The large king-sized bed was turned down exposing black silk sheets. The entire room was set up as a seduction scene and Brock was very thrilled at the prospect of what this night was going to bring. He watched as Portia set down the champagne and bowls on a nightstand. Then she turned to face him."Are you sure?" Brock asked her softly. "I'm very sure," Portia replied. He crossed the room and took her in his arms. His kisses this time were completely without restraint, as hers were. They each gave as much as they took, encouraging the flames of passion to burn even hotter. If either of them had planned for things to go slowly and gently, that was doomed to fail. Brock was careful not to damage Portia's dress but he undressed her pretty quickly. She pulled just as quickly at his clothes because she felt greedy. She wanted to put her hands on his nakedness and feast her eyes on it. Brock kissed her deeply and hungrily as he pushed her to the bed with his weight. Portia's hands were all over him, kneading his skin, until her hand reached his rigid manhood, which she guided to the spot between her legs. "Portia, oh, baby... not yet. I want to love you more..."She was going to protest. It has been too long and she wanted him inside her. But she moaned instead as she felt his lips and tongue sliding down her throat. she gasped and arched her back when as sensations exploded as he put her nipple inside his warm mouth to suckle at it like a baby, like he was drinking her milk. Then possessively kneaded her soft breasts with his hands. Alternating between each nipple, he aroused her so much she whimpered, wanting him in now. But he wasn't finished yet...Craving for more?Download and find out what happens next. Reinvention after loss is something we can all relate to. Who hasn't wanted to disconnect from everything while dealing with grief? No one can possibly relate to our daily struggle to gain normalcy again. That is why the main character in this story draws us in. Portia suffered a horrible tragedy two years prior to where the novel picks up. Her husband was tragically murdered while protecting her from an intruder. Not only did she lose her husband, she lost the child she was carrying at the time. We really don't blame her for wanting to dismiss her 30th birthday, but at the same time we want to see her move on. After all, we would want that for our best friend. We see our own relationships in the one between Portia and Carrie. Their dialogue is as realistic as anything between us and our friends. We feel for Portia and hope that she can move on with her life. We root for her to find happiness with a new love. Once she meets Brock, her healing begins. Anyone who has suffered from the loss of a significant other understands how important that is. Their coupling is believable on all levels as it progresses into the steamy romance that we want her to have. Sex is known for its therapeutic effects, so Portia fully embraces it.Just as she is beginning to move on, someone threatens to ruin her newfound happiness. What will she do? Will she retreat into the darkness once again or will she move on with Brock? Those questions are what make this story so engaging. December 18, 2012By A CustomerFormat:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified PurchaseSandra Ross's book Moving on with Ross is an extremely heartwarming story, especially when you are looking for a good story idea and theme well written, and you want to pass the time with characters with who you can relate. Portia is no stranger to heartbreak - she lost her husband and her unborn child in one horrible twist of fate, and she is spending her days existing instead of living.Enter Brock, friend, confidante and lover. A charming, warm, humorous, and kindhearted man, he is just the sort of man with who Portia can dream about a second chance to love and a happily ever after. But then there is somebody vicious around who intends to target Portia and cause her more emotional and mental suffering. Will Portia manage to get her second chance of happiness with Brock when there is someone who does not want to see her have another happily ever after? Now let me tell you the points which impressed me most about this book. The style in which Sandra weaves our emotions through the written words makes one feel almost as if you can touch Portia's anger, feeling of helplessness, and sense of loss. On the other hand, there is Brock to laugh with her and encourage her to start enjoying life again, when he is there and around to love and to support her. But then, there is little bit, which I would have liked Sandra to have included in the story. Who is Brock, is he a family friend, or did they meet after she had been widowed? I would also have liked a description of Portia and Brock, so that I could "visualize" them as they interacted with each other, and so on.Nevertheless, this book is a good choice for all those readers who would like to read about a second chance at love with Portia and Brock. One almost finds oneself cheering for Brock, especially when he decides to go after that miscreant who has caused pain to Portia. Yes, there are warmhearted heroes like him even in real life and one knows that Portia is going to be loved, cherished and protected by her Brock till the end of her days. So one can smile when one reads the end of this book, especially if one intends to enjoy some moments in imagining what happens next.Nevertheless, I am waiting for more books by Sandra Ross! I give her a 4.5 star, because like I said I wanted more in the matter of Portia's and Brock's past, background, descriptions, etc... But then, I am fussy that way! JamesonFormat:Kindle Edition"Moving On With Brock" is a moving story of a woman who survives an overwhelming tragedy and, two years later, somehow finds a way to pick up the pieces and move on. Sandra Ross outdoes herself with this story, writing a character that is at once vulnerable and strong, in need of love but still holding on to the ghosts from her past. "Moving On With Brock" is a beautifully written story that is touching and heart-wrenching and makes you believe that it is possible to find happiness after you've been broken."Moving On" starts with a heartbreaking and emotional scene where, in one fell swoop, Portia loses her husband and unborn baby. Portia is left broken by her loss and the reader cannot help feeling for her. Portia has had one of the most awful things that can happen to a person happen to her and the mere fact that she is still standing speaks volumes for her sheer strength and ability to survive. Two years later, Portia is still struggling with the tragic event that took her husband and child away from her. So when she meets Brock, handsome and kind, the reader cannot help but hope that he will find a way to help heal our hurting protagonist. As the story continues, Brock slowly reawakens feelings inside Portia that she thought had died with her beloved family. Slowly but surely, Portia finds herself opening up to Brock and coming alive again. Ross' scenes between her two main characters are tender and sweet, and, in Brock's arms, Portia is finally able to let herself be happy again. I love Ross' leading man in this story - he is patient and protective of Portia as she is still so very fragile from her tragic loss, and his loving understanding is what helps Portia find the strength to finally leave that terrible night behind.Unfortunately, Portia's perfect happiness with Brock is short-lived. In a surprising twist, someone starts trying to ruin Portia's long-awaited love. As the reader, I found myself hating this person - how dare they get in the way of Portia's happiness when she's had nothing but loneliness and misery to live with for so long? It is a credit to Ross' writing that I found myself so emotionally invested in Portia's well-being. In the end , Portia finds the strength once again to persevere and does not let anything get in the way of her new-found love, finally shaking off the pain of the last two years and realizing that she was not the one who died on that tragic night. "Moving On With Brock" is at times tragic and crushing, at other times sensual and steamy, and even some times thrilling and chilling. It is the story of a tragic loss and a beautiful love story, but more than anything, it is the story of a survivor who is able to find a second chance and a second life through love.
