Tarnished Honor
by J. Lee Coulter
What is honor to a man? At what point does he trade his integrity?
Brighde was being sold to the highest bidder by her uncle…unbeknownst to her.
Connall was journeying home to Halkirk after two years of service with honors, to the king when their paths cross. His honor was everything to him. He lived and breathed it. But after meeting Brighde his integrity was to be tested.
After being presented with the offer, along with Stephen Ross, he knew he could not leave her to her fate. Ross was well known to go through a wife a year.
His honor demanded that he intervene and yet, to do so would mean bedding Brighde to force her into the marriage. Performing that act would make him appear to have no honor...no integrity. What will he do? What would you do? What is honor anyway...?
### About the Author
I was born in 1953 in a small town in Illinois to a broken home. As soon as I learned how to read I, basically, moved into our local library. I always enjoyed escaping to another world rather than live in mine. When I was old enough to be on my own I became a nomad and haven’t stopped traveling since. I have been married for twenty-eight years to the same man although we’ve been together for thirty-three. He is my best friend and thoroughly understanding of my need to see what’s on the other side of the hill. I couldn’t ask for more. My three kids are grown and living their own lives now. So it’s just me and my hubby, two cats, two dogs, two parakeets and three hermit crabs living down here in Alabama. I am new to the writing world. I’ve always escaped to someone else’s but I decided to try creating my own. My fondest wish is to take someone else out of their hectic life and let them visit the world I would have. Hopefully, they might wish to live there as well. I chose Scotland as my favorite country simply because of their endless struggles against their enemies even knowing it was probably hopeless. They never gave up through it all…they persevered to hold on to their freedom at all cost. When I researched my genealogy a few years back, I found through my grandparents a direct line to Robert The Bruce with a connecting line going back through King David to Malcolm III. I have traced these lines clear back to the Picts, Vikings and Ireland. These were all grandparents that I am very proud of. Since then I have continued researching the history and times that they lived in. I hope some of it reflects in my stories. Anyway, I just want to say…welcome to my world.
