Leif cocked his head to one side, taking stock of Thrash’s burly intimidating appearance. “Are you joking? Kay isn’t gonna become a hermit because some idiot fan is a little overzealous. Tell him, Kay! If she doesn’t go to the studio she might as well flush her entire career down the toilet...”

Kayla stood silent in between Leif and Thrash until finally she slipped her hand underneath Leif’s slender muscular arm.

  “He’s right,” she nodded agreeing.

“Well, I think that’s obvious...I know a little bit more about show business than some uptight, malcontent bodyguard...” Leif jeered turning his back on Thrash.

Leif then peered down into Kayla’s big brown eyes.

“Somehow, I feel like all of this is my fault, I shouldn’t have let you out of my sight.”

Even though everyone told Kayla dating a totally narcissistic model like Leif was foolish, Leif always made her feel safe, desired and sexy. Leif leaned in with the look of thirst in his eyes. His hands drifted down Kayla’s curvy sides. And he took her into his mouth, kissing Kayla deeply. Thrash grunted very audibly. Thrash had the mind to snap this little twerp’s neck.

Kayla could see the jumping nerve on Thrash’s forehead and pulled away from Leif.

“Fine, you two lead—I’ll follow,” Thrash growled.

  *

Kayla lifted a pair of bulky head phones to her ears as she stepped up to the microphone. She stood in a recording booth with a glass window right in front of her. She eyed Thrash standing very erect and brutish right next to Leif. Ever since what happened in her home in the Hollywood Hills, Kayla couldn’t rid her thoughts of Thrash’s handsome rakish abs and his ability to tell her like it is and not put up with her shit.

When Kayla started singing, Thrash’s ears pricked up to the sound of her voice. Until this moment, he thought Kayla’s voice could only sound bratty or sassy. But now, it sounded so pleasing to his twitching ears. Thrash didn’t understand music or why stupid humans would pay good money to listen to someone else’s voice—but now he fully understood.

His eyes sighted an envelope slipped underneath the door behind him. Thrash kneeled down slowly and fetched it in his hand. His eyes scanned the letter:

  Kayla,

Can’t wait to pound you until it hurts...

  —xoxo

Leif noticed a very agitated Thrash moving towards the recording booth door.

“What do you think you’re doing, Big Guy? You can’t just go interrupting her in the middle of a song...” Leif shouted. After shoving the pretty boy aside, Thrash barged into Kayla’s recording session.

  Kayla glared at Thrash.

“Kinda busy here, don’t’cha think you can wait until I’m finished...”

Thrash just tried to simply drag her, but Kayla resisted.

“Listen, I’m not just some ragdoll you can tote around, alright?” Kayla hissed.

Thrash wasn’t going to walk on eggshells on her account. His job was to protect her. Defend her at all costs—even from herself.

“You hired me to keep you safe, but ignore all of my advice. Go ahead and risk your life, it doesn’t mean I have to stand here and watch you do it...” Thrash growled. He had his fill of Kayla’s games.

Thrash then marched out of the recording studio. Kayla followed after.

“What? Wait, are you quitting?” Kayla asked.

“That’s exactly what I’m doing,” Thrash grunted.

“Hey, at least I’m not hiding who I am under some ‘macho tough guy’ exterior. You can’t just ditch me, I’m doing a live show tomorrow...”

Thrash didn’t even bother to respond, and he made no attempt to try and convince Kayla any further.

“If you walk out that door, don’t you ever think of coming back!” Kayla shouted half-hoping that her empty threat would stop the powerful Thrash in his tracks.

But it didn’t, and Kayla silently studied his back as he took off out the door.

  Chapter Six

Kayla had been signed up as a musical guest on the Late Night with Timmy Talon show. She hated T.V. gigs, because as a curvy girl, she couldn’t stand how the camera always added an extra few pounds. She sat in front of a brightly lit vanity mirror while her make-up was being applied. Leif hovered in the background.

“Babe, I can tell something’s obviously wrong. Who gives a shit about that Thrash guy? He’s just cramping our style, am I right?” Leif crowed over Kayla’s shoulder and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

“I’m here to protect you. As long as you got me around, you’ve got nothing to be afraid of...”

