The Price of Loving A Boss

“Because she’s pregnant by my man.”
“And how do you know that, Pat? You only heard half of their conversation that night.”
“Because he told her that even after the marriage was done, he would be there for her and the baby. So he found out she was pregnant by my man and filed for divorce but he’s still going to help.”
She laughed. “And how are you so sure that it’s his baby? How do you know she’s not pregnant by him,” she said, pointing down at Diamond and her man.
“You’re right. That’s why I need to do more research,” I said as I noticed Diamond and him about to leave.
“You trippin’,” Skata said, shaking her head and looking at her phone.
“Call it what you want.”
Chapter Thirty-Nine
Yazz
“Damn, and that’s that?” I asked Gee. It was late as hell and we were up in his kitchen cooking and talking. He had just told me how Kasha sent him a text breaking up with him. And then left a voicemail.
“Yeah, I called to see if she was sure that’s what she wanted to do, but got no answer,” he said, draining the water out of the potatoes.
“Maybe it was the best thing to happen,” I said as I lit a blunt. I tried to pass it to him but he refused.
After accidentally killing Kasha, I had to think fast. I knew Gee would be looking for her call because they talked every day. So, I sent a text from her phone to his phone to make it seem like she had broken up with him. Then I called one of my hood rat bitches to leave a voicemail, because she talked just like Kasha. The body was in the garage where Gee held all his bricks. He hadn’t been there in forever, so I still had time to move the body.
“It’s all good. She’ll come back… like always.”
“Brother, I need a favor.”
“Speak.”
“Look, I know money is saved for you, but I don’t have much saved. I need those cocaine bricks,” I said. I was tired of taking two here and three there, I needed more.
“You decided to ask now?” he asked.
I raised my brow. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked.
“You can’t think I’m that stupid. You just can’t.”
“Why would you say that though?” I asked. Though he acted like he knew something, I wasn’t about to tell on myself just yet. Gee played them type of mind games.
He smiled in amusement. “You really think I don’t know you’ve been dipping in my stash? You have to get better at lying, my brother. But don’t worry, I’m not mad. It was selfish of me to think that just because I was out, you would want to be out also.”
“So what does this mean?” I asked.
“It means that I’m fine with you doing what you do. If I wasn’t, I would have killed you many nights ago. Just be careful. Remember, we’re under a radar right about now. Move how you’ve been moving. Act like I don’t even know, so you can be discreet with it. Don’t take so many at one time. You know? But by all means, do what you feel. And make sure Emo never tells his crew where he gets his drugs from. I don’t trust them young dudes,” he said as he stirred his sauce.
“Thanks, brother,” was all I could say.
I was fine with all those bricks in the garage, but I still wanted to know where he got them from. And now that I knew that he does indeed be at the garage, I needed to get out of there fast and get Kasha’s body.
A knock at the door saved us from the awkward silence. I rushed to open it. “Hey, girl,” I said to Diamond as she walked in with Rena asleep on her shoulder. So that’s why he was cooking… for Diamond.
“How are you?” she asked with a smile as she walked in and set Rena’s bag down.
“Just leaving,” I said, grabbing my keys.
“Call me later,” Gee said.
“Cool.” I shut the door and called Emo.
“Yo?” he answered.
“I need you,” I said as I waited for the elevator to come.
“You good?”
“Fuck, no. Where you at?” I asked
“On the block.”
“Remember what we did the other night?” I asked. Emo was the one that helped me dump the body.
“Yeah.”
“I need to move it again.”
I needed help because we wrapped her body in hundreds of pounds of plastic, carpet and tape. This was to take away the horrible smell but this also made shit extremely heavy.
“Come scoop me,” is all he said before we hung up.
I got on the elevator and let it take me down to the parking garage. My palms were sweaty. I had to get that body out of there.
Gee would never forgive me if he knew what I had done.
Chapter Forty
Diamond
“You really didn’t have to do this,” I said to Gee as he washed the dishes. Since he knew my birthday was coming up, he cooked for me and told me that he had another surprise for me. He didn’t wait until my birthday came because he said he would be busy.
“It’s fine.”
“So what’s the surprise?” I asked.
“Is Rena sleeping?” he asked.
“Yes, in the guest bedroom upstairs.”
“That’s too bad, I wanted her to see this too.”
“See what?” I asked.
“Come on.” He lead me to the balcony.
“What?” I asked when we got outside. I didn’t see anything.
“Wait… okay, now look up,” he said as he stood back.
“Oh my, G…” I couldn’t even finish my sentence. I choked up. The surprise was fireworks going up and lighting up the sky. When the fireworks finally exploded at the top, it said: Happy Birthday Diamond.
“Why are you crying? Did I do something wrong?” he asked.
I shook my head no. “No one has ever done anything like this for me before,” I said, wiping the tears away.
That small little gesture made a big difference to me. This man who I had known a short amount of time had done for me what no one had done ever in life, not even my mother. Seeing my name in the sky like that made me feel like I was actually somebody in this world. I didn’t feel invisible anymore.
