“Don’t stop,” Samantha moaned as she ran her fingers through his hair as her legs fell open and her hips rolled, riding his tongue.

With every moan and roll of her hips, the urge to bite her became stronger. He’d been able to ignore it before, too focused on the pleasure that she’d given him, but there was something about the way that she moved that made him want to sink his fangs in her.

He’d been able to fight his need to bite her, the need to mark her as he fucked her until now. Now, he needed to know what it felt like to sink his fangs in her soft skin as he slid his cock inside her. He ran his tongue between her legs one last time before he crawled up her body, kissing and licking his way as he went while the woman beneath him ran her hands over him.

As he pressed a kiss against her neck, he rolled his hips and-

“Oh, god, Trace,” his wife moaned as he slid inside her.

She was so fucking wet, Trace thought as he rolled his hips, sliding his cock inside her as she wrapped her legs around him. She was so fucking wet, he thought pulling back only to slide back inside and do it again and again, until he was fucking her harder and faster, each thrust earning a moan, a gasp, and a plea for more as he reached between them, cupping her breast in his hand as he buried his face against her neck.

He ground his teeth, fighting the urge to bite her only to find himself licking his lips as she let her legs fall open so that she could meet his thrusts. She felt so fucking good, he thought, unable to fuck her hard enough or fast enough as pleasure took over his body, sending intense pleasure through his cock as his fangs throbbed in his mouth, needing to bite her, needing to know if her blood was just as sweet as she was between her legs and-

A growl was torn from him when the first drop of blood hit his tongue.

A moan escaped her when she felt his fangs cut into her neck as he slid back inside her. It shouldn’t feel this good, Samantha thought, but as he slowed his thrusts into her so that he was slowly rolling his hips in time with the way his mouth moved on her neck, she couldn’t help but moan.

It felt so good, she thought, licking her lips as she ran one hand down his back and over his ass, using her hold to encourage him to keep going as she cupped the back of his head. She couldn’t help but moan as she rolled her hips to meet his thrusts and when her orgasm came, she couldn’t bite back the scream of pleasure that tore through her.

As she screamed his name, he released his hold on her breast and wrapped his arms around her, holding her closer as he released his bite so that he could kiss her as his thrusts became harder and faster until all she could do was wrap her arms around him and hold on as he sent her over the edge one last time.

  Chapter 40

“I’m gonna go take a nap,” his wife mumbled sleepily as she snuggled closer to him but made no move to get up.

Unable to help but smile, Trace leaned down and pressed a kiss against her forehead as he said, “You want me to carry you, don’t you?”

“That really went without saying,” she said, even as she raised one small hand and gestured for him to get on with it.

Knowing better than to argue with his wife, especially when she was cranky, he wrapped his arms around her and stood up, ignoring the curious looks the shifter was sending his way and the murderous glares that her brother was sending him and carried his wife upstairs.

When he reached their room, he carefully placed her on the bed and sighed when the dog joined her, curling up next to her as Trace tucked her in. By the time that he leaned in and kissed her forehead, she was fast asleep. For a moment, he was tempted to join her but decided against it. She was exhausted and he knew that if he joined her that she wouldn’t get much sleep tonight.

With one last kiss, he quietly closed the door behind him and headed downstairs to find the shifter and Sentinel still eating…and still watching him.

Muttering, “Fucking asshole,” Nathan grabbed another slice of pizza as Trace sat down.

“How did you do that?” Kale asked, taking a bite of pizza as he continued to watch him.

“Do what?” Trace asked, debating getting a bag of cold blood, but after tasting his wife’s blood…

  Her blood had been intoxicating.

It had been rich, hot, and sweet, a little too sweet. It had been like drinking warm cider laced with honey. As much as he’d enjoyed her blood, Trace would never be able to consume a lot of it. He had a feeling that drinking Sentinel blood would be like drinking pure honey, something that he wasn’t interested in finding out. Now shifter blood on the other hand…

He could definitely survive on shifter blood, Trace thought as he met the shifter’s curious gaze. “How did you mark her without losing control?” Kale asked as the Sentinel continued to glare.

  “I don’t know,” Trace lied.

When he’d scented her blood in the woods, he’d lost control because the scent of her blood had been overwhelming. When he bit her last night, her scent never got the chance to take him by surprise. The first drop hit his tongue before her scent did, and once it did, he’d been in complete control, focused on the woman moaning his name and just how good she felt. The scent that she gave off was just enough to tease him, but her blood was just sweet enough to stop him from losing control. He had a feeling the Sentinel glaring at him had something to do with it.

“Why aren’t you eating?” the Sentinel asked, gesturing towards the pizza.

“I can’t eat food,” Trace said, biting back a disappointed sigh because that was one thing that he actually missed about being human. Not that he missed his father’s burnt stew or the stale bread that he’d served with it, but he wouldn’t have minded being able to try some of the food that his wife seemed so fond of.

