He moved his lips to my jaw and kissed down to my throat. The softness of his lips made my body shiver. I swiveled my head to the side to look to the front, where Amari was standing. He had to know what was going on behind him. We weren't exactly being quiet.

Val grabbed my chin and brought my eyes back to his. "I want you right now. Let me have you."

His lips smashed back into mine, more forceful than before. His hands gripped at the top of my shirt, and in one movement, he ripped it down the front. I gasped into his mouth as he parted the fabric and cupped my breasts. He was lucky we had shirts all around us.

He nipped at my lower lip then lowered his mouth to my chest, where his tongue flicked at the edge of my bra. He bit my nipple through the fabric and my fingers went to his hair.

"Val." I needed him. I lifted my hips up off the couch to meet his erection that was straining against his pants. My hands fumbled with the button.

He reached down and helped me open them, pulling his cock out. I licked my lips and then stuck my thumb in my mouth. Val's eyes darkened and closed halfway as he watched me suck my thumb.

I pulled my thumb from my mouth and swiped it over the head of his cock, smearing the bead of pre-cum that was there. He was so hard and thick. It pulsated against my hand as I slid my palm against his shaft to the root. I slowly began pumping him, working my fist in a small circular motion.

He unclasped my bra and let out a sigh. "I missed your hands on my cock."

I whimpered as he gently blew on one of my nipples and then swirled his tongue around it. I was going to combust if he didn't relieve the pressure between my legs soon.

He mumbled words against my breast and he dragged a fang across my nipple. I gasped at the sensation and tugged at his hair.

I was going to let him bite me. Would it hurt? Would I enjoy it?

Before I could ask him when he was going to bite me so I could mentally prepare, he was on his knees in front of the couch. He tugged down my pants and grunted as he struggled to yank off my shoes. He managed to get them off with some fumbling and threw them to the side, along with my pants and panties.

"Hermosa," he whispered as he spread my knees open. "Fucking beautiful."

He hooked his hands around the backs of my knees and pulled me forward on the couch so I was at the edge. He kissed the side of my knee and looked up at me with his blue eyes.

I brought one of my hands to my breasts and rolled my nipple between my fingers. His eyes darkened at the sight and he slowly ran his tongue up to my inner thigh. He sucked the sensitive skin into his mouth and I thrust my hips forward.

"Val," I warned as he switched to the other side. I could feel him smiling against my skin as he splayed a hand across my belly.

My breath was starting to come in small pants as I knew he was getting closer and closer to where I needed him. He kissed me at the juncture between my legs. And then, ever so slowly, his tongue swiped across me.

"Yes. Just like that." He swiped his tongue across me again. "More."

My free hand went to his head and urged him to dive right in. He let out a grumble before his tongue went deeper and then moved to my clit.

He thrust two fingers inside me with no mercy, and I felt myself starting to come undone. The fingers of his other hand replaced his tongue, and he began sucking on my inner thigh again.

I gripped the edge of the couch cushion as the bottoms of my feet began to tingle. A sharp pinch on my thigh made me gasp and then the realization that he was drinking shot through me like a lightning bolt.

I practically levitated off the couch cushion as my orgasm barreled through my body. I cried out and dug my nails into the fabric as wave after wave of pleasure emanated from the spot on my thigh.

My pussy clenched around his fingers as he thrust them harder and deeper. It seemed to last forever before he pulled his face away from my thigh. He licked his lips before taking his fingers into his mouth.

"Holy hell serpents," I muttered between breaths.

He pulled me against him and I wrapped my legs around him. He stood and sat down on the couch with me straddling him.

He gripped the base of his dick and guided it to my core. I groaned as I slid onto his hard shaft. It was even better than I remembered.

I sighed into his neck, my arms wrapped around the back of his head and holding onto his hair. I rocked my hips slowly, still recovering from my orgasm.

"Bruja," he moaned into my hair. "Más."

His hands grabbed my ass and began moving me faster. I put my lips against his ear. "You want more?"

  "Yes."

I gripped the back part of the couch and thrust deeper and faster. He threw his head back and groaned. My thighs were burning from the position, but I didn't stop. My clit rubbed against him with every downward thrust and my orgasm built deep within my walls.

"I'm going to come so fucking hard," he growled.

His fingers dug into my ass and then one hand disappeared and then delivered a smack only seconds later. My pussy clenched around him, and I fell headfirst into a mind-numbing orgasm. My thrusts became more erratic and my body trembled around him, milking his orgasm out of him.

I collapsed on top of him and a tear escaped my eye. I was in big trouble.

  Chapter 11

  Val

My body thrummed with energy as Samara slid off me, grabbed her clothes, and made her way to the bathroom. She was quiet. Too quiet.

I ran a shaking hand over my face and stood, looking around for my pants. It had been so long since I'd buried myself in a woman that I didn't know whether or not to be concerned about the buzz I had going on.

Maybe it was because her blood was royal. Hell, maybe it was because we were on Earth.

"Was it as you imagined?" Amari's gruff voice caused me to jump.

