  Lucy loves reading almost as much as she loves fixing other people’s problems, so starting a book club seems like the perfect opportunity to do both. As she meets her new members, it’s clear she’s going to have her work cut out for her. Handsome but silent Callum is the biggest puzzle of them all...

  * * *

  But Lucy’s meddling begins to cause more problems than it solves, and no one is more surprised than Lucy when Callum steps in to help. Could there be more to him than people think?

  * * *

  As Callum and Lucy start working together to fix the broken hearts of the library’s most loyal customers, the first sparks of romance begin to fly.

  * * *

  Can they right all the trouble Lucy has created, and might there be a chance for a happy ending of their own?

  An utterly uplifting, emotional page-turner that will bring tears to your eyes and a smile to your face. Perfect for fans of Jenny Colgan and Milly Johnson.

  A Letter from Emma

  I just wanted to say a huge personal thank you for reading The Little Cottage on The Hill. I hope you enjoyed making friends with everyone at Joy’s Acre as much as I did. If you want to stay updated on what’s coming next then please sign up to my newsletter here:

  I’m typing this letter from my little shed in the garden where I do all my writing. It’s the middle of winter, I have my heater on and a rug on my knees, plus my fluffy socks! Who said writing wasn’t glamorous? It’s freezing cold outside, but it’s always so heart-warming to know that people have read and enjoyed my books. Your comments really make my day, so thank you also for taking the time to leave a review, or a post on social media. Even a recommendation to anyone who’ll listen at the hairdresser’s is very much appreciated!

  From my shed I also have a wonderful view of the bird table with my little robin to keep me company as I look out across the garden. We haven’t long moved in to this house, so I’m really looking forward to seeing the changing seasons here from my little window on the world, and I think that’s one of the nicest things about writing a series of books, particularly ones which are seasonal – it gives me a wonderful opportunity to share all the things I love about each time of year with all my characters who, of course, by now have become firm friends. So, I hope you’ll join me for the next book in the series, where you can catch up with old friends, and make some new ones too. It’s been huge fun seeing what they’ve all got up to through summer, autumn and winter.

  I love hearing from readers, so do come and say hello. You can find me on Twitter and Facebook, or pop by my website where you can read about my love of Pringles and sign up to my newsletter, among other things…

  Hope to see you soon,

  The brilliant author, Paul Auster, once said about his writing that he was ‘just a man, sitting alone in a room, putting words on pieces of paper’. I’ve always loved that quote – it captures the very essence of what we writers do in a very humble way, but of course once the book is written then we welcome in a team of wonderful people who do wonderful things with the words we’ve put onto paper. I’ve very lucky to have such a team in Bookouture, and so huge thanks are due in particular to my brilliant (and very lovely) editor, Jessie Botterill, and the most amazing marketing duo out there, Kim Nash and Noelle Holten, whose dedication and support knows no bounds.

  Thank you also to the wonderfully supportive Bookouture authors who, just like any family, are always there through good times and not so good times. You really are the best – and funny too!

  Thanks of course also must go to my family, without whom, I like to joke, this book would have been written a lot faster, but who also put up with me disappearing to my shed in the garden at regular intervals, having to eat far too many pizzas and never complaining when it’s chips again for tea. They also very kindly remind me to come and join the real world every now and again.

  And lastly, thanks to my friends, and one in particular who is possibly, despite our conversational topics, the sanest person I know. Warm, witty and wise, your musical suggestions have rocked my writing cave on more than one occasion and our trips to Middle Distance and beyond have been some of the most memorable I’ve taken. Keep up the good work!
