That morning, Sal smiled to herself as she stretched and languished in her bed. Having spent so many mornings waking up in strange hotel rooms, she appreciated her own bed so much more.

“Morning, gorgeous!” A voice jolted Sal out of her daydream and back into the bedroom.

“Christ, don’t do that!” she laughed, holding her head and looking up at the familiar sideways grin on the face she loved.

“Sorry babe,” Doug smiled. “I thought you’d like a cuppa and biscuits. It’s gone nine, y’know! You were dead to the world when I got up.”

She eased herself up to a sitting position to receive her tea, but he put it on the bedside table and climbed in bed next to her.

“My hero! I love you,” she giggled wickedly, as he pulled the duvet over them.

He knew she didn’t function properly until she’d had a cup of tea, some biscuits … and him.

He knew her so well. He had been her wonderful little secret for a long time, but she felt they needed to start sharing that secret with everyone. It was time.
