Indestructible Desire

Completely spent we make our way over to my queen size bed, and collapse onto it. Rolling onto his side Kayden lies beside me with his arm draped over my stomach. The only sound you hear is our erratic breathing, as our body’s try to float back down to earth.

Our peaceful tranquility is short lived when I hear Brooklyn’s ringtone, hell on heels blasting from my clutch at the bottom of the stairs. “I better go grab that, she’s probably drunk dialing me with Reagan and Rebecca.” Climbing off of the bed, I grab a silk robe from the closet and wrap it around myself. Glancing back at Kayden still laying on my bed, I blow him a sweet kiss, “I’ll be right back love.”
Bouncing down the stairs, I flick on the foyer lights, instantly brightening the crystal chandelier hanging above the center of the room. Squinting, as my eyes adjust to the now illuminating foyer, I crouch down to the floor to find my clutch. Moving my dress, I discover my purse underneath it. The music stops as I dig my phone out, but then starts right back up again before I even have a chance to check for a voice mail.
Rolling my eyes, I stare down at the screen and see Brooklyn waving the peace sign at me on the beach in the Bahamas‘. Smiling, I answer the phone. “You’re persistent when you’re drunk, you know that?” I laugh. Making my way back up the stairs to my bedroom.
My feet freeze mid step, when I hear Brooklyn crying on the other end of the phone. “Savannah…you need to come down to the LAPD right now!” Brooklyn chokes out between sobs.
“The police station? What’s going on?” My hands are shaking with such force I can barley hold the phone. Gripping the railing, I slowly make my way upstairs to Kayden.
Sniffling, Brooklyn is gasping for air from her violent cries. “Zak…attacked me.” I feel like I’m going to be sick as I hear those words come out of Brooklyn’s mouth. My stomach is churning, feeling as if I’m stuck on a boat in choppy waters.
Covering my mouth with my hand, I try to hold back my sobs. I have a million things running through my head right now. I try to speak, but my voice won’t work. My throat instantly goes dry, as the saliva begins to build in my mouth. I can feel the acid rising from my chest into my esophagus, as it threatens to come up.
Running up the stairs I burst into my bedroom, startling Kayden who had passed out on my bed. I can hear Brooklyn talking to me, but I can’t process anything she’s saying.
“Savannah! Are you still there?!” Brooklyn shouts at me with panic in her voice. Dropping to my knees in the bathroom, I drop my phone to the floor, and lean over the toilet just in time. Throwing up violently, I can feel my blood vessels popping in my face, my eyes are watering, and my throat feels as if it’s on fire. I welcome the pain, it helps distract my brain from the words Brooklyn just said to me.
“Oh my God, Savannah, what’s the matter?” Kayden asks crouching down beside me and reaching for my phone. I can hear the confusion in his voice; our amazing evening just took a swift turn for the worst. I can feel it in every fiber of my body.
Trying to speak, all I can get out is “Zak!” Before I begin dry heaving the remainder of the alcohol that was in my stomach into the toilet.
Rubbing my back, Kayden starts talking to Brooklyn who is a complete mess on the other line. Kayden’s telling her to calm down, and take deep breaths. Sitting on my knees, I lean up away from the toilet, and wipe away the tears from my face. My throat and eyes are throbbing, reaching for the hand towel by the sink I wipe my face, and stand to rinse my mouth.
I feel like I’m trapped in a never ending nightmare, that no matter how hard I try, I’ll never wake up from.
“Savannah, you need to get dressed right now. We need to get down to the police station.”
Nodding my head, I take his hand and follow him into my closet. Grabbing a pair of jeans, a long sleeve Hollister tee, and pink Chuck Taylors. We race to the garage not bothering to wake Alec. Jumping into my fathers black Silverado, pulling out of the garage, Kayden slides it into drive, and burns the tires off speeding down their winding driveway.
The entire drive to the station is a blur. Laying my head against the cool glass, I watch the lights flash by us. “Brooklyn’s okay Savannah…and Zak’s in custody. Things are going to be okay baby.” Taking my hand, Kayden pulls it up to his lips, gently kissing my knuckles.
