  Chapter 6

“Yo Tre, pass me that blunt.” Marcus said, as he reached over to the passenger side of his souped up, blacked out Suburban. He grabbed the blunt and took a couple hits as he drove down the busy streets of the Chi. It was Marcus, Tre, and a couple of his other buddies, Damon and Mike, in the car with him.

Tre rolled down his window and hollered at some of the girls who walked the streets in tight dressed and nine inch stilettos.

“Damn, bitch! You lookin’ real, real good. You tryna let a nigga hit that?”

“Ew, nah. Not unless yo ass is payin’ for alla this. I ain’t for free and I ain’t cheap either.” The girls hollered back as they kept on rolling by.

“Nigga keep yo shit in yo pants. We got some bombass bitches at the party that we heading to so just wait, nigga damn,” Marcus sneered, as he took another hit off of the blunt.

“Yo, Damon,” Mike in the back of the car said, referring to his patna sitting right next to him.

“Yo, what up Mike?” Damon replied.

“Yooooooo, yo. Yo, Damon. Nigga, I heard Chris was locked up for doin’ some shit. I heard lil nigga got caught up shooting someone up!”

“Shit? For real though? Yo, you mean, uh Devyn’s brother?”

Marcus perked up at the mention of her name and quickly interjected, “Nigga, whatchu say about Devyn’s punkass brother? What did bro get himself into?”

The two of them heard his question, but they just started laughing and changed the subject. They were both crossfaded off some lean and good weed, so they couldn’t really think straight. Marcus became slightly agitated, but he took a second to calm down, realizing that if he were to have popped off on them, it would have got him nowhere. He looked in his rearview mirror and stared at them.

“Y’all done fucking around? I want some answers. What in the fuck was y’all talking about?”

They both sat up and tried to talk, but they slurred everything they said. Marcus just shook his head and dismissed the idea of trying to get any information from those idiots.

“Yo, yo. Marcus, All I know is dude was real petty for killing whoever it was that he bodied.”

  “Oh? Aight, good to know.”

Marcus just shook his head and pulled into a driveway. The house was lit up with bright lights flashing and loud music blaring. He put the car in park and all of them stumbled out of the car. They made their way into the house and said hello to everyone they passed by, giving handshakes to other members of their gang. Marcus poured himself some Hennessy and knocked back a few as he danced with some girls and talked with some of his boys. Although he was having a great time dancing and losing himself in the drugs and alcohol, he couldn’t help but think about what his boys were talking about in the car. What was it that was bothering him so much? Maybe it was just him not knowing what the hell was going on, and the fact that it had to do with Devyn, that pissed him off. He kept it in the back of his mind to look more into it. Right now, he was too busy havin a good time, and he didn’t need the thought of his ex bitch inhibiting his fun.

“Hey, big daddy,” a fine and petite woman in a bright pink bodycon dress said as she ran her hand across his chest. Marcus looked down at her and smiled as he placed his finger under her chin, shooting her a seductive smile. The girl reciprocated and turned around. She placed her lower body on his groin and slowly started to dance on him, increasing the speed of her hips as the music changed. He laughed and enjoyed this so he matched her rhythm and danced all on her, grabbing her at her waist so that there was literally no room between the two of them. The girl was definitely feeling herself because she was whipping her shoulder length, Ariel the mermaid, red weave as she danced all up on him. This made him feel like he was the man, and he was ready to get down with this girl. The movement of her hips was hypnotizing, and he was definitely in a trance. Marcus looked around at his patnas who saw what he was getting himself into, and they all threw up their hands in approval. He chuckled before he made her stand up. The girl got the gist of what he was trying to get her to do and complied happily.

Marcus drunkenly led her to the back of the house and bypassed rooms that were already filled with people doing what he was about to do. He spotted an empty room and pulled her into it, closing the door behind the two of them. They were both extremely drunk. Marcus threw the petite woman onto the bed, climbing on top of her. He kissed her neck all the way down to her thighs, and then pushed up her dress and parted her legs. He smiled up at her when he saw she wasn’t wearing any panties and that she was already dripping wet. She smiled back at him and giggled as she reached down and touched his face. He kissed her hand just before kissing her inner left thigh, tracing his lips down her thigh towards her warm pussy. He kissed her other set of lips before dragging his tongue up against her clit. She moaned and grabbed at his head, forcing him to penetrate his tongue inside of her. He teased and played with her before nibbling at her pelvis and up on her sides.

The girl quickly got up and stripped off her dress. She tossed him onto the bed and climbed on top of him. He reached up and unhooked her bra, tossing it across the room before fondling her breasts. She went straight to business and unbuttoned his pants, licking his dick while she simultaneously, grabbed and groped his balls. He groaned in pleasure and became impatient. As much as he was enjoying her doing that for him, he was ready to fully enjoy her. He picked her up and laid her back down. She wiggled her hips teasingly and opened up her legs, waiting for him.

“Come on, big daddy. Give it to me.”

