“You know we gotta go down to Miami today right?”
“Yea, I remember.”
Tyshawn was always checking on me, making sure I remembered shit. He must have forgot I was the big sister.
“Did you send that money up to mom?” He asked.
“Yea I did. Trina got it and put it in the account.”
“Bet. I got a few stops to make and then I’ll be to get you. Cool?”
“Yea.”
I started packing. I knew once we got to Miami, we would do what we gotta do and then it was party time! I asked one of my homegirls if she wanted to ride, she was down but she kept asking too many questions.
“What we doing? For how long?”
“Tyshawn gotta deliver a package to some dudes on the way. Look girl, you wanna roll or not?”
“Yea I’m down. Let me start packing. You know I love your fine ass brother right?”
I hung up. Sasha was always talking some shit about getting pregnant by Ty, but I knew she only wanted him because he was getting money.
Ty was finally on the move. He had to come get me and Sasha, Sasha got dropped off at my house so we would all be in one spot, then go pick up the package, then stop by his girlfriend’s job and he also wanted to see Megan before we hit the road.
"Bitch! Whose car is that outside? Can't be from round here cuz I never seen it.” Said one of the girls from the shop.
Tyshawn drives a red and black caprice classic. Big rims and thump in the trunk. He got out of the car with what looked like a thousand roses, a big-ass teddy bear, a gift box from LV and sets it on the hood of the car.
“Cash, ya dude out there.” One of the girls yelled from outside her shop.
Cash is a Dominican chick straight off the boat. Strong accent, Don't play no games when it comes to her man, money or her hustle. I respected her for that.
"Hey baby! What's all this?" She said.
"Some shit.” He answered and kissed her.
Tyshawn always kept his cool when it came to, hell, pretty much everything.
"So listen, you know I got that thing tonight. I know you and the girls going to Orlando for the hair show and all, I just wanted to bring you a lil sumn before I left.” He said.
"Mhm and when are you coming back Tyshawn?”
"Don't trip. I’ll be back Sunday, before you."
"Better be. I'm leaving straight from work so I'll call you when I get there and be-careful puh-lease. You know I don't like you doing that shit anyway. All of this.” She slapped him the face with the roses, “means nothing-to-me.”
Tyshawn hated when she talked about what he did. He would always roll his eyes and kiss her to shut her up and that right there, would start their flirting.
“Alright chica. So you good? you got money?"
"Nigga.” She laughed. “Yes I have money. Do you got money? you want me to finesse your weekend?”
He loved when she talked like that. Shit turned him on and made him wanna take her to the back of the salon quick-quick. She could always make him laugh and not be so uptight, with his serious ass.
“Nah I'm good. I got us." He pulled out his wad and told her to count to 60 while he thumbed through the bills.
Chapter Five
Tyshawn and his homeboy Flin, set up shop in Flin’s neighborhood, the suburbs. Flin was white boy, rich parents, kinda nerdy, but him and Tyshawn were tight. They became best friends in their high school chemistry class. Tyshawn loved science and English. All that shit paid off too. When Flin moved to Florida, he set up shop.
“Flin what's good brotha man. You got that package ready for me?”
"Come on man. Aren't I always ready.”
"Yea true. What's this right here?”
"Oh! Remember that kid Colton? Well we started working on some binding for the tabs, shit just doesn't seem to be setting right.”
"Too strong of an agent maybe? And this dye, there's a waxy enzyme in the mix. That could have an effect too.”
"Dude. See. Us. Fate.”
"Yea. Yea. So what's up nerd, you wanna ride out to Miami for the weekend or you got something better to do?”
"Miami!? What's a nerd to do. You know we don't hang around the same crowd.”
"That's for sure! Well, I'll bring you some girls back.”
Tyshawn always gave Megan a ride home from school, every Friday. Megan and cash couldn’t get along for shit, but he’s known Megan since they were kids and it's been nothing but love ever since. We all think there's more to it, but they swear they’re just really. Besides, Megan has a boyfriend. Tyshawn can't stand the Nigga because he gets physical with her, but whatever works for her, is just what it is I guess.
