I moved my hips underneath him and felt the bulge that formed between his legs. It was hard and defined. I could feel his impressive cock through his pants. I rubbed against it the only way I could, touching it with my inner thigh. I originally did it to entice him, but it enticed me.

His breathing changed as I rubbed against him. It picked up and became rough and desperate. His lips were still pressed to mine when he said, “Sweetheart…”

I managed to get one leg loose, and I wrapped it around his waist. I squeezed him gently, pulling him to me. I originally made that move to escape, but now I was enjoying it too much. The idea of making love right on that mat turned me on.

Parker released one of my wrists then ran it down my thigh. He felt my leg all the way to my ankle and he squeezed it gently. One hand remained on my other wrist, but my second one was free.

I immediately hooked it around his neck. My fingers dug into his hair, and I pulled him further into me. My lips sucked his desperately as I moaned into his mouth. “Parker, please…”

Never in my life had I wanted a man this much. He wasn’t just sexy as hell. He was also beautiful on the inside. He had a heart made of gold, and he was one of the greatest men I’d ever known.

I gripped his pants and started to pull them down. I wanted this moment, even if I didn’t know what it meant. My heart had started to beat for him, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t stop it. I was tired of fighting my desire. “Make love to me.”

When his pants were around his ankles, he kicked them off. He groaned as I pulled down his boxers and revealed the rest of his glorious body. I was too busy kissing him to get a peek, but I didn’t need the visual to remember how well-endowed he was.

Parker yanked my sports bra off with one fluid motion, and when he saw my tits, he stared at them hungrily. A quiet moan escaped his lips before he kissed the valley between them. “Fuck. You’re beautiful.”

I cupped his face and kissed him again, growing wetter by the second. I didn’t want him to see the inside of my panties once he pulled them off because it was humiliating. He would have evidence of just how badly I wanted him—all the time.

With his eyes locked on mine, he pulled my pants off then removed my panties. He did it quickly, like he was tired of waiting for the grand finale. He looked down at me with lust in his eyes then he quickly positioned himself over me.

The irony of how much we’d changed in just a few weeks wasn’t lost on me. I wanted him because I’d grown fond of who he was as a person. He was a strong man with a kind heart, something almost impossible to find. Despite his dark exterior and painful past, he was a beautiful person. I saw all the qualities he tried to hide. This wasn’t just meaningless sex. It meant more than I would ever admit.

My mouth closed over his as his thick erection pressed against my wetness. Opening my lips, I allowed his tongue inside, the two of us beginning a dance with no music as our tongues explored one another.

Parker pulled away long enough to watch my eyes as he aligned his tip with my opening and slipped between my folds. “Sweetheart, you’re completely soaked and ready for me.”

I couldn’t help but blush over how desperately I wanted him. The man was gorgeous in every way, and my body reacted on instinct. This was what I needed.

Parker pushed inside me, his massive girth filling me completely until I thought I couldn’t take another inch of him. It was a tight fit, but as he settled into a steady rhythm, he somehow found a way to go a little bit deeper with each thrust until I thought he would split me in half. My body reacted in kind, sending electric chills up and down my spine every time he pressed fully into me.

His muscular chest rubbed against my hard nipples, sending even more spikes of pleasure through me. His mouth continued to explore mine, prodding and licking while his hips pulled back, directing his cock in and out of me as if we were molded for each other.

“Mmmm.” The moan was instinctual. I didn’t know if I could even take anymore of him, but damn if I didn’t want to try.

I wrapped my hands around his body and dug into his skin as he pushed me up against the wall. When his lips strayed from mine and found my neck, my moans became louder. One of the more sensitive spots on my body, an explosion of pleasure rocketed through me as he sucked and licked around my clavicle.

My fingers traced up and down his back, drawing several moans from Parker as he continued to fuck my dripping pussy. The familiar tingling at my core was beginning to grow as both of our breathing became more labored. “God, Parker...”

“Come with me, sweetheart. Are you ready?”

My squirm must have been confirmation enough because the next push by Parker was a slam straight to my center. “Fuck, sweetheart. You’re so hot.”

Parker gave one more powerful thrust before he was moaning through his release. Shock waves blasted through me as the tingling in my center made my entire body quiver. My pussy pulsed against his cock, releasing a flow that had to rival that of Parker’s. He continued to buck into me until we were both panting and dripping with sweat.

“Damn.” He pulled out of me, displaying one of the satisfied grins I’d grown to love. “Having a live-in fuck buddy is better than I thought it’d be…”

And the bubble of happiness shattered around me.

I was no longer turned on at all. Now I was just disappointed. I felt stupid for even thinking anything had changed between us. He said he didn’t have the ability to love, and I was an idiot for thinking things were different with me. I thought he cared about me. He smiled far too often, and he was so gentle with me. Was there really nothing there or was he totally oblivious to it? “Get off me.”

He stilled at my words, and his eyes locked on me.

“Get off me, Parker.” I shoved him in the chest, and he immediately backed off.

