“Well I’m just going to let my mom keep her tomorrow”.

“A’ight, if you need anything just hit my line,” he said and ended the call. Zylen was missing Heaven like something serious and wished they could get back to the way they used to be in the beginning. But he wasn’t going to chase her if that’s what she thought.

Heaven just looked at the phone and shook her head as a single tear rolled down her left cheek. Something was going to have to give. The more she saw Zylen or talked to him the more she yearned for him. She missed him in the worst way but since he acted like it was so hard for him to stay away from that bitch Tamar, Heaven decided to fall all the way back and let them be together since it seemed that’s what they wanted.

The next morning Heaven woke up early. After she was dressed, she kissed Hydeia and was out the door heading to school. She was just thankful she only had one class that day. Once that class was over Heaven headed to La-La’s house.

“So what’s up? Is everything okay with my god-baby?” Heaven asked as she and La-La walked to the car. Heaven sat in the waiting room while La-La went to the back to be checked.

“Bitch, I’m pregnant with twins,” La-La said angrily.

“What? I knew it was something. Your ass is too damn big for it to only be one baby in there,” said Heaven as she rubbed La-La’s four-month belly.

La-La was the size of Heaven when she was six months. Heaven thought it was because La-La had always been a little thicker than her so she never paid it any mind.

“Ugh…I didn’t sign up for this shit,” stated La-La.

The ride to La-La’s house was quiet as she sat in the passenger seat with her arms folded while pouting. Heaven just shook her head and laughed. Better La-La than her!

“You hungry, sis?” Heaven asked. La-La said she was and they headed to Wendy’s since that’s what she was craving at the moment.

“Shit, they packed as hell. I hate when the drive-thru is packed but no one’s inside,” Heaven complained as she parked the car. “What you want, La?” La-La told her what she wanted and Heaven was on her way inside.

Inside Heaven kept having the strangest feeling that she should go out and check on La-La. While waiting for her food she walked to the door and saw La-La head bobbing up and down like she was listening to music. Heaven smiled and went back over to the counter. It was a hold on La-La’s spicy chicken nuggets.

“How much longer do I have to wait for them nuggets? I’ve been waiting for almost ten minutes now,” Heaven asked one of the cashiers.

“I’m sorry, ma’am. They’re coming up right now,” she told her. Heaven just rolled her eyes.

If La-La’s ass wasn’t pregnant and craving Heaven would have been got her money back and went somewhere else. Once Heaven got to her car she hopped in and started going off.

“Girl, I almost walked out of there. I’ve been waiting for your damn chicken nuggets all this damn time. I started to curse all those fuckers out but I didn’t want them spitting in our shit,” she laughed, finally looking over at La-La who was laid back in her seat.

“La-La?” Heaven shook her and she fell over. That’s when Heaven noticed her black T-shirt was soaking in wet. Pulling the shirt up to find blood leaking from La-La’s stomach, Heaven screamed at the top of her lungs. “La-La, please get up…please, La…oh God, SOMEBODY HELP ME!” Heaven screamed.

Jumping out of her car, Heaven ran around to the passenger side and opened the door. It was a car parked beside hers with an older white man inside. “Please, sir. Could you call 911? Please…please,” she continued to cry as she held La-La in her arms. Heaven begin kicking her own ass. If only she would have left like she started to instead of waiting on some damn chicken nuggets.

“Ma’am, I can’t help her if you don’t step to the side and let me do my job,” one of the paramedics said to Heaven. Heaven slowly stepped back. She was so in a daze that she didn’t notice when Zylen pulled up.

“Heaven, baby, what the fuck happened?” he asked, hugging her tightly. All she could do was shake her head and cry. Zylen looked over her shoulders and saw them putting La-La on the stretcher right before rushing her to the ambulance.

“FUCK! Heaven, look at me,” Zylen grabbed her face to make her look at him. “What happened to La-La?” he asked but before she could answer him a police officer came over.

Heaven told him for the second time that she had no idea who could have done such thing. All she wanted to do was get to the hospital with her best friend. Once she was finished talking to the police she was free to go.

