Ryder growled at the touch of her fingers on his prick before lowering himself down slightly, pressing his head between her soaking lips. The moment he pushed his cock into her, any doubt that she was made for his body was dispelled. She wrapped around him perfectly, gripping the smooth shaft and coaxing more pleasure out of him the deeper he drove.

“How does it feel so fucking good?” she asked aloud. “How...how do you all feel so fucking good?”

Ryder answered with a smile. He knew it was because she was the one they’d been waiting for, the shifter who could bond with them all, who could give them the children they’d been wanting.

But he kept that to himself. Instead, he focused on the sight of the beautiful woman beneath him, her body squirming as he pounded into her tight pussy. Her breasts bounced as she bit down on her lower lip.

The sight was beyond compare, and the more he drove into her, the more he shoved his cock into her, the closer he came to the orgasm he knew only she could bring.

April’s cunt gripped him hard, her eyes going wide, a silent scream flowing from her mouth as she came. Ryder kept pumping, fucking her through the orgasm until his own was right there for the taking.

With a grunt, he came along with her. His seed shot into her, his prick draining within her silky walls. It was like nothing Ryder had ever felt before.

They finished their orgasms together, ending their lovemaking with a long, slow kiss. And it occurred to him that was exactly what it was—lovemaking. There was now a bond between them, a bond between all of them.

“I feel different,” said April as Ryder held her close. “Something’s changed inside of me. I don’t know what it is.”

“We’ve all changed,” he said. “The moment we came into each other’s lives, it was all different. There’s no going back...and I don’t want to.”

She smiled. “I don’t want to either.”

He brought his lips to hers and they kissed, slow and lingering like before. His hand stayed on the small of her back, her body warm and soft against his.

“I’ll be right back,” he said, giving her one more kiss before getting up and heading toward the door.

He threw on his pants and stepped out in the hallway. But right at the moment he crossed the threshold, he stopped.

There was a smell. Something in the air.

It was the smell of shifters.

Ryder rushed to Sean’s bedroom, but he was gone. Anger raged inside of him as the idea of something happening to Sean entered his mind. Then he ran to the living room where he could see out of the front windows.

Sean was there. And so was Sam.

  And so was Jonas.

“Ryder!” called out Jonas. “My man! Just the guy I’ve been wanting to see.”

  CHAPTER 16

  APRIL

Everything happened in a blur. Sam and Jonas, the leader of the brothers’ pack, burst into the house and grabbed April. Before she even had a chance to scream, she was out on the lawn with Sean and Ryder and the rest of the other wolves.

There was at least a dozen of them. April knew that between her and Sean and Ryder, they wouldn’t stand a chance.

  They were done.

“Alright!” said Sam, clasping his hands together. “Been a load of bullshit getting here, but I’ve got my damn wife and kid back.”

He stepped over to April, as cocky as he could be.

“Been too long, gorgeous.” She could smell the stink of booze on his breath. Everything about him sickened her.

“Fuck you.” Her words came out razor-sharp.

The group laughed. They clearly weren’t scared of her in the slightest.

“Mom!” shouted Sean as he struggled against the grasp of Jonas.

“Be calm!” she said. “I’m not going anywhere!”

“You’re going somewhere,” said Sam. “See, Jonas was cool enough to work with me on this little problem. I linked up with his guys after you were a no-show yesterday, told him that I had a situation with a set of triplets who’d been giving me a shitload of pain. And he was all too happy to help out.”

“Nice when shifters can work together,” said Jonas. “He had a problem, and we had a problem. And now, we have no problems. Easy, huh?”

The two men were full of themselves, certain they’d won.

“Jonas,” growled Ryder, his animal seeming on the verge of breaking loose. “I don’t know what the hell you’re planning, but you’re not going to get away with it.”

Jonas made a “blah, blah, blah” talking gesture with his hand.

“I’m sure you think that, but I’ve got you right where I want you. And when I’m done with you guys, your brothers are next.”

April and Ryder glanced at one another. Ryder’s expression was calm, and despite the terror she felt, he managed to put her at ease. At least, slightly more than she was. Seeing her son in danger filled her with an anger, a rage, that she could hardly contain.

But she knew she had to.

“You’re not going to do a damn thing,” said Ryder. “We’re going to come for you.”

“Big words for a bear who’s about to be dead,” said Jonas. He nodded to his men. “Take him to the dumping grounds. I don’t want to see this prick ever again.”

A few of the men formed up around Ryder as he thrashed against the ones holding him. But despite his anger, they overpowered him and took him over to one of the vans that some of the men had arrived in. They pulled open the doors and threw him in back. Moments later, he was gone.

Despair filled April. Ryder had sworn to protect her, but what could he do against all those men? She wondered if she would ever see him again.

“Alright,” said Sam. “Let’s get this fucking show on the road.”

“Back to camp,” said Jonas as he waved his hand in the air. “We’ll finish this there.”

April and Sean screamed as the men pulled them apart, April loaded into the back of one van and Sean in another. The engine roared, and they were off.