“Why can’t her boyfriend pick her up?” I asked.
“Because that Nigga ain’t shit. I got her. Chill out.”
He always got so touchy whenever anybody mentioned Megan or her boyfriend. That shit was so funny. He loves that girl, I don’t care what he says.
"Shabba Shab, hey y’all.” Megan was so cute and sweet. I would rather see him with her, than Cash any day.
“What up girl lets ride. You need to go anywhere before I drop you off? I gotta hit the road soon.”
"Where you going?” She asked with attitude.
"Got a lil sumn sumn to take care of.”
"Ehh whatever. I need to.” She paused. “I don't even know. But where you going? I might wanna go.”
"Nope. I'm going out of town til Sunday ma'am.”
"Mhm. Well just take me to get some food and I'm good.”
They both like Chinese food. Shit, so did me and my girl Sasha. So we all ended up sitting down with the grub. He was asking her about school and she was asking him about life. She wanted to know if Cash still couldn’t stand her and he wanted to know if she finally ditched that dumb-ass Nigga. Megan always got heated whenever he talked about her boyfriends, but Tyshawn didn't give a damn. He said what was on his mind about the Nigga every time.
“That dude is a clown Meg. You need to leave him alone.”
"I hear u Tyshawn, I hear you.” She got quiet for a minute.
“I’m pregnant.”
No warning. No warm up. No nothing! She just dropped the ultimate bomb. Shit hit Tyshawn like a bullet. He was so stunned by what she said he actually thought she was joking, but nope, she was dead ass serious.
“By dude?”
"No, by you. Who else, stupid?”
"You bugging. So what you gonna do?”
"Uhh, I'm gonna have a baby? Fuck is you talking bout?”
"And you dead hype about this shit huh? You think he gonna step
up?”
"He better, I mean, it's his kid too.” Right there, Tyshawn killed the conversation and drove her home.
He was quiet the whole ride thinking about how stupid his friend sounded amped about having a baby. Her mother, was gonna FLIP.
"Are you upset?” If looks could kill she would've dropped dead.
"You're really dumb. But you good? You need anything? You got bread on you for diapers and shit?”
"Ugh I hate how you never wanna talk about shit but yea. I'm good.”
"Then close the door, I'll speak to you later.”
Chapter Six
Tyshawn had started pushing mad weight since we been here. We were only supposed get what we needed for mommy and be done, but he got hooked up with some niggas from Alabama, just being a driver. They paid him good to travel and make drops but Tyshawn wanted to push his own weight and a lot of it. He never nicked and dimed, shit not even dubbed or quartered. Ounce or better and that's how he kept it, all throughout our stay.
The niggas he had to meet in ft. Myers had just touched down from Atlanta on some music shit and wanted something good to smoke, as well as take back. 2 pounds. A pretty fucking penny. They planned to meet up at 7 in the mall parking lot. Tyshawn never did business at his crib, Mine or nobody else's crib. No secret hide outs, none of that shit, especially if it was something big. If somethin
g went down, there would be people around and cameras. Can never be too careful.
When we got to the mall he called the dudes for the pick up. They were to leave the money in the backseat, the driver stayed behind the wheel and everyone else walked inside. Tyshawn showed the driver the package, in a backpack from the backseat, counted the money and we dipped.
Tyshawn was a straight up ladies man, but I could tell Sasha was starting to annoy the Fuck out of him. He was ready to drop her ass right back home. She kept wilding like she never left the city before or some shit. I mean she was WILD.
"Yo, what y’all tryna do? Y’all coming out or chilling?"
"I'm tryna go out my Nigga we bout to be in Miami what you Mean?”
"Cool sis. Shorty back there look like she a firecracker. I don't wanna see her get beat up or nothing.” That shit made me crack up.
A lot had changed about Tyshawn since we been in Florida, but he was still funny.
"And who gonna beat me up? I got hands. Don't think I don't.” Tyshawn just looked at her through the rearview mirror and shook his head.
