The Guardian Chronicles 2: Dark Horizon

Gabriel James thought high school was hard, except biology never included vampires and gym didn't pit him against demons. After an attack by a horse sized centipede, Gabriel learns of a world he never thought could exist and a secret society of defenders called the Guardians who send him to find a weapons dealing demon. High school may not seem so bad anymore; At least algebra didn't fight back.