She spent the entire drive worried, terrified that something would happen to her son. But April knew she had to stay strong. If she didn’t have the brothers, if Sam and Jonas succeeded in their plan, she’d be the only one there for Sean. For his sake, she had to keep it together.

After a short drive, the van came to a stop. The engine ceased, and the doors opened moments later. Jonas’s men pulled April out of the van and dragged her out into the night.

She saw she was among a camp, one she guessed belonged to the brothers’ clan. It was a mess, with trash and beer bottles all strewn among passed-out shifters. The men dragged her to the largest building, a two-story cabin situated among smaller cabins. They brought her to the second floor, where Jonas and Sam awaited her. Then the men kicked her to her knees.

“Leave us,” said Jonas to the men. They did, and soon April and Sam and Jonas were alone.

  “Where’s Sean?” demanded April.

“He’s safe,” said Sam. “You think I’d let anything happen to my boy?”

Jonas pulled a whiskey bottle out of a desk drawer and took a long swig before handing it over to Sam.

“Thanks, partner,” he said, pulled a huge sip for himself.

“A drunk like you’ve always been,” said April. “Nothing’s changed.”

“Things have changed,” he said. “For one, I learned my wife was the type of woman to stab me in the fucking back.”

“And I learned that some wolves aren’t so bad after all,” said Jonas with a grin as he took the bottle back from Sam.

April swallowed her fear and spoke. “What...what the hell are you planning?”

“It’s simple,” said Jonas. “Your husband and I decided to work together.”

“Turned out we had a mutual problem—you and those three fucking brothers.”

“Right,” said Jonas. “I’ve got big plans for this territory, and those pricks have been standing in my way from day one.”

  “You’re full of shit,”
said April. “You’re the one who’s been driving the clan into the ground.”

Jonas laughed. “Is that what they told you? Sounds about right. Listen, this might come as a shock, but you can’t believe a fucking word that comes out of those assholes’ mouths. They wanted you, and they sold you whatever bullshit they needed to make it happen.”

“Wrong,” said April. “I know what kind of men they are. And I know what kind of men you two are, too.”

“God,” said Sam, shaking his head. “You got lippy since I last saw you. What happened to my sweet little April?”

“I was never yours,” she hissed. “And neither was Sean. You’re not a father—you’re not a man. You don’t deserve a boy like him.”

“And those asshole brothers do?” he asked.

“They were more fathers to him than you ever were.”

Sam’s expression hardened. She could tell she’d struck a nerve. He swiped the bottle from Jonas and drank hard.

“Whatever,” he said, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “Deserve doesn’t have anything to do with it. It’s all about taking what you want.”

“And is that what you’re going to do?” she asked. “Take us?”

“Something like that,” said Jonas. “Here’s the deal—in exchange for my help, Sam was nice enough to promise me...access to you. You’ll still be his husband, sure, but I’m going to be having some fun with you too.”

“You’re...serious?” asked April. “You’re sick, both of you.”

“You can think what you want,” said Sam, stepping near to her. He lowered himself until he was in her face. “But this is your new life now. And trust me, you’ll be happy I made the decision for the both of us.”

She didn’t need to hear any more. April pulled back and spit in Sam’s face. He responded with a quick slap across the cheek—but Jonas stopped him before he could connect.

“Easy, buddy. Keep her looking good for me, OK?”

Sam locked his eyes on to April, pure hate raging in them.

“Then get her out of my sight. She needs some time to think about what’s going to happen.”

Jonas called out to his men, the same two entering, grabbing April, and dragging her out. Moments later, she was in a dingy bedroom, the door locked behind her.

She wanted to stay strong. But deep down, she wondered if she’d been beat.

Maybe the brothers would come. All she could do was hope.

  CHAPTER 17

  RYDER

Ryder stared down at the bodies of the men of his clan. It hadn’t given him any pleasure to kill his own, but he knew it had to be done—it was either them or him.

He made a mental note of where he was in the woods, vowing to come back and give them a proper burial. They might’ve tried to kill him, but they were still his kin. And more than that, they were only following the orders of their alpha.

But he knew he didn’t have time to think the matter over too deeply. He had to get back to his brothers. He had to save April and Sean.

After shifting into his bear form, he took off into the woods, running as quickly as he could back to his ranch. Time was of the essence, and every minute Jonas and Sam had April was one minute too many. He could only guess what they had in store for her and her son.

He reached the ranch, saying a silent thanks as he saw that the members of his clan hadn’t yet attacked. Ryder shifted back into his bear form and was soon running through the front door.

Jack and Stone were there, hard looks on their faces.

  “You ready?” asked Stone.

“Whoa,” said Ryder. “Ready? Ready for what?”

Jack grinned. “Ready to attack. We’re moving on the Black Claws, and we’re doing it right fucking now.”

Ryder was stunned. He didn’t know what to make of this.

“What’ve you guys got planned?” he asked. “What’s going on?”

“When you didn’t check in with us, we knew something was up,” said Jack. “And we weren’t about to wait around to see what happened.”

“Right,” said Stone. “So we checked in with the loyalists at the clan camp. They told us what went down, that Sam and Jonas were working together.”

