Vampire's Babe

  He showed me his back,they were full of red marks, “I am just their favorite time pass,they have heart but no mercy.He has still kept me breathing because of Ruth.You and your friends are alive because of her.If he wanted he would had killed you long ago with my mother but he didn’t.She will suffer..”he cried burying his face in his palms.

  “How am I suppose to find out who is he?.”

  He pondered for a while and slipped a book in my hand,it was some sought of age old diary. “Belonged to my mother,there are certain things which she was able to find but she wrote them in a different language if you take it....”before he could complete,his heart was stabbed,I could see a live root of the same tree doing the task,his one eye dropped and he struggled for his breath but it was not long,he was dead.

  I screamed clutching the book more securely in my hands.Several branches and roots emerged from the floor and the wall,trying to pierce my heart in the same fashion.I ran as fast as I could.One of the branches held my ankle and dragged me back to the same dead body,no sooner it had,other roots and branches covered my limbs,parting my legs and hands,pulling me up the wall,I could see the same bloody branch was coming for my heart,I was about to scream when a root wriggled inside my mouth stuffing my voice in.I was in a fix,witnessing my own death,how much I wished if Chris was here.

  He was there,his wand conjuring a spell which I had not heard before,there was blue fire and the entire branches and roots escaped back in their burrows,I was on the floor,my ankles and wrists were cut.He helped me fast,his eyes were more in pain,I could not help noticing them.

  I picked the book which he had given me,I did not want to leave his body like that and Chris understood that well so he did what I had never expected him to do,we watched the entire house being burnt down,there was nobody who was coming, it was a deserted place.This was the place where my family stayed and Ruth with me spent most of her time.It was my parents dream house.I don’t know,I shouldn't be so attached to it but somehow tears did escape my eyes.He lifted me in his arms and for the first time I saw how muscular he was,my small frame did shrink more in his hold.It was kind of a mixed feeling,I wanted to cry more and be happy at the same time.

  We were sitting behind a truck,in the empty space between the bottles that it carried.I saw him looking at me,he was not angry but sad,he tried to hold me again close to his chest,I was such an idiot,he knew things but maybe he was just keeping them away from me so that I would be safe.Wasn’t Kim’s uncle doing the same?.

  He took the tattered diary away from my hands and made me sit in his laps,his hands were quick and I was topless.My hands were behind my back while he kissed my open chest,it just became like a pain killer for me and him.We did not care where we were or was it day or night,all that he wanted was to distract me and keep me safe and I somewhere loved his idea,it did make me loose my senses,I was glad that he knew how to kill the voices inside my head.They were all way screaming for Ruth but I loved the way he knocked those thoughts out,it was not hard to feel him,I was new to the game of love making and he looked like a practiced guy,it was hard keeping up with him but I just didn’t care,as far as he was making it worst for me,I was happy,truly happy.It was not long enough that I started counting my blessings,I saw her again.Ruth was there with Ronaldo Sweeptuck.

  “Ronaldo please stop following me...”she tried,when he pinned her to a nearby tree.

  “Ruth look up,I said look in my eyes..”he threatened.

  “I don’t want to,you want me dead,its okay,I know,I’ll do it.I still have time don’t I?.”

  He laughed, “Such a sweet girl you are Ruth or should I say Miyana.”

  She was unwilling to look at him but he waited,her eyelashes lifted slowly,revealing a different color of her eyes,they were purple,sharp and shinning like any priceless jewel.

  “You want me dead,it will be done,please let me go.”she requested.

  “Finally you remember who you are.How long are you going to starve me?.”

  “You promised.”

  “I am free to break my promises.I want Miyana in my arms,I want my wife back.”he snarled.

  She held the books more close to her chest. “You promised me more five years,till Aagi is in her....”

  “I want to kill her.”

  “Please don’t hurt her,I’ll do whatever you want me to do but don’t hurt my sister.”

  “Sister,sister..”he laughed. “Her sister was dead,you took her place,she is just a witch and you are far more than she can ever imagine.”he shook her thoroughly.

