I lowered my gun and put it away. I was afraid that they would take that chance and tackle me, but they didn’t. The two of them cared about me and no longer wanted me to work for Bellerose, but they also knew that they wouldn’t be able to stop me from finishing this.
“Get out,” Bobby said calmly, “and don’t come back here.”
I looked up at him, then nodded and walked to the door.
“Hey, Rose,” Bobby called.
I stopped in the doorway and waited for what he was going to say next.
“Don’t come back until you have some information. You better fucking finish this. That’s an order.”
If I wasn’t so shaken by what had just happened, I would have smiled and come up with a comeback, but instead I just walked out and let the door close behind me. So much for figuring out a plan.

When I got back to the mansion, it was completely quiet. I assumed that everyone was asleep since most of the lights were off, so I just went upstairs.
When I checked in on Alex I saw that he was in his bed sleeping and shut his door, then I walked towards my room, where I noticed a dark figure in my bed. It wasn’t big enough to be Bruce, so I knew that it had to be Lorena. I could tell that curvy body of hers anywhere.
I sighed, finally feeling relaxed, and closed my door, then I went to sit down on my bed. Lorena shifted and turned so that I could see her face in the moonlight.
“Where did you go?” Lorena asked in a raspy voice.
“I had to go meet Bobby,” I whispered. “I needed some help from him, but it looks like I’m on my own now.”
Lorena reached over and grabbed my hand. “No you’re not. You have me. I can help you now,” she said.
“No,” I shook my head, “You and Bruce need to stay far away from each other. I don’t want him anywhere near you.”
“That’s sounds a little difficult since we’re both staying in the same house together,” She giggled.
“This is a big ass house though,” I laid down next to her in the small bed. “All that money and Roberto couldn’t upgrade his guest beds to full size?”
“I guess not.” Lorena rested on her side and faced me. “It’s okay though, I like being close to you.”
I gave a slight smile, “So you like to invade my personal space?”
“Yeah, I wish I could do it all the time.”
“I do too.”
We were both quiet for a moment, then Abigale holding her gun against my head came back to mind. I couldn’t help but feel betrayed.
“What’s wrong?” Lorena asked. She brought her hand to my face and caressed my cheek.
“Abigale. There was a situation, and she pointed her gun at me,” It hurt worse to say than to endure.
Lorena sighed, “She wasn’t going to shoot you.”
Thinking back to the look in Abigale’s eye. I really couldn’t tell if she was going to or not.
“I really don’t know Lorena...”
Lorena moved in and kissed me, “She wouldn’t.” She kissed me again, but more intimately. Her tongue slipped into my mouth and I could taste sweet wine.
When I rested my hand on her wrist, she quickly snatched her hand away. We both stopped kissing and just stared at each other in the dark.
“Are you okay?” I asked.
“Yeah, yeah I’m fine,” Lorena whispered. “I’m just tired, and a little jumpy.”
“Okay,” I sighed, “then let’s get some sleep.” I kissed her on her cheek, then rested my head onto the soft pillow. “Good night.”
“Good night.”
Chapter 32
When I woke up the next morning, I felt Lorena’s warm breath on my face. It was a good feeling to wake up to after what had happened yesterday.
Once again, she looked peaceful in her sleep. I don’t think I would ever get over how beautiful she looked when she was like this.
Lorena shifted more onto her side, but there wasn’t much room to move since we were on a twin sized bed. I smiled, and was about to start laughing when her forehead hit me in the nose.
“Ah!” I grabbed my nose and sat up on my elbow. It actually felt like she punched me.
Lorena jolted awake and looked up at me, “What’s wrong? You okay?”
I just held my nose and tried to keep my smile from creeping onto my lips, “Your head is hard as hell.”
Lorena smiled and went to move her hair out of her face, “What are you talking about?”
“You didn’t just feel tha-” I stopped when I noticed the color of Lorena’s wrist. It was a darker purple than the bruises Roberto left on her. My mouth dropped, and I grabbed her arm before she put her hand down.
“What happened?” I said breathlessly. I could feel all the emotions from yesterday flooding back in.
“N-nothing. Rose, don’t worry about it.”
“Did he…”
“No,” Lorena sat up. “No, he was just drunk and he knew that you went out-”
I jumped out of the bed, grabbed my gun off of the dresser, and rushed out of the room.
“Rose!” Lorena yelled behind me, but she couldn’t catch up. I was already down the stairs and was ready to kill Bruce. I had had enough.
“Go upstairs Lorena!” I yelled back. I picked up my pace and rushed to Roberto’s office where I knew Bruce would be.
When I finally made it to the office, Bruce looked up at me in surprise, “Sarah-”
I rushed in and around the desk before he could react, then slammed my gun against his head.
“You stupid Bitch!” I yelled.
Bruce grunted and lunged at me, but I was faster than him, and I stepped to the side. I then grabbed his arm, twisted it behind his back, and used his momentum to slam him against the wall. Bruce was a lot stronger than me and could easily push away, but he stopped when I cocked my gun and pressed it against the back of his head.
“I should fucking kill you,” I said through my teeth.
“Sarah,” I heard Lorena call me from the door, but I didn’t look at her.
