Also, check out the anthology titled, The Will to Survive, containing short stories by several post-apocalyptic authors, including myself. My story had been rattling around in my head for years so I’ve finally decided to make it a novel or perhaps a short series. A glimpse of it is in the anthology. I got the idea one day while driving to work early in the morning along Interstate 10. As I was driving east, clouds appeared over the massive freeway exchange of I-10 and the 610 Loop. The radio was on, cars bumper to bumper, red taillights of cars in front of me were distracting, but all I could concentrate on were those clouds. An idea came to me at that moment about what would happen if those clouds were biological warfare instead of rain clouds.
So, a morning commute inspired the story.
I plan to release the first book in mid-2018, so if you want to be notified of the release, please send me an email at Chris.Pike123@aol.com.
I’m also thinking about a short series with Nico and Kate after they leave the Double H Ranch. I hope to release at least of one those in the series in 2018.

One last thing. Thank you, thank you, thank you for downloading this book. Without the support of readers like yourself, Indie publishing would not be possible.
I’ve received a lot of emails from my readers, and for those who have written me, you know I always answer your emails, and I don’t spam either.
An easy way to show your support of an Indie author is to write an honest review on Amazon. It does several things: It helps other readers make a decision to download the book. It also allows the author to understand what the readers want. For example, my readers asked for no F-bombs or adult situations. I listened and followed through with the requests. I’ve learned good writing and editing is extremely appreciated and I will always strive for that.
So please consider writing a review. It will be forever grateful. A few words or one sentence is all it takes.

I’ve had a lot of help along the way from some special people, first and foremost my husband, Alan. He was the brains behind the expert firearm and knife content in the book, and was my consultant on shootouts and how men would react in certain situations. Being a woman, I know how the ladies think and react, but not always the men.
When writing I use inspiration from my life, expand upon my experiences, and fictionalize them. The Gran Torino in the series was based on the car I had in college. I loved that car, and if there was one thing I could do over in my life, I’d keep that car. It was a light yellow, two-door V-8 engine, although it did not have an 8-track tape deck in it!
Writing a book is not a solitary undertaking, and many people have helped me. Special thanks go to those who have inspired, cheered, edited, proofed, provided cover art, formatted, legal advice, narrated, or were sounding boards: daughters Michelle and Courtney, son-in-law Cody, editor Felicia, narrator Kevin, proofer Mick, cover artist Hristo, friends Anne, Mikki, and Mary, formatter Kody, helicopter consultants Ken and Robert, wild boar consultants Francis, Steve, Jim, Mike, and Cliff. A very special thanks goes to you ladies and gents.
For my readers who have written me and have connected with me on Facebook, y’all are the best! You’ve encouraged me and have allowed me a glimpse into your lives. I am truly honored. Thank you. For anyone else who would like to connect with me, email me at Chris.Pike123@aol.com.
I’m on Facebook at Author Chris Pike.
So until next time, remember to read, enjoy, learn, and save some more food.
And regarding the ongoing theme in the EMP Survivor Series, remember the three Fs: Faith, Family, and Firearms.
Forever!
All the best,
Chris