He was still facing the window but hadn't moved. A pang of guilt swirled in my gut as I put on my clothes and walked toward him.

"It was." I put my hand on his biceps and sighed.

At times, when I craved his touch the most, he was stone. I ran my hand down the smooth surface of his arm and grabbed his hand.

"You aren't angry, are you?" I put my lips on his arm.

I heard his head turn slightly and looked up to meet his arresting green eyes. They never failed to send my heartbeat fluttering.

"Sad I missed out." He grunted. "Need all the energy I can get."

I sighed and rested my cheek against him, the cool surface soothing my still healing skin. It was almost one hundred percent healed now that I had drunk blood.

"The sun is going down, I think." Another grunt. "There are crazy stories written by these people about vampires. I've read a few, and I thought they were ridiculous, but now I wonder... I need to get out of here."

The second my feet had touched down on the sidewalk, I knew where we were. I'd only heard about it from family who had returned, and from books they had written and brought back, but there was no mistaking it.

The sounds, the smells, the sun. Everything had hit me at once. Then, when we stepped into the shop, I had been overcome with the need to stick my fangs in the woman's throat. I had never once felt so much power over a helpless being.

It was like there, on Earth, I was stronger. Invincible even. Except for the sun.

Now I understood why vampires had long sought ways to get to Earth. I licked my lips, thinking about how the human woman would have tasted on my tongue.

"Why are you growling?" I jumped at the sound of Amari's voice. He let out a chuckle. "I guess it really was as good as it sounded."

I didn't respond, and instead focused on the passing of cars outside on the street. They were even more amazing than they were depicted in books and pictures.

"We could stay here." Amari's voice came as a whisper, and at first, I thought I heard him wrong.

I sighed and patted his arm. "This isn't our home."

Samara came from the back of the store and began looking through the clothing for
a new shirt. I couldn’t keep my eyes off her in only her pants and bra. Apparently, neither could Amari.

  “Something tight,” he grumbled.

She let out a laugh and held up a white shirt to her chest. “Is it too bright?”

I joined her in her quest for a new shirt. “I think it’s perfect, but it has no sleeves.”

She took it off the hanger and pulled it on. It molded to her like a glove. Amari let out an approving grunt.

“I’ll wear another shirt over it.”

We searched for a while and she settled on a jacket to wear over it. It had a zipper at the front and I knew she’d never wear it once we got back to Inferna.

She pulled it on and I let out a whistle. She wore Earth clothes well.

My body tensed as we stood at the back door of the shop. It was dark now, but I still had the prickling feeling from the sun on my skin.

We had spent the last few hours playing a card game called Exploding Kittens. Amari had been annoyingly good at it and it had just pissed me off most of the time. One second I’d think I had him, and the next he’d throw a wrench in my plans.

“So we’re just going to walk straight out of here for fifteen minutes?” Amari was standing just outside the door. “How can we walk straight forward when… oh, look, what’s that? A wall? No way!”

I snorted at his theatrics. Samara was rubbing her index finger over her lips and stopped to glare at him.

“I see that. We’ll just have to go around.” She adjusted the straps of the bag on her back.

She had decided to stuff the sparkling pink one into a duller brown bag. Once we got back to Inferna, she didn’t need any more attention than she already got with that hair of hers.

We took off down the pathway towards the street where cars were zooming past. We would need to be careful; the last thing we needed was for one of us to get hit by one.

“Those are cars. That’s their way of traveling. That and car-like contraptions that fly.”

Amari and Samara were both silent as we rounded a corner onto the sidewalk and made our way in the direction we needed to go. I wasn’t as shocked as them, but still in awe of what I was seeing.

Samara slipped her hand in mine. “There’s so much light and noise, even at night.”

We walked past a crowd that waited outside a place that smelled like food. I instantly regretted opening my nose to the smells. I squeezed Samara’s hand tightly.

As we walked, it became clear we didn’t even really stand out. I thought maybe with being from Inferna and all we would look different. The only one of us that got a second glance was Sammy. I didn’t think it was because of her hair.

Quite a few men and women glanced up and down her body. I felt like ripping their throats out. I’d heard Amari grumble a few times. I was glad I wasn’t the only one who was annoyed with their stares.

I glanced down at my watch. “It’s been about fifteen minutes.”

We walked for another few minutes, just to be safe, before we turned down a narrow street that smelled like trash. There were doors, but no one was waiting at these.

We moved down the long passageway a little way before Samara stopped and opened her bag. “Ready? Let’s hope this works.”

“You know, if this Infernal Council thing doesn’t work out for us, we can always come back here.” I was surprised at Amari’s words. It was twice now he had mentioned staying.

Maybe he was just excited there was a shirt with gargoyles on it.

We grabbed onto Sammy and she took a deep breath before touching the feather to her palm.

  Nothing happened.

“Fuck. Maybe this one is defective.” She reached back in her bag and pulled out another. “This one looks like it has more dried blood on it.”

We grabbed onto her arms again and she repeated the same thing over. A curse left her lips.

“Maybe it only works inside the castle,” Amari suggested.

“No. It should work everywhere.” My family had gone through the barrier before, and they definitely hadn’t been in the castle.

