A cop on the verge of retiring reopens a cold case, using 40-year-old DNA. His findings shatter the killer’s widow, a painter and art gallery owner who cannot reconcile herself to the characterization of her husband as a murderer. The findings also poke a felonious hornets’ nest in the sleepy town of St. Elmo, stirring up long-dormant secrets and triggering a swarm of new crimes.
