Victor's Girl: A Mafia Romance

The old woman turned around and stomped away without waiting for her response. Ira’s smile dropped and a gloom washed over her. This was the second time something like this had happened to her today and she did not understand why. ‘Maybe you are just having a bad day? The tiny voice in her head tried to offer her a reasonable excuse but she was way too tired to think anything straight.

“I would not take that personally,” Suhas told her as he walked up to her with a soft smile playing around his lips.

Ira managed to smile back at him, “I was just doing my job.” she complained, sounding almost disappointed. She was the only one here who would go out of her way to help someone and when she is complimented for it she would simply brush it off saying that she was only doing her job. But not everyone appreciated her generosity.

“I know, but not everybody appreciates our efforts. Anyway, sorry for making you stay up late the other day. I want to make it up to you for it, how about I buy you dinner after work?” he offered, he had been thinking of asking her out for a while but never did gather the courage for it until this morning.

Ira’s lips pressed into a thin line; Kajal had warned her about this a while back but she hadn’t believed her then. She awkwardly tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Thanks for the offer but I have other plans for the night,” she replied with an apologetic look in her eyes.

She was not completely lying here, she did have plans after work and her plans included going to her second job. His face dropped and for a minute she felt like shit. This is exactly why people say never mix personal life with professional life, it would simply complicate things.

He closed his eyes and let out an audible sigh, getting the clear message of rejection. “It’s okay, some other day then,” he told her but she did not respond. She knew that there was not going to be some other time here but she chose to not tell him that.

“Cool, see you later then, I need to finish this up, my shift will end soon,” she told him and he chuckled. “That sounds good, see you around later.” he walked off in the opposite direction without waiting for her response, guess she just lost a friend. Shaking her head she got back to her job and busied herself with work for the next thirty minutes.

She had just finished up her shift when she was summoned to the manager's office and she started to wonder if she had done something wrong. She walked to the staff room and changed into her regular clothes. Her shift was over and she was in no mood to do overtime again and he would let her go if he saw that she was no longer in her uniform.

“Ira, I asked you to see me in my office.” her manager’s booming voice dragged her out of her thoughts and she almost jumped out of her skin. His sudden intrusion had startled her to the core and for a minute she forgot that this was a ladies changing room and he was not supposed to be in here. How did he even get inside when she had locked the door?

His eyes shamelessly roamed over her body like she was a piece of meat and Ira had never seen him like this before. Of course, he was a bit of a player and would often find him flirting with other girls but never once had he done something like this, at least not to her. “This is a ladies restroom, you are not supposed to be here,” she demanded, her voice quivering, a part of her had already sensed what was going on.

She took a step back secretly glad that she was not in a compromising position in front of him. She was done changing her clothes and was just grabbing her stuff when he had shown up. He took another step towards her, his eyes blazing something so unfamiliar that it sent chills down her spine.

“You know, I was hoping to get a nice view of that gorgeous body of yours. Shame, I have to take the trouble of undressing you myself.” he slurred, his words reeking of drunken madness.

What the hell is he saying? Has he come here drunk again? Ira wondered she held onto her backpack as her life depended on it.

She worked at a club filled with gangsters and mafia men and yet nobody had ever done something like this to her. She took a cautious step back trying her best to put as much distance as she could between them. But he just laughed at her feeble attempt to escape. He knew that she had no way of escape, that’s exactly why he had chosen this spot.

“Don’t you dare come near me,” she warned him, her tone trembling with fear. He raised an eyebrow, “then what love? What will you do? I’m not asking you to do something you don’t already do. Taking your clothes in front of men on stage.” A shiver ran down her spine as she realized what he was referring to.

“My friends dragged me to this club named Liquid Silk last night they said they have the best girls in town and I did not believe them but when I saw you on stage last night wearing nothing but that scanty lingerie I realized how wrong I was. I never thought behind the skin of a shy timid girl hides a beautiful seductress.” she stopped paying attention to his rants and started to find her way out of here.

She quickly typed an SOS text to Kajal who was waiting for her outside, demanding her to come and help her and started to scan her surroundings trying to find an alternative way of escape, but there was none. She should have left the side window open at least she could have cried for help but now she was trapped here with this psycho who was drunk and out of his wits.

“Look, I don’t care if you saw me at Liquid Silk. I work there; the peanuts you pay me here does not pay for my mother’s cancer treatment. You have no right to treat me like this.” she shouted, not letting her ground slip. She did not like what she did for a living but she was certainly not ashamed of it. She earned an honest living and nobody could take that away from her.

He threw his head back and let out a throaty laugh, “Oh is it? Then why haven’t you mentioned it in our records?” She lowered her gaze knowing what he was hinting at.

He took another step towards her and she took two steps back. “I...um…” she trailed off not knowing what to say to him.

