The Price of Loving A Boss
Page 13
“Yes. To see a movie. Haven’t been in forever,” I said as he stood and we walked out the door.
“What you want to see?” he asked.
“Hmmm, I don’t know. Let’s just see when we get there.”
Chapter Thirty-Four
Patricia
“That’s not Davinchi,” I said as we watched that Diamond hoe go into the movies with another man.
“Damn, sure isn’t,” Skata said. We had been watching and following her ever since she left Starbucks. Thanks to her, I now knew where she stayed. Well, I knew the building, not the actual apartment number but I could find out.
“Who is he?” I asked rhetorically. I knew she, nor me, had the answer to that question.
“I don’t know but the brotha is fine,” Skata said as she popped her gum and twisted her finger around her hair.
“Yes, he is,” I agreed.
“Wonder how long they been dating,” Skata said.
“I don’t know, but this nigga got a Range Rover. She dumb as hell to be creeping with my man when she got all that,” I said with my mind on being petty. “Let’s go see a movie.”
“Cool.” We got out the car and walked inside.
Luckily, Diamond was still standing in line deciding on a movie. Then I saw her point at the new movie The Conjuring on the digital board. So when I got to the front of the line, I ordered two tickets for the same movie. Then Skata ordered some snacks. She dumb as hell, them snacks too expensive.
“Hurry up,” I said as Skata trailed behind me slowly. She was too busy trying to slurp on her Slurpee.
“Okay, okay,” she said, walking faster.
When we reached the door that had the movie name on it, I crept in first and looked around. It was dark, so that was good. And the movie wasn’t that packed, so that was even better. I spotted them and saw an empty row of seats behind them. “Come on,” I whispered to Skata as we crept and sat directly behind them.
“Thanks for doing this, Gee,” Diamond said.
“No problem. I wanted to use this time to talk about us,” he responded. He now had his full attention on her. Skata’s nosey ass had her pop corn and was tuned in just like I was.
“What about?” Diamond asked.
“I’ve been thinking, we should get closer. You know? Anything you need just let me know. I’m here for you.”
“Why the sudden change of heart?” she asked him. I immediately started to get heated. This bitch had her cake and was eating it too.
“Just being around you. When people say how they don’t have any family, they’re usually lying, looking for handouts or some type of pity. But you, Diamond, have no one. Absolutely no one. And I want to be here for you.”
“As a friend, right?” she asked.
I could hear the disappointment in her voice. That’s what her ass gets.
“Yeah, as a friend. It’s better that way… believe me.” He put his left arm around her and looked forward at the movie.
“Thanks a lot for even caring.”
“Don’t thank me. My God knew what he was doing when he sent you to my place that day. He knew that we needed each other and I’m thankful for that. Even after the baby is born and the marriage is over, I will still be here for you.”
Baby? Marriage? What in the entire fuck? I was confused as fuck. She was pregnant? Ohhhh, I was getting it, he found out that she was pregnant by Davinchi and filed for a divorce on her stupid ass. Ha! That’s what the fuck she get!
Stupid bitch. He was feeling sorry for her, so he told her that he would still take care of her and be there for her because she didn’t have anyone. But the marriage was over. That’s what I was getting. I replayed what he said in my mind over and over. Not too many niggas would help with a kid that was conceived out of cheating. But on the other hand, I was on Davinchi’s ass for not telling me he had a baby on the way. Hmph.
Chapter Thirty-Five
Yazz
Two weeks later…
“Baby, hurry up. I’m ready to go,” I said as I trailed behind Red, holding her shopping bags. We were in Manhattan mall and had been here all damn day. Shit, I had somewhere to go.
“Just one more store,” she said, leaving me behind.
“I feel your pain,” an older white man said to me. He also was carrying bags for his woman. But he had way more bags than me. Red was way too indecisive. We spent two hours in Baby Gap and got absolutely nothing. But I had something for her ass.
“Let’s go,” I said, pulling her hand just when she thought she was about to walk into another store. Hell, she had already got what I came for; some Victoria Secret.
“Baaaaabbbyyy,” she moaned.
“I don’t want to hear none of that shit, let’s go and I ain’t saying it no more,” I said as she pouted and stuck her lips out. I didn’t give a fuck. This was ridiculous. “Next time, you’ll move a little faster and make your mind up,” I said.
“Yoooo, what’s up, bro?” I heard a voice say.
I looked behind me and saw that it was my brother Emo. He was with a different bitch every time I seen him…just like me. But lately, I had only been with Red. I think I was starting to fall for her in the midst of trying to get her to fall for me. Dumb shit.
“Emo, my boy, what’s up?” I asked as I hugged him. My dad had a brief affair with a tourist, and along came Emo. See, in the islands, the women are forgiving and never bitter. My mother never made my dad disown his son. In fact, Emo would visit us as a kid sometimes. He spoke our language fluently also, but no one would ever know. He was very private about his personal life to friends and what not.
“Ah, I can’t call it. Just shopping. Let me holla at you real quick,” he said. I told Red I would be right back as I walked over by a fountain to talk to him.
“Whats up?” I asked.