  “Very soon the bell will ring,I don’t want the teachers or anybody to know,please,please let be for her,you killed...”

  “You forced me to,they came in our way,if you did not do such a foolish thing we would be happy like we always were.”

  She did not look at him and he tried hard to reason with her, “You were happy weren’t you?.”he asked,his eyes searching for the real answer.

  She nodded avoiding his sharp pierce.

  A tight blow sent her down on the ground.Her books were all over the place,she was terrified when his hands pulled her hastily to the open grounds of the school where there was a huge graveyard.

  “I don’t want to go there..please..let me go...”

  No matter how long she cried,he did not allow her to escape,he moved the slab of one of the graves and pulled her down with him.

  “Ronaldo...please let me go...I beg you...”

  “High time,I am so thirsty.Its been ages since you quenched my thirst.”

  Black creatures came crawling from the ground and ceiling.Each of them had a girl,most of them were unconscious.

  “Rejoice one and all, your queen comes today to quench my thirst and protect you from all the unknown.”

  She was in between the human bones and Ronaldo was just not himself,his eyes turned black,nothing close to human and his teeth were long and sharp,he held Ruth’s wrist and brushed his lips slowly against her skin moving up to her neck and then little lower to her open cleavage.

  She was scared to death while a strong wind blew right inside the place,all the candles were dead and a loud scream filled the air,I knew who this was,it was Ruth,she was bitten,did Ronaldo bit her,then why on earth did he marry her to Mr Bodwin?.

  “Miyana drink.”he said offering his cut palm,Ruth looked in pain,she was sitting near a tree,her hands were holding her chest,she was in immense pain.Her wet eyes watched him angrily and her mouth was completely dry,he smiled a devilish one,coming close to her body, “I don’t want you to starve either.Have one drop and be free from this weak body.”

  “I want to go home,please.”she requested,her hands were covered in blood,she tried in vain to stop the blood flowing from her skin.

  “How long are you going to starve,once you have tasted my blood,then we will be one forever.Nothing is going to separate us,I will see to it that you become mine.”He said lifting her up and taking her away.

  I could not take the pain anymore, my scream scared Chris and he pulled away immediately. “Aagi I am so sorry.”he tried.

  Little did he know that it was not him but Ruth who was in pain and the sole cause was Ronaldo,her boss,why didn’t it occur to me,Ronaldo was in her school after that she started working for him and he even proposed her for marriage didn’t he?,she refused and he should have been annoyed but he wasn’t,he was the only one guy who was happy at that wedding.

  “I need to find everything about Ronaldo Sweeptuck.”I said pushing Chris away.

  “What?.”

  “Now.”

  “Why?.”

  “I saw him biting Ruth.”

  “You know the others are waiting for us at the junction.”

  I did my calculations,alone I could not find everything on my own,besides I had a diary in my hand which only Jill could read.

  “How long will it take to be there.”

  “Another hour.”

  “Fine.”I sighed,waiting and fully dressed.Chris helped me a lot,though his hands were
still brushing my curves.

  “Will she ever be out of your head?.”

  “No.”

  “Why?.He loves her,he will...”

  “Honestly you call that love,he is sick to the core.He forced my sister,he made her look like a fool in front of everybody,god knows what he is capable of doing.Do you have the slightest idea of what are you speaking?.”

  “I know what I am speaking Aagi,But do you know anything about him or why is he like that,its because of your sister,she is the one who is responsible for his savage attitude.She screwed...”

  “Don’t blame her,I don’t believe a single word you deliver.How do you know all these things anyway?”

  He tried to avoid me but not for long,rolling his eyes he answered,“from the Stories of Baltia.”

  Mysterious Call

  “What took you so long?.”asked Jill for the first time she looked so concerned,like my old Jill.

  “Nothing,I just paid a visit to my cousin.”I said handing her the tattered diary.

  “Another book.”groaned Roy.

