“Calla, trust me, there was no spark,” I assured her.

She scoffed. “You wouldn’t know a spark if a flame blew up in your face. Trust me, there was a spark and I’m going to make sure I pair them up. They would be good for each other. Gabe is lonely, and Holly could use a man to calm her down a little. She needs to relax and if she were to visit here more often, it would do the trick.”

I shook my head, “Gabe isn’t interested in Holly or any other woman.”

  Her eyes widened, “He’s gay?”

“No! No, I meant, he is happy being alone. I don’t think he wants a girlfriend.”

She winked. “You didn’t think you wanted a girlfriend, and look at you now! You couldn’t live without me.”

  I laughed, “That’s different.”

“Nope. Gabe needs a woman and Holly needs a man. I’m just going to help them realize they would be good for each other. I’m not saying they’re going to run off and get married, but they could have a little fun now and again and keep it casual,” she explained, as if that were the most normal thing in the world.

  “Gabe isn’t like that.”

“Neither is Holly, but maybe they can take a walk on the wild side together.”

I took a deep breath. Gabe had told me his life story in confidence, but I knew I could trust Calla. I had to tell her to make her forget about this silly idea she had.

“Gabe is not looking for a woman. He’s in mourning still, I think,” I explained.

  “Mourning?”

I nodded. “He was married. His wife was killed a few years ago. I don’t know if he is ready to move on. It certainly didn’t sound like it the day we spoke. The man really loved her and is feeling a lot of guilt and regret over the whole thing as it is.”

  “How did she die?”

“She was hit by a drunk driver.”

Calla drew in a sharp breath. “That’s horrible. No wonder he always has that look of sadness in his eyes and walks like he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders.”

I nodded my head, agreeing with her assessment. Gabe was haunted by the ghosts of his past. I had seen it the first time we met. The man laughed, and he seemed at peace with his life, but there was always that shadow of grief and guilt clinging to him. I’d had a similar shadow for a long time. It didn’t go away unless the person carrying it around was ready to step into the light. Gabe didn’t seem ready for that.

She clapped her hands together and grinned. “All the more reason to set them up! He needs a little joy in his life!”

I groaned, knowing there was no stopping her. “Calla, can’t you leave the man alone.”

“Nope. He’ll thank me for it.”

I gave up trying to convince her otherwise. Once the woman got an idea in her head, she went with it. There was no stopping her. I had a feeling she had met her match with Gabe. He was a stubborn man and would not be an easy target.

“Alright, I’m going to take care of a few things,” I said, standing and kissing her on the cheek. “I’ll leave you to your meddling.”

Her laughter followed me out the door. By the time we crawled into bed for the night, I was finally feeling ready for our vacation together.

“Did you get everything done?” she asked.

“Yes. I checked and double checked everything. I’m ready.”

She laughed. “You give me anxiety. I have never seen someone prepare as much as you. I lived out of a suitcase for years before coming here. When I had to go away for a week or two, my biggest chore was remembering to lock the door behind me.”

“That’s because you were homeless,” I quipped.

“I wasn’t homeless—I had several homes, in fact. I was a rolling stone,” she joked.

“You still have several homes,” I mumbled.

“No, I don’t. This is my home.”

I let out a long sigh. I had promised myself I wouldn’t bring up the sore subject of the house.

“Jake,” she said, in a low voice, her arm going around my bare chest as she snuggled against my side.

“Hmm?” I asked, expecting her to request me to do something to her body.

“I’m going to sell the house,” she said, in a low voice.

“What?” I stammered, afraid to believe what I heard.

She pinched my nipple. “Stop. You heard me. I know you’ve been dying for me to do it. I’m going to do it,” she paused, and I waited for the other shoe to drop.

  “But?” I prompted.

“But, you have to promise to build me an office up here. I need somewhere to work. Somewhere quiet that’s not in the middle of the cabin. You’re a distraction. I have to get started on my next book when we get back. I can’t sit at the kitchen table and write a book.”

