Rebecca places a second cord across their hands.
MINISTER (CONT'D) Chelsea, will you share Andrew’s laughter and sorrow?
CHELSEA I will.
MINISTER
Andrew, will you share Chelsea’s laughter and sorrow?
ANDREW I will.
MINISTER
Chelsea and Andrew, will you favor each other’s strengths and overcome each other’s weaknesses?
CHELSEA Yes.
ANDREW Yes.
MINISTER
And so the binding is made.
Rebecca places a third cord across their hands. The minister hands the ceremonial book to Rebecca and then ties the ends of the cords together.
MINISTER (CONT'D) The knots of this binding are not formed by these cords, but rather by your vows. For always, you hold in your hands the making or breaking of this union.
The minister removes the cords and places them on the altar. Rebecca hands the ceremonial book back to the minister and then hands to him the wedding rings.
MINISTER (CONT'D) We give thanks to God for the gift of marriage and the special gifts bride and bridegroom bring to each other; we ask for God’s grace for them that their marriage be enriched.
The minister hands one ring to Chelsea. Chelsea takes the ring and places it on Andrew’s left ring finger.
CHELSEA
Andrew, I give you this ring in God’s name, as a symbol of all that we have promised, and all that we share.
The minister hands the other ring to Andrew. Andrew takes the ring and places it on Chelsea’s left ring finger.
ANDREW
Chelsea, I give you this ring in God’s name, as a symbol of all that we have promised, and all that we share.
The minister takes Chelsea’s left hand and then Andrew’s right.
MINISTER
I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Andrew and Chelsea step next to one another and kiss. After the kiss, Andrew looks for a moment into Chelsea’s eyes before speaking softly.
ANDREW
The only regret I will have for the rest of my life is that I had to wait until now to find my true companion.