“Come on Princess, let’s put this cat and mouse game aside. I know what you are and if I want I can get you fired for that, and we both know you can’t afford that now can you?” he backed her up against the wall and put his hands on her side blocking her chance of escape. He ran his hand on the side of her waist and a shiver of disgust washed over her.

“You have the body of a seductress, I can make you feel so good, I can give you so much pleasure that you will scream my name.” he rasped seductively. He leaned down to kiss her lips but she averted her face not letting him put his disgusting mouth on her.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she tried to wriggle out of his hold but he pinned both her hands against the wall with his body pressed against hers. “Sir please let me go,” she pleaded, her voice laced with fear. He brushed his finger over her lips and she shuddered in disgust. He roughly grabbed her face and was just about to crash his mouth on hers when he was plucked off her and slammed into the tiled floor.

He glared at his attacker and his eyes went wide in horror as he saw his face. Victor hovered over him like a dark angel ready to claim his soul. But he was not here for his soul; he was here for blood, the blood of the bastard who had dared to put his disgusting paws on his girl. The bastard looked terrified like he had already seen what was about to come for him.

He tried to crawl away from the man who glared at him with bloodlust clear in his eyes. Victor took a step towards him trapping his trembling hands under his boot breaking his fingers one by one. The middle-aged man cried out in pain as he crushed those disgusting fingers that dared to taint his angel.

“This is for putting your hands on my angel.” he snarled as he bent down and grabbed him by his collar, effortlessly pulling him back to his feet.

He threw a hard punch at his face and the man once again landed on his ass. “Who are you and why are you…” he threw another punch at his face not letting him finish his statement.

One glance at his Angel and the look on her face was enough for him to throw a hard punch on his face and then another and then another until he could no longer f
eel his hand. He fisted his hair and bashed his head against the hard tiled floor and was just about to throw another punch when his men started to fill into the tiny room forming a protective circle around them.

Kevin stepped forward, his eyes glued to the half-dead man rolling on the floor as Victor kept punching him black and blue. He had never seen him this mad before and it scared him to the core. He shifted his gaze to the scared looking girl backed up against the wall with her eyes shut and he didn’t have to guess what was going on.

Sucking in a deep breath he stepped forward knowing that he was the only person who could get Victor away from the man before he kills him. “Let him go, Victor, we will take care of him,” he told him, his tone calm but uncertain. Victor turned around and glared at him. “Don’t you dare get in the middle of this? I’m going to kill this bastard.” he snarled at him, his face red with rage.

Kevin ran his fingers through his hair as he tried to think of something. His eyes found the answer to his question. She was still backed up against the wall watching everything with tear-stained eyes. Victor followed his gaze for a minute and his eyes landed on his angel.

She looked so scared and fragile that his heart broke to see her like that. Wait, his heart? But Victor does not have a heart. But a part of him had already started to realize that he did have a heart and she was standing right in front of him.

  CHAPTER 12

Victor threw one last punch at the bastard and then let his men take charge of the situation. His angel needed him now and she was all that mattered. One look at her was all that he needed to let go of everything and go to her. Her wide fear-filled eyes called out to him, begging him to protect her from the horrors of this world and he promised himself that he would never let anything happen to her, ever.

She rushed to him and wrapped her arms around him and he held her in his arms as she burst into tears. He gently stroked her hair and placed a soft kiss on her hair as he let her cry in his arms. This was the first and last time he was seeing her like this, from now on he was not going to let even a single tear roll down her cheeks.

He waited patiently as she sobbed in his arms, God it was such a relief to see that she was alright. He closed his eyes and sucked in a deep breath as her sobs started to die down to slow sniffs and she finally began to calm down. “You saved my life,” she murmured against his chest and he gently patted her back. “I will not let anything happen to you Angel, I will always protect you no matter what happens,” he told her and yes he meant it.

She gently pulled away from him and disappointment washed over him. “Thank you,” she told him softly, her eyes twinkling with something he had never seen before. He smiled down at her, “You don’t have to thank me for anything, Angel. I will always protect you.” she watched him with wide questioning eyes and he could read it without a sweat.

“Can I ask you something?” She asked him softly.

  He nodded.

“Why are you here?” she asked him and regretted it almost immediately. He had just saved her life and she was asking him what he was doing there.

Victor had asked himself the same question several times but he never got an answer for it. He had been restless all day, call it his gut feeling but he had been having uneasy thoughts about her all day and had ended up driving down here himself instead of sending one of his boys.

He wanted to make sure that she was alright; He knew that her shift was about to end in some time and had hoped to get a glimpse of her beautiful face in her natural element. Though he loved the sexy seductress he watched on the stage it’s not her that he craved for, it was this sweet innocent girl in her that he desired.

He gently placed his hands around her shoulder and crashed her into his rock hard chest, possessively wrapping his arms around her burying his face in her lustrous hair inhaling a whiff of her soft sweet scent and his senses began to clog. The wildfire brewing in his heart started to burn bright and strong and he had to pull away from her just so that he could hold himself right.