“I will. I’ll build you a whole cabin if you want,” I said, eagerly.

She laughed. “I don’t need a whole cabin, but I would like my office to be attached or have a covered walkway. I don’t want to be walking through three feet of snow this winter to work.”

I kissed her and squeezed her close to me. “I will do whatever you want. I’ll have plenty of time if I don’t have to waste an entire day or two every month driving into the city.”

“Oh, please. It isn’t that bad. Plus, it was always a productive trip. We got to do some shopping, we got to get out into the world, and it was only until I felt comfortable enough to get rid of my safety net,” she said.

“I know. So, let’s get married,” I blurted out.

  “We are.”

“I don’t want to wait. I don’t want to do this big thing. You said you didn’t want to either. Why are we doing something we both don’t want to?” I asked

She was quiet for a long time and I figured I had really stepped in it. Women liked weddings. Women wanted the big to-do and the poufy dress. I was totally ready to suck it up if it would make her happy.

“I’m sorry,” I muttered. “I can wait. We can have the fancy wedding with flowers and bridesmaids and all that. It’s whatever you want.”

“No. You’re right. I don’t want that. I think I thought I did, or thought I was supposed to, but I really don’t. It’s why I’ve been dragging my feet about picking out a dress. We have to have the reception though. Holly would never forgive me if we pulled out of that.”

“I’m good with that. A party is a hundred times better than a stuffy wedding. Are you sure it’s okay?”

She climbed over me, kissed me soundly and wiggled her body against mine. “I am absolutely certain it’s okay. I’m so glad to have the wedding off my plate. I was really not looking forward to all of that drama and fuss. Now, I can focus on work and promoting my book.”

After that, I let her have her way with me. Life had just gotten a hell of a lot better. It felt like we were on the right path to a long and happy life together. All those dark days when I had resigned myself to living a miserable, empty, lonely life were a distant memory. I had Calla by my side and she wasn’t going anywhere.

  Chapter Three

  Calla

“I do,” I whispered, staring into the eyes of the man I had just vowed to love and cherish for all the days of my life.

The rest of the words were a blur. The civil ceremony—performed by a judge and witnessed by a secretary and a man we found on the street—was over.

“We’re married,” I said, disbelief in my voice as he pushed open the double doors.

“Yes, we are,” Jake said, with a huge smile on his face. “Now, we need to get our asses to the airport or we’re going to miss our flight.”

By the time we landed in Bora Bora, we were both exhausted. The flight had been too long, and we were tired, but also very horny. We had gone straight from the courthouse to the airport with no time for even so much as a quickie, and I’d been wanting my husband fiercely.

“As soon as we get to that bungalow, I am going to fuck you senseless,” he whispered in my ear as we waited for our car.

“We have to wait until t
hen?” I groaned.

He grinned. “I don’t think we want to get kicked out of the country for having sex in public.”

“It isn’t quite as frowned upon here as it is at home,” I said, hoping to encourage him.

He put a hand on my thigh. “We’ll be there soon.”

Leaning my head back, I closed my eyes. I knew I was missing the scenery, but I had a feeling I was going to need every minute of rest I could get.

Our bungalow was absolutely perfect. I made a mental note to get Holly a very special souvenir. She had done an amazing job with the arrangements.

“Wow,” Jake said, staring out the huge windows looking out over the sea. “I never imagined it would be this gorgeous. I am truly amazed.”

I walked over to stand beside him. “I told you. Let this be the first of many times you listen to me and trust me.”

He chuckled. “I trusted you, but I’m not big on vacations across the planet. I haven’t always had the best experiences in my travels.”

“I don’t plan on visiting warzones. I want to see the world and I want you by my side.”

“If you take me to places like this, I could be convinced to pack a bag whenever you asked.”