“Some serious bullshit,” said Jack. “No way we’re gonna let that happen.”

“They’ve got April,” said Ryder. “And they’ve got Sean.”

“We know,” said Stone. “But we’re gonna have them back soon as fucking possible.”

Ryder was pleased as hell. He knew he could count on his brothers to do what needed to be done.

“OK,” he said. “Then what’s the next move?”

“Apparently, Jonas and Sam are celebrating what they pulled off,” said Stone.

“Yeah,” said Jack. “They were planning on coming here to ‘finish the job,’ but decided to party and get drunk before they did. Guess they’re thinking a party before, and a party after.”

“Dumbasses,” said Ryder. “Then, we’re gonna take advantage.”

“That’s right,” said Jack. “The rest of the loyalists are waiting for us outside of the camp. We strike now, and we can take out Jonas and Sam before they know what the fuck hit them.”

“Then let’s do it,” said Ryder. “I don’t want to waste a fucking second.”

There was nothing else to be said. The three men grabbed their gear and went to the garage, each climbing onto one of the powerful motorcycles there and gunning the engines. The three of them drove through the woods, weaving in and out of the trees in their way.

Ryder was determined. Nothing was going to stop him from getting to April and Sean; nothing was going to keep him from the woman and boy he loved.

Love. The word stuck in his head. At first, it seemed strange, like it was too much. But the longer he considered it, the more he knew it was true. He loved April, and he loved Sean as if he were his own son.

The realization only made him more eager to get to the camp and do what needed to be done. When he spotted the figures of several men in the distance on the outskirts of camp, he was ready.

He recognized the group as loyalists, Mick among them. The men stopped their bikes a good distance away as not to draw attention and then approached.

“Hey!” shouted Mick. “There you guys are!”

The brothers hurried over, joining the group.

  “What’s the scene?” asked Ryder.

“It’s bad,” said Mick. “Jonas has been drinking hard, accusing anyone who doesn’t want to be totally chaotic along with him of not being a true member of the clan.”

“And Sam’s making it even worse,” said Parker, another loyalist. “They’re feeding into each other. If we don’t do something soon, Black Claw is done.”

“We’re not going to do something soon,” said Jack. “We’re going to do something right fucking now.”

“Let’s move!” called out Stone. “Shift and get into the camp!”

“We’ll distract the rest,” said Mick. “You guys move into the alpha cabin.”

“Right,” said Ryder. “Let’s do it.”

The bears all shifted, and together, they stormed toward the camp.

The other bears in the camp, the ones still on Jonas’s side, shifted as soon as they saw the group approach. Mick and the bears raced towards them, fierce fighting breaking out all around the brothers. But they continued on, cutting down the distance between them and the alpha cabin.

When they finally reached it, the sounds of battle all around them, Ryder shifted back to his human form and kicked down the door. A pair of guards were there waiting, and the brothers quickly shifted long enough to take them out before changing back and rushing up the stairs.

“I’ll get Sean!” said Ryder. “He’s got to be in one of the bedrooms!”

  “Got it!” called back Stone.

Ryder broke from the brothers and began checking the rooms. Finally, he found one that was locked and smashed through the door. Sean was there on the bed, his eyes l
ighting up as he saw who it was.

“Ryder!” he cried out, rushing over to him and throwing his arms around his waist.

“It’s me, buddy,” he said. “And you’re safe now.”

“What about Mom?” asked Sean. “Is she OK?”

“Let’s go make sure. Stone and Jack are on it.”

Together, they hurried back to the study. The door was already down, and Jack and Stone were shifted and inside, Sam and Jonas backed up against the wall.

April was there, a grin on her face as she realized the tables had been turned.

Sean broke from Ryder and ran over to April.

“Mom!” he shouted as he hugged her.

“Sean!” she hugged him back, tears in her eyes as she covered his face in kisses.

“Alright, alright,” said Jonas, clearly drunk out of his mind. “Let’s...not go crazy here. We can talk.”

“Yeah,” said Sam. “We can talk.”

“Nothing to talk about,” said Ryder. “April, don’t let Sean watch this.”

April nodded, turning Sean’s head away. With blinding speed, Ryder flew over the desk, wrapped his arms around Jonas’s head, and gave a quick twist. His body went limp, and Ryder dropped him to the ground.

“Holy shit!” cried Sam. “You...you killed him!”

“Yeah,” said Jack. “And you’re next.”

Stone smirked, an idea seeming to occur to him. “Maybe we let Sean do this? He’s not a man until he makes his first shifter kill, right?”

Sean turned to face his father.

“You wouldn’t do that, would you, son?”

His boy stared at him hard. Ryder watched, waiting to see what he would do. The kid certainly had the power to take Sam down.

“You hurt Mom,” said Sean. “And you wanted to hurt my new family.”

He nodded toward the brothers. A warmth spread through Ryder at Sean’s words.

“So,” Sean continued, “maybe I should.”

  “Sean!” exclaimed Sam.

“But...I’m not gonna. But I want you to leave and run away. I never want to see you again.”

Sam nodded, apparently understanding that he was done. Without saying another word, he ran from the cabin and was gone.