Bruce laughed with his face pressed against the wall, “You’re not going to shoot me.”
I slammed the gun against his head again. “Do you want to make that a bet? I could just tell Roberto that you tried to rape Lorena, and I stopped you. Put two bullets in your back.”
I could tell Bruce’s smile was fading.
“It would be very believable,” I said sarcastically. “I mean, you didn’t get to the first time, right? Who’s to say you didn’t try again? You’re an impulsive man with a short temper, and you wanted her. Lorena even has the bruises to prove it.”
Bruce’s nose flared, “Shoot me then. You have it all planned out! Do it!”
“Sarah, don’t!” Lorena pleaded. “Do not shoot him.”
“But isn’t this what you want?” I asked feeling confused.
Lorena’s eyes welled with tears. “No,” she said as she shook her head, “I don’t want to see anyone die, and I don’t want you to kill anyone.”
“You heard the bitch. Put the fucking gun down,” Bruce spat.
I looked to Lorena, then back to Bruce. This was one of the people that I wanted to kill. I had my gun pointed at Bobby yesterday, when it should have been Bruce this whole time.
“Sarah,” Lorena rested her hand on my shoulder, “Please.” Her hand was shaking.
I sighed and prepared to put my gun away. Bruce laughed again, “That’s a good dog.”
I gripped the handle of the gun and slammed it against his right kidney three times before letting him go.
Bruce grabbed at his side and fell to the floor in pain. I just tucked my gun away. “You know, you’re the one that shouldn’t push me. Next time I’ll shoot you,” I said.
Bruce didn’t say anything. He just grunted on the floor.
I grabbed Lorena’s upper arm and backed up out of the office, then I took her back upstairs where I assumed that it would be safe. When we got back into my room, I waited for L
orena to close the door before I turned around-
Slap!
My ears rang and my eyes bulged as I took the time to process what had just happened. It took a moment, but the sting from Lorena’s hand rushed in and my cheek burned. I didn’t know how I was supposed to react to her slapping me, and I wasn’t sure what I had done wrong.
I stared into Lorena’s wet blue eyes and tried to read them. I didn’t understand why she had hit me the way that she did, and instead of getting angry I felt like breaking down and crying. No tears came to my eyes, but I’m sure the confused look on my face gave away how I felt.
I could tell that Lorena immediately regretted hitting me and she rushed in for a hug. She wrapped her arms around me and pushed her head into my shoulder. “Don’t. Scare me like that. I don’t like seeing you that way. I know that you love me, but I don’t want to see anyone die. Especially not by your hands,” she whispered.
My eyebrows drew together as I thought about what she had said. I was going to kill Bruce and Roberto, and no one was going to stop me. Those two men didn’t deserve to live.
“I’ll make sure you won’t see it then,” I whispered back.
***
A few days went by and we did our best to avoid Bruce. I saw him a few times around the house, but we never spoke to each other. Sometimes he would grin as he walked by, or nod in my direction, but there were never any words between us. I wanted to think that he had finally accepted that I was the Alpha and he was Beta, but I knew that wasn’t it.
Alex’s training had stopped after I attacked Bruce, and he worked out with me instead. I didn’t like Lorena in the house alone, so I made her come out and train with us. While we were doing that, I’ve been watching and hoping for Bruce to go somewhere. I needed him to move…I needed him to get out of the office.
So far, Bobby had cut me off, but that was only temporary. All I had to do was get some sort of information about the missing children, and then I would be back into his good graces. I could possibly even mend mine and Abigale’s relationship back together. There was no way I could return home and not have her as my best friend anymore. I still loved her and prayed that I could make things right.
Lorena had finally convinced me to let her help me get into the office. I spoke with Marie yesterday and she agreed to be a look out for me. We spoke about my real name, and before I could explain everything to her, she said that she already knew I was up to something. She just didn’t know what. Whether it was for something good or bad, Marie agreed to help me do anything that was against Roberto. She may have worked for him, but she hated the man. The only reason that she didn’t quit was because Roberto doesn’t let his workers quit. He kills them.
It was getting close to the time that Roberto returned, and I was starting to feel pressured. I needed to get into that office before he got back, or else life would go back to being a lot harder for me. I tried waiting until Bruce went to sleep, but every time I came down he would be up and about. I was starting to believe that he never slept, and if he did, he apparently got up early as hell.
It was eight in the morning when I heard a faint knock at the door. Lorena doesn’t knock so I assumed that it was Marie. But what would she need with me this early in the morning?
“Marie?” The light flicked on and I squinted my eyes as I got up on my elbows. When I looked to see who was in the doorway I went straight into alert mode. It wasn’t Marie at the door. It was Bruce.
“Good morning!” Bruce said with a smile on his face.
My eyes widened and I looked him up and down to make sure that I didn’t see a weapon, then I looked around for my gun. Fuck! I left it on the dresser across the room.
Bruce looked from me, to the gun, and then chuckled, “Don’t worry. I’m not going to hurt you. Not yet, at least. I came here to tell you that I have to make a business run for Roberto, so I won’t be around if anything happens today.”
“What do you mean if anything happens?”