He wrapped an arm around me and hugged me close. We took in the view together for several long minutes. I shrieked when he bent down and scooped me up.

  “Jake!”

He grinned and carried me to the huge bed before gently placing me on the edge. “I didn’t get to carry you over the threshold, so this will have to do.”

I giggled at his chivalry. “You are such a romantic.”

“What I have in mind has nothing to do with romance,” he said, in a low growl, his eyes roaming over me.

His words made heat pool in my belly and I was desperate to have his touch. He slowly stripped off the t-shirt and shorts he was wearing, his eyes on mine the entire time. The man could always make me horny and seeing his huge body standing before me in nothing, but a pair of tight, black boxer briefs was nearly my undoing.

“My God, you are a gorgeous man,” I whispered.

He grinned. “You’re not so bad yourself. I love every curve, every inch of your body, but mostly—I love what’s inside,” he said, in a low, husky voice.

I climbed off the bed, needing to be near him and wanting the dress I was wearing off. I undid the buttons down the front, watching him as I did. When it dropped to the ground in a pool of fabric, I heard him growl low in his throat. I was wearing a sexy white, lacy piece of lingerie in celebration of our official wedding night.

“You’re going to kill me,” he muttered, before stepping forward to run his hands over the lace that stretched over my breasts, hiding nothing.

“Slowly, I hope,” I breathed out.

His hands roved over my body, caressing each curve before he dropped to his knees in front of me. His face was in direct line with my crotch. I could feel his hot breath washing over me and shivered in anticipation. One hand reached up and pulled at the panties, taking them down my legs. They fell to my ankles. He gently kissed my nether lips before rising to his feet and quickly taking off the matching bra.

“Naked, just the way I like you to be.”

I nodded, too excited to speak. He kissed me, then gently pushed me back down to the bed, my knees bent at the edge, my legs hanging over. I moaned as he dropped to his knees between my legs. His fingers ran over my calf and up the inside of my thigh before circling my pussy. The man was a master at what he did with his mouth.

“Jake,” I moaned, when he ran his tongue up my slit before using his fingers to spread my lips.

“Shh,” he whispered. “I’m going to feast on my bride.”

Hearing the word bride heightened the pleasure. His tongue was massaging my pussy with slow strokes. He pushed one finger inside me before pulling out and replacing his finger with his tongue. I arched my back, my hands fisting in the blanket covering the mattress. It was an exquisite torture and my body was soon shaking with need. He knew just where to touch and nibble to bring me the greatest pleasure.

“Your pussy tastes so sweet,” he whispered over my center, the words vibrating against the sensitive flesh.

One finger slid in while his teeth grabbed the sensitive kernel, sucking it gently. That was my undoing, and I bucked and thrashed on the bed as he pulled the orgasm from my body.

“Sweet, sweet pussy,” he murmured, kissing the inside of one thigh and then the other. “And it’s all mine. I’m going to fuck you until you’re screaming for mercy.”

He rose to his feet, still standing between my legs. I was gasping for air, still trying to come down from the high he had given me. His dick was in his hand, stroking it as he stared down at my naked body. I reached between my legs and rubbed my wet pussy.

“Do it, Calla. I want to see your fingers sliding inside you,” he said, in a guttural voice.

I pushed in one finger, loving the feel of my silky swollen folds. He reached out and slid his finger in while holding his engorged cock in his other hand. He stroked in and out of me with his finger as he slid his fisted hand up and down his length.

Reaching for his dick, I came off the bed. His hand was still gripping it tightly, so I used my tongue to lick the head. He jerked forward, still holding on tight. I licked around the tip before sliding my tongue down to where his hand held firm. I closed my mouth over his dick and slid my lips down to where his hand stopped me from taking him all the way in. He bounced his dick against my teeth and I very gently raked my teeth up his cock, before sliding back down.

There was a loud roar as he shoved me backwards onto the bed.

“I have to fuck you,” he shouted, bending his knees before thrusting into my body.