“We’re running out of bricks. I need some more, bro. Soon… shit been jumping ever since we expanded. Gee still don’t know?” he asked.
“Nah. He still thinks we’re on hold. He don’t even know I’ve expanded. He just thinks we’re still only in Brooklyn with it. And I want it to stay that way,” I said with a look of steel on my face.
Gee was the man with the mouthpiece so he knew people in Haiti who gave us cocaine at a cheap price. But he wouldn’t tell me who. He thinks I’m greedy, and for some reason he feels like that would be the fall of us. That was so far from true. I was just scared of being broke again like we were as kids.
When Gee decided that we had saved up enough money, he wanted to hold off on giving my brother and other niggas bricks until we became fully legalized here. He wanted no heat. But he didn’t know that I knew where he kept his bricks. It was so many that I just grabbed some off the top and he never noticed. Then I’d sell them to my little brother and his friends. But shit had been scarce lately because Gee was becoming suspicious. When Emo came to me asking if they could expand, I gave him the okay. And that call for more bricks.
“That’s cool, you know I know whats up. I got ya back, big bro,” Emo said.
“Yeah, I’ll hit you off with some bricks later. Just give me more time with Gee. He on some bullshit,” I said.
“Bet, bro. Just call me. The hood been loving that shit.”
“I got you,” I said as I walked back over to Red and we left.
After leaving the mall, I dropped her off at home and went to my condo. When I got there, Kasha was there as expected. She had just made it back from Paris, but she came to my place instead of Gee’s.
“I’m here,” she said as I walked in. I rolled my eyes and put my keys down on the kitchen table.
“Kasha, I hope you don’t think we’re cool now. I’m just confused and want to know whats up. You obviously need my help.” I didn’t get to talk to her last time. I paid for her a flight back to Paris, two weeks ago, just to find out that she didn’t live in Paris. The bitch lived in Memphis.
“If you would have let me stay last time, it would have been good. But you sent me way bac
k to Tennessee and sent for me a whole two weeks later. What was that about?” she asked.
“I was spending time with my woman,” I said.
She laughed. “Woman?”
I was very disappointed in Kasha. Long ago, we both got drunk and she let me have sex with her. But it was a secret that she kept only because she didn’t want Gee to leave her, and she also didn’t want Gee to know that she was married with a son. I kept that secret because she knew I was pocketing bricks off the top. So we made the decision to never speak on it again. Until now.
I knew she was a liar, but I didn’t know she was a dirty bitch like this. She had my brother thinking she was this big shot lawyer in Paris, when she was a drug dealer in Memphis.
“Yes, my woman,” I said as she followed me to my bedroom.
“And when did this happen?” she asked.
I didn’t want to tell her everything because I didn’t trust Kasha. So I told her just enough.
“About a month ago. So how did you fuck your money up?” I asked her.
“Well, I had to fire two of my head men and all of a sudden, six of my trap houses were hit. They took everything. I don’t even have enough money to re-up from my Mexican plug. So I was wishing that you could either give me some money or some bricks.”
I sat on the bed and ran my fingers through my locs. “Kasha, you’re killing me,” I said.
Gee would surely notice this sudden change in his stash. I had to get that Plug.
“Ahh, come on, baby,” she said as she dropped to her knees. I tried to push her away but she aggressively unbuckled my pants and pulled them down.
“Kasha, no,” I said.
“Shhhh, let me do it,” she said, pulling my dick out. I was mad that it was hard for her.
“Kasha….”
“Ummmm,” she moaned as she took me into her mouth.
I found myself leaning back and enjoying her lip service. It was just as great as it was before and I couldn’t help myself. This, for sure, is what kept my brother in love with this bitch.
“Oh, shit,” I whispered as sweat tricked from my forehead.
She sped up the pace and gargled on my balls while still massaging my dick. Then she spit on it and slurped it back up.
“Help me, baby,” she moaned.
“Don’t call me that,” I whispered as I erupted into her mouth.
Just like before, she didn’t spit my nut out, she swallowed it like it was the last thing she would swallow for the rest of her life. I laid back on both elbows as she mounted me like a horse for this horse dick.
“I’ve always loved how you and your brother can get right back hard,” she said, sliding a condom on my dick that she had pulled from her bra. She planned this shit.
“Shut up,” I said as she slid down on my dick and moaned. But I didn’t want it to feel good to her… I hated her.
“Ummm, baby,” she moaned as I flipped her on her back. I spread her legs far apart and pounded her insides.
“Don’t call me baby,” I grunted, ripping her shirt and bra off her body. I was pounding her so hard that her breasts were now flopping up, down and around. That’s how I wanted them to be.
“Yazz!” She began to yell my name over and over.
I flipped her over on her stomach and viscously slid my dick inside of her pussy. I knew it hurt her by the way she tried to run, but I put my large hands under her stomach and pulled her back. I let my other hand grab a hold to her hair and her tracks fell out. I thought that was her real hair. This bitch just lied about every fucking thing. I threw track to the floor and flipped her back on her back. Slipping my dick in her again, I placed my hands around her neck and choked her.
“Bitch!” I yelled at her.
“No, stop!” she began to gag.