“Get used to it, lil’ mama. Ain’t that how y’all say it?” he asked as we shared a laugh. He took me into his arms, and for that moment, everything seemed right in this world.
“Kiss me, Gee,” I said, looking up at him. I was still wrapped tight in his arms. He looked at me like he really cared.
Surprisingly, he sat on a chair and pulled me into his lap. Before kissing me, he searched my eyes for something. I don’t know what he was looking for, but it seemed like he found it when he pulled into him and kissed me. A kiss like the one he gave me was passionate enough to end a war. It was that strong. I felt the vibration go right through me. I could tell he felt it too by the way he grabbed me tighter. Then he stopped and looked at me again. I was now crying.
“What are you looking for?” I asked with tears in my eyes.
“We can’t do this,” he said, wiping tears away from my eyes.
“Am I not good enough?”
“It’s not that, Diamond. If I do this to you right now, it would make me a bad person.”
“What? Why?” I asked, trying to kiss him again, but he pulled away.
“You’re vulnerable right now. I didn’t do any of this to get you in my bed. I did it because I care and because you’re a good person. A blind man could see that.” He gently lifted me out of his lap and stood up.
I sat down and cried into my hands. I had made a complete fool of myself and it was embarrassing. My emotions were on a vicious rollercoaster, showing no mercy as they drove me insane.
“What happens now?” I asked.
He pulled up and took me into his arms again. “Now… we have to make sure that we never do that again. Let’s savor our friendship. It will be great.”
That’s not what I wanted to hear. I cried even harder as my head began to hurt from so much crying. “What’s so wrong
with me that you don’t want to make love to me?” I asked.
He waited before answering. Finally he stood back and watched me. “Because I care for you, Diamond. I don’t love you. You don’t love me either. It’s not possible.”
“You’re right,” I said. I wasn’t in love. I was horny. And now I had to get out of there to get to my toy.
“Where are you going?” he asked as I rushed into the penthouse and ran upstairs to get Rena. I prayed to God that a taxi would be driving by.
“I have to go,” I said when I finally got back to the center and went out the front door with Rena on my shoulder.
“Let me drive you,” he said.
“It’s fine,” I said. Then I ran to the elevator.
I looked up and saw him calmly walking to the elevator. Then he waited with me. When we got to the garage, he told me to get in and he wasn’t taking no for an answer. I finally got in but I sat in the back with Rena, acting like a damn child. He smiled and drove me home. I didn’t stay far, so it didn’t take long.
“Thank you,” I said as I got out and rushed inside.
I put Rena on the couch since she was sleeping and ran to my room and locked the door. Then I reached under my bed and pulled my toy out. Didn’t even make it to the bed.
I pleasured myself right there on the floor with Gee on my mind.
Chapter Forty-One
Davinchi
“I’ght, I’ma catch up with you niggas later,” Emo said as he dapped us all up and hopped in an Infiniti that had just pulled up.
We were all excited because we had just got word that more bricks would be coming our way. This was good for me because I could finally get my own place and get my car back.
“You ready?” Skyla asked me as she came out of the smoothie spot.
“Yeah, let me drive,” I said.
She tossed me her keys and we got in.
“Where we going?” she asked.
“I need to stop by my mama house real quick.”
“Cool.”
“Can I ask you something?” I asked as I stopped the car at a stop sign.
“Yeah. What?”
“What made you wanna fuck with me?” I asked.
She laughed. “I just like your style. That’s it.”
“Word? What you like about it?” I asked.
“Like, you’re just cool, getting money and fine as hell. I had to get ya,” she said.
I laughed. Just like I thought, gold digging ass. But I wanted to see how far we could go with this. I still hadn’t had sex with her because I was tryna act like that’s not all I wanted. But I was letting her suck the life outta my dick like every day.
“I need to borrow some money,” I said.
“How much?” she asked and didn’t even catch an attitude.
“Shit, like one thousand dollars. I need to get my car out the pound, and I just used my last to re-up,” I said as I turned in front of my mother’s house.
“I got you. When?” she asked.
“Shit, in the morning.”
“Cool.
That’s why I fucks with you,” I said as I turned the car off. I looked up and saw my brother walking toward the car.
“Davinchi, give me some money,” he said through the window.
“I’m broke.” I got out the car and went into the house to see if my money was still there. I was going to put that with Skyla’s money and pay my car note up for a few months so I wouldn’t have to worry about that shit. But imagine how surprised I was when my money was gone. I flashed out.
“Yo, where the fuck my money at?” I asked, opening and slamming every cabinet and drawer in that mothafucka. I went to my mother’s room and saw that she had some brand new hand bags. Then I went to Marvo’s room and saw that he had a box of clothes. Now I was furious.
“Boy, shut all that noise up!” my mother yelled, walking out the bathroom.
“Where’s my shit?!”
“Nigga, fuck you! I spent it. You a big balla, ain’t you? That shit ain’t hurting you,” she said as she blew smoke in my face and walked to her room.
“It don’t fucking matter! Don’t be touching my shit!” I yelled, storming into her room behind her.
