Too late, you fuck.
I pulled the trigger and the bullet sailed through the air and straight into his body. The force of it was so strong that it pushed him back against the wall and then back forward over the small banister. He fell gloriously from the second floor to the first, his body landing in a strange twisted heap of bones and flesh. He was still alive though.
He landed in the middle of an army of Wings, Spawns and soldiers from the Croatian mob. I bet he didn’t think his day would end like this.
We circled him. Everyone with hatred and evil in their eyes. I was sure we all wanted a piece of the man who made our lives a living hell.
“Wait, wait. You don’t understand. I was trying to help you people! No hagas esto! This is wrong. It’s wrong and you know it!” The pussy tried to pull himself back and away from danger but there was nowhere else for him to run. He was out of luck, out of an army and out of life.
“Čekati!” Marko Juric called out from behind us. Wire put his hand up to stop us. We turned to see Marko walking with two men at his side. They looked incredibly familiar.
“Mis hermanos, lo siento. Ayuda me, por favor, Ayuda me.” Alejandro put his hand out, a phony ass tear trailing down his face.
“Oh brother. What have you done?” One of the men spoke. His english heavily laced with his latin accent. This was another of the Vilanuevas brothers.
“We told you to leave it alone, now look. Mirate! You have disgraced us. You have disgraced your family.” The other brother said.
“Now you must pay, and for that we cannot help. We love you brother. Bendición.” With that the both of them turned their backs on him.
Marko walked over to Wire and clapped him on his back. “Take care of your business son.” He turned and walked over to where the two brothers were.
Wire didn’t even wait until the men were out of the clubhouse before he put a bullet into Alejandro Vilanuevas head.
I walked over to him and watched as the light dimmed from his eyes. I would have good dreams with that image in my head.
Chapter 27
The uproar of happiness and relief that echoed through the building was deafening. It was finally fucking over. It seemed like a lifetime was ending and we could finally get back to what we all wanted to do with our lives instead of worrying about what was coming down the line.
I turned to look for Mikayla, for a moment I panicked because I didn’t see her right away. I knew she didn’t get hit, there was no way.
I relaxed when I saw her standing to the side, watching my brothers celebrate. A blissful smile on her face. Her nightmare was over too. I took a few strides towards her but something was off, not everyone was there celebrating. I looked around the room and I didn’t see Wire or Rooster. Both Presidents were missing. I took off outside and I could see the five of them standing there, Wire saw me come out of the clubhouse and waved me over.
“Everything good?” I asked hoping that the Vilanuevas brothers weren’t going to give us any trouble.
“No worries. What was done, needed to be done.”
“It’s sad, he was our younger brother but our family doesn’t do things that way.”
“So this is it, you’ll leave our town alone? Our clubs?” Wire asked his voice heavy.
“Si. We don’t need any trouble here on this side of the water. Selling women was never something we wanted to do. Alejandro thought he could pull it off. He was wrong it would seem.” One of the brothers put their hand out for Wire, “You will have no retaliation from us, that is our word. What’s done is done.”
Wire put his hand out and he shook it sealing the deal.
“Pues, we are not in a very happy time right now so we will take our leave.”
“Wait!” I called out again, not my place but I had to know.
They both turned back to look at me. “A few of our people went missing, one of them just a small child. Would you have any knowledge of where they might be?”
They looked at each other for a moment before turning back towards me. “Lo siento, we don’t know. Unfortunately, our brothers reach was as wide as ours so he could have sent them anywhere. We will ask our people but there is no guarantee that we will find them, knowing my brother though, they are already dead. Again I’m sorry.” They shrugged it off and walked away. There was nothing more I could do. There was no one else to ask. The one man who knew exactly where they were was dead in the middle of our clubhouse.
Wire stepped to me. I was starting to crumble, we had won a great victory here but without my brothers or my Angel I didn’t feel like I had actually won anything. Wire grabbed me by the back of the neck and pressed his forehead to mine.
“We will fucking find them, it’s our only priority now. Finding our people. Don’t give up on them. I know they aren’t giving up on us.”
I picked up my fist and brought it down on Wire’s shoulder, the man was keeping me grounded. He was keeping me in the game. I pulled back from my president and nodded at him once. He was right. We would find them one way or another.
Chapter 28
I walked back in and I had to turn my head as I watched Tex do some truly fucked up things to Vilanuevas body. Some folks were laughing, others were drinking, the majority of people were hugged up with their loved ones.
The bunnies and families were called back from the trailers. Now that the threat was over, everyone was free to come back home.
Of course right away Clean had the music bumping and the portable stripper poles brought out. Alejandro’s body still in the middle of the damn floor. I watched Devin go behind the bar and start setting up to serve. His face still ragged from the mess that we had just gone through but a smile on his lips none the less.
I looked over in the corner, Storm and Vida were going at it. They were kissing and pawing at each other without a care in the world that others were watching or that Tex was probably somewhere videotaping the whole thing. It actually stopped me in my tracks, I knew that Ink and Vida were a thing, a new relationship but I knew that they were together. Then it dawned on me.
