so be careful how much you add and how much you consume in one sitting,” she squeezes my hand as she walks away.

  Savanna

Jenalyn’s right, this drink is amazing. I promised myself that I would keep to my normal eating and drinking habits as much as I could, but I allowed for some cheating. Once we’re back home, I’ll do a cleanse to rid my body of any toxins. I just hope that it doesn’t make me completely sick.

“What are you pondering over there?” Jenalyn asks. “Please, please don’t say you’re already worrying about what you’re putting in your body? You said you weren’t gonna be as strict on yourself while we’re away.”

I turn and glare at her. “Worry not, Sister. I survived your driving and getting us lost, I’ll survive this.”

“Good girl,” she begins, but pauses after she turns away from me. “Wait! Are you still bitching about that GPS or navigation malfunction?” She snaps her head and turns back to me.

“Ladies, ladies. Can we just sit here and enjoy this beautiful bonfire without all the damn bickering for once?” Sidney asks, never making eye contact with either of us. She’s enamored with the flames dancing in front of us. “It could always be worse. We could be back at home with the men. I’d be stitching up someone. Jenalyn, you’d be changing shitty diapers, and Vanna, you’d be helping out with those shitty diapers. So please, let’s just enjoy this time while we have it.”

Jenalyn and I both look over at Sidney and then back at one another, almost in shock. “Okay, am I in an episode of body snatchers?” Jenalyn asks me. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say she’s, well, you!”

I narrow my eyes at her, but she begins to laugh, and I quickly follow. Holding my drink up, I say, “I’m not sure what’s in this or why we’re laughing, but it’s damn good!”

Jenalyn extends her cup to mine and we gently knock them together. “Cheers!”

  Bailey

Now that we have Skylar calmed down from her little freakout earlier, we’re all out sitting around a fire and enjoying getting to know one another. Skylar is busy talking to Hannah and I can only guess that they’re comparing notes on the joys, and everything else, regarding being with two alpha males. I see the things that Skylar goes through so I can just imagine how Hannah is doing.

The rest of the girls from our club are sitting around different areas talking to different women of the clubs. Everyone looks to be having a great time and I’m glad that we had the chance to do this. Even if the circumstances suck as to why we got to come here, I’m glad that we’re here.

Before I can get lost in thought too much, I see Skylar sit up straight. At first, I think she’s about to have a meltdown, but instead of that, she bursts out into uncontrollable laughter. It’s so good to see as I let my body relax once again. The next time that we get together with everyone, I’m going to have to talk to a few friends about coming with us. We’ll just have to make a trip to Dander Falls to pick them up first.

Once we get all of the kids settled into the main area, we hook them up
with DVD’s and make sure the prospects are stationed to keep an eye on them. They are hooked up with snacks and drinks so we head out to join the other women who’ve gathered around the fire pit which looks like a gigantic bonfire. I make my rounds and make sure to speak with the women that I haven't had the opportunity to talk with. I find DJ making herself at home, already comfortable with all of the women and hear her talking about her books. Since I’ve personally read them all and know about the plot of her newest manuscript, I make my way and join Ashton, Lizzie, Jenalyn, Vanna, Sidney, Bailey and Trinity. I feel my phone buzz in my pocket, and pull it out to see who’s messaging me. I’m betting on Braxton since I haven’t had the chance to speak to him since arriving earlier. I notice a missed call and one voicemail left on my phone. I put it on speaker and dial my voicemail, then after plugging in my password, I listen to the message.

“Hey, Cara, it’s Smokey. We’re trying to get ahold of you because there was an incident with Braxton today that we need to talk to you about. Give me a call as soon as you get this...I can hear the panic in his tone and the phone drops from my hand, I lose my footing because once I go to take a step, my feet seem to be made of lead and I can’t move. I fall to the ground after losing my balance and scream out my frustrations. Agony rips through me at the possibilities of what could have happened to my old man.
