SHARK (Shifter Kings Nashville Book 3)
Page 10
Jules’ body visibly locks, and she’s nodding her head.
“Alright, think we’ve had enough,” Poison says. “Some of us don’t have queens to work shit out with.”
The way he says it, we all feel that.
It’s Lion who grips him around the neck and whispers the name, “Doc” in his ear.
Poison’s face lightens and I see he’s smiling. Still, he sounds sure when he says, “Nah, she’s got a wolf she’s seeing.”
“Simeon?” Spider asks, apparently more of a gossip than I’ve ever realized.
Poison nods. “Yeah.”
“She thinks that’s smart?” I ask, now gossiping myself. “He’s not—”
It’s Mom who cuts me off. “Not here, Shark.”
I read her look. Some things shouldn’t be said in front of humans, especially in a police station with men and women trained to pay attention.
Nodding, I follow the group to the parking lot and to the one car that brought them. Two back seats mean my parents have a lot of room. None of us guys are exactly small though.
“No way all of us are going to be able to squeeze in there,” Poison comments. “I was near suffocated on the way here.”
Lexie holds up a hand and breaks out her phone before dialing a number and putting it to her ear.
Someone picks up and says, “Hey, Lex.”
“Hey, Rache, future green-haired lady of awesomeness. I need you to take a trip with me and a bunch of weirdos like us. Wanna earn a good tip and more money toward L.A.?” she asks strangely.
Lexie nods. “Cool, cool.” She rattles off the address of the police station and laughs when the woman on the other end of the line says, “Police station, Lexie? You going to explain that shit?” Again, Lexie nods. “Soon as you get here. Think of it as a carrot. I’m dangling it in wait of your angelic presence.” Before the other woman can hang up, Lexie says, “Oh, wait, pick up our girl on the way. I’ll text her quick. Tell her to pack an overnight bag. She knows where we’re at.”
The other woman hangs up but not before saying, “Sure thing, Lex.”
Lexie holds up a finger, and I look over her shoulder to see she’s texting Henry.
Facing Jules, she winks and says, “Okay, you’re all good to get back to your newly married-ness.” Then, she turns to Rudy. “You need to go back inside. Officer Tompson is off in an hour. He told me so while you went off to get some coffee and we were waiting.” Then, on another heel turn, she says to Poison. “And um, can you do me a favor?”
Poison nods but weirdly comments, “Between you and Jules, although I haven’t met Chanty yet, only seen her in spider form and that was pretty fucking amazing, it’s hard for me to pick a favorite queen.”
“Good,” my own queen states, ignoring his statement and focusing on his nod. She’s on a mission. “I got a call while we were inside. Sera’s with Wolf. They need us. Nothing too serious,” Lexie adds quickly at the worried glances she gets, “But well, a grouchy wolf and a Sea witch. I’m thinking that’s going to be interesting. So, I need you to give me directions.”
Poison shakes his head, and smirks. I grin at my queen and then at Lion, Spider, and Poison. I don’t even know the whole story yet, but it’s only been three hours since Sera’s disappearance. She’s with Wolf, and there’s something in my gut that says my friend’s about to find someone who can get under his skin more than his history has.
“I’m coming,” Poison declares, his voice serious even though he’s smiling.
“That works. Easier to get there if you know where the hell we’re going.”
“Your friend’s car big enough for the rest of us?” Lion asks.
Lexie shakes her head. “I know he’s one of your best friends, but my gut’s telling me you can’t all be there. A few of you need to be here.”
Lion and Spider hold her gaze for a moment, but Lexie doesn’t budge. She’s a queen. A fucking beautiful, magnificent, powerful woman. And she’s mine.
I touch her hip. “We need to get our stuff too, babe. Can’t walk around in a borrowed shirt and board shorts in Gatlinburg. Small towns are chill but not that chill.”
I see her text out the next words when she bends her head toward her phone.
Lexie: We need to stop at Shark’s place.
She looks to Poison. “You need to get some clothes too?”
“I’ve got some shit at Wolf’s cabin but yeah, I need to grab something.”
Lexie quickly texts: Okay, so change in plans. Me and the Sharkster need to hit his place since all my stuff is there, but Poison also needs to pop by his own place to get some things.
The reply is instant.
