Zeck

I chuckled as the interviewer just about melted into a puddle on her seat across from us before I leaned into Dillon.

“Good one, bro. You just made her and the rest of the female population, when they see this interview, fall even more in love with you and envy Ashlyn.”

The woman must have heard me as she sat up straight and focused in on me. I swallowed nervously. Oh crap.

“Zeck, speaking of women. Rumor has it that you were spotted shopping at Garrard & Co. a few weeks ago. Care to comment on that?”

I relaxed back into the chair. “Of course I was spotted there. Where else would I go when I needed to buy an engagement ring?”

I covered my laugh with a cough as the interviewer tried to remain professional. After a few moments she cleared her throat and resumed.

“Have you popped the big question yet? If you have, what did Issy say?”

“Of course I have. No way would I release that info to the public before I asked her.” I looked directly at the closest camera with my trademark smirk. “And naturally, she said yes. I’m irresistible.” With a wink I waited for my band-mates to stop laughing before I continued. “Seriously, Issy is my other half. I didn’t know I could feel like this about a woman until I met her. Issy owns my heart and soul, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Dillon leaned toward me. “Now who’s making ovaries explode across the world?”

“Would you like to tell us how you popped the big question?”

I was so grateful the questions about my sex life had stopped. The first couple of interviews after the scandal had honed in on BDSM and domestic violence. Issy and I had followed the advice of our publicist and stuck with a “we wish to keep our private life, private”. That and we kept quiet, avoiding public scenes where we’d be caught by the media. So now the hype had died down and I got to respond to questions like this one that I didn’t have a problem in the world with answering.

“Well, I took her out to our favorite restaurant for dinner. Then when we got home I settled her on the couch before I grabbed my guitar. I’d written a song for the occasion so I sang it to her, then dropped to one knee and pulled out the ring.”

She’d said yes, squealed like a schoolgirl, then jumped on me. But I wasn’t telling that on live TV. Nor was I confessing that after I took her on the floor, I took her to bed where I bound her in rope and spent the whole night making love to her every way we could think of. But that shit was private, and always would be.

“That is so beautiful. Will the song be on the next album?”

I shook my head. “No way. That one will always be only for my Issy.”

“That’s a pity. Like most of your fans, I would have liked to have heard it.”

“Ah well, I assure you there’ll be songs about her on the next album. Just not that particular one.”

Grace stirred and made a gurgling noise that drew all attention to her. Dillon rearranged his hold on her so she faced out, and naturally the cameraman zoomed in on her sweet little face.

“Zeck, you and Dillon have always been competitive in all things. Does that mean the pitter-patter of little feet for you and Issy soon?”

I threw my head back, laughing hard.

“Well, we both ended up with Australian women within the same tour. So I guess I’d better get moving to keep up with him on the baby front. Although, I will add that having a family is an important choice and not something to be taken lightly or in jest. But yeah, Issy and I would love nothing more than to give Grace a playmate.”

As the interviewer moved onto Law I sat there grinning as I imagined how beautiful Issy would look with her tummy rounded out with our baby. It had become my favorite daydream. My life since joining Right Time had been a roller coaster, but now with Issy, it all seemed to be leveling out into what looked like a bright future. Life was good. I just hoped Law and Alec could find their slice of heaven, too.