They were hurting.
I could understand. Storm was without his twin brother and Vida lost her man and little sister. The immediate danger may have been over with but they still didn’t have any answers, so they were looking for relief through each other. I don’t think anyone would fault them for that. People gt through shit the best way they knew how and at the moment that was their best way.
I kept on walking and made my way up to my room to find Mikki, sitting there waiting for me.
My Mikayla.
I smiled and walked over to my woman. My second chance at life.
“It’s over Mikki. It’s all over.”
“No, it’s just starting. It’s just the beginning.” Mikki reached up pulled me down towards her. “A few weeks ago,” she nuzzled up to my ear, “there were explicit talks of a baby.”
I couldn’t help but smile, I had no idea if or when it would happen for us but I was more than ready to give it my best try.
Epilogue- Rooster
“Rooster, everything straight?” Shepard walked up to me.
“Claro!” I said as I wrapped him up in a hold and walked through the party with him. Wire and his crew were good allies to have. They were ready to kill, ready to lie and cheat if they had to but all of them had a conscience. They were small time, wanting to uphold the law and shit. The Spawns, my brothers were for a different life.
The law had done nothing but get in our way since before I could remember. Now with the Wings in our corner, a former cop on the squad and a town free of all outside influences we could stack our paper.
“Shepard. This town is ripe for the picking.”
He looked up at me, not confused, just waiting instruction. It would be nothing for me to tell him to put a bullet in Wire’s head right now. “We taking them out?”
“No, never. They are a part of us now. They don’t want to know about the need this town has. We could supply to this whole t
own and no one would even look up. They are sitting on a motherfucking goldmine here, especially with those Vilanuevas assholes gone.”
“You want to set up shop? We could have a chemist here in a few days. The product up and out within two weeks.”
“No, I don’t want to put a location here but we can start shuffling some shit in.” I looked around the clubhouse I was in and it felt like a hallmark movie all sappy and shit. “They want to play with the bad boys, let’s show them what the fuck this life is really about.”
Epilogue - Prez
I felt like I was living déjà vu.
I combed my hair back and made sure that my kutte was wiped down. My new founder patch still fresh from the embroiderer. Wire deserved to be President, he brought us back from the darkness, I was happy just being one of the founding members of this club.
I looked in the mirror one last time and made my way out of my room. I walked out to the massive group of people in the main area but something steered me away from where I was supposed to be going. There were new faces, a whole new chapter up in Maine, a growing one in New Orleans led by Archer and new family members joining the fold all the time. We were no longer the little club of the past, now everyone knew who the Wings of Diablos were.
It had been a year since we got rid of that bastard Alejandro Vilanuevas, we still had yet to find our missing people. Every time Clean thought he was getting closer to finding something it ended up in a dead end. I would never give up looking though, I would do anything to find my brother. To find my Angel, even if it was to just lay their bodies to rest.
“Devin, brother, I need ten minutes.” He gave me a look.
“You not running are you, I really don’t want to be here if you are.”
I shook my head, “Not on my life. I just have to go see someone first.”
He nodded as I made my way to the back of the compound where we had a small memorial area. All of our fallen members and family were laid there, their marble headstones formed straight lines and there was one I needed to see before I did what I had to do today.
My Laura.
I bent down to wipe some dirt off her headstone, the flowers that I had placed there last week still bright and fresh. “Laura, my love, I don’t know how the fuck to do this.” I looked up to the sky for guidance, “Laura I love you, I will always love you. You know that. I need to move on. Mikayla is a good person, she takes care of me, she sees me. I know you would like her if you knew her. I hope that I make you proud and that you will love us from where you are. Don’t leave me because I need you now more than ever. Being married to you was one thing, but marrying Mikki is a whole other beast. I need to be strong.”
It didn’t take long for Mikki to come up pregnant, I mean we were going at it like wild rabbits. At first she said that she was good with our arrangement. That she knew that I loved her and she loved me, she told me that was all she needed. Closer and closer to her due date though, I began to see the change. Not anger but disappointment and sadness. Apparently when she said it didn’t matter to her, it really did. She wanted to be married to me but didn’t want to force me to do something that I didn’t want to do. I knew I loved her and I was more than ready to make her my ol’ lady. That is why two weeks before her due date she was upstairs in one of the rooms putting her maternity jeans on and wife beater so she could come down and be my wife. We already had already been to the court house and had the official papers but now I had to go make it official with my brothers.
“I am sorry I failed you Laura, I will do my best to be a better husband this time around, I love you.” I kissed my fingers and placed them on the cool marker.
I stood up and looked at the back door where I could see Clean standing there looking anxious. Mikki had become real knife happy in her final weeks of pregnancy, no one wanted to get on her bad side. He was supposed to keep me in the clubhouse, she would cut him if she found out I was out of his vision.
I walked back in and stood in my place. I was ready for this. I had never been surer of anything in my life.