Bruce sighed, “I won’t be back until tomorrow morning so if you need me, I won’t be here.”
“That’s fine. I won’t need you,” I said as calmly as I could.
Bruce shrugged, “Just thought I’d let you know, partner.” He turned around and walked away. I almost called him back to turn off the damn light, but instead I just got up and did it myself.
***
A few hours later I crawled out of bed, checked on Alex, and then made my way to Lorena’s room. Once I got into the bed with her, she rolled over and rested her head on my chest.
I smiled and kissed the top of her head, then I closed my eyes and slept in the rest of the morning. This was the first time that she and I had the house to ourselves, besides Alex and Marie, and I was going to really enjoy myself. We were going to enjoy ourselves.
I woke up for the third time and thought about Bruce’s visit to my room this morning. It had finally dawned on me that the office was free and I could get in.
I jumped up to my elbows, and Lorena lifted her head and moved her hair out of her face.
“Sorry,” I said as I scooted out of the bed.
“What is it? Where are you going?” Lorena asked while still trying to wake herself up. She wasn’t much of an early bird.
“Bruce is gone,” I said as I ran to the door.
I could hear the covers being tossed around behind me as I exited the room. Lorena had caught on to what I said and was almost as excited as I was.
“So, what are you going to look for? Do you know what you have to look for?” Lorena asked as she tried to keep up with me.
We turned to walk down the stairs.
“No. Yes. Names? An address. Something. Anything,” I answered as we walked down the long set of stairs. “I’m praying that there’s something there, or we’ll be shit out of luck. There was no plan B after this.”
“Well, there has to be something,” Lorena said as we walked through the house. We had finally made it to the office doorway and waited for one another to enter.
We both just stared at each other. It didn’t look like she was going to budge, so I took the initiative and stepped inside. For some reason I felt like some sort of high security alarms would go off even though I had walked in here many times before. Still. You could never be more careful.
Lorena walked in behind me, and once we were both in we rushed over to the desk.
I plopped down in the desk chair and Lorena stood next to me as she watched the computer screen flash on. Bruce must have forgotten to shut it down because it didn’t do any loading. Now we were staring at a password screen and I had no idea what the password was.
“Lorena,” Lorena said confidently.
“You think so?” I asked.
Lorena sighed, “Positive. He’s very possessive and a little obsessive.”
“Who you telling?” I typed in Lorena’s name and almost jumped out of my seat when it went through. I was glad that Lorena was here to help me.
The desktop screen popped up with a very naked Lorena as the background. She was sleeping in another room and still had the red dye in her hair that she wore in high school. I couldn’t help but think that she looked beautiful. She looked amazing when she was sleeping, but it was sickening to know that Bruce was here, staring at this picture every day.
I looked up at Lorena and saw how pale she had become. She was thinking the same thing as me. Bruce was a sick man. It probably wasn’t even the picture that was originally set up on the desktop. Bruce most likely took it from a folder in Roberto’s documents.
“I’m okay,” Lorena sighed.
I nodded, “Good.”
We continued to scan the desktop for any folders or shortcuts that Roberto might have left out for easy access. When we didn’t find any we started searching through his documents where we found nothing but folders with information about his strip clubs and bars.
After about thirty minutes of searching, I leaned back in the chair and covered my face with my hands.
/> “We aren’t going to find it,” I grunted.
“Rose, it has to be on this computer somewhere,” Lorena said.
I let my hands slide off of my face, “We’ve looked through everything! There’s nothing here.”
“No, we may not have been looking in the right place.”
“So where should we look? He could have computer files upon computer files with documents saved deep within all of those files.”
“But it’s there,” Lorena said with a slight smile. “Call…whoever you’re working with. He may know what exactly to look for.”
“What? I can’t call him. I pointed my gun at him. He hates me. He’s probably back in Ohio dropping Abigale off, and just left me here.”
Lorena laughed, “He did not leave you here. Now call him.”
“I can’t call him on my phone. I don’t want to risk Roberto finding out about me. I already took that risk once.”
“Mrs. Bellerose?” Alex called from the office doorway.
Lorena’s eyes widened for a second, and then she looked down at me. We had been caught and had no idea what to tell Alex.
“Hey Alex,” Lorena said with a nervous smile. “Everything alright?”
“Yes,” Alex nodded. He looked from me, to her, and then back to me. “I just wanted to know if I could go swimming.”
“Oh, umm sure. Of course,” Lorena nodded.
“Thanks,” Alex gave a devilish grin before he walked away, and I couldn’t help but laugh. He knew that we were up to no good, and that he scared the shit out of both of us.
Lorena took a deep shaky breath, and then she pulled out her cell phone and sat it down on the desk.
“Call him.”.
Chapter 33
I waited three agonizing phone rings before someone picked up the phone. Guilt rushed over me when I heard Abigale’s voice on the other line. Bobby must’ve known that it was me calling and handed her the phone. The guilt went away after I thought of how I could have been calling for help and he just handed me over. I guess I really screwed things up if he didn’t care about my well-being.
“What is it?” Abigale asked.
“I’m in Roberto’s office. I need information, because I can’t find anything over here.”