Knowing Brooklyn’s okay, is a relief, but the guilt of knowing she was attacked because of me is too much to handle right now. I now understand how Kayden felt, when he saw me laying in the hospital. Thinking if he did something, anything that I wouldn’t have gone through what I did.
Understanding I need space, and time to process that my nightmare is finally coming to an end. We ride in complete silence the remainder of the drive. Zak is now in police custody, I can breathe for the first time in weeks. I can’t help but think what if he had seriously hurt Brooklyn? Or even worst killed her, as punishment to me for killing Jacob.
The thoughts of it all completely shatter me as we make our way into the LAPD station. As soon as my eyes fall onto Brooklyn, I lose it. Tears are streaming down my face, making it hard to see. She’s sitting in a chair beside a desk, her brown and blue rhinestone one shoulder dress is ripped, and her blue suede Louboutin’s are lying on the floor beside her chair. Her legs and arms are covered in scratches, and she has butterfly stitches across her forehead.
Running to her I drop to my knees in front of her, wrapping my arms around Brooklyn’s waste, our cries blending together as one. “I’m so sorry.” I whisper to her as I stare into her eyes, hating the sadness that’s clouding her usually brighter than life big brown eyes.
“What are you sorry for?” She looks at me with a puzzled look. Her cheeks and eyes are red and puffy from all the crying she’s done. “This is not your fault; you can’t blame yourself for some fuckin’ psycho’s choices.”
Standing back up, I gladly accept Kayden’s embrace. He’s talking to the police getting all the details of what occurred this evening. I’m in shock as I listen to what happened.
I take Brooklyn’s hand, and listen as the cop explains to us the statement Brooklyn gave them. After leaving the club, Reagan and Rebecca had a cab bring them home. She and Jerome walked into the parking garage. When they got to the town car, Brooklyn said her ears began ringing from a loud gun shot firing off. She said it was so loud, that it was almost deafening as it echoed across the cement parking garage.
Zak had fired a shot at Jerome, but thankfully he was wearing a bullet proof vest. The shot knocked him to the ground, and panic stricken, Brooklyn dropped to the ground and crawled under the car. She said it felt like an eternity for Zak to walk up to the car. Jerome was climbing to his feet, but before he could stop him, Zak hit Jerome in the head with his gun. Knocked unconscious on the ground, Brooklyn said the sound of Zak’s feet walking along the car was terrifying.
I feel my knees go weak as the police offer continues. “Here baby sit down.” Kayden tells me, as we make our way to a chair beside Brooklyn. Squeezing her hand I stare blankly at the officer as he continues.
Crouching down beside the car, they locked eyes, and before she could react he fisted her hair, pulling her out from under the car. Zak landed a strong blow to her head, stunning her momentarily. But Brooklyn mentioned you both take Kickboxing classes, where she learned self defense. Everything she learned quickly came to her in that flight or fight moment.
Knowing this, I’m sure saved her life. She was able to kick the gun from his hand. While she was fighting him off, Jerome had awoken, and dialed 911, alerting us where they were. Pulling out his gun, Jerome shot Zak in the leg, wounding him. Retaining him in the trunk, Zak was held there until the ambulance and police arrived.
Zak is now in the ER having surgery to remove the bullet, then he‘ll be transported to Houston. Jerome is also there being observed over night. He sustained a concussion, and a few broken ribs from the close range shot to his vest.
I ca
n’t believe Brooklyn fought him off! “Wow, I can’t believe you did that. I don’t even want to think about what would’ve happened if you weren’t able to get that gun away from him.” I can’t help but be in awe of her right now.
Standing and sliding her heels back on, Brooklyn, takes my hands and pulls me to my feet. “I gave him the ass kicking he deserved. I wish Jerome would have aimed a few more inches over, and really wounded the bastard.” She says, as she hugs me one more time.