Not so surprisingly, that offered Kayla little comfort. She missed having Thrash’s scowl-y face around. And she loved the way that they were always at each other’s throats.

Leif could see that even though Kayla stood right in front of him, she was completely gone.

“Babe?” he called low and dark. “Babe? The host called you to the stage...”

Kayla snapped out of her day dreaming and regarded herself one more time in the mirror. For the first time, since—well, ever. She had been struck with stage fright. Without Thrash standing sullenly nearby, Kayla worried that some one out there might actually hurt her.

“Uh—yeah. Sorry. I don’t know what came over me. Just jitters... I guess,” she uttered, heading towards the stage.

“Good luck out there, babe. Break a leg...” Leif grinned with narrowing yellow eyes.

Kayla stepped into the spotlight in front of the studio audience. She started singing, feeling her heart thud hard in her chest.

  Creak!

Kayla tilted her head at the sound of a creaking noise above her. It’s all in your head, you’re just anxious—that’s all. She repeated to herself to calm her nerves.

  SNAP!

The spotlight above her dangled from a few tiny threads and then came hurling down towards her. The audience gasped and Kayla’s skin blanched ghost white.

A deafening roar came from the side of the stage when something scooped her up out of harm’s way. The heavy spotlight smashed hard on the stage with a heavy thud. Crushed glass littered the ground.

Kayla’s heart beat so fast she thought it would explode. Her eyes were shut tight, and she finally found the courage to peek up at her mysterious savior.

Kayla’s eyes widened with unbridled glee. “Thrash?” she asked with total disbelief. She just knew her knight-in-shining-werebear would never disappoint her. Thrash’s amber-red eyes gazed at her curvy frame with ravenous wanting.

He looked down at the tattered rope attached to the spotlight. “These are teeth marks, someone chewed right through it,” Thrash grunted.

  “Chewed?” Kayla wondered aloud.

Thrash didn’t answer instead he snarled, scowling at the right side of the stage. A wolf skulked in the shadows before running off. Soon after, Leif came scrambling to see if Kayla was alright.

“Holy hell!” Leif darkly exclaimed. “Babe, you okay? That’s it. You’re staying with me tonight.”

Leif pulled her away from Thrash’s grasp, but Kayla stopped suddenly in her tracks.

“Leif, I think I better stay with Thrash tonight—just to play it safe,” Kayla expressed feeling like a part of her was betraying Leif.

Thrash tried hard to prevent a sly grin from stretching across his cheek. But grinned anyway. Leif drew back and had the look of a pissed off lover.

“If that’s what you want,” Leif grumbled lowly. “Don’t let me stand in your way...”

  Chapter Seven

“Yup, this was a bad idea. A very bad idea...” Kayla griped.

Kayla regretted her decision. Thrash’s secret hide out was a cave hidden in a California Park Preserve.

No running water. No king size mattress. No fluffy pillows!! How will I ever friggin’ survive the night? She feared.

Thrash, in his shaggy bear form, stood watch at the mouth of the cave. “What about if I have to go to the bathroom?” Kayla asked sidest
epping lightly so as not to ruin her Jimmy Choo shoes.

“You go take a shit outside—there’s plenty of room,” Thrash grunted with a cheeky bear-grin.

  Kayla scrunched her face.

“I’m thirsty? Do you have any bottled spring water?” She cooed.

Thrash could already tell this was going to be a loonnng night. He pawed the soft earth with his sharp claws to make a shallow place to sleep. He then circled the area and plopped down the bulk of his werebear body.

Kayla stomped past him, wearing her terry robe and carrying a bottle of girly shampoo.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Thrash grunted.

“It reeks in this hell hole. I need to go clean the outside stench off of me.”

Kayla turned up her nose as she swished her curvy hips to a nearby lake. What she didn’t know was that Thrash wasn’t far behind. He shadowed her from a distance, not once letting her out of his sight.

He fixed his gaze on her body as she untied her terry cloth robe. Kayla let it slip down her shoulders and then down her back—until she stood stark naked among the trees.

Thrash roughly sniffed, feeling his bear cock stirring underneath his shaggy dense nutty brown fur. The sight of her thick hips and her full plump breasts...

