One of the Guys

“You look stunning, honey.” He said to me, kissing my head before we left the house.

  “Thanks, Dad.” I replied.

“You walked down the stairs without tripping. Flats?” Logan asked, and I knew he was referring to my footwear.

I lifted the bottom of my dress to show him my new converse sneakers in the same blue as the dress.

  Logan laughed.

“Chase.” My Mom said, shaking her head.

There was no way I was wearing heels. The dress was a push, but heels were a huge no-no. I wanted my ankles in one piece, thank you very much.

Logan took my hand and led me out of the house, to the waiting limousine he’d ordered for us.

The driver held the door for us, and we slid in along the plush black seats.

“You look fucking sexy in that dress.” He said, attacking my mouth the second the door was closed.

“You look fucking hot in that suit.” I said breathlessly as his lips ran down my neck.

“I can’t wait to take this thing off you. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw you on the stairs.”

“My dress is that bad?” I giggled, feeling his tongue sweep across my collar bone.

“No, it’s gorgeous, but you naked is even better.”

We managed to keep the temperature down in the back of the limo, because turning up to the prom, looking as if we’d been ravishing each other, probably wasn’t a good idea.

Feeling thoroughly frustrated we entered the building, having our prom picture taken, and searching for our friends.

Going into the hall, we saw Pike talking to Charlotte. She’d accepted his invitation to the dance, and they seemed to be getting on well.

Sian was with Kate and Lex. Our group knew about their relationship, and had promised to keep it quiet; for Sian’s sake. They seemed to be having fun as Lex walked around with his arms over their shoulders.

However, Stu and Liam didn’t care that anybody knew about them anymore. After a couple of months, they came out by sharing a kiss at our lunch table. Even though it was a shock to some, nobody said a word. Not a bad word, anyway.

Poppy and Carl were another matter.

After his treatment of me, Poppy had run him over hot coals telling him that he should be ashamed of himself for being such an asshole to me, just because he was interested in her. She told him exactly what she thought about that, but had also told him that she would forgive him if I did.

  Did I?

Let’s just say that since Carl had come to his senses, he’d turned out to be a really good friend, and he and Poppy were currently playing tonsil tennis at their table.

“I think everybody’s having a good time already.” I chuckled.

“I think so too.” Logan said, his arms tight around my waist.

  Logan

I watched my gorgeous girlfriend as our friends complimented her on her dress. I felt so proud of her and how much she had grown over the past six months.

Sure, it had been my fault that we’d fallen out, but Chase assured me that if we hadn’t, she wouldn’t have made friends with the girls, and we probably wouldn’t be where we were today. Even though it was a painful time for me, Chase was right.

Holding onto her, I felt my heart swell so much. I felt so happy and blessed to be standing by her side, her hand in mine, knowing that she felt the same about me that I felt about her.

What I needed now, was to have my girl to myself and hold her tight.

  Our first dance together.

I’d been stupid not to ask her in the past, but having her alone, away from everybody was what I thought, at the time, better.

I was wrong. Now, I wanted to show everybody that Chase is mine and that she belonged by my side.

Leading her to the center of the dance floor, I lifted her hands to wrap them around my neck, and I wrapped mine around her waist.

Holding her tight to my body, I felt the warmth of her skin through our clothes.

I dropped my head to kiss her bare shoulder, the sparks flowing through me at the simple contact.

Inhaling her flowery perfume, I kissed up her neck, to her ear.

“I love you.” I whispered, feeling the goosebumps breaking out from my breath on her skin.

“I love you too.” She replied, her eyes sparkling under the star-like twinkling lights in the hall.

  “Good.” I smiled.

Releasing one hand, I felt for the small box in my left pocket, smiling wider when I thought about my plans for the evening ahead.

Chase, my beautiful, special Chase, was going to have a night she wouldn’t forget.

  The End.