“Yo Fred, drive Heaven car to her mom’s house and park it. I’ll get up with you some other time,” Zylen told him as he pulled Heaven to his car. He fished in his pockets for his phone, wondering how he was going to tell Ali about La-La.

“Yo?” Ali answered on the second ring.

“Bruh, I need you to stop whatever you’re doing and meet me at the hospital ASAP.”

  “A’ight. Everything’s okay?” Ali asked.

“Not really. Just meet me there.” With that Zylen hung up.

When they pulled up to the hospital Zylen dropped Heaven off at the front entrance and he went to find a parking space. Walking up to the door, he heard his name being called and turned to see Ali walking towards him.

“What’s up, man? Why we had to meet here? Is Heaven okay?” he asked Zylen.

Zylen really didn’t want to tell Ali that it was La-La that was hurt. He figured Heaven would be better off telling him instead but she was taking it hard already, so he wouldn’t put her in that position.

Ali looked confused because of the long pause Zylen was taking. He was trying not to think the worst but he couldn’t help to think about La-La and his unborn child.

“It’s La-La, man. I don’t know what happened but one of the J’s I serve called and told me some shit happened at Wendy’s that involved Heaven. When me and Fred got there they were putting La-La on the stretcher,” said Zylen all in one breath.

Ali felt like everything in him had been sucked out of his body. He felt like a zombie walking inside the hospital where Heaven was pacing around the waiting room.

“Oh my God Ali, I’m so sorry. I should have just left her chicken nuggets in there,” Heaven hugged Ali’s neck and cried. “I’m so sorry, Ali.”

“Shhh, it’s not your fault, Heaven,” Ali said to her.

After sitting there for what seemed like forever the doctor finally came.

“The family of a Ms. Layla Williams,” he announced and they all rushed over to him.

“That’s us,” Ali and Heaven said at the same time.

“Well Ms. Layla was stabbed multiple times in the stomach. We had to perform an emergency caesarean and Ms. Layla is doing fine,” he paused. “I’m sorry to tell you but we were unable to save the twins,” the doctor said sadly.

Ali couldn’t say anything or move. He was stuck. Because La-La and Heaven were on the way home from the doctor’s office when the incident occurred, she never got a chance to tell Ali they were having twins.

“Can I see her?” asked Heaven.

“Sure, she’s highly sedated but you can come on back,” the doctor said, leading the way.

Once Heaven was in the room, she rushed over to La-La’s bedside. La-La looked so peaceful and Heaven just cried. She was blaming herself for what happened to her friend. Heaven cried and apologized to La-La before leaving the room.

  Chapter 21

La-La had been home for a couple of days now and was still trying to cope with the loss of her twins. She still couldn’t believe anyone would want to harm innocent babies that didn’t ask to be in the world. She wasn’t beefing with anyone so she couldn’t think for the life of her who it could’ve been.

Ali laid in bed watching TV while stroking La-La’s hair. He felt the wetness on his chest and knew she was crying. He was hurting also about the loss but he couldn’t imagine the pain that La-La was feeling at the moment. He still hadn’t asked h
er what went down that day because he wanted to give her some time. Ali knew when she wanted to talk she would and he would be right there to listen.

“Why would anyone want to hurt my babies?” she cried out. “My babies didn’t do anything to anyone and they killed them, Ali. Why would they do that?” La-La continued to cry. Ali didn’t say anything. He knew she had to get it all out.

“Let it out baby. Let it all out.” Ali rocked her as she cried.

“They wanted to kill my babies, Ali. They went right for my stomach and started attacking.”

Ali knew she was ready to start talking.

“Did you see the person?” he asked.

“No, I didn’t see them. I don’t even have a clue on who it could’ve been. I’m not beefing with anyone but Kim and I don’t think she would want to harm my babies like that,” La-La said.

Ali thought otherwise. He wouldn’t put shit passed Kim’s ass, or anyone else for that matter. He just knew he had to keep his ears in the street because one thing was for sure, the streets were going to talk.