“Well you’re definitely a bad ass in my book Brooklyn.” I can hear the relief in Kayden’s voice as he’s talking to Brooklyn. He along with both of us feels like a weight has been lifted off of our shoulders. “Now that he’s been caught, we can finally move on with our lives.”
Walking down the step to the car, Brooklyn stops on the bottom step. Turning Kayden and I stare at her wondering what she’s doing. We notice her eyes glossing over, as fresh tears stream down her face. Turning to see where her eyes are pointing, we notice Jax standing there beside our car.
“Hey mate, I got a call for Jerome. He said he was in the hospital, and that Brooklyn had a pretty rough night.” I’m in total shock right now; Jax flew here from Houston, to see her. If that isn’t romantic I don’t know what is.
Not wasting a second, Brooklyn sprints down the stairs, straight into Jax’s arms. “I can’t believe you came here for me.” Holding her tightly against him, Jax kisses her temple sweetly.
Walking to the car, Kayden stops beside Jax, and Brooklyn. “Brooklyn’s a beast! She whooped Zak’s ass hard core. Remind me to never piss her off, because I think she’d kick my ass.”

Sitting on the plane looking down at Hawaii below us, I’m bouncing with excitement. This past week has been a whirlwind of emotions. Knowing I’m finally safe, and don’t need to worry about Zak is a relief. Every day is still a struggle, but I’m slowly getting stronger every day. Kayden seems a lot better since Zak was arrested, but still seems distracted like he’s with me but not? It’s hard to explain, but I feel if I love him with all I have we’ll make it through anything.
“Sooooo, birthday girl! What do you think Knox has up his sleeve for your birthday?” Brooklyn asks plopping down in the seat beside me. The pilot’s voice interrupts me before I can speak, advising us to buckle up because we’re going to landing.
“I have no clue. He’s kept me in the dark about everything.” I laugh. “It’s driving me crazy! I know Kayden loves going all out, so I won’t be surprised if he goes over the top for my party. All I care about is seeing my mom and dad, and Reagan and Rebecca. We have a lot of celebrating to do! One being you miss thing! You’re in a committed relationship, that’s definitely something to celebrate!”
Blushing ten shades of red, Brooklyn slaps my leg. “Hey now, we’re taking baby steps. We’re not official, but we’re not seeing anyone else either. I text Xander the day after everything with Zak. I told him I want to see where things can go with Jax. But still want to remain friends, and definitely want to attend their concert when they’re in the area.”
She hasn’t spoken to Dixon since the Bahamas’, his text her after Kayden told him what happen in LA with Zak. But she ignored it and never responded, which shocked the hell out of me. I know how hard she was crushing on Dixon, so was dumb founded when she blew him off. I can’t say it doesn’t make me happy, because Dixon just screams trouble. He doesn’t show any desire of settling down. Plus I’m looking forward to lots of double dates with her and Jax.
“So Kayden’s meeting us at the hotel?” Brooklyn asks as she stares across me and out the window at Maui below us. The plane is slowly descending towards the landing strip.
“Yeah, he said he was boarding the plane in Paris this morning, and would be in Maui by this evening. My parents I believe will be here first thing tomorrow morning, and Reagan and Rebecca too. So today is just Brooklyn and Savannah day! Let’s try not to get into to much trouble, okay?”
“I’ll try, but can’t make any promises.” Raising an eyebrow at me, I can’t help but smile at the mischievous grin on Brooklyn’s face.
“I mean it! My idea of a memorable birthday, is not sitting in the drunk tank beside you!”

Kayden
These last three days being in Paris have been hectic to say the least. I’ve been postponing this trip for weeks. Now that I know Zak is behind bars, I finally squeezed in time to fly to France. We’re re doing the entire spa at the Knox Spa and Resort in Paris, and I had to check on construction. Make sure everything on schedule, and still under budget.
Dixon came out with me, to help over see all the changes going on since he owns a construction business, he knows more about all of this than I do. Which made it a lot less stressful for me. He got pissed when I wouldn’t go out with him to a strip club the first night. Immediately causing him to rag on me, tellin’ me Savannah has me pussy whipped.
