I'd Rather Not (KPD Motorcycle Patrol Book 3)

“Do you think,” he said. “That fate is real?”

I thought about that for a second. “Yes.”

“I think so, too,” he admitted. “I’ve done nothing but hold onto that goddamn rabbit for years now. It’s been with me everywhere. And every time I have it in my hand, I think of you. And when I saw that you were sick, days away from dying, I had this feeling that urged me to do it. To help you. Now, look where I am. I’m with you.”

I reached my hand out for his cock, then tugged lightly, urging him closer.

He came, putting both of his fists on either side of my head and leaning down until his mouth was inches from mine.

“Yeah, baby?” he rasped, his breath dancing over my lips.

  “Fuck me.”

I was honestly surprised by the words that’d just come out of my mouth.

I could tell he could tell that I was, too.

His eyes crinkled at the edges as he grinned down at me.

Then, with slow, methodical movements, he leaned upward and slowly brought his body off of mine.

That was when I watched as he ripped the condom open with his teeth, and slowly slid it down over his very hard member.

I watched in apt fascination as he moved, biting my lip when he finally reached the end.

The condom didn’t cover his cock fully.

It stopped about three-quarters of the way down and looked like it was tight as hell on him.

“Does that hurt?” I wondered aloud.

He looked down at his cock and gave it a few experimental tugs.

  Then shook his head.

“No,” he said. “I mean, other than I want to fuck you really bad, and my cock is aching. The condom doesn’t hurt it, though.”

I grinned up at him, then spread myself just a little bit wider.

He took the hint and once again came down over the top of me, keeping almost all of his weight off of me except for where his cock pressed heavily between my splayed thighs.

I couldn’t stop myself from lifting my hips and pressing myself even firmer against him.

  “Please,” I pleaded. “Everything hurts.”

He took the hint and pressed himself against me firmly, grinding his cock against me just a bit harder, and I nearly came off the bed.

He chuckled darkly as he pulled back, then he was notched at my entrance and pushing inside.

My breath hitched when I started to stretch around his invading shaft, and at first, I wasn’t sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing—the feeling of him entering me.

  He really was big.

But just when it started to get to be too much, he pulled back, retreating until he was once again poised at my entrance.

Over and over he did this, gaining more and more ground until finally he was fully sheathed inside of me.

I’d never felt so full in my life.

  Or so right.

Having him inside of me, while he was staring directly into my eyes, felt like an out of body experience. One that was so perfect and right that I could hardly breathe.

He dropped down then, giving me his body weight.

I threw my arms around his neck, and then lifted up slightly so I could press a kiss to his mouth.

That kiss turned carnal in nature when he took over the kiss.

Then he started to rock his hips, slowly and methodically.

It drove me wild. I could feel his piercing rubbing deliciously against me, too.

Each twist of his hips caused his cock to push at the entrance to my womb. The deepness that he acquired was startling. I’d never felt the pleasure and pain so acutely before until him.

He pulled back and planted his elbows beside my head, trying to keep most of his body weight off of my chest, allowing me to breathe easy.

  And he slowly fucked me.

In and out in small increments until I was suddenly teetering on the edge.

I’d never had an orgasm before from penetration alone.

Honestly, I’d never had an orgasm before with a man, period, while having sex.

So, at first, I wasn’t sure what it was that I was feeling.

Then he went up onto one arm and reached down to hook his hand underneath one of my thighs, just behind the back of my knee. Pulling it up and pressing it down beside my head, the angle changed.

  And I came.

  I came hard, eyes closing.

I silently screamed as waves of bliss rolled over me.

It was the sweetest, most intense orgasm I’d ever felt in my life.

  “Thank fuck,” I heard vaguely.

That was when Pace’s tempo changed. He picked up speed and started to thrust into me faster and harder.

I hadn’t realized how much he was holding back—both of the strength of his thrusts and the depth that he was pushing into me.

But when he started going faster and harder, I realized that he was holding back so that he wouldn’t hurt me.

And I was grateful, but when one orgasm rolled straight into another? Well, I was shell-shocked.

The second orgasm was much more intense than the first. It was hard, fast, and stole my breath and my voice.

Lights danced behind my eyelids as the pleasure rolled through me, and I knew that this was definitely the type that I preferred.

The orgasm that was so good that it hurt.

He growled and buried his face into my neck, then started to jerk.

His cock twitched inside of me, and I realized then that he was coming.

It was long minutes later, when both of us had finally regained our wits, that I smiled against Pace’s mouth that was lazily running over my lips in sweet caresses.

“I thought you were bringing Jagger over,” I whispered against his lips.

“Jagger went to lay down on your couch and refused to get back up,” he said, licking the seam of my lips. “I took that to mean he was out for the night and not getting back up.”

  I grinned. “Probably.”

“Can’t say that I’m upset about it,” he admitted. “If I’d brought him, I wouldn’t have caught you masturbating in my kitchen.”