I pulled my clothes on as quickly as I could and purposely didn’t look at him.

He remained in the same spot, not moving or saying a word.

When I was clothed, I practically ran out of the room. I took the stairs two at a time and headed back to my room. My face remained calm and no tears were shed, but that didn’t mean my heart wasn’t screaming in pain.

I barricaded myself in my room because that was the only place where I could get away from him. I went straight into the shower and turned on the hot water. Without stripping my clothes off, I sat on the shower floor and leaned against the wall, hugging my knees to my chest as the water ran down my body and soaked my clothes.

  Chapter 11

I didn’t attend our training session the next morning. Instead, I stayed in my room. When Jana tried to bring breakfast, I shooed her away. My appetite was non-existent, and I didn’t want to see Parker.

I was in a difficult situation. Parker was the only companion I had, but I couldn’t look at his face. He should have been the person I could talk to when I had a problem, but I didn’t know what to say to him.

Fortunately, there was a shelf of books in my room, so I started reading one at a time.

Without knocking, Parker burst inside my room and slammed the door behind him.

My book went flying from my hands, and I almost fell off the couch. “What the hell are you doing?”

He stood behind the couch with his hands on his hips. He wore his workout clothes, a black t-shirt and shorts. Just from the look in his eyes, I could tell he was pissed about something.

“What’s your problem?” I grabbed the book off the ground and knew I’d lost my place.

“Why aren’t you ready to train?”

“Because I’m not going.” He really couldn’t figure that out on his own?

  “Are you sick?”

  I rolled my eyes. “No.”

“Do you have somewhere to be?”

  “No.”

“Then get your ass up and change. You better be down there in five minutes.” He turned to leave.

“Whoa…what?” I stood up and tossed the book aside. “Who the hell do you thi
nk you are? You might be my teacher, but that doesn’t mean I’m your bitch.”

I could feel the heat and anger radiating off him as he turned back to me. “I never made that assumption. But when you’re scheduled to work, you better show up.”

“I need space, Parker. I’ll return when I’m ready.”

His eyes darkened to coals. “You need space? Why?”

Like he didn’t know. “I don’t want to be some chick you fuck.”

“Then don’t fuck me.” He threw up his arms. “It’s that simple. If you can’t handle it, just don’t do it.”

  “I just want something more.”

His hands were still on his hips, but they lowered to his side. “I told you that’s not realistic.”

  “I just thought—”

“What? What do you think can happen?”

When I reflected on our time together, I knew there was more than just a physical attraction. I wasn’t crazy. “You look at me like you care about me. You smile when you’re with me, like there’s nowhere else you’d rather be. You’re vulnerable and open…you’re different with me.”

“You’ve never seen me interact with anyone else, so how would you know?”

“I just do.” I couldn’t explain how, but that didn’t change anything. “You care about me.”

His eyes softened. “Of course, I care about you, Sierra.”

“But it’s more than that. You can deny it, but in the back of your mind, you know what I’m talking about.”

He held my gaze, but his features were closed off. He wouldn’t let me read him, not like he usually did. “

“We should be training.” He returned his hands to his hips. “Get changed, and I’ll meet you down there.”

  “Parker?”

He reached for the door but turned to look at me. “Sierra.”

“That night at the bar, you left that pretty blonde for me.”

  “Your point?”

  “Why?”

  He shrugged. “I don’t know.”

  “You do know.”

He crossed his arms over his chest, and his eyes focused on the floor. “Because I’m an asshole, Sierra. I had the attention of a perfectly nice woman, but I ditched her in mid-sentence the second you walked inside.”

A spark of hope flared within me, making me smile.

Instead of growing irritated or upset, his eyes narrowed on my face like he was looking for something. “I like you a lot. But that can only go so far.”

I wasn’t the kind of girl to wait around for a guy to notice me, so I couldn’t wait around for Parker to understand how he truly felt.

But that was easier said than done.

The rest of the week went by in a blur. We trained every day, and by the end, I was so sore I could hardly move. My legs felt like lead, and my arms were too stiff to move. The amount of energy I was burning surpassed all the activity I’d done in my entire life. No matter how much I ate, my body still craved more calories just to sustain.

As soon as I relaxed into the mattress, I released a deep sigh.

I closed my eyes for just a second but a light knock on the door had me on high alert. Instead of saying anything, I just lay there, too tired to sit up and have a conversation.

My doorknob clicked open and someone entered.

Facing the window, I couldn’t see who had walked in, but I wondered who was in my room and why.

The door shut and a second later, there was a noticeable dip in the bed as they sat on the edge. The covers were pulled back, so I turned over and saw Parker. He was shirtless with just sweatpants on. “What are you doing?” My voice came out hoarse because I was barely awake.

“Can I sleep with you?” he whispered.

Did I hear him right? “Uh, why?”

He shrugged. “I just want to.”

What kind of reason was that? I sat up and held the covers to my chest. I was wearing a t-shirt, but I didn’t have any bottoms on.

Parker stared at me before he leaned back against the extra pillow. “I thought about what you said, and you’re right.”

