Sweet Nothings

by Baker, Tory

“Kinsley,” my voice low, but still demanding. My body craving her attention, I run my hand through my hair, fisting it at the nape of my neck. I need a damn haircut, something I’ll have to make time for and soon.

“Luke, can I get you something?” her soft and sweet smile is aimed at me. The only thing I want is her, in my arms for the rest of fucking time.

“A date, tonight?” I question. The blush that I saw on her earlier, comes back full force, her porcelain skin is overtaken by it.

“Me?” She questions, pointing at herself.

“Yes, Kinsley, you and me, a date. Maybe some dinner?” I reiterate.

“Um…I guess so, but are you sure?” She questions, like I’d change my mind. I get it, she doesn’t know me that well, yet. One thing for sure, she will after tonight.

“Positive, I’ll pick you up at seven” I tell her.

“You don’t even know where I live though,” she grabs her loose hair, pulling it to one side, trying to conceal her nervousness.

“Kinsley, I know you live upstairs, that you close at four o’clock tonight. So, seven tonight, we can go for sushi?”

“Sure, I’ll…uh, be ready and waiting,” she mumbles. I move in closer to her, her scent is surrounding me now, it’s light and airy with hints of vanilla. My body wants to bring her in more, to feel her wrapped around me, but I know it’s too soon, she’s too unsure. Instead, I kiss her forehead, step back, and say, “See you at seven.”

“See you soon,” her head is tipped up, her lips pressed together. It takes everything I have to walk away from her before I do something like kiss her stupid in front of everyone in the coffee shop.

“That you will.” with one last look, I grab my stuff, heading for the door. I have a few more things to take care of before our date tonight.

“Oh my gosh, Sloane. You will not believe what happened today,” I bellow through my bedroom. I called her as soon as I got home, placing her on speaker phone.

“Aliens abducted you, or I know, you’re finally telling the world you’re really a dragon?” she says with sarcasm.

“Ha! You’re so funny, but no. None of those, actually, dang it. Anyways, Luke asked me out!” I squeal.

“No freaking way! Where’s he taking you?” she questions.

“Only my favorite, sushi. I can’t believe it,” I go to my closet trying to figure out what I should wear.

“What is he a unicorn? How did he know that sushi is the way to your heart? I mean even my desserts don’t get you going as much as sushi,” we chuckle together, Sloane is not wrong. My love for sushi is extreme, but our small town doesn’t cater to the second love of my life, the first being coffee, of course.

“I have no idea, but now I have an hour to get ready, are jeans appropriate with heels and a nice shirt, or should I dress up more?” Ugh, it seems when you have somewhere to go, you have nothing to freaking wear.

“Oh, I know, wear your high waisted skinny jeans, not the ripped ones though, your cognac ankle booties, and that olive green sweater you just found a couple of weeks ago.” Sloane and I have become two peas in a pod lately, and I love it.

“Thank God I have you. Okay, I’m off of here. Love you doll.”

“Always, love you, and you better call me when you get home!” she exclaims.

  “You got it, bye.”

“Bye,” we end our phone call, I make my way to the shower. As much as I love coffee, smelling like it on a first date may not be a good thing.

The whole time I’m in the shower, butterflies swirl around in my body. I never thought Luke would approach me, and now that he has, I don’t want to screw it up.

Getting ready with my silk robe that my mother sent from New York on, I take my time with my hair and make-up, before going through my closet, finding the clothes suggested, and laying them out until I get my undergarments set out that I want to wear.

I shouldn’t be this nervous, but I can’t quite stop the hopeful feeling I have floating around in my system.

I knock on her front door, the bunch of wildflowers I picked up from the florist in town in the other one. I’m in unchartered territory with Kinsley, I don’t do this, as in I’ve never done this before. The date, the flowers, wanting to have someone permanent in my life, but with Kinsley, I want it all, and I want to give my everything to her.

“Hey,” she’s breathless as she opens her door. Kinsley’s hair is down, her soft blonde hair hanging down below her breasts, wanting it fisted in my hands as she takes my cock down her throat.

“Stunning, you’re absolutely stunning,” is the way I greet her. She’s in skintight jeans that elongate her legs, the sweater she’s wearing is simple in style, but on her, it’s perfection.

“Thank you,” her head tips up, I want to feel her lips on mine.

“Just stating the truth, Kinsley.” Instead of kissing her like I want to, I hand her the flowers, “These are for you.”

“Thank you, Luke,” she leans up on her toes and kisses my cheek. I should have moved so her lips would land on mine.

“Do we have time for me to put them in some water before we go?” she asks.

“Take your time, our reservations aren’t for another hour,” Kinsley holds the door open for me to follow her.

Her apartment is on the smallish side, but it’s full of personality. Every nook and cranny has something packed in it, plants are on bookshelves, along with photo albums, framed pictures, and books. There’s a coffee mug sitting on a side table, you can tell where she sits the most, it’s an oversized chair with an ottoman in a deep teal color. It’s the exact opposite of my home, a cape cod style home, in neutral colors. Not a drop of blues, greens, reds, or yellows.