He gently cupped her face and she watched him with wide innocent eyes. She was a beautiful-beautiful girl and most importantly she was his girl. “Are you alright, baby?” he asked her, his voice unusually soft, so soft that it almost caressed her soul. She clung to him like her life depended on him, maybe it did, and a part of her she hoped it did.

“I’m alright, a little shaken but I will live.” she squeaked, her voice barely a whisper. He gently brushed her hair away from her beautiful face and a soft sigh escaped her lips. He let his hand rest on her soft cheeks and her cheeks instantly heated up leaving a pinkish tint on her cheeks. He wondered if the rest of her body would heat up like this when he touched the rest of her. He would love to find that out but in due time.

Shaking his head he tried to drag his attention back to her. “Did he hurt you?” he spat out, though his anger was not directed towards her. She shook her head. He leaned into her and gently brushed his lips on hers completely aware of the audience he was having. He knew that what he was doing had consequences but he was ready for it; it was time that everybody knew about them.

“You are my girl Angel and nobody hurts my girl. I will protect you no matter what happens.” her eyes moistened at his words; she knew he was telling the truth, she could see it in his eyes. She was distracted by the commotion around them and she forced her gaze away from him for just a minute.

Victor’s men were beating the shit out of him, not that he did not deserve it. Guys like him deserve to be beaten up like this so that the next time they don't do something like this to any other girl. “Don’t worry, he’ll be taken care of, he will not hurt you ever again,” he assured her and she did not doubt him, not even for a single moment.

“Are you going to kill him?” she asked him softly and the corner of his mouth curled into a smirk, “Do you want me to?” he asked her, raising a perfect brow at her and she frantically shook her head making him chuckle, “He has a family and two small children,” she told him and he was not surprised by her response. His angel was way too kind to wish harm for anybody even if that moron had just tried to violate her.

“That bastard tried to hurt you and yet you are worried about his family?” he asked her, unable to hold back his curiosity. He wanted to know how someone could be so kind that they could forgive someone so easily. Ira blinked at him with a disapproving look on her face and his smile widened.

She closed her eyes and let out a heavy sigh, “I don’t want any other family to go through what my family had to go through after Papa died.” she told him honestly. Victor saw the pain in her eyes and he knew that his angel had had a difficult life; a life filled with pain and hardship, but not anymore. He was going to take care of her well. He would not let even faint memories of those dark days haunt her.

He once again leaned down and kissed her beautiful mouth letting his lips taste her sweetness. He gently pulled away and her lips curled into a pout and he wanted to pin her against the wall and kiss those pouting lips but he put that thought on hold.

“I’ll be taking you home now angel, you’ve had a long day and you need rest and sleep; Angels need sleep too you know.” she blushed at his reference and a soft smile touched his lips.

He took her old grey backpack from her hand and shrugged it over his left shoulder and offered his hand to her and she took it without a second thought. He exchanged a look with Kevin who had probably been watching the whole scene and noticed a weird uncertainty in his eyes but he ignored it. For now all that mattered was his angel.

All eyes were on them as they stepped into the brightly lit supermarket. It was now that she realized what sort of a mess she had created. She was holding the hands of the most dangerous man in the city and yet there was no ounce of fear she could feel. She held her chin up, she was Victor’s girl and there was no denying it anymore.

She spotted Kajal standing by the door watching the commotion with her jaws down. Ira waved goodbye to her and she just blinked in response.
She wanted to laugh at her over-reaction but she has always been the overreacting one so it was perfectly fine. She loved the attention they received; at least now people know who she belonged to.

His Audi waited for them outside the small supermarket looking totally out of place in the middle-class neighborhood. He unlocked the car and held the passenger door out for her and she graciously accepted his invitation. He helped her buckle up and got into the driver's seat and brought the car to life. He turned towards her and the memory of the kiss they had shared on this very spot came backwashing over him and he had to push it all away.

“I’m going to drive you home and you are going to rest like a good little angel.” she gave him her most beautiful smile and nodded in response. He wanted to take her out for dinner but he had to get back to work and he knew that if he spent more time with her his resistance would fade away and he might end up taking her to bed for good.

They drove in silence and for the first time, the silence did not bother him one bit. He was completely aware of her soft breathing, he was aware of the shy glances she kept throwing at him now and then, thinking he was not watching.

He sneaked a glance at her and found her staring out of the open window, another request she had made tonight after asking him to spare the lowlife.

Her hair was all brushed over her shoulder and the wind rustled through her hair letting her lustrous strand dance to its tune. She had a soft smile playing on her angel-like face and his heart fluttered. There you go his heart again; Victor does not have a heart, period. But that was a lie and he knew it.

The soft skin of her slightly exposed cleavage glistened under the city lights and his body grew tense. Even with the windows rolled down he could still smell her intoxicating scent. She smelt heavenly and he was dying to bury himself deep inside her and let himself drown in her serene ecstasy.