What specifically? I said a lot of things.

“It is different with you. I do care about you.” He studied my face as he spoke, watching my reaction. “And I understand why you were so upset after that day during training.”

My heart started beating again. He was finally coming around.

“Anyway, I was hoping I could sleep with you tonight.” A slight smile formed on his lips. “Just sleep.”

“You want to sleep with me?” I almost couldn’t believe what he was saying.

“If I’m welcome.” He adjusted the pillow then winked. “I’m a pretty good cuddler.”

Without any reason to kick him out, I settled back down on my side, facing the window again. “I’ll have to see about that…”

Parker hooked his arm around my waist and pulled me against him. My back was against his chest, and I immediately felt the warmth his body projected. He nuzzled his face into my hair and took a deep breath. “Thank you.”

I couldn’t believe this was real. “Why are you doing this?”

He was quiet for so long I didn’t think he would say anything. But just before I fell asleep, he whispered the words I never thought I’d hear from him. “I wanted to give you something I’ve never given anyone before.”

When I woke up, Parker was still there. His body was intertwined with mine, and it still burned like a heater. His cheek was pressed against my shoulder and both his arms were caged around my waist. I felt like a stuffed animal.

It was the first time I woke up with a smile on my face.

As if he could feel me wake, he released a deep sigh and stretched his legs under the sheets. His arms tightened around me momentarily before he released his grip. “Morning.”

“Morning.” The sun had barely risen beyond the mountainside, and a small amount of light pierced the valley.

He turned me around with just one arm then looked into my face. His eyes were lidded with sleep and his hair was messy from lying on the pillow, but he made it look sexy. “How’d you sleep?”

  “Good. You?”

“I haven’t slept that well in years.” His hand moved to my hip over the t-shirt.

  “Why? I’m not that cuddly.”

“I usually have nightmares. Last night, I didn’t.”

My heart fell in sadness. “I’m glad.”

  “Maybe you’re my dream catcher.”

I would give anything to be his dream catcher. “Maybe it was just a coincidence.”

“Maybe we’ll have to do this again and find out.”

I wanted to do it every night.

“As much as I don’t want to, I guess we should get up and get the day started…” He pulled back the sheets.

“No.” I yanked him back. “I’m so sore I can barely move, and I’m still tired. Let’s stay here…just this one time.”

He smirked as if I were joking. “And be lazy?”

“I’d like to think of it as recuperation.”

“Ha.” He scoffed but held me against his chest. “That’s a fancy term for lazy.”

“Come on. Just be lazy once.” I never wanted to get out of bed, not when that gorgeous man was lying beside me. “For me.”

He chuckled, and I knew he was giving in. “And what would we do?”

  “Eat in bed. Read. Talk.”

“I’ve never shared a bed with a woman for this long without getting laid.”

  “We can do that too.”

“Okay.” He smiled. “What should we do first?”

“Well, I’m starving.” Right on cue, my stomach growled.

  “What’s new?” he teased.

“Do you think Jana will bring us breakfast in bed?”

He grabbed his phone from the nightstand and sent a text.

  “What was that?”

“I asked her to leave a tray by the door.”

My jaw dropped, self-consciously wondering if that wa
s a good idea. “But then she’ll know we slept together.”

“So?” He yawned and stretched one arm over his head. “Let’s not worry about anyone else today. Okay, sweetheart?” He kissed me on the cheek, an unexpected gesture of affection, and then returned to snuggling with me under the blanket.

I was too flustered to say another word.

Half the day had come and gone, and we still hadn’t left the bed for more than a few minutes at a time. After breakfast, sex, and a nap, we were playing a game on his phone.

  “Your move.”

I moved my checker piece forward and handed back his phone.

Parker made a quick move with the swipe of his finger.

I moved another checker piece, ignoring an important one on the other side of the board. I knew he would be so focused on what I was moving that he would forget about it.

And like I suspected, he did. He moved his piece forward, right in my line of attack.

I quickly jumped him. “King me, bitch.”

“Dammit,” he said. “You snuck up on me.”

“For a secret agent, you aren’t very good at games.”

“I guess I failed that course when I attended The Secret School of Spies.” His voice was full of sarcasm with a hint of amusement.

When I handed back his phone again, Parker just stared at it, not making a move. Within a few seconds, he sat up like he was about to leave.

“Hey, I’m just teasing. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. Don’t go.”

He took a deep breath then lay back down. “Sorry. Just thinking about something.”

I nuzzled into his side and rested my hand on his chest. He was obviously thinking about something that was upsetting, so I decided to share something of myself so he knew he wasn’t alone. “I miss my mom. I still think about her every day.”

He gave me a squeeze but kept his gaze locked on the wall. “I’m guessing you got your beauty from her.”

I smiled at the compliment but he was right about my mom being pretty. “She was beautiful.”

“When was the last time you saw her?”

“About five years ago. She left the house to go grocery shopping. She gave me a kiss and told me she loved me. And that was it…”