I cried out as his dick rammed into me with such force it slid my body across the bed. His hands snaked out and grabbed my hips, pulling my body up his hard thighs as he slammed into me over and over. The man was forceful as he pounded into me as if he couldn’t get deep enough.

“Jake!” I screamed his name, feeling an orgasm building.

The man was completely focused and didn’t seem to hear me. The only sound in the room was our bodies slapping together.

The orgasm crashed over me like a freight train, and I could feel my body exploding around his dick. I was helpless to do anything. He had me in a vice and was fucking me hard and deep.

He roared something incoherent before stepping back and flipping my body over. I didn’t get the chance to catch my breath before his hard cock was buried deep inside me once again. The angle tickled new nerves, creating a whole new wave of powerful sensations.

  “Don’t move,” he grunted.

I couldn’t move if I had wanted to. I was thoroughly impaled. My body was tingling and I could feel tiny spasms like mini-earthquakes rocking my body. The epicenter was my pussy where his dick was hard and throbbing.

  “Don’t move!” he growled.

I didn’t think I was moving, but it wasn’t long before that familiar sensation began to spiral up through my toes and spread like fire throughout my body.

My head rolled back and forth on the bed. A loud slap and instant stinging sensation on my backside pushed me over the edge. My hips raised off the bed, pushing him deeper inside.

“God dammit,” he roared, grabbing my hips again, his fingers pressing into the flesh as he pushed in to the hilt.

The man was hard as a rock and faster than a piston as he viciously pumped into me. I heard shouting in the distance and realized it was him. The roaring in my ears combined with the stars bursting in front of my eyes with each thrust into my body was disorientating.

He suddenly stopped moving and stilled inside me a split second before his roar cut through the quiet room. He lunged forward, his knees hitting the bed as his climax quite literally dropped him to his knees on top of me.

His heavy weight anchored me, bringing my body back down to earth. I had been spinning with sheer pleasure.

  “Oh my God,
” I whispered under his weight. “What was that?”

He grunted. “I don’t know. It was you. You make me fucking insane.”

I chuckled. “I’ll make you crazy any day of the week if you promise to do that to me again.”

He rolled to the side. “Your body. I can’t get enough of you. Some wild beast takes over whenever I taste or smell you. I want to drive into you so hard, it never feels like quite enough.”

I leaned up on my elbows and looked at him, staring up at the ceiling. “I don’t mind a bit.”

He stood up and walked to the small kitchen, popping the cork on a bottle of champagne that had been chilling in an ice bucket. I was supremely satisfied and ready for a long nap. I crawled up the bed and slid under the sheet.

“What do you have there?” I asked, as he carried the tray towards the bed.

“Strawberries and champagne. We are on our honeymoon,” he said, handing me one of the fluted glasses.

I took the champagne. My hands were still shaking from the wild sex and I accidentally spilled some on my chest. He leaned forward and licked it away. His lips against my heated flesh felt too good to be true.

He crawled into bed beside me. We sipped our champagne and fed each other strawberries before Jake got the idea that the champagne would taste better if he could lick it from my body. Things got very heated and very wet.

  Chapter Four

  Jake

Death by sex. I didn’t think it was truly possible, but I knew better now. I was clinging to life. My wife was insatiable. The woman couldn’t get enough. I had thought my addiction to sex with her was a little one-sided, but she had proven me very wrong. It had been a sex marathon, and each time I was convinced I wouldn’t be able to get it up, my body surprised me. I had risen to the occasion over and over. We had crawled into bed yesterday afternoon and hadn’t left.

I was starving and sore in places I didn’t know could be sore. My muscles felt weak from overuse, and I grinned thinking about how sore my wife was going to be when she woke up. I would happily massage away any stiffness in her legs, neck or any other part of her. My dick had been used and abused in the best way possible. Now, I needed sustenance—and sleep, but that would come later. We had an entire week to sleep.
