  Arc nodded encouragingly. “With Jilm?”

  Riley shook her head. “With you.”

  Arc leaned back in his seat, eyeing her carefully. “What are you saying, Riley?”

  Riley took in a deep breath, owning her tattered courage with both hands. “I’m saying that I want to stay with here, with you. I want to be with you.”

  Arc studied her carefully. Riley shifted uncomfortably in the silence. What if he didn’t want the same thing? She had felt his warmth and his care but perhaps she had misinterpreted that as something much more.

  “Riley,” Arc finally said, breaking the silence, “I can’t just be with you. I am Vistran. When we fall in love, we fall forever. We commit to eternity.”

  Riley stared at the man who had rescued her and had then stolen her heart. “I understand,” she whispered. And she really did. She was ready.

  “We mate forever,” Arc said again, trying to be clear. His body was screaming for her touch and yet he didn’t want to rob her of anything. “Don’t you want to explore your freedom first?”

  Hot tears of happiness gathered at her lashes. She gave him a wobbly smile. “I found my freedom in you,” she said simply.

  Arc groaned as his heart burst with satisfaction. He leaned over and gathered Riley into his arms as they both fell against the bed. He held her delicate yet full body close. He could feel her soft breasts and wide hips press into him.