“What are you talking about? Pytes can eat,” Nathan said, frowning as he gestured towards the pizza that he’d been curious about since the first time the Sentinel brought it home. Trace glanced at the shifter for confirmation only to find Kale still watching him, frowning as though he couldn’t quite seem to figure something out.

“Are you sure?” Trace asked, reaching for a slice of pizza, admittedly curious to see what the big deal was.

  “Positive.”

“I’m going to kill you,” Samantha calmly explained with a nod as she watched Trace stumble out of the bathroom and drop face down on the bed with a groan.

“You’re really going to blame me for this?” Nathan asked with a pitying shake of his head and a sigh.

“No, I’m going to kill you for this,” Samantha said, narrowing her eyes on her brother.

“Hey, no one forced him to eat all that ice cream. I was just as surprised as you were,” Nathan said, holding his hands up in surrender.

“You told him that the ice cream would make his stomach feel better!”

“And I honestly thought that it would help,” Nathan said, dropping his hands with another sigh.

“You are lying your ass off, Nathan Lukas,” Samantha bit out with a glare only to end up worrying her bottom lip and glance over her shoulder when Trace made another one of those disturbing sounds that was really starting to worry her.

“He’ll be fine,” Nathan said, waving it off, but something, mostly the fact that Trace was back to mumbling, “Please kill me,” had her wondering if he would be.

“Look, he’s able to talk again,” Nathan said, shrugging it off.

“He’s begging for death, you asshole!” Samantha snapped, rubbing her temples as she glanced from Trace, who really didn’t look so good, back to Nathan and-

“Ow! What the hell was that for?” he demanded, rubbing his arm while she stood there, seriously tempted to slap him again.

  “I saw that smile!”

“What? I’m just happy he’s okay,” Nathan said, trying to appear innocent and failing miserably.

Nodding, Samantha said, “I’m going to kill you.”

“Oh, come on! It’s not like he didn’t have this coming!”
Nathan said, gesturing towards Trace whose eyes had gone red and were now focused on her brother.

“What the hell did he do to you?” Samantha demanded even as she decided that it would probably be a good idea to finish this conversation in the hallway where Trace wouldn’t be tempted to rip her brother’s throat out. With that in mind, she shoved the large bastard out of the room before quietly closing the door behind her and-

  Sighed.

Just freaking sighed when she suddenly found herself thrown over her brother’s shoulder and heading towards the stairs. “Seriously? This again?”

“We need to get out of here,” Nathan said as he quickly made his way downstairs and headed for the front door.

“I made a promise, Nathan,” she said, wondering why they were even having this conversation again.

“I don’t fucking care,” he said, heading to the door and-

“What the hell did you do to me?” Kale demanded as she suddenly found herself placed on her feet in time to see the large shifter’s legs give out and drop him to the floor with a pained groan.

“Learned my lesson the first time,” Nathan said as he calmly walked over to the man that had been watching her every move since she’d been allowed to leave her room and searched his pockets until he found his keys.

“She’s staying,” Kale mumbled weakly only to release another pained groan as he rolled over onto his side.

“No,” Nathan said as he pocketed the keys, “she’s not.”

“What did you do to him?” Samantha asked, worrying her hands together as she watched the shifter place his hand over his stomach with a groan.

“Used the fact that he hasn’t shifted in over five hundred years against him,” Nathan said, giving the shifter a patronizing pat on the head that had the shifter’s eyes turning silver and-

“Is he dead?” she asked, moving to go check on Kale only to have Nathan take her hand in his and head towards the front door.

“No, he’s enjoying the aftereffects of eating pizza sprinkled with ground-up poppy seeds,” Nathan said with a satisfied sigh before absently adding, “It makes shifters sick.”

“Oh, my god,” she mumbled as she glanced back towards the stairs. “You made Trace sick on purpose.”

“Really didn’t have a choice,” Nathan said, moving to head out the door only to have her pull her hand free and step back.

“What the hell’s going on?” Samantha demanded, taking a step back when he went to grab her hand again.

“I’ll tell you in the car, but for right now, we really need to get the hell out of here.”

“What are you talking about?” Samantha asked, trying to make sense of what was happening.

“They’re coming, Sam. That’s the only reason why you’re still here. He wants them to come and he doesn’t fucking care if you get in the way,” Nathan said, gesturing for her to come with him.

“Then we need to get him out of here, Nathan,” Samantha said, turning around to go get Trace so that she could get him out of here.

“We don’t have time for this. They’re coming, Sammie,” he said as he reached over and grabbed her before she could move away from him.

“I’m not leaving him,” she said, trying to break free, but Nathan simply ignored her as he threw her over his shoulder, headed for the front door, and-

“I really wouldn’t do that if I were you,” came the softly spoken words that had Nathan dropping her on her feet and shoving her back just as several large beasts that left no doubt in her mind that they were werewolves stepped onto the porch as a small woman with hair that looked like it had been spun from gold, pale skin, and the bluest and cruelest eyes that Samantha had ever seen pointed at her with, “That one.”

