CALAMITY is a timely romance/thriller novel dealing with the climate crisis. It is based on documented facts and some true stories. The book opens with a description of mammoth holes that actually exist in the Arctic. It continues with a trip to Siberia by a stunning superstar TV anchor, a renowned scientist and a lecherous Senator. A worldwide pandemic results when they return caused by exposure to an ancient creature that emerged from the thawing permafrost. The most important part of the book is its focus on methane being released in the Arctic that could lead to runaway climate change. Our fictionalized scientist thinks it might, and the anchor finds it increasingly hard to doubt his reasoning, let alone resist his advances. Their challenge is to convince the Government to take impending disaster seriously and do something about it. At the same time, the anchor needs to avoid numerous threats and potentially lethal attacks. One example of the attacks...