That was enough to drive him crazy. He shoved his dick inside of her and groaned as he felt her walls tighten around his dick. She moaned loudly and gripped the sheets as he stroked deep inside of her, She came in less than fifteen minutes. It was cool with Marcus that she came fast because her tight ass pussy made him come right after she did. He pulled out just in time and nutted all over her face. She smiled as she cleaned him up and swallowed his cum. Shortly after, she put on her clothes and went on her way. Marcus got dressed. He got what he wanted. He had been wanting to get his nut in for some time now, so he didn’t care that it wasn’t as long as it could have been. He watched her leave and followed shortly after her.

He was coming off his high and was mildly able to remember what he was doing. Marcus was tired and ready to head home. He looked over at his boys and saw them kissing up on girls and feeling up on their skirts. Since he was done with being there, but didn’t want to leave them, he suggested they all just pile up into his car and head back to his crib. They didn’t object to Marcus’s offer and they headed out.

Once they were in the car, they all stuck with their girls and continued to laugh and kiss on one another. Marcus just kept quiet all the way to his house. When they arrived, they all got out of the car and headed inside his lavish home. He watched them all noisily stumble up the stairs as he took his seat in the living room.

Marcus poured himself a glass of bourbon and knocked it back. He repeated the process a couple of times before he sat back in the couch and propped up his feet.

“Five drinks...” Marcus muttered, referencing to how many drinks he had to knock back before it was quiet in the house. He sat in silence and knocked back a few more shots before concluding that the glass was just an inconvenience and that it was better to just drink straight out of the bottle. So he did, and consumed a good portion of the bottle, leaving only a quarter of the bottle full. He stared at the ceiling and watched as the room spun. The alcohol was hitting him hard and he didn’t care about it, if anything, he absolutely loved the feeling he was in.

  Ring, ring.

Marcus struggled to pull his phone out of his pocket but when he managed to get it out, he answered the phone just in time. He was too drunk to say anything so he just grunted on the phone, hoping the other person, whoever was calling, would acknowledge that he was there.

“Yo, Marcus.” a deep voice spoke on the other line.

Marcus was honestly too drunk to compreh
end and wasn’t in the mood to even talk to whoever was on the other line. He was about to hang up until he heard the voice speak again.

“I got some information for you, bro.”

  Chapter 7:

It was a somber morning for Devyn and Makayla. The day they had planned for was finally here, and it was probably the most dreadful day for Devyn. The pastor they wanted to bring on to speak a few words wasn’t able to make it so they spoke the blessing themselves. Devyn and Makayla held one another as they stood behind the closed caskets. They were both dressed in gorgeous bodycon black dresses with matching high heels. This was reality for Devyn, something she really did not want to accept. It was final. She was burying her mother and her own child. They were going down into the ground for her never to see or touch them again. Devyn bit her quivering lip as she pulled out a piece of paper from her clutch. She couldn’t help but shake and sob, unable to speak what she wrote on the paper. Makayla did her best to keep her calm and made sure Devyn knew that she was right beside her. After a while, Devyn got it together and cleared her throat.

“Momma and Zion, I love you with every bit of me. I honestly wish things didn’t have to end this way, but I know that..” She stopped and leaned over the caskets, sobbing her eyes out. She laid there for a good few minutes before she gathered herself up to finish. Makayla looked concerned and asked if she was alright to go on. Devyn just nodded and said that she was.

“I know that you are in heaven, and that you are both having a big ol party for me. I love you.”

Devyn couldn’t take it anymore. She cried her eyes out and kissed the caskets one more time before waving for the guys to come bury the bodies. She was a hot mess and could barely walk. She was weak and Makayla literally had to carry her to the car. They both sat in the car, stunned at what just happened. Devyn was definitely beside herself and just kept on crying. Makayla tried her best to keep it together but found herself tearing up as well. It hurt to see her best friend hurting the way she was, and it was hard to be strong. She too started to cry, but quickly wiped her tears in effort to show her bestie that it was okay to cry, but it was just as easy to get it back together.

With her tears wiped away, Makayla reached over to hug Devyn before starting up the engine to drive home. On the way there, she noticed that Devyn had finally calmed down, but her eyes were all puffy and swollen. She reached over and grabbed her hand to comfort her, letting her hold her hand all the way until they got to her house.

Makayla parked her car and quickly hopped out so that she could open Devyn’s door and usher her into her house.

“Dev, you can, no, you are going to stay here with me, aight? I ain’t want you alone to sulk and shit. I don’t want you to end up dead because yo ass is sad. I’m sad with you, but baby, I can’t have you dying on me. I would be devastated.”

Devyn didn’t even argue with her. She just agreed and laid on the couch, not saying another word.

“Well then, I’m sure you’re hungry so I’ma go on and get us somthin to eat.”

Makayla walked out the door and closed it behind her, leaving Devyn to sink into her dangerous thoughts. She rolled over and blankly stared up at the ceiling.

“I need something and now… I feel like shit,” Devyn muttered as she raided Makayla’s cabinet.

