Curse of the Cruel and Lovely : Allied Kingdoms Academy 3

I briefly pressed my lips together. “What changes?”
Mother glanced between all four of us. “Turns out there are more than humans at this school now and not everyone gets along. Vampires have grown in number and with the promise not to kill or feed on humans we’ve allowed them. Others can shift into wolves, and the magic-born are now referred to as ‘witches’ by some.”
That explained why the wolf called me that.
“But the biggest issue is Enden and Kyria. She promised if her son didn’t return home by the end of this month, she’d start a war.”
Zyacus touched my arm. “I must go see my father, and Aric, his mother.” He took my hand with his wolf ring on it and lifted it up. “Perhaps this will fix the tension between our kingdoms. Visteal and I are married. This truly combines the three kingdoms, with my mother of Collweya, my father from Hesstia, and Visteal of Delhoon.”
My mother’s mouth dropped. “You can’t be serious.”
Ugh that was not the reaction I had hoped for. A smile and congratulations, an embrace for the both of us.
“It’s true,” Taz blurted out. “We watched the ceremony.”
My mother’s serious blue gaze pinned on me. “Visteal?”
I slid my arm around his low back and smiled. “We are bound by blood, magic, and soul forever.”
The door creaked and we all turned to see my father and Madison standing in the doorway. Madison seemed amused with a sly smile. My father, however, looked like he might attack Zyacus right then and there. Both Aric and Taz backed out of the way leaving an opening between him and us.
I swallowed hard. “Father, don’t be mad.”
“Is that why you truly took her?” my father boomed. “To marry my daughter in secret because you knew I wouldn’t allow it?”
“Father, no that’s not why.” Holy phoenix, how could he even think that?
Zyacus tensed and I felt his magic reacting, ready to defend. “King Boaden, that is not even close to what happened. But I do love her. I will take care of her and treat her better than any other man ever would.”
With wild eyes, my father looked like he was ready to fly across the room at Zyacus.
“Clearly they’ve been through a lot, Boaden,” Madison said, waving a hand toward us. “They wear battle armor and by the looks of them have been in a battle recently. Perhaps we should allow them to explain before you ruin your relationship with your daughter.”
A student popped her head in. “Apologies for disrupting but the wolves and vamps are at it again.”
“I’m glad you’re back,” Madison smiled at us, “but I have to go handle this.”
I ran over to the window that oversaw the back grounds. A massive fight between at least a hundred students broke out. I had hoped for some peace coming home but it felt like I never left Faerie at all.