He had already booked a suite with 2 rooms, only thing they had to do when they got there, was hit the mall so he could stock up on some fits, grab whatever else he needed, then check in. Cash had called him to let him know she was getting on the road and to make sure he was ok and! To make sure there were no bitches in the car.
Chapter Seven
Finally in Dade county, it was time to hit the mall. We all had been drinking and got tipsy before we got there. Tyshawn was just ready to hit the mall. He already had in mind what he wanted to wear tonight, so it wouldn't take that long to get in and get out.
"Cha-ching.” Cash had called him again.
"Hola papi. Did you make it?”
“yea we just got here. At the mall right now bout to find something to put on, where you at?”
"I'm almost to the hotel. I went and got jas-“
"HEYYY TYSHAWN! SHE GOOD, DONT WORRY YOURSELF!” Jasmine was always loud as hell and never shut up.
Tyshawn didn't see how cash could stand being friends with her.
"Ooh so Yal bout to do some partying too huh?”
A lil sumn. As you would say. Nothing major, just the girls having fun baby.”
“I hear you. Well I’ll let you get situated and you call me back later ok.”
Ok baby. Later.”
The mall was PACKED. Tyshawn didn't really do crowds, so he wanted to get what he came for and be out. Sasha on the other hand, she wanted to be social. I guess since she was single, she felt it was cool to act CRAZY. She was grabbing peoples hands and getting numbers, shorty wasn't even in her right mind.
“Yo, why you bring her?” Tyshawn whispered.
“I don’t even know.” I laughed.
"I'm bout to head to footlocker and see what kinda shoes they got.
“Ok baby bro. You go head. I’m bout to walk this way.” Tyshawn headed in one direction, I went in another.
Not paying too much attention to Sasha, he was surprised when she ended up in footlocker with him. Nigga did a whole 360 to make sure he wasn't dreaming.
"Uhh, you following me?” he asked.
“Your sister is tripping. I don’t wanna walk with her,” she said.
“That's ya girl though.” He was teasing her.
“Not as of right now.” She looked serious.
“Y’all crazy.” He was trying to cheer her up.
Tyshawn spotted some Jays. The 4s. Red and black, just like his whip. While he waited for the chick to bring his size out, he and Sasha talked a lil bit. Nothing personal, he just didn't want her to feel too left out. While they're talking, he noticed some fine ass girl walking in with her friend. She had to be Cuban or Dominican. Curly hair, green eyes, body BANGING.
Conversation with Sasha was lost, instantly. While he tried on the shoes, the girls walked over to the girl working and I guess they knew each other, because they started talking like they had been talking all along. Tyshawn and the girl with the curly hair, locked eyes for a minute. When she smiled at him, her dimples made him weak. She made a little stink face towards Sasha and Tyshawn shook his head to say: "Nahh. That's not my girl.”
“You want the shoes?” The cashier asked.
“Yea I want em.” Tyshawn was dead serious.
“Anything else?” asked the cashier.
Tyshawn had to catch himself before he spazzed on shorty. Not only was she being snooty, but she was into her damn conversation more than her sale. When she finally decided to walk towards the register, Tyshawn just shook his head and started to walk behind her, then he felt a tug on his shirt tail.
"What's up?” It’s was curly hair.
"What's up?” she asked, flirting.
Tyshawn couldn't get past how damn fine she was. She looked good as hell standing there sucking on a lollipop, curls everywhere and those dimples, drove him crazy. All of that, topped with the way she approached him, oh yea, it was bout to be some shit.
He spotted some trues he may have wanted, but he also wanted to go into American eagle. With a quick shuffle, he made a decision to turn around and go for the trues, then hit A.E. As he turned around, he saw Curly hair, whose name was Carlie and her home girl walking up behind them. They kinda brushed up against each other while passing and he heard her whisper something like “don't make me hurt you” that made Tyshawn damn near bite his lip off.