I snorted. “I wasn’t masturbating. I was trying to ease the ache by pressing the heel of my hand down on my clit.”

“Did it work?” he wondered, swiveling his hips.

He was no longer hard, but his cock was still substantial inside of me, meaning that the move elicited a moan from my lips.

That was about when the timer went off on the cinnamon rolls, forcing us both apart even though we’d rather stay together like that forever.

He grasped the bottom of the condom and pulled free. I got up and walked hurriedly to the kitchen.

Snatching the dishtowel up off the side of the sink, I walked to the oven and pulled the food out, setting it on the counter on a cutting board.

After turning off the oven, I once again replaced the dishtowel where it went, then felt Pace’s hips press up against my ass, pinning me back to the counter, this time with my back to him.

“I’ve wanted nothing more than to do this so many times,” he growled into my ear. “I’ve wanted to bend you over my counter as you’ve cooked for me. Fuck you on the dinner table when you bent over at my side to place my plate in front of me. God, do you have any idea how fucking sexy you are?”

No, no, I had no idea.

Because had I had an idea? We would’ve definitely done this much, much sooner.

  Chapter 13

Congratulations with getting through the easiest part of life.

-Pace to a high school graduate

  Pace

“What’s with that look on your face?”

I looked over at Justice, my partner for the day, and shrugged.

“Thinking about my woman,” I said. “She had a doctor’s appointment today and I haven’t heard back from her yet.”

  “Call her,” he suggested.

  I look
ed at my watch.

It’d been two hours since the appointment was scheduled, but I didn’t want to bother her if she was busy.

I also didn’t want to seem overly eager and smother her with my concern, either.

“Based on the way that you two are together,” he said. “I highly doubt that she’s going to be mad that you’re concerned about her. Just send her a text.”

I decided to take his advice and shot one off, immediately feeling better that I’d reached out.

  Pace: Everything going okay?

I went back to eating my Subway sandwich and kept my eyes on the room around us instead of staring longingly at my phone.

“Your best friend just walked in,” Justice said.

I looked up to find Sergeant Jackson entering dressed in uniform. He was talking to his wife, who meekly followed behind him like a scared puppy.

  I grimaced and turned away.

“Oh joy to the world,” I muttered darkly under my breath.

  Justice laughed.

I looked up at him and saw that he was watching Jackson with a narrow-eyed look.

“Don’t,” I said. “He’ll just come over here.”

And he did. Catching Justice looking at him, he couldn’t stop himself.

“I’m loving the outfits,” Jackson teased amusingly. “They’re really quite attractive. Linda, what do you think of their uniforms?”

She looked like she’d rather gnaw off her own arm than answer the question.

But when Jackson looked at her like she would regret it if she didn’t answer, she quickly said, “They’re quite revealing.”

I would’ve laughed had she not flinched and ducked at Jackson’s obvious disapproval of what she’d said.

Justice sat back in his seat and stared at Jackson as if he was an interesting bug.

“Why’d you ask for her opinion if you weren’t interested in it?” Justice challenged.

Jackson narrowed his eyes on Justice.

“And what did you do to get into the reject unit?” he asked. “Fuck your boss’s wife?”

  Justice rolled his eyes.

“It was his daughter,” Justice replied. “And I didn’t know that she was my sergeant’s daughter. I just saw a pretty girl that wanted to give me head, so I allowed it to happen. Had I known that it was going to happen that way, I definitely would’ve kept it in my pants.”

Jackson snorted. “I’m sure you would have. I’m sure you also would’ve not done that particular sting operation, too. Don’t you wish you’d said no?”

Justice, before coming to our unit, had been on the undercover unit. Something had gone wrong on the last operation he’d done, and he’d been put on administrative leave for almost two weeks while they investigated what had happened. After ascertaining that it wasn’t Justice’s fault, they’d reinstated him. However, they’d also moved him to the motor patrol unit, as well as given him a warning that if he stepped out of line again, it was very possible that he’d be fired.

“No,” Justice replied. “I wish I had chosen somewhere else to eat, though.”

  I choked on a tomato.

Jackson turned his mutinous eyes toward me.

  “Where’s your girl?” he asked.

I reached for my water and took a long drink before saying, “Working.”

“What does she do?” he pushes.

I didn’t want to answer him.

But I couldn’t see why it would matter for him to know what she did for a living.

“She works for some authors doing something,” I answered.

I, of course, knew more than that.

But I didn’t want him to know that she was home all day long. I didn’t want him to know anything about her that might give him any insight into her.

“Sounds…inconsequential,” he said, eyeing his wife now.

I looked over at his wife to see her staring at me with something close to worry on her face.

“Is she an editor?” the woman asked.

I shrugged. “I don’t know. She works with a bunch of different authors. Never asked what it was she did exactly.”

  Total lies.

I knew that she was the woman behind the scenes. She didn’t edit for the authors, but she did take the books and format them. She also helped promote the authors that she worked with.