  “This is the third book,how are we suppose to do it?.”cried Troy.Was there something that I was missing,Chris did tell me didn’t he,about the stories of Baltia,where did he learn that from?.Now I was mad,I wanted answers,I wanted to know everything that was brewing in this circle.Jill understood me pretty quick and she was fast with her words,it was very difficult to keep up with her, “The day I was attacked I seen Ruth in the mirror,Ronaldo was in front of her and she begged him to spare my life,Ronaldo manipulated Roy’s thinking,he made him think ill of me and used him as a puppet,due to his lack of trust in me he got the best of him,it was easy for me to see his plan,he wanted to kill me ‘cause I was determined to find clues,the book,remember the one which took us to the vampire’s lair,that’s the first clue,it has led us to the second book which we are about to find,Chris said he had seen the same in this library which we are about to visit.The stories of Baltia is just an addition to our list,we need to find how exactly is Ruth connected with Miyana,the queen of Baltia.”She waited for me to digest the news,I was not at all ready to face her,did I owe an apology to her or was I..

  “Its alright,we are witches we fail to see the good at times,our dark side is still an untamed animal.You bought a clue.”she was seriously examining the diary that I gave her.

  “Belonged to my aunt,she died ‘cause of him and he blamed Ruth for her death,alienating everyone she knew.”

  Jill packed the thing back in her purse,Sipper smiled,I knew that everything was crystal clear, “No secrets?.” I laughed freely.

  “None.”she beamed.

  “Why did you do this in first place?.”I demanded,unable to hide my anger,it still washed over,a little.

  “Kim’s uncle told us not to tell you.”she smiled uneasily.

  “Why would he do that?.”I was more baffled.

  “He is connected with Ruth,he can hear every thought of her,you can see within Ruth,that means you have access to her,sister bond,well we all four have,think its been a long time we stayed together...”

  Kim did cut her politely, “Loved one another is the right explanation.”

  “Yes” agreed Jill.

  “Loved.”Sipper corrected herself, “He can have access to our mind too,god knows what he will make us do.You know he connected with Roy through Jill,the doctor said didn’t he?,and I think it does affects Ruth and her health if something happens to us,I just have a hunch.”

  This news definitely threw me back to reality,I was terrified to my core,unable to think or reason,to know the truth was becoming very important.

  “Why are we waiting here?.”

  “Well,Rocky and Roy are just gone to get the tickets.”

  “Where are we actually going?.”

  “Its a hidden zone,Chris gave me inputs on the same,it belongs to mixbreeds,there is a library there,we need to find that book.”she was so serious,for the first time ever I seen her so sober,it looked like she did forget how to laugh at a problem,Jill never feared problems,problems were scared of her,then why this time she was not herself,she looked like an ordinary witch fearing failure.

  “Failure is a new thing,it teaches you the most important lesson of life.”she added smiling softly.

  “Whats that?.”asked Kim,Sipper and I were eager to hear the answer,something told me that Chris already knew the answer to the same.

  “Get up,brush that dust and start walking,its a long journey.”Jill answered.

  “Surely it was a long journey there was no way I am giving up,not now,my sister wouldn’t give up on us,she was not that soul,I want her back and somewhere I know she is not married to a healthy soul.”

  Chris sighed,it was easy enough for him to read my thoughts,I couldn’t ignore the same dead look in his eyes,warning and now truly giving up,there was no way he was able to hold all four of us back,he was the only one who actually pointed at Ruth to bring the worst in him,Ronaldo,when were we going to check on him.

  Kim smiled and she answered without any delay, “My uncle is already digging his grave.”She could be so cold at times,her eyes were so deadly,the malice in her sweet tongue did not bother me anymore.Troy kept his distance,if his girl was in he was in just like Chris and the others.I could clearly see the love in his eyes for Kim,his eyes were so calm,like everything could come to a standstill,if he just hinted.

  Roy pulled Jill in his arms,the kiss on her lips was so passionate,it did make her smile widely,I could see Jill’s dead spirit bouncing back.Sipper was happy with Rocky,they were just like kids in a way,she kissed him on his nose and he twisted his eyeballs to make her laugh.Troy still kept his distance and so did Chris,protecting ferociously no doubt but at the same time providing space.