It was feeling too good. “Why?!”
“Yazz!” The look of distress on her face made me cum.
“Ahhhhh,” I grunted as I released myself into the condom. Plopping down on the side of her, I pushed her leg off of me. That was well needed.
I got up to throw the condom away and rinse my dick off. When I got back to the bed, she was still lying there with her eyes wide open.
“Kasha?” I walked over to her and shook her.
I slapped her face. Then I raised her up and checked her pulse.
I had killed her.
Chapter Thirty-Six
Davinchi
“Why you lying?” Pat asked me. It was too early in the morning for this bullshit.
“You keep asking the same shit over and over. I keep telling you, I don’t have a baby on the way,” I said.
I started to shower but quickly decided against it when she started bitching. So I grabbed my toothbrush and a fresh pair of drawers. I could shower at Skyla’s place.
“Don’t walk away from me!” she yelled, yanking me back and ripping my damn shirt.
I dropped my shit and gave her three punches in the face. She fell back on the bed and I yanked her by the shirt and threw her against the wall.
“Bitch!” I yelled as I sent hit after hit to her face until I saw that she was now bleeding from the mouth. I had to catch myself before I killed her. I had been letting her make it for the last month but she was irking the fuck outta me. I couldn’t take it no more.
“Davinchi!” She cried as I grabbed my shit and stormed out.
She had me fucked up. I would go back to live with my mama and put up with her shit before I put up with this.
“Ay, nephew-”
“Not today, school,” I said to a junkie as I walked to the front, only to find my car being towed. I checked my waist and noticed that I left my strap. “Shit!” I yelled as I ran to the truck as it was pulling off.
He turned and saw me running to the truck so he hurried to lock the doors. “Pay your car note on time next time!” He yelled before driving off with my shit.
“I just need a day!” I yelled, but he was gone. “Fuck!” I yelled standing in the middle of the street.
Cars were blowing at me. I turned around to tell them to fuck off when I saw that a taxi. I excitedly hopped in and gave him the directions to Skyla’s condo. I just had to get the fuck away from there.
Skyla and I had been kicking it and I was really starting to like her. She played her cards right, and I would live with her next. After all, she was the one asking about me before I even knew who she was.
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Diamond
The next day…
Gee and I were overly excited because we had just left our session. Lacey said that she saw the improvement that we both had made and to keep it up.
“You hungry?” he asked as we drove off.
“Nah, we have food at home,” I said. It was habitual for me to save money and only eat what was at the house.
“But you haven’t eaten anything all day.”
“I know. I’m fine.”
“Okay, ready to go to the doctor?” he asked.
“Yep.”
He informed me yesterday that we would go to the doctor today and get me tested for any STDs before I gave birth to our baby. He also wanted to make sure I wasn’t already pregnant.
“I’m getting a check up while I’m at it. I’m approaching my sixth month.”
“Good,” was all I said as we maneuvered around cars.
“You look beautiful today,” Gee said, looking over at me.
I thought he’d never notice that I took my braids out and added long and curly extensions to my hair. I didn’t wear any make up today.
“Thank you. Thought I looked a mess without my makeup,” I said.
“Nah, I like it. Just like that. You’re gorgeous.”
“Wow, thanks, Gee.”
“So, do you have a boyfriend yet?” he asked.
“Nah.”
“Why not? It seems like men would be all over you.”
“I have to start going out more,” I said as I looked out the window at two men fighting on the sidewalk.

For the next few hours, we were in a lab and getting tested. We had to wait a few days for the STD results, but my pregnancy test came back negative, like I knew it would.
After leaving the lab, we went to get Rena from Red and took her to Central Park. “I guess I need to enjoy it just being Rena for now because I’m about to be raising two kids,” I said as we sat on the bench and watched her play with rocks and sticks. She was so beautiful and growing so fast. I just wanted her to stop growing for a year.
“I’ve already told you that you’re not alone. I consider you a friend and I wouldn’t leave you out to dry like that. I’m not just going to come around on birthdays and holidays, I’m going to be there until I’m not alive anymore. Speaking of birthdays, don’t you have one coming up?” he asked, taking a bite of his apple.
“Yeah, but I don’t want to celebrate it this year.” I planned on not even mentioning my birthday. What good would those things do me now?
Chapter Thirty-Eight
Patricia
“Look at them, all at the park and shit,” I said to Skata as we sat far back and watched them with binoculars.
“They sure do spend a lot of time together for two people that are supposed to be getting a divorce,” Skata said, eating her Frank.
I didn’t respond, I just watched them and became envious of the whole situation. She had my man chasing behind herm and had this caring man at home. I had been watching them ever since she left Starbucks that day, and it was safe to say that I had lost out on a lot of money doing so.
“This the last day I’m coming with you to do this. Hustlas can’t make money watching other people all day,” Skata said. I didn’t respond. “You hear me, Pat?” she asked.
“Yeah.”
“I’m starting to feel like you’re obsessed with the bitch. We’ve been watching her every move and she ain’t seen Davinchi not one time.”
“And?” I asked, still looking out the frames.
“And… why in the entire fuck are we still watching her? Let this woman live.”