  Grrrrrrrr.....

Kayla took a few cautious steps into the water.

  It’s so warm!

She thought. It was even better than anything she ever experienced in a spa. Kayla squirted a dollop of shampoo in the palm of her hand. Thrash inhaled the candy cane like scent of her shampoo.

Kayla cupped water in her hands and then let it dribble down over her head. Thrash’s eyes traced the droplets as they weeped down the crack of her curvy ass. Kayla hummed as she started lathering between her thighs, spreading then widely enough that Thrash could smell her moist heat.

  That’s it!

Thrash lumbered out from the trees, now in his naked sexy human hunk form. Kayla spun around, trying to hide her sexy bits. Her eyes gaped when she saw the hot flesh of his Kodiak cock swinging right underneath his belly button.

“It’s too late now,” Thrash growled. “You can’t tease me like that and not expect me to want a happy ending...”

Thrash took Kayla in his rough hands and she was overcome with a joyful panic. Thrash wanted her. Wanted her real bad. And she was going to let him take her. She squeaked when Thrash groped her hips and buried his face between her warm plump thighs.

His tongue licked mightily along her swollen clit, and Kayla bucked and jerked against Thrash’s lips. Kayla wanted to skip the foreplay as she hungrily wanted him inside her.

  “Fuck me, please!” Kayla begged.

Thrash slid his rigid bear cock into her soft tight opening. Kayla moaned at the sensation of being invaded by his stretching girth...fully erect and thrusting wildly inside her. Kayla lay back speechless, swept up by the sensation of the underside of his cock gliding in and out of her willing heat.

She wrapped her legs around his waist so he could literally pile drive her so hard she couldn’t tell the difference between pleasure and pain. Thrash leaned heavily against her, smelling her lathered hair fully and only being aroused even more.

Then his body jerked when that familiar surge started to rush like shockwaves through his hard dick. Kayla screamed, feeling his thrusts get more intense and then finally feeling the flush of Thrash’s soothing warm come.

“You’re starting to actually like me, aren’t you?” Kayla asked, wet, tired and gazing sleepily up into Thrash’s amber-red eyes.

Thrash swayed his head. “You could say you’re starting to grow on me...” he growled against her breasts.

  Chapter Eight

Thrash had built a fire and they both lay naked and exposed in front its warm glow. The sound of crackling wood snapped in their ears.

“What are you hiding in that head of yours?” Kayla asked, she’d been wondering the entire time since the truth of his werebear identity was discovered.

Thrash cocked his head to one side, playing dumb.

  “I don’t know what you’re talking about...”

“Aren’t we past pretending? I mean look at us—c’mon!” Kayla blurted giggling.

Thrash reluctantly snarled, doing his best to let down his guard.

“I’ve never had a mate...” he grunted.

Kayla was a little confused seems like they mated lots just now.

“No, I mean...yes, I’ve mated—but I haven’t found a soul mate. My mate for the rest of eternity. Seeing you with Leif that day we nearly got caught, only reminded me of how empty a life without a mate can be...”

Kayla pat him hard on his strapping shoulder. “Wait a sec, big ‘ol Thrash has feelings and emotions? Wow, I never?”

“We werebears are pretty sensitive types. The most sensitive of the shifters—don’t tell anyone that though... Besides, what do you see in that pretty boy deadbeat anyway?” Thrash huffed.

Kayla shrugged. No one’s ever asked her that before. She just kinda thought Leif was hot, and they meshed well together—with her being a singer and him being a rapper slash model. Honestly, most of her hook-ups up until now have been pretty much based on how hot and sexy her potential lover was. Especially because she was twenty-nine...maybe dating Leif made her feel like she did when she first moved to Hollywood with big dreams.

She squinted. “Leif isn’t so bad...”

“I hate him...” Thrash grunted bluntly.

Kayla couldn’t bring herself to say something wholly negative about her current fling and just dropped the matter.

“It’s late. We should get some sleep,” she yawned, her voice breaking as she stretched her arms. Slowly, Thrash transformed into his shaggy werebear form, and Kayla snuggled her naked body up next to him. She felt so relaxed falling asleep to the soothing sounds of wild nature.