She spotted a nice bottle of Jack Daniels and undid the top, drinking straight from the bottle. She drank a really nice portion of it before setting it down on the coffee table and sitting back down on her couch. She waited until it hit her hard before sinking deeper into the couch. She let her mind wander and allowed the alcohol to just flow through her system. It felt really good. It was definitely what she was looking for and what she wanted. She got what she wished for, unfortunately. She wanted something to calm her and make her feel good, but it came at a cost. Because she was sedated and her body was at ease, she was put in a trance to where her mind just wandered and thought of all the bad.

She felt horrible that she couldn’t protect Zion. Her own baby was ripped out of the world because of her own ignorance. She didn’t mean for any of this to happen, and it wasn’t her fault, yet she felt like she was the cause of all of this. Zion was so young and had such a good future ahead of him. What if he wanted to be the next President or a CEO of a major company? She sobbed as she thought about all the possibilities her precious baby could have had, and she continued to blame herself for causing all of this. Devyn was upset that her own momma was killed by her brother. She was so upset that she had to die that way. Devyn had plans for her too, even though she knew her momma was way too deep in the drug, and that she worshipped the damn needle like it was Jesus. Regardless of the fact that her momma was literally living by the needle, Devyn wanted to raise money to get help for her and try to show her that there was more to life than getting high and depending on a damn drug to make someone feel alive. Devyn honestly thought that maybe momma’s time with Zion would make her appreciate life and appreciate the blessings that could come from having a grandchild, but that just didn’t work out.

Devyn laid there for what felt like hours, unconsciously drinking more from the bottle, not realizing that she was almost finished with the damn thing. It seemed like her emotions got the best of her. She groaned as she rolled over and plopped onto the ground. Devyn was so weak, drunk, and tired, she couldn’t even help herself up. She tried several times before she was able to get back onto the couch. When she finally made it up there, Makayla came back.

“Girl, I got us some--” She stopped as she looked at her best friend who looked like she had been struggling for the past hour. She smelled the alcohol and knew what Devyn had gotten herself into. Makayla sighed heavily as she kicked the door closed before she headed over to her kitchen counter to free up her hands. She then made her way to Devyn and took away the bottle. She shook her head and started to cry again. She hated seeing her girl down like this. All she could do was sit there and be there for her. Makayla left the room for a moment and ran back with a big comforter. She covered Devyn with the blanket and held her.

“Mak, I feel so worthless. I feel like shit, I feel like this is all my faaault.”

“Shut up. Please, you’re slurring all over the damn place. You a hot ass mess right now, and you need to just shut your damn trap. None of this is your fault and you will one day realize that. Maybe not right now, but soon. Until you do, I’m gone be right by yo side.”

Makayla just sat there and rubbed Devyn’s back to calm and comfort her. It really was all she could do.

  Chapter 8:

“Nigga, you said what? Since fucking when?” Marcus yelled in his phone.

“Well, I told you last night, but it seemed like yo ass was drunk or on some shit cause I was sitting there for real tryna tell you.”

“Where the fuck is that triflin ass bitch? Oooh, I swear to God, I’ma murk that hoe. How dare she not tell me that her motherfucking dumbass brother had the nerve to kill my son. He did that shit on purpose, that motherfucking nigga couldn’t stand me. Oooh I’m pissed.”

Marcus threw his phone onto the couch and paced back and forth in his living room, angry and ready to kill someone. He rambled to himself, running ideas through his head as to what he was going to do next. He stopped pacing and collected himself. He knew that he needed to get his shit straight before he could do anything. His source was credible, and it was a proven fact that Devyn’s brother was the one who killed his child. The only issue was that he needed to find his triflin’ ass baby momma so that he could give her a little piece of his mind and so that he could murk the bitch for letting her brother kill their child. Marcus was beyond pissed. He didn’t care what her reason was. He was just mad at the fact that she knew about it and didn’t say shit to him. Maybe she was afraid of what he was going to do in the moment of her telling him when he initially asked? That could be it, but it would have went a lot better than him finding out this way.

Marcus grabbed the keys to his BMW and headed out into the streets
to go look for her. He knew where she lived and decided that maybe the bitch was sulking over at her own house, drinking her life away. He hoped that she was drinking her life away because that made it easier for him to kill her. He raced down the streets and weaved in and out of traffic to get to her rinky little ass apartment.

When he got there, he readied his 9mm pistol before getting out of his car. He stashed his weapon in his left jacket pocket and stomped over to her door. He didn’t care to knock or anything, he just straight up kicked down the damn door and wandered around the place.

“Bitch! I know yo ass is in this damn apartment. Where the fuck are you? You got some shit you need to explain to me. I swear to God, Devyn. I’ma fucking kill you if I find you before you come show yourself to me. I ain’t playing.”

He heard no response and took this as her being defiant. This heated him even more.

“Bitch, I saw yo weak ass car in the damn lot. I know yo ass is hiding!”

He checked the bathroom, the closets, the rooms, and the kitchen but didn’t find anything. He even went as far as checking in the upper and lower cabinets. After searching everywhere possible, he couldn’t find her and concluded that she wasn’t in her apartment.