“Don’t talk to my mama like that!” Marvo yelled.
I turned around and slapped his bitch ass like the hoe he was. “Mind ya business, faggot ass, nigga!”
He grabbed his face, looked at me and charged at me. Then my mother charged at me too. Next thing I knew, I was getting jumped. I never wanted to hit my mother, but I had no choice, she hit me first. When she flew back into the wall, I turned around and started fighting Marvo. But it was never easy fighting him. The gay niggas had some horse power. We were fighting hard then a bitch.
Somehow, we ended up in the living room… just brawling until I picked up a vase and smashed it across his head. He fell back and threw his shit over his bloody face to stop it from gushing. I had blood over me too, feeling like a monster.
“Gay ass, fuck nigga,” I said as I stormed out the door.
When I got in the car, Marvo ran to the front door yelling at me. “It’s funny you call me a faggot and you riding around with Skyla!” Then he slammed the door.
“What the fuck is he talking about?” I asked Skyla.
She was silent.
Chapter Forty-Two
Yazz
“Come on, nigga. This shit heavy as fuck,” Emo complained as I struggled to find the button to pop my trunk. Finally, it opened.
“Uggghhh,” we said in unison as we lifted the body into the trunk. We were both out of breath and sweaty as I closed the trunk back.
“Where we taking it?” he asked.
“Man, I don’t even know. I’m just going to have to figure that out another day. I can’t even risk searching for a secluded place right now,” I said as I started the ignition and drove off.
“So you just ’bout to ride around with a dead body in the trunk? Who is it anyway?” he asked.
“Don’t even worry about that. Just keep your mouth closed like you been doing. Understand?” he asked.
“Cool. Man, my niggas amped ’bout you okaying us to expand and having more bricks. We been hurting on the block without it.”
“About that… have you told anyone about where you get your drugs from?” I asked as I headed back to drop him off.
“Word to Allah,” he put his hands to the sky, “I ain’t said shit. As far as them niggas know, I’m the plug. Ain’t even they business. Feel me?” he asked.
“I feel you.”
“Can I smoke in here?” he asked.
“Go ahead,” I nodded as I reclined my seat and drove with one hand. It had been a long week.
I was about to turn on Emo’s block when suddenly, my car swerved out of control and hit a cop car that was parked on the side of the road. “You have got to be fucking kidding me!” I yelled as I hit the steering wheel over and over.
“Drive off, I don’t think nobody in it,” Emo said.
“I can’t… look,” I said as I pointed at the ground. Pieces of my tire was everywhere and my rim had rolled away.
“Excuse me sir,” someone said. Then a bright light was flashed on my face.
“I’m strapped, B. And I got pills and shit on me. He make the wrong move and we gonna have to kill him,” Emo said as he looked straight ahead.
I rolled my window down. “Yes, officer?” I was aggravated and wasn’t hiding it.
“Do you know that you hit my car?”
“No shit,” Emo said under his breath. The officer must’ve heard him because he flashed his light on him.
“Yes, but I have insurance,” I said.
“That wouldn’t have happened if you weren’t going so fast. I saw you speeding down the street.
I didn’t respond to that. I just searched for my insurance card. “Here it is,” I said.
He didn’t take it. “We can get to that later. Pop the trunk so we can get this tire on,” he said as he wa
lked to the back of the car.
“Don’t pop that trunk, B,” Emo said.
“Fuck. Let me see that strap,” I said to Emo.
“Here.”
“It got a silencer?” I asked.
“Yeah, hold on,” he said.
Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!
“What the fuck?” I yelled. Emo and I ducked. I looked in the rearview and saw the officer duck also. Then I heard his radio go off.
“Sir, we have reported gunshots heard on near 648 Park Ave,” the dispatcher said.
“10-4!” He yelled as he hopped in his car and burnt rubber. As he drove off, I noticed that I didn’t hit his car as hard as it sounded because it left nothing but a scratch.
“Fuck! I gotta go!” Emo yelled, grabbing his gun from me and hopping out.
“What? What’s going on?” I asked.
“That’s where my spot is. All my niggas over there right now!” He yelled before taking off running down the street.
“Shit!” I yelled.
Then I got out and popped the trunk after I made sure no one was watching. Struggling to push the body to the back of the trunk, I finally grabbed the spare tire that was under it.
After putting the tire on, I got the hell out of there.
Chapter Forty-Three
Diamond
After pleasing myself, I laid in my bed with my mind heavy on Gee. How could he have this much of an effect on me? Was I just vulnerable and he was the only one there? Was I falling for him? Did I really want to be with him, or did I want the money?
After being satisfied with getting absolutely nowhere with my thoughts, I stood up to open my door so I could hear Rena if she cried or woke up. I would bring her in here eventually, but I needed to think. Suddenly, there was beating at the door. If Rena could hear, it woulda woke her up.
“I got it, it’s Yazz,” Red said.
Then I heard the door open.
“Get dressed.” I heard Yazz say.
“What? Why? What’s wrong?”
“Just fucking get dressed! I need you,” he said.