Green-haired Goddess: How about I pick you up first since guitar hero’s just started packing and you’re closer? I’ll drop you and this Shark guy off, drop off Poison, get guitar hero, get Poison, then round back your and Shark’s way.
Lexie: Sounds good. You got clothes?
Green-haired Goddess: Bags are packed for L.A. You lit a fire under my ass the other day. So, yeah, I’m good. And little bro is staying at his friend’s today and through the weekend.
Lexie sends back a smiley face emoji.
“Set,” she announces. “You can all skedaddle now.”
They do. Scattering, Rudy after giving Lexie a long hug I choose not to let bother me, Lion, Spider, Jules, and my parents getting in the SUV. We hug, clasp hands, and they’re on their way.
The woman who shows up has pink hair, not green.
She drops us off at my cottage.
But as soon as we get inside, Lexie doesn’t mess around. And it’s not with packing.
She jumps me. Her legs are around my waist, her hands in my hair and at my neck. Mine move to her ass to hold her up, one sliding up her back and into her hair. The length of it gets caught in my fingers, so I grip and twist it until it’s tight in my hands. Then, tugging, I pull her mouth from mine but only so I can kiss my way down her throat and lower us to the area rug in the entryway.
And there’s no other way to describe it: we crash into each other.
Her clothes melt away from her body.
“Neat trick, nerd.”
She winks. “It’s queen nerd to you, felon.”
Dragging my shorts off, kicking off my sandals, and lowering my body, I hold her eyes as I enter her slowly. Painfully slow, it’s torture, a glorious torture, one I want never to end.
“Felon king,” I correct. I mean to say it playfully but it comes out rough.
“My king,” she whispers, her eyes wet with tears.
I’m silent. No words. There are no words for that look in her eyes, the feel of her pussy surrounding my cock, our bodies melting together as the world goes still around us.
She doesn’t say, “Oh.”
I don’t make jokes.
We are. Just are. Just silent. In this moment, nothing but silence and a crashing of souls.
My thrusts are steady but deep. Her hands along my lower back draw circles that mean my balls tighten, my dick hardens further as it pushes in as far as it can go. Still steady. Still driving into her grasping pussy.
Black eyes like the fathomless depths of water hold fast to my own. In her eyes are the mysteries of the universe. I want to spend my life uncovering those mysteries. Uncovering her depths as I cover her with my body.
With her eyes widening and her, “Oh,” sounds, I feel her pussy grip tight to my cock. Rhythmically, pulling from me, coercing me toward climax. I dive forward into the black water, coming harder than I ever have. Balls tightening, hips bucking, head thrown back, I groan loudly, feeling a rush I’ve never experienced.
My, “Fuck me, babe, that was so goddamned perfect” is met with a long sigh.
She’s content. She’s happy. She’s just coherent enough.
“Hey, nerd, got a question.”
“Hmmm?” she sort of mumbles.
“A question,” I repeat.
She nods but barely, her eyes now closed, her body l
anguid on my entryway floor.
So, I ask. “Wanna move in with me?”
“Of course,” she replies, her voice slurred.
Good enough. I chuckle and that’s when her black eyes open and I see her face light up.
“Water sex,” she says.
“No time, nerd.”
She pouts. “Surfer dude, it’s a basic human need to have sex—”
“You’re not human. You’re a witch.”
She tilts her head.
“Huh.”
I shake my head, tweak her nose, and chuckle. “Ass up, babe. We still need to pack and we’ve lost twenty minutes.”
She waves off my statement. “It takes me like ten minutes to pack and Henry’s place is thirty minutes away.”
I see it in her eyes, and fuck but I can’t help it.
Grinning, she says, “Race you to the river.”
Yes, the part that abuts my land. A part of the river that’s still closed down.
“Lexie, I just got out of the clinker for being in the water when I wasn’t supposed to be—”
“Pish tosh,” she declares cutely with another wave of her hand. “We’ll be okay.”
Then, she’s off, toward the back door. I see her bathing suit forming like magic right before the door opens and she’s out of it, running along the path.
I give her a head start.
Then, I dive into a life full of trouble.
I am a shark after all.
Better to ask forgiveness than permission.
Water sex with a Sea witch by the by?
Fucking unreal.