It was a well-known fact that Lilith had several ports, as she called them, to let demons through to Earth. To my knowledge, she had done it a few times.

We grabbed back onto Sammy for the third time. She shut her eyes, took a few deep breaths, and closed her fist around the feather. Nothing happened at first.

Then her hand started to glow. I was just about to say something when we were sucked back through to Inferna.

We were in the Black Forest, and there wasn’t a sound around us. Well, besides our heartbeats. I didn’t quite know how I felt about the idea of being stuck on Earth.

“Thank fuck. I would have never forgiven myself if I didn’t at least get to say goodbye to Nico.” She shoved the feather into her bag and started walking north.

“Why was your hand glowing?” What had just happened came to the forefront of my mind. Maybe she really was a witch. Wouldn’t that be something?

She shrugged and continued. I stalked after her, with Amari following close behind me.

“Valentino, drop it.” Amari never used my entire name unless he was mad at me. He definitely wasn’t mad at me right then.

“What the fuck is going on? You suddenly can figure out how to get to Earth? And then when we can’t get back, your hand starts to glow and then, boom, we’re back? What am I supposed to make of all this?”

“I don’t want to talk about it.” She still wasn’t stopping.

I caught up to her and grabbed her wrist, spinning her around. Her face was wet, and she swiped at her tears. My anger instantly dissipated.

Fuck, I was such an asshole.

“What is it, bruja?” I asked softly. I held onto her wrist but reached up with my free hand and wiped her tears.

She glanced over my shoulder at Amari and my stomach dropped. Whatever it was, he knew. He kept it from me.

  My anger was back.

I turned around and pinned him with a glare. “What’s going on here? Someone needs to tell me right now before I lose my shit.” My heart was thudding in my chest.

I didn’t like secrets. Especially from people I loved and who I thought loved me.

  Really fucking nice, you hypocrite.

Amari ran a hand over the tight curls at the top of his head. “You’re already losing your shit. You need to calm the fuck down.”

I took off north toward my village. We walked for about an hour before I couldn’t stand the silence any longer. It was making me even more irritated.

I spun around and pinned both of them with glares. “You’ve been lying to me this whole time!” The words felt hypocritical coming from my mouth. We were in this whole mess because of me. “Now tell me-”

The sound of feet approaching silenced me. We all looked at each other with wide eyes and then moved behind a tree. Not that it gave us much cover.

“Village guards.” Amari stepped out from behind the tree with his hands in the air. “It’s just u-”

He didn’t get a chance to finish before arrows started whizzing past his head. One hit him in the forearm and he screamed.

“Stay here.” I moved Samara so she was right behind the tree trunk and then dashed out from behind it.

I was too fast for the arrows as I went to another tree. There were at least a dozen men. My men, or at least, my family’s.

“It’s me, Valentino!” I looked over at Amari lying on the ground. He was gripping his arm where the arrow had gone in. “We’re just going home.”

“Come out with your hands up.” I complied because I could move fast enough if they decided to fire at me. “The princess too.”

I didn’t dare glance over at the tree she was hiding behind. “The princess?”

“The council has a bounty out on you two. Luckily your father is paying us more.”

I narrowed my eyes, not really understanding what he was saying. Did my father also have a bounty out on me? We hadn’t parted ways on the best of
terms, but siding with the council?

“So you’re just going to take me back to the estate?”

Several of the guards had moved closer. One of them gave Amari a kick in the arm. He let out another yelp. I didn’t understand why he wasn’t pulling it out or standing up.

  Crap, was it poisoned?

  “Where’s the girl?”

That was a great question. She had disappeared. I groaned internally, knowing she used one of the feathers. She was playing with the magic we didn’t know much about.

What if she landed in the middle of the street? What if she landed in the middle of the ocean they had?

Fear gripped me and I looked around frantically. Maybe she had just run off, but I knew that wasn’t true. I would’ve heard her.

Amari met my eyes; they were filled with pain and worry.

Two of the demons pulled him to his feet. He struggled a little but was no match for those two demons. The horned type were strong.

Another guard pulled his sword out of the sheath. “Where’s the girl? This is the last time we’re going to ask. Tell us or we’ll take his arm.”

“I’ll have your head.” I walked forward and one of the archers raised his bow at me. I stopped in my tracks.

“Little Valentino, so naïve.” The demon laughed. “Hold out his arm.”

Another guard came around and helped hold out the arm that was pierced with the arrow. Amari’s eyes pleaded with me.

“Last chance. We saw her. Now, where is she?” He raised his sword over his head and then slowly lowered it down to Amari’s arm, just above the elbow.

“She’s here, just wait a second okay?” My voice cracked. “Samara!”

I yelled her name several times, trying to buy time and come up with a plan. I could lunge for the guy with the sword, but he was a vampire. He would have Amari’s arm off faster than I could get to him.

I met Amari’s eyes again. He gave me a slight shake of the head. He knew what I was thinking.

Why wasn’t he changing into his gargoyle form? Or shifting? What the hell were they using in those arrow tips?
