“Careful,” he tells me. “I’ve waited so long for this moment. I want it to last.”
So I let him set the pace, memories of my own first time spilling back to me as I witness how much pleasure he takes in every step of our coupling. For me, it felt naughty and a little bit wrong. The complete opposite of this moment. Nero dressed as the professor I’d been crushing on in private for months, acting as if that’s who he was. He’d never fucked me in his true form until the night he got me pregnant. The cocks he used in human form stayed human. I can’t even imagine what it might have felt like if he’d knotted in me back then.
Sirius sits up a little and raises my arms above my head, pinning them with one hand as he continues thrusting into me. “I love you, Maeve,” he whispers as he comes inside me.
His confession seals it. He’s mine, like the others. He’s a part of this now, our family.
“I love you too, Sirius.”
He kisses me again one last time before breaking our embrace.
“If you need to go I understand.”
He means to look after the babies. I think about Nero having to walk them up and down the hall all night and it makes me smile.
“I don’t need to go anywhere.” I pull him back to my side. “I’m sleeping with you tonight.”
Nero’s waiting in his human form when I go back to our room in the morning, bottle feeding the girls. My attempt to sneak in is busted. Damn. My legs are a little shaky from the continual rounds of physical indulgence with Sirius, who proved about as boundless as a typical eighteen-year-old. Being deprived physical pleasure his whole life, I couldn’t blame him for the excitement level he exuded.
“Long night?” Nero asks, raising his eyebrows.
“I’m not going to kiss and tell.”
“You don’t need to,” he tells me, glancing me over. “Your legs are shaking and you have that far-away look you get when you’ve been satisfied multiple times.”
Blast him. I flush and head toward the bathroom. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You’re only fooling yourself,” he calls after me.
I clean up and emerge wrapped in a towel some twenty minutes later, to find Finn and his daughter saying hello to the babies. I smile at them and make a quick dash to the bedroom to dress.
My legs are still a little shaky when I put on my heels. I ignore it. The feeling will fade and I’ll want more soon enough. When I walk back out of the room I see everyone’s come over. Dean, Damon, and Sirius have joined Nero, Finn and the girls in the living room while I was dressing.
My heart swells at the sight of everyone that I care about together in the same room. Nero and Finn are holding our babies while Caitlyn persuades Damon to show her how to play cards on the coffee table. There are chocolate coins which they seem to be using as chips. Dean’s still a little in work mode, on a call to the security office, but that’s just Dean. I smile at Sirius as I step into the room and pull him into a seat next to me, close to Caitlyn.
“What’s happening here?” I ask, earning a grin from the little girl.
“I’m winning all the money is what’s happenin’,” she tells me, making Finn laugh.
“Like father, like daughter,” he says with a shrug.
“She’s a shark,” Damon agrees.
Caitlyn glowers at him. “No am not.”
“She’s a sweetheart,” I correct him, making her beam.
“See,” she says, “Mummy says… Wait. I forgot to ask.” She turns to me. “Daddy says yer the best woman in all the lands an’ he’s never leaving ye in a million years.”
I choke up at Finn’s sweet explanation and his daughter’s cute speech.
Caitlyn clears her throat theatrically. “An’ ye are the twins mummy, so I wanted to ask ye to be mine as well.”
She blushes a little as she waits for my answer. Truth is I’m stunned. It’s been a pleasure having her around and she always will be. I just didn’t expect this.
“Aw, sweetheart, that would be wonderful.”
She hugs me, and I hold her close, tears welling in my eyes. When I look around the room and see how much I’ve gained in this last year, how much things have changed for the better, I can’t help but wonder how I got this lucky. Everything has fallen together so perfectly.
How lucky can one djinn be? I guess the answer is infinitely.
I hope you enjoyed Lucky Streak. This novella follows on from Hard Luck and Lucky in Love, which was originally published in Lucky Between the Sheets, with the title Charming the Djinn. The characters demanded their story be expanded on and this is where it ends – for now. I never quite say never when it comes to endings. This is because there are endless possibilities and anything my readers demand more of I’ll do my best to deliver. So if there’s enough demand I’ll consider writing more in this world.
