“Ciao,” his irritated voice comes over the line a moment later. He never was one that liked being interrupted when it came to interfering between him and the opposite sex.
“Leo!” I exclaim as I turn my back to the women at the car. “It’s Gatz!”
“Well fucking hell,” I hear him blurt out. “And what the fuck do I owe the pleasure of this call to?”
His damn humor is not needed, nor wanted, but I shrug it off with a roll of the eyes and quickly fill him in on what happened.
“You know I wouldn’t bother you unless…”
“Fucking save it!” I hear him hiss before his low sigh fills the line. “You saved my ass more than once, I guess it is more than damn time I returned the fucking favor.”
Hope blooms in my chest for the first time since I saw Liam ripped away from us and a smile spreads across my lips as I turn and meet the eyes of the woman I love. She looks at me confused before taking a step in my direction and cocking her head to the side, questioning me and needing to know why I suddenly look like the world might actually be giving us a second chance when a few moments ago we had nothing.
I hear Leo shuffle around on the other line and know he has to be in his office. “I will start to see what I can find. But there is a lot of red fucking tape between here and the US that can make this shit tricky.”
“I know but…”
He cuts me off, “I know someone. Someone who runs the underground circuit, or at least used to, but does it undercover for the FBI. She’s the only one I trust. Worked several jobs with her before she went legit, but don’t worry about that because Brittany owes me a fucking favor. She’s stateside and can start to crack whatever she can open while I work what I can from here.”
I breathe even easier as Rose comes up to my side and asks who I am talking to, but I hold my finger up signalling for her to give me a moment. “And Justin,” I hear Leo say as I grip the phone and know I will do whatever the fuck he asks, just as long as I don’t have to ever tell the woman in front of me she may never see her son again. “Fucking suit up, Amico! And tell whoever the hell this child’s mother is that she may think she knows you, but there is a whole lot more to learn about the man mi familia only knows as Luca Siciliano.”