This shows me who Kinsley is. I turn my head towards the kitchen where there’s an overhang over the kitchen counter with barstools, but other than the living room and kitchen, it’s all you can see without walking down a hallway.

The barstools are white with coral popping through the distressed look. When I look at Kinsley, her tongue is between her teeth as she arranges the flowers in a bright yellow vase. For someone who doesn’t smile a lot, I’m finding one permanently etched on my face when I’m around Kinsley.

“These really are pretty, I love them,” Kinsley says to me as she walks the vase of flowers over to the coffee table.

“I’m glad you like them,” when she comes back towards me, I can’t stop myself. I bring her into my arms and hold her. Needing to feel her in the shelter of my arms.

Kinsley sinks into me, letting me hold her, even for just a few brief seconds.

She pulls back, “I’m not a very good host, I should have asked if you’d like anything while I was working on the flowers.”

“It’s okay, maybe next time?” I reply.

“Definitely, let me grab my purse and we can leave,” I watch her walk away. Those damn jeans are going to be the death of me.

Dinner was amazing, I’m pretty sure I gorged myself with all the sushi Luke and I ordered. It was the best night ever, the best part though, it was falling asleep in his arms on the couch, where we still are now. I slept on his chest, his heart lulled me to sleep, more than the food and the movie we put on when we got back here.

Luke’s breathing tells me he’s still in a deep sleep. I take this as my opportunity to watch him and catalogue every feature he has. His hair is a deep chestnut brown, not a gray hair in sight, he has a couple of wrinkles around his eyes, even in sleep. His lips that I was lucky enough to feel against my own last night, are soft. The five o’clock shadow that’s now on his face only adds to how handsome Luke is.

Attempting to be quiet and not make too much noise, I slowly crawl off of him. “Umph,” I let out as I’m pulled back down on his warm body.

“Where are you going?” Luke asks, his voice husky from sleep.

  “Good m
orning, to the bathroom, and to put on a pot of coffee.” He allows me to get up this time, but before he does, he plants a soft kiss on my lips, and then I get up to do what I need to. While I’m taking care of things in the bathroom, my brain is wondering if he’ll stay for breakfast or if he’ll have to leave soon. Today is my lucky day, I don’t have to be at the coffee shop at all. I’m usually there no matter what, but with Luke in my living room, I want to be with him more. I wash my hands and then make my way to the kitchen.

Luke is still lying on my couch, it looks like he’s fallen asleep. Veering off to the kitchen, I start my Smeg retro coffee maker, it was my one splurge. Everything else you find around my house are things I’ve picked up along the way at antique stores, flea markets, and even garage sales.

I’m reaching up to pull down the coffee mugs from the shelf when two hands wrap around my waist, my body does a full body shiver, rocking back into Luke.

“Good morning, let me help?” he questions.

“Sure, can you grab the creamer out of the fridge?”

“You got it, want to grab something for breakfast or eat here?” I guess that answers my question.

“We can eat here, that way we both don’t have to wait on one another. I have all the ingredients for Belgian waffles and bacon, is that okay?”

“Hell yeah it is, let me have this cup of coffee, and I’ll help you get things started,” he brings his cup of black coffee to his lips. I cringe inside not understanding how people can drink bean water.

“You enjoy your black coffee, I’ll doctor mine up and have some creamer with my coffee,” we laugh together. That’s how we spend the rest of our morning.

When he has to leave, it’s with a lingering kiss, and a promise to come back for dinner. This time he’ll bring something over and cook for me. Even though, he helped me with breakfast.

I left her with a kiss and a promise to come back, wanting her at my place tonight for dinner, but not offering. She wakes up earlier than I do for the coffee shop, so I figure I’ll stay until her eyes are rolling in the back of her head. Sadly, it won’t be from my mouth, fingers, or cock.

Walking into my house, I see the starkness about it, there’s only a handful of pictures of my parents and me. The walls are still the white they were painted when I bought this place, the furniture is sparse, with just the bare necessities.

This house may be bigger than Kinsley’s home, but it’s lacking that sense of cozy, home feeling. Even, my mother would be appalled if she saw this place.

My parents split up when I hit college, and with that mom moved far away from my father, not that I blame her. He worked more than he saw either one of us, I think it built up a resentment with all of us. Growing up he’d miss sports, school awards, me being sick. Hell, mom would be sick, and she still wouldn’t miss a single thing for me.

Shaking myself out of my thoughts, I grab my bag, slide in my laptop, charger, and paperwork that I’ll need to work on later tonight.

I head upstairs to take a shower, stripping as soon as I get in my bedroom. I throw my clothes in the hamper and walk into my massive bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Sleeping with Kinsley was a slice of heaven on earth, the only problem was her couch. My neck is giving me hell for it.

Once I’m in the shower, I take my time standing under the water, letting it pound over my body. The one thing missing here is Kinsley. I’d have her slammed up against the tile wall, her legs wrapped around mine as my body takes every inch of hers.

My cock is standing straight up, there’s no amount of cold water that will calm his ass down either. I take my fist to my cock, knowing I’ll need to take the edge off before I go back to Kinsley.