  *

Kayla shuffled around, fluttering her eyes. Strangely, she felt nothing at her back. No warmth. Just cold. Kayla glanced over her shoulder—no sign of Thrash.

She got up on her feet and called out for him.

“Thrash! Thrash!” she cried out, cupping her hands on the sides of her pouty mouth.

“Call all you want, Babe... nature boy’s not coming for you...” a voice mocked.

The familiar voice sent shivers down her spine. A pair of blistering yellow eyes glowered at her.

“Leif!” she exclaimed, she couldn’t figure out how he found her.

“What’s happening? What’s going on?” she demanded to know the answers.

Leif flashed his perfect toothy smile. “What? You mean you haven’t read any of my letters or texts?” His blazing eyes scanned the whole of her luscious curvy frame.

Oh my GOD! Leif is my stalker!

“That’s right, Babe. I’ve been trying to snuff you out,” he jeered.

Leif started to circle Kayla like a hungry rabid wild dog. It all started flooding to Kayla’s brain. Every time Leif was around she also saw the blood thirsty wolf nearby.

When she looked around, she realized how far she was from camp. And that Leif must have dragged her for several miles deep inside the forest after she was asleep and dreamily snuggled up next to Thrash.

“What do you want, Mandrake!” Kayla spat, folding her arms.

Leif roughly grabbed her chin, squeezing her full cheeks.

“I figure the best way to kick off my modeling career is be the surviving boyfriend of a dead washed up starlet.”

  Washed up?!

“You said you loved all of my work?! You said you listened to all of my albums...” Kayla rambled on still not able to grasp what’s going on. She clutched her shirt closed, and tears started to stain her cheeks.

Leif chuckled, shamelessly grabbing Kayla’s ass. “That was always your problem, Babe. You were never good at telling the truth from a lie... I’ll definitely miss hitting it when you’re gone...”

Leif grabbed a spool of rope and tied up Kayla’s arms and legs
. The tears were now streaming down her face.

“Now, we wait to see if Thrash picks up your scent, and I’ll take him out too,”

  Leif boasted.

Kayla felt like such a big fool thinking a hot model like Leif could ever truly love a curvy girl like her. She cried into her hands, knowing now that she put Thrash’s life at risk.

  Chapter Nine

Thrash stirred up, sniffing the air. Small burrs stuck to his fur. He felt all sorts of rankled when he didn’t feel Kayla’s curvy body nestled next to him. Thrash launched up and roved through the nearby trees, breaking fallen logs under his heavy powerful steps.

  Sniff! Sniff!

Then a low growl vibrated in the pit of his belly. Thrash got the mangy scent of a werewolf. Thrash’s hulking body shambled forward, following the scent of fresh alpha markings on the trees. He got the scent of wet hickory in his nose and lumbered right towards it. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw both Kayla bound at her wrists and ankles and noticed Leif standing there, keeping guard.

  I will tear him apart!

Without wasting another second, Thrash charged forward and Leif grinned with a wicked smile. In a flash, he shifted into his feral wolf form and steered out of Thrash’s war path.

Thrash veered around, aching to thwack that goddamn smirk off of Leif’s face. He then bolted at the wolf, aiming for Leif’s throat. Kayla hollered out muffled screams as the two ferocious beasts leaped at one another. Leif seized a mouthful of Thrash’s fur in his jaws, biting and tearing until he tasted blood on his tongue.

Thrash roared when he dropped hard onto the ground.

“Is that all you got?!” Leif howled, feeling cocky after beating Thrash down.

Kayla kicked up some leaves, blinding Leif’s violent yellow eyes. Thrash stumbled up, a surging pain burned in his side, but he flattened Leif underneath his weight.

Now, that Leif scrambled under Thrash’s claws he could easily go for the kill.

“NO!” Kayla shouted, “Don’t do it, Thrash! Don’t stoop to his level.”

Thrash’s blood ran hot, and his predatory instincts urged him to go for the jugular. But his humanity, buried somewhere deep within him, knew he should back off. Thrash socked Leif in his jaw and knocked out the snarling werewolf.