Since meeting Savannah, I could care less about watching some chick dance on a pole for tips. If that makes me pussy whipped so be it. He only ended up staying one day, then had to get back to Houston to make sure things are running smoothly with my absence from Beaumont Industries.
I was shocked to see Giselle at the hotel bar last night. Her father manages the hotel in Paris, so she goes back and forth between Paris, LA, New York, and Houston for her Modeling jobs. Last I new she was suppose to be flying to Milan for a fashion show, but low and behold she’s was here. And she wasn’t alone; she had another model friend with her, who she claimed was a huge fan of mine. She rambled on and on for what felt like forever, about how much she loved my youtube videos, and the movies I’ve guest starred in.
I was never so happy to excuse myself to my room. After a few fan pictures with her, I happily went to my room and crashed. I new I’d be getting up early to fly to Hawaii today.
Reaching into my pocket I pull out the black velvet box I picked up in New York, this morning when my flight landed. Flying first class, isn’t as nice as a private jet. I hate the lay over’s. Popping the box open, it instantly begins to sparkle in the light shining into my window seat.
I’ve been a ball of nerves for weeks since I asked Maverick for permission to propose to Savannah. I hope she doesn’t think it’s too soon, and turns me down flat. I know deep down she’s the only woman I want to be with for the rest of my life.
The old man beside me lets out a whistle as he eyes the three carat diamond infinity ring. “She’s definitely going to say yes when she see’s that.” He says with a thick New York accent.
“You think so? I’m so nervous, I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold the ring when I propose! I’ll probable end up droppin’ the dang thing in the sand.” I can’t wait to propose to her on the beach beside the ocean. Brooklyn told me that Savannah has dreamt of her proposal since she was like eight. She always said she wanted her future husband to ask her at sunset on the beach.
Breaking me from my through that old man nudges me with his elbow, “If she loves you, as much as I can see you love her. I think she’d say yes if you asked her to marry you with a gum ball machine ring.”
I can’t help but laugh at his remark. I can just picture me on one knee, holding out a fifty cent plastic ring. Savannah would probably cherish it as much as she would and million dollar diamond ring. That’s just how she is, a ray of light who cherishes the small gestures in life.
“I think so too. Here’s to me gettin’ engaged to the woman of my dreams.” Raising my bottle of water in the air, I flash the old man a big smile, and drink to my future wife.

Savannah
Tipping the bell hop boy, he leaves our bags in our suite. “Damn, this place is huge!” Brooklyn says walking around the two story penthouse suite Kayden booked for the weekend. Swinging open the French doors, we step out onto the balcony.
Looking down at the beach, there are people surfing, which immediately gives m
e an idea. “B, I know exactly what we’re doing right now!”
“Oh gawd, what wild idea just popped into that pretty little head of yours Savannah Elizabeth.”
Digging in my suitcase, I pull out my bikini, and flip flops. “Grab your swim suit bestie, because we’re going surfing!”
It’s been almost a year since I got on a surfboard, and I can hear the ocean beckoning me to come to it. Quickly changing, we make our way down to the beach. After walking a few feet down the beach, we find a surf shop. Whipping out my debit card, I rent us each a surfboard.
“I suck at surfing Savannah; I swear to god if I drowned and need mouth to mouth resuscitation I’m going to kick your ass. Unless it’s a hot life guard, then I’ll let it pass.” Winking at me, Brooklyn takes off ahead of me, leaving me speechless. I swear, I’ll never get use to the shit that comes outta that girl’s mouth.
The beach is packed with people, and the water is full of surfers. Looking around I find a spot free of people, and wave Brooklyn to follow. Walking into the water, I lie on my board, and paddle out towards the massive waves. The adrenalin coursing through my body right now, feels absolutely amazing. Riding a wave gives me the biggest high. Just knowing the power it holds, but being able to dominate it, it’s the best feeling ever.
