Darn It!
by Christine Murray
Nicki has wanted to be a television presenter since she was old enough to watch one. So she’s excited when an opportunity opens up at the television company where she works as a researcher. She’s less excited when she discovers that she’s up against Alva – the office ice queen whose monthly clothing budget could feed most families for a year. She’s even less excited to find out that it’s a popularity contest – they’re both going to film segments which will be voted on by viewers.Nicki has no money, and in order to compete in the visual medium of television she’ll have to make her own outfits. Which wouldn’t be such a problem if she could actually sew… No doubt she’s going to make an impression, but will it be for all the right reasons or all the wrong ones?