I envision her here with me, on her knees, taking me down the back of her throat, sucking down every ounce I have to give her, or maybe I’m on my knees, her legs thrown over my shoulders, while I finally get a sweet taste of her pussy. It makes me wonder if her pussy is bare. I can’t fucking wait to have her flavor on my tongue. My head is thrown back, my hand is working my cock hard and fast, when I visualize Kinsley coming with my tongue, I come right along with it.

Painting the shower with ropes of my come, wishing like hell I was coming on Kinsley’s body instead, marking her, and making her mine.

“Fuck,” I grunt. I rewash my body, step out of the shower, do what needs to be done, and get back to my woman.

A part of me thinks Luke and I are moving too fast, but the other part is saying, jump. Jump with your two front feet, and don’t be afraid to fall. So, that’s what I’m doing, and when I called my parents to check in on them, I talked their ear off about Luke last night. They were both excited to hear, well maybe not dad. I think he wanted to threaten to pull out his shotgun and give Luke a warning that he might get a butt full of buckshot if he hurt his little girl. I could hear it in the gruffness of his tone.

Mom is more soft spoken, but I could hear the glee in her voice when she spoke. I hung up with them and immediately dialed Sloane, “I should kick your ass, why didn’t you call me last night?” is how she answers the phone.

“Hi to you too, by the way, and I would have, but um…Luke and I fell asleep.”

“Wait, shut the front door,” she hollers into the phone. I’m really glad I’ve learned my lesson time and time again with Sloane when she’s on the phone she gets fired up. I always put her on speaker phone when I call.

“Nothing like that, crazy girl. We sat on the couch after dinner, talked, watched a movie, and fell asleep,” I explain to her.

“Well that’s kind of boring, but good too. I guess you’re forgiven,” she blows out a breath of air.

“Gee, thanks. He is coming back over later on this afternoon, we’re going to do dinner here, since I have to be at the shop early tomorrow morning, and he doesn’t have to be at the office until nine o’clock,” my mind replaying how Luke basically told me what was on our agenda today.

“I want more details tomorrow, I’ll even sneak away from the bakery and you know, hand deliver your goods. It’s been awhile since I’ve had one of your amazing coffees,” Sloane states.

“Sounds like a plan, I’m going to clean up my mess of a place and get ready for Luke. See you tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” Sloane laughs as she hangs up on her end. I click the end button and get on some old clothes and scrub down my house. I haven’t properly cleaned in weeks and boy does it show. For the next three hours, I dust, vacuum, clean my bedroom, make my bed that I never made the day before, pick up the living room, and clean the bathroom.

I’m ashamed how much I haven’t picked up after myself, especially in the bathroom. I have every hair product out that I own.

“Ugh,” I grumble as I finally finish cleaning. With how long it took me I’ll be lucky if I have time to shower before Luke makes it back to my place.

The good news though, I look around my place, the windows are open, there’s a breeze coming through them, and my house sparkles.

I always loathe doing this, but love what it looks like when it’s done.

I was going to swing by the grocery store on my way to Kinsley’s house, but wanted to have her around me. Plus what other way to show the people that I’ve staked my claim on Kinsley than for them to see us out and about together.

Pulling in around the back parking lot, I see just how busy Topped Off is even on Sunday. This woman, she surprises me at every turn. At the age of twenty-three she’s accomplished a lot more than people double her age. I admire the hell out of her. I climb out of my SUV, slamming the door as I leave, and take her stairs to get to her.

While walking upstairs, I can hear the music she has playing in her place, it’s a soft soothing bluesy tone, her windows are open. Making my way to her door, I can hear Kinsley humming along to the music. I hate to knock and interrup
t her, but I can’t stay away.

I knock on the door a few times, Kinsley must not be able to hear. I try the doorknob on a whim, praying like hell her door will be locked. My luck is out, her door opens, and as pissed off as I am with her for not locking her door, the sight of her dancing around in her place stops me in my tracks.

She’s in a loose shirt, a pair of jeans that are rolled up a couple of times, showing off her delicate ankles.

“Kinsley, beautiful,” I say out loud getting her attention.

“Oh, hey there,” she grabs the remote and turns it down. The smile on her face has me stalking towards her, my hands find her cheeks, holding them while I bend down and graze her lips.

When she lets out a soft sigh, my tongue comes out, licking at her top lip, tasting her flavor of mint with the undertone of coffee. Fuck, she tastes good. Kinsley melts under my ministrations, I take my time with her. My tongue finds hers, she’s shy at first, but I coax her to give me more, more of what I want, and more of what I need.

Kinsley moans into my mouth, with that, one hand moves to the small of her back, making it to where there’s nothing between us. My other hand is still holding her, just the way I want it.

With one last deep kiss, we break apart. If I had it my way, I would live off of her kisses alone.

“Hey,” she breathes, her lips lush and full from our kisses.

“Hey, not to be a dick, but Kinsley, baby. I need you to lock your door,” I state.

“I have the worst habit, I know it. My dad tells me constantly to lock my doors, but I still forget. I’ll try to be better, but uh, there’s no guarantees,” she explains.