I looked up the stairs as Mikki walked out, Maven and Keeley fluffing her hair up before she took Vida’s hand. They both walked down the stairs together. I couldn’t stop the grin that split my face. She was gorgeous. Wobbling down the stairs, her womb full with my child, her big bright eyes glistening with unshed happy tears.
I gave Vida a kiss as I took her sisters hand from her, I hoped she knew that I would forever protect them, all of them.
I walked with my beautiful woman and stood in front of Wire and the rest of the higher ups.
Déjà vu, except it was me on this side.
“I call to order today a club church meeting. We have matters to discuss.” Everyone yelled and clapped, confetti and other various materials already being thrown in the air. Wire put his hand up to silence the crowd.
“Prez, Alex, Co-founder of our mother club, you have been through hell and have come out on top. You are everything we all strive to be. Now you have come to us to ask that Mikayla aka Mikki be inducted into this family.”
I turned my head to her, “You bet your ass I do.” I said loud enough for everyone to hear.
The crowd erupted again, even Wire couldn’t hold back his joyous laughter.
“Mikki, do you swear to uphold our laws and protect this club, before anyone else?” Wire asked her.
“I do!” She replied loudly.
“Do you realize that this life is not for the weak or the unsure. There is no leaving once you are in.”
Again she replied, “I do.”
I had said these same words to him and Keeley.
Fuck, I am so damn proud.
“Does anyone have any reason she shouldn’t be accepted as our family.”
Wire didn’t even get a chance to get the full question out of his mouth. My brothers and their queens screamed and clapped so loud it was nearly deafening. They were glad to see my happy ending.
“So it is done!” Wire yelled out. “Prez, claim your woman.”
I pulled her into me and kissed her hard, my hand gripping her hair. I pulled back only a bit and got the chain out of my pocket. The chain that she would wear for the rest of her life, that had our logo on it and my name. Everyone that would see it would know, that she was my woman.
It was a full party, no club bunnies but even the patched in members were dancing and having a good time. Clean made sure that everyone he could invite he did and they all showed.
I couldn’t believe that I was lucky enough to have two people in my lifetime that would make me so happy. I didn’t think it was possible for my karma to be that good, yet here I was looking into Mikki’s eyes, on cloud nine.
I looked at her round belly and her breasts that were threatening to pop right out of that wife beater with every move that she made.
“You’re so fucking sexy.” I growled in her ear. I bent down and started sucking on her neck. It didn’t take long for her to start pulling on my shirt. If she was insatiable before, pregnant the woman was an absolute animal. I actually had to hide some nights because she wanted to mess around so much. I felt like a used piece of meat. I complained but deep down I loved every second of it.
“Don’t play, you know I want…” She stopped mid sentence and pushed me away.
I couldn’t believe it, for the first time ever she was pushing me away.
“Well fuck me.” She said and let her head fall back.
“Erm, that is what I was trying to do.” I joked as I tried to move back in to suck on her neck.
She smacked me on my chest hard.
“Ow, what the fuck.” I exclaimed.
She put a hand up in my face to stop me from talking and then she pointed down.
I looked at the wet mark trailing down her pants.
Aww, the poor baby peed on herself.
I started to laugh, all she had to do was tell me she had to go to the bathroom. Until she put her hand on my chest and fisted my shirt, a deep groan le
aving her mouth. She was in pain.
“Oh. What the fuck?” I stepped back while she held onto the chair behind her.
My brain had officially vacated the premises.
“Oh my god!”
“Oh shit!” Clean called out from where he was dancing with Maven.
“Alex, are you ok?” Mikki asked standing right in front of me. I tried to reply. I tried to shake it off but my brain just would not work.
She gripped the chair again and this time a loud scream exited her mouth. The music was shut off and every man in the house took a few extra steps towards the door. Keeley came running over along with the rest of the wives and women that were in attendance.
I thought I had said something, but nope, nothing came out.
Maven stepped in my face and snapped a few times, it was annoying but I couldn’t even say.
“Wire! Prez is broken.” She yelled out before she went back to tend to Mikki who seemed to go from fine to grunting and screaming every thirty seconds.
“Hey!” Wire was suddenly in front of me trying to shake me out of whatever the hell was happening to me. “Bro, I’m going to need you to find your sack. Immediately. You about to be a poppa.”
I heard a whimper. “Alex.”
That sound always cut straight through to my senses.
I ran straight to her, all my nerves and fears already out the door.
Maven looked up at me from where she was kneeling down near Mikki’s feet. She had on jeans but I looked down and could see the blood blooming on the light colored jeans.
Something was wrong.
I looked back up at my brothers and I could see the worry and strength in each and every one of their eyes. Wire caught my gaze and it felt like he was willing his strength to me.
“Let’s go!” He mouthed to me, not to leave but more to get my ass into gear. Shit needed to be done, right then. No time to think, now was the time to react.
“Mikayla, Ok. There is a bit of blood. It’s going to be fine.”
