  He snorted. “No. Now hurry.”

“I don’t take orders from you, Sebastian Steel,” I smirked.

“Oh yeah?” He leaned on the kitchen counter and stood straight as he prowled toward me.

  “Yeah,” I answered, inching backwards.

He ran toward me, grabbing me and lifting me up, throwing me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He tickled my waist and I squirmed.

  “Bash! Put me down!”

“You’re taking a shower.” He smacked my ass and carried me to the bathroom.

Sometimes he was such an Alpha.

Sebastian drove me to a neighborhood in Brooklyn that was lined with brownstones. The houses were similar to one another, although there were a few that boasted different facades and styles. But all of them had a stoop that led up to the door. We stopped in front of one and Bash put the car in park.

“What are we doing here?” I asked curiously as I followed him out of the car.

“You’ll see,” Bash answered vaguely as he walked up the few steps, pulled a key from his pocket, and opened the door. He held it open for me and I walked in.

As soon as my eyes adjusted to the light, my jaw dropped. It was beautiful; completely modernized, compared to the outside. There was still some construction being done, but the space was huge. I walked further inside and saw the kitchen’s stainless-steel appliances, French doors that led to another room, and industrial light fixtures hanging throughout that gave the space such a cool vibe.

“What’s going on, Bash?” I croaked, whirling back to face him. He was standing by the staircase that led to the upstairs floors. “Bash?”

“I bought it,” he answered, watching me warily.

“You what?!” I shrieked, my eyes bulging. “What about the warehouse?”

“We’re rebuilding one just around the corner. I won’t be far. It’s literally a two-minute walk.”

My brows furrowed. I didn’t understand. Why would he buy a house if they were rebuilding the warehouse? And why would they move the warehouse?

“Why? Why not rebuild the one in the old location? Why are you moving?”

Bash stepped forward and grabbed my hands, and I noticed his were shaking.

“Because it’s time, Mackenzie. This isn’t just for me. It’s for us.” Those blue eyes penetrated my soul and I was frozen in place. “It’s time we start thinking about a family.”

And there was the bucket of ice water that drenched me from head to toe.

  Here we fuckin’ go.

  Acknowledgments

I have a lot of people to thank. My family first and foremost. My mom is my number one supporter, without her I couldn’t do any of this. Next, my tribe of authors — Becca Vincenza, HD Gordon, Janelle Stalder, Stacey Rourke. In one way or another, you’ve all helped me complete this book whether by helping with the blurb or just emotional support. Thank you to my best friend Daniella Brooks for the many nights of writing sessions and helping me plot out parts of this book.

And last, but not least, my readers. Thank you for your unconditional support and motivation. Without you, none of this would be possible.