Before Samantha could struggle to take her next breath, one of the werewolves grabbed hold of Nathan only to have him backhand the beast and send it flying as another beast dropped down on all fours, leaned over and-

Tore a scream from her as it sank its teeth into her thigh, leaving her with no other choice but to pass out from the pain.

  Chapter 41

“You fucking bitch,” Ethan managed to get out as he was slammed against the cell wall as two fucking mutts forced him to the cold metal floor so that they could chain him to the wall as he glared at the bitch that he was going to fucking kill.

“Kind of ironic, don’t you think?” Mary asked, gesturing around them as she took in the cells that he’d had built for her.

“I’m going to make you fucking pay,” Ethan said, watching as the woman that had played them so fucking well ran one well-manicured hand over the expensive silk blouse that she’d been forced to change into after the Sentinel’s blood had ruined the last one.

“I think you have other things to worry about right now, don’t you?” she asked with a pointed look at the cell next to them, the one that he hadn’t been able to force himself to look at.

“More blood,” Mary said, stepping out of the way as the mutts that she’d hired to guard him for the past few weeks finished securing him to the wall and headed for the cell door as his attention was drawn to the cell next to him.

  Oh, god…

He watched as the Ramjis demons that she’d hired double-checked the chains while several of her Packmates forced blood down his son’s throat while Trace laid there…

He’d been so fucking foolish, Ethan thought, watching as the small woman that they’d used to lure his son out of the house so that they could shoot him, was carried into the basement. When the demon went to place her in the cell with the Sentinel, Mary shook her head and gestured towards his son’s cell with, “Put her in there. Make sure to keep her out of his reach so that I can see what we’re dealing with here.”

With a nod, the demon carried the unconscious woman that had the Sentinel losing his fucking mind into his son’s cell and placed her on the floor, not bothering with the chains since she wasn’t going anywhere. Not with that leg wound, Ethan thought as he ran his gaze over the small woman, noting how pale she was before his gaze landed on the leg wound that someone had wrapped in a half-assed bandage.

God, he was a fucking idiot.

For years, he’d been so wrapped up in his plans that he’d never realized that the bitch had been making plans of her own. Everything had been so well-orchestrated, absolutely fucking everything, from the way they’d used Ramjis demons to follow them, knowing that they wouldn’t be able to scent the demons or hear their heartbeats to the way they’d grabbed them. There had been no rush or missteps. They’d simply executed a well-thought-out plan that he’d blindly walked into.

He’d been too fucking cocky and now they were all paying for it, Ethan thought while he watched as they dragged Jacob into the Sentinel’s cell and chained him to the wall next to Kale, who looked absolutely fucking furious. Not that he could blame him, Ethan thought as he watched the shifter try to remain conscious, but the diluted silver nitrate that they’d injected him with was slowly tearing him apart. It wouldn’t kill him. They’d made sure of that, but Ethan had a feeling that the shifter wished it would.

“What should we do with you?” Mary murmured thoughtfully, dragging his attention to the small woman who he hadn’t seen in over two weeks.

He’d been painfully aware of her absence for every fucking second that they’d kept her from him. For the past two and a half weeks, he’d been forced to listen to her panicked heartbeats, scent her fear, and it had damn near killed him. He could have handled anything that they threw at him, but being forced to listen as they’d hurt her…

He hadn’t been able to handle that.

The first time he’d heard them strike her, he’d lost it. He’d fought against his chains to get to her, screamed at the top of his lungs with every broken sob and whimper that came out of her cell only to realize that he’d given away too much. It had taken everything that he had, but he’d forced himself to stop reacting every time he heard her cell door open.

  “What do you think, Ethan?
Should we put her in here with you?” Mary asked, watching him as he kept his gaze locked on his son.

“I don’t fucking care what you do with her,” Ethan said, making sure to sound bored.

“But you went through so much trouble to get her,” Mary pointed out only to sigh before she added, “I guess we could finish her punishment now that we have some time.”

Grinding his jaw, Ethan kept his eyes locked on his son, telling himself that the only thing that mattered was getting his son out of here before it was too late and-

“You can choose someone else to finish your punishment, Mistake,” Mary explained in a tauntingly sweet voice, but that’s not what had him turning his head to look at Indie.

  It was the name.

  They’d called her Mistake.

“All you have to do is look at someone and they’ll take your place,” Mary said, sounding bored while Indie stood there, staring straight ahead as a shifter picked up a flat board and-

  Utterly fucking destroyed him.

“Fucking look at me!” Trace heard someone scream as he slowly opened his eyes and frowned, wondering what he was doing in the cellar as he turned his head and felt the air rush out of his lungs.

“Samantha?” he said, trying not to panic as he sat up only to growl in frustration when he found his arms shackled to the wall when he reached for her. She was pale, so damn pale, he thought as terror tore through him while the scent of her blood saturated his lungs and he realized that her breaths were shallow.

“Wife?” Trace said, reaching for her again only to have his arms pulled up short. “Samantha?” he bit out, ignoring everything else around him as he focused on her.

Why the hell wasn’t she moving?

  “Samantha?”