About an hour and a half and 50 bags later, Tyshawn decided to get something to eat, then head back to the room to pre-game and figure out he wanted to wear. Of course he ordered Chinese. He called me up on my cell phone.
“Yo sis, where you at?” he asked.
“Just left Victoria Secret. You?”
“Gross. Come to the food court, we bout to eat,” he said.
“What you want?” he asked Sasha.
“Aww you gonna buy my food?” she asked.
“Umm, you can buy it yourself if you want?”
Once they got their food and sat down, he spotted Carlie. Again. She was just sitting there sipping her smoothie, staring at him. He flashed her a smile and she licked her lips in the most seductive, but innocent way ever!
“HUH!” Sasha yelled.
“Huh? My bad I didn't hear you.” He had been daydreaming about Carlie.
“I said where are we going tonight?” Sasha was annoyed with him flirting with that bitch.
"Oh I don't know yet. Wherever the most action is.” He went back to eating his food.
Chapter Eight
“Why y’all let me buy all this shit?” Tyshawn asked us.
“Boy! don't blame us!” We laughed.
“Why y’all ain't say let’s go! Crazy-ass girls.”
“We’re not driving.”
Sasha had gotten some guys number while we were at the mall. Shaw took her bag and said she was going to get ready with him. I didn’t think anything of it, she’s a grown woman, she can do what she wants. No call, no text, nothing. Tyshawn had everything he bought from the mall laid out in the living room of the suite and I started making drinks. In the midst of drinking and sorting through the clothes, shoes and accessories he had bought, his phone buzzed.
“Why ya friend texting me?” he asked me.
“Because she has a crush on you? What she say?” I asked.
“Nothing. Just that she was good and where we going.” Tyshawn didn't even reply to the message.
How the fuck she thought it was cool to leave them, for a Nigga she didn’t know. What if something happened to her? We didn’t sweat it though. We came to handle business and have a good weekend. Nah, scratch that, a GREAT weekend.
“How this look?” I asked.
“Turn around.” He paused. “It look straight.”
“Brown heels or knee high boots?”
“Wait, do I look like one of your home girls or something?” he asked.
“No!” I laughed. “But you do look like you know what looks good.”
He looked me up and down and said, “Wear the boots.”
Before he went to take a shower and get ready, he texted Carlie to see what the plan was. She wanted to meet in South Beach and go from there. That worked for us because we’d never been the type for keeping track of plans and shit, we just kinda went with the flow. Whatever happened, happened.
It was going on 10:30 and Cash hadn't called him yet. He knew she was probably busy setting up for the hair show, so he wasn't too pressed. If she didn't call by 1 though, It was gonna be a problem. Stripped down to his underwear and tank, he laid out his fit: red and black jays, black true religion jeans, red and black true religion patch work, Jean vest, red and black bulls fitted.
Knock, knock. I knocked on the door.
“Can I have the iron, please?” I asked him.
“How you know it's in here?” he asked
“Because it's not out there. Duh,” I said
“Smart-ass mouth. Yea you can have it. Can you iron that shirt for me?” he asked.
“You're talking? But yea, I got you baby bro.” I told him.
12:45 and still nothing from Cash. It was starting to blow him because he knew how Jasmine was and he knew how Cash could get. He sent her a text to see what was up, 15 minutes later, no reply. Fuck it. He sat at the bar of the suite with his drink, starting to feel it more and more, waiting on me to get ready.
“Knock knock.” He said sarcastically.
“Come in.” I said.
“You staying here?” he asked.
“Don’t be a jerk Tyshawn. I'm coming, dang. Tie this.”
“Here you go with this home girl shit again.”
“Just shut up and tie it.”
“Alright. Now come on.”
Chapter Nine
Tyshawn’s mind was else where. Like why was it after 1 and he still hadn't heard from Cash. Old conversations he and Megan had had played back in his mind. Whatever, it's Miami! South beach! A party! He looked over at me and asked me what my problem was.
“I’m good bro.” Smiling hard as hell. “Feeling my drinks and you keep texting and I wanna make sure you don't kill us.”
