When the Carolina Rhapsody Emerald is displayed at the Hatteras West Inn, Innkeeper Alex Winston can't wait to see it leave. There's just too much stress having the valuable jewel there. Just before the exhibit is scheduled to end, the emerald is stolen, and the guard is murdered with Alex's lighthouse-shaped letter opener!