There was a whole lot of details in her job, and I tried to listen when she went in-depth, but honestly, it was a lot to take in.

“I’ll have to see about getting her name,” the woman replied. “I write under the pseudonym ‘Peach Jones.’ It’s fun to hear that someone around here is in the same little book community as me.”

I would have to remember to write the name down after Jackson left.

The little meeting had gone beyond uncomfortable and was now in the ‘I would like to leave’ category.

“I’m done,” Justice said as he stood up. “Are you ready to go? I have to go by the bank to deposit my check.”

I gave a jerk of my head and sucked up the last of my water before taking the rest of my sandwich and shoving it into my mouth.

It was about two bites worth, so all I did as I was leaving was wave at Jackson and his wife.

When we finally got out to the bikes, Justice looked at me with a new respect.

“I gotta say,” he said. “I’ve heard a lot about Jackson from a couple of other cops. I’m honestly surprised you made it as long as you did with him before leaving. Thank God you’re not having to deal with his shit anymore. His eyes creeped me the fuck out.”

  “I know,” I admitted.

  And I did.

Jackson had the freakiest looking eyes on the planet, and not because they were a weird color or anything, but because they were devoid of any and all emotion.

I’d heard that sometimes, after being on the job for a long time, that cops become hardened. But Jackson wasn’t just hardened. He was like a robot. The only emotion I ever saw out of him was anger, and that was usually directed toward me.

“His wife is hot, though,” Justice said. “Looks too sweet for him.”

  I agreed wholeheartedly.

“Do you really need to go to the bank?” I asked as we reached our motorcycles.

“Yes,” Justice said. “But not right this second.”

“Might as well go,” I said. “That way he won’t see us just driving off.”

Sadly, the bank was across the street, and Jackson would be able to figure out that we’d used the bank as an excuse to leave. Then he’d just give me shit about it the next time I saw him.

“Fine with me,” Justice said. “We have about fifteen minutes until it’s time to get back on shift, anyway. I’m not saying that I don’t want to work, but I definitely don’t want to give KPD fifteen minutes of my time when I don’t have to.”

I knew exactly what he was saying.

Why give the department fifteen minutes—money out of your own pocket, practically—when we could just take the extra fifteen minutes and not give the PD anything for free?

Though, I wasn’t as bitter about my move to this department as Justice was.

Justice was, as you could call it, pissed.

  Way pissed.

So pissed, in fact, that I was honestly surprised he was still here.

But, I had a feeling it had a lot to do with the girl that he’d mentioned over lunch.

  “Okay, meet you over there.”

I followed Justice over to the bank and spotted a very familiar car in the parking lot.

Grinning like the dumbass that I was, I got out with quite a bit more pep in my step than I had at Subway.

The radio squawked, and I turned it down a little lower so it wouldn’t be like a deafening blast when we walked into the quiet bank.

I noted that Justice did the same as we walked inside the building.

I didn’t spot her at first.

I was too busy allowing my
eyes to adjust to the darkness of the lobby to notice where she was.

But when I did, I saw that she was with not a teller, but one of the people in the little rooms off to the side.

She was sitting at the seat in front of the desk, and she was twirling a lock of hair that’d escaped from her high ponytail that was centered at the top of her head.

Justice walked up to the front of the counter, standing behind a nervous looking man that was practically dancing on his feet at the counter.

Knowing Justice could handle whatever that man was on, I turned my attention back to the woman that was now very much aware that I was there.

I wasn’t sure when she looked up, but we did have a sixth sense, it seemed, when it came to knowing the other was there.

I grinned at the woman—my woman—and saw twin flashes of red hit each of her cheeks.

Whatever she was talking to the woman about was ended fast, and about a minute later, Oakley came hurrying out with a smile on her face. A smile that was only mine.

I lifted my hand and waited for her to walk to me.

  She didn’t disappoint.

But where I expected her to stop a respectable distance away, she kept right on walking, straight into my arms.

She went up onto tiptoes and pressed her lips against the underside of my jaw, then stepped back with a pleased smile on her face as she half-wrapped my hand that she still held tightly in hers around her ass.

“Hey, what are you doing here?” she asked with a smile.

I tightened my arm around her ass and pulled her in tight.

There was no hiding the erection that always popped up when she was near, and she felt it and flashed me a large grin.

“I can’t help it,” I muttered when she gave me that knowing smile. “And we were eating lunch across the street at Subway. We had fifteen minutes left when Jackson showed with his wife, so we decided to leave and come over here so Justice could run to the bank.”

Oakley scrunched her nose up rather cutely.

“I don’t like that man,” she sighed. “And, I have some weird news. Which is why I’m here. I had a visit from my landlord.”

  My brows rose. “Yeah?”

“Yeah,” she sighed. “I was going to talk to you about it when you came over for dinner, but since you’re here, and I have a feeling you’re about to ask me why I’m here, I might as well tell you now.”