Heaven was still blaming herself for what happened to her friend. Since that day she’d been so depressed that all she wanted to do was lay in bed and sleep. Sunshine had taken Hydeia out with her but little did Heaven know, her mother called Zylen to go over to check on Heaven. Sunshine was hoping he could get through to Heaven because she couldn’t.

Zylen was at the corner store when Sunshine pulled up with his daughter and gave him the key to her house so he could let himself in. After kissing his daughter and seeing Sunshine off, Zylen was on his way. When he walked inside the house it was quiet and he headed straight to Heaven’s room, opening the door to find her laying with the covers over her head.

“Get up, Heaven,” he said, yanking the covers back.

“What are you doing here, Zy?” Heaven asked, not bothering to open her eyes.

“I came to get you out this house. Now get up and put on some clothes,” Zylen demanded.

“No, I don’t feel like going anywhere.”

Zylen picked Heaven up against her will and carried her to the bathroom. Heaven knew not to put up a fight and once Zylen had her in the bathroom she let him know she would take it from there. He went into her bedroom to pick her out something to wear, which was a pair of skinny jeans, a white baby tee, and all white Air Forces. Heaven walked into her room in just a towel. Zylen’s dick instantly became hard being that he hadn’t had any pussy since he and Heaven broke up.

“I’ll be up front waiting for you.” He left the room and headed to the living room. Fifteen minutes later Heaven was ready. She didn’t say anything as she and Zylen walked to the car.

“So what you want to do today?” Zylen asked once he pulled off.

“I thought you knew since you came over and demanded I get out the house,” said Heaven.

  “Are you hungry?”

  “A little.”

Zylen headed to Olive Garden since it was their favorite restaurant. It took a minute but Heaven finally warmed up to Zylen. They talked and laughed about a little of everything. After leaving there, Zylen took Heaven on a little shopping spree. Heaven wasn’t ready to go home just yet so she asked Zylen to stop her by La-La’s house. La-La had been trying to reach out to Heaven and let her know she didn’t blame her, but Heaven wasn’t answering any of her calls.

“Hey, what’s up, y’all?” Ali let them in.

“Hey, how is she doing?” asked Heaven.

“She’s better. I’m glad you finally came by.” Ali led them to their bedroom.

La-La was sitting up in bed watching TV, once she saw Heaven her eyes lit up.

“Hey, boo,” La-La said excitedly while stretching her arms for a hug.

“Hey, babes. How are you feeling?” Heaven asked as they hugged and cried in each other’s arms. Zylen and Ali just stood back watching.

Heaven pulled back. “I’m so sorry, La. I should have just left those damn nuggets,” she cried. La-La wiped her tears.

“Look at me, Heaven. It’s not your fault so stop blaming yourself,” La-La said to her. “I don’t blame you for what happened to me and I need for you to stop blaming yourself.”

Heaven just nodded her head up and down.

“I’m serious, boo,” La-La looked at her seriously.

  “Okay,” Heaven softly said.

Heaven felt so much better since she knew that her best friend didn’t blame her for the loss of her twins. She and La-La kicked it for a little, while their men sat on the porch smoking and chilling. It was just like old times. The only difference was Zylen wasn’t Heaven’s man.

“So how is things going with you and Heaven?” Ali asked as he and Zylen sat on the porch.

  “Still the same,” Zylen said.

“So have you heard from Tamar?”

“Nah, I haven’t heard from her ass either. I guess she’s happy now that she broke me and Heaven up,” Zylen said.

“Man, that bitch ain’t no good. I told you a long time ago to stay away from that ho. You should have offed that bitch when she first approached you,” said Ali as Heaven was walking out. He and Tamar had never really gotten along.

“You ready to take me home?” Heaven asked Zylen. He just nodded his head and got up. After dapping Ali up he and Heaven were on their way.

Sunshine still wasn’t home with Hydeia when Heaven got there. Zylen got her bags out and took them to her room.

“Thanks, Zy. I really needed to get out this house and seeing La-La made me feel so much better,” Heaven said as she sat on the bed.