  “Where are the tickets?.”asked Jill.

  “Hey,I have better plans,met this fellow on my way,he said he could drop us,we are flying, no stupid tunnels and trains.”he informed.

  “He will be here within few minutes.”smiled Rocky holding Sipper very close to his body and continuously brushing her arm,she smiled and added softly, “Relax,its going to be okay,we are going to be together no matter what.”Rocky just smiled,his tense face was soft and beaming at her.Something told me that Troy loved our company,strange,I was still thinking about him.Chris did block my vision,he was right in front of me,I could no longer see Troy,he was over my lips and making it very clear,there was no looking back,I was meant for him and he was meant for me,I had to say good-bye to my could-be-boyfriend.

  I laughed shortly,he was so possessive,it felt good,he was nothing close to Troy,his complete opposite but I loved him,Troy had his charming smile and Chris wore a deadly look,Troy was clean shaved and Chris was getting beard,his soft brown eyes were still locked in mine,why didn’t I meet him before? why?.

  He could have been my first love and last one too.

  “Love is when two people share the same feelings,its different from infatuation.”he added slowly,making me aware that what I held for Troy was nothing more than infatuation.

  I smiled,there was no way I was not agreeing with him, only it would take some time to settle around Troy like a normal girl,I don’t know why it was but it was still there,Jill did notice,Sipper I’m afraid had a clue to the same but not Kim,she never noticed my affections for him,he too did not seem to talk much with me,somewhere I was glad that he did not talk to me much.

  Chris was holding me in his arms and I was willing to cry,Ruth did come back to me,her laughter and smile,the cold kiss that I received every night,how her locket used to just brush my eyelids and lips,the way she used to work and we showed her our clothes,she used to not turn to us but say yes to every dress we picked,once Kim really got annoyed and she picked a pencil box,mocking How does this dress look?,Ruth answered perfect,just try it.We should had been annoyed with her but Sipper laughed and there was no way we could hold our laughter too,Ruth realized it late,she did close that laptop and paid attention to our attire,it was not the first mistake but definitely the
last one,well that’s what she made us believe,I guess we were easy enough to fool.

  “How long is he going to take?.”asked Sipper dancing on her feet, “I don’t know.”

  Chris looked at Roy and he shrugged, “should be here any minute,that’s what he told us.”

  A car in blue did come and stop by our side.It just had two extra seats back.

  “Is this the car?.”Jill looked mad and her feet was already tapping,hands crossed over her chest and Roy for the first time seen her like this,he just couldn’t make out what was she trying to say, “She is annoyed,you booked a small car.”barked Chris,nodding his head in disgust,he truly had a simple friend.I smiled adding politely “Well Jill is Jill,she can be an open book but at the same time an unsolved puzzle if you try her wrong way.”Kim tried to hide her grin and Sipper talked continuously to Rocky,he was not understanding at all what Sipper was saying but he tried to keep up with her rubbish.

  “Hoora..get in we are getting late,Mr I have other things lined up to.”said a man coming half out of the car window.

  “Wow.”backed Troy,he actually got a little scared,the man behind the wheels was very different,he looked like a bandit or you can say he was actually inspired by captain of bandits, “How do we fit in?.”shouted Jill.

  He looked perplexed, Chris added quickly, “we are eight.”

  “So?.”he was confused.

  “Your car is small,I’m afraid only three people can fit in.”

  “Just get in.”he requested and I pulled Chris along with me,pushing him first.I sat next.The seat was pushed back and another seat emerged from the base of the car.I was speechless,Sipper sat with Rocky and the same thing happened again,Jill was next with Roy and Troy followed Kim, “Everybody seated.”called he,I had to say yes with the rest,Jill laughed and I could see Roy easing a bit.

  “Why you girls have so bad temper?.”asked Troy,stretching his legs as far as he could,Kim’s answer was instant, “So that you fear us and nothing else in the world.”he laughed and I could see Chris just mutely agreeing with her, there was only one guy who agreed loudly and he was driving, “Hell yes,I only fear my wife and nothing else.”