“Well that’s good to hear,” Zylen said. For the next few minutes he and Heaven just stared at one another unsure of what to say.

“Well I guess I’m about to be out,” Zylen said.

“I’ll walk you out,” said Heaven, getting off the bed.

Heaven really didn’t want Zylen to leave and it was taking everything in her to watch the love of her life walk out the door. She was still wearing her engagement ring and Zylen knew then that she wasn’t completely over him. He wanted to make things right with Heaven but he knew they couldn’t live a happy life with Tamar always lurking around. But he was planning on changing all of that sooner than later.

  Chapter 22

Tamar had been laying low after ruining Zylen and Heaven’s relationship. She called Zylen once since his break up. After he threatened her, she didn’t call him again; in fact, she had a new man in her life and she’d learned he wasn’t a big fan of Heaven. That only made Tamar’s plan a little easier, and since Zylen thought the world revolved around Heaven, Tamar was willing to take him out if she had to.

“Hey, sexy.” Tyrone strolled out the bathroom and over to Tamar’s bed.

“Hey, good-looking,” she replied back as he leaned down for a kiss. Tyrone was all types of fine to Tamar. He was tall and chocolate, just the way she liked her men. He kind of reminded her of Zylen, but Tyrone wasn’t nearly as fine and sexy as Zylen was. Zylen was the true definition of fine! He put the F in fine and the S in sexy, hands down.

“Well I’m about to go. Will I see you later?”

“You sure will,” said Tamar. She watched Tyrone exit the room, heading to the front door. As soon as Tamar heard the door close, she grabbed her phone.

“Hey chica,” she said when Kim answered.

“What’s up, bitch? What you up to?” Kim replied.

“Shit, Tyrone just left. Sound like you’re riding. Where you going?”

“On my way to get Gina’s ass,” said Kim.

Tamar rolled her eyes upwards. She really didn’t care too much about Gina. Whenever they were together she was always trying to get Kim to call and make up with Heaven and Tamar would always curse her ass out.

“Well y’all have fun. You know I don’t fuck with her like that,” Tamar let it be known, which Kim already knew, that she didn’t care for Gina.

Yeah, I know,” was all Kim said.

  “Shit, I migh
t off her ass my damn self once I kill that bitch Heaven she loves so much. I don’t know what that bitch did to them but they love her ass to death. I mean, that nigga Zy is willing to die for the ho,” Tamar said, becoming angry all over again. Just the thought of someone else having Zylen’s heart pissed Tamar off.

Tamar really wanted to make things right with Zylen. She thought even with her stealing from him, Zylen would always be there for her but, he was really acting brand new since he’d gotten with Heaven. Tamar never had a problem with Heaven or her girls before she left but now that she’s back, she had a personal problem with that bitch Heaven and would take out anyone she had to, to get to her, including Hydeia.

“Hello,” Tamar said after Kim didn’t say anything.

“Yeah, I’m still here, Gina just got in the car,” Kim said. That was Tamar’s cue to not say another word about Gina.

“Well call me when you drop her off and don’t forget to talk to her about that one thing we talked about because we needs to get this shit in action,” said Tamar.

“A’ight, I’m on it,” with that Kim ended the call.

Tamar didn’t have to worry about Kim trying to get Gina to do anything because Gina was like a little puppy when it came to her. All Kim had to do was offer her powder and she would do whatever. Lately Gina had even began smoking crack, thanks to Kim.

“Hey, chick,” Kim said, pulling off.

  “Hey,” Gina said sadly.

“What’s wrong, boo? Why are you sounding all sad and shit? You need a fix?” Kim asked, referring to powder, crack, or whatever Gina wanted or needed at the time. Gina just shook her head.

“Nah, I’m not fucking with that shit anymore,” she replied, looking out the window.

Gina was really tired of being Kim’s pet. Since Tamar had come into the picture Kim had become unstoppable. She was doing any and everything to bring Heaven down.

“Well what’s wrong?” Kim asked once again.

“I’m not feeling this shit, Kim. You, La-La, Heaven, and I were supposed to grow old together. What happened to the four musketeers, Kim?
