“Don’t hide, it was sexy. What were you dreaming about?”

East rubbed her eyes before sitting up in bed and smiling at him mischievously. “You.”

Killian blushed while shaking his head from side to side. “Yo lying ass. Don’t lie to me because you got caught out.”

“I’m for real. We were in the middle of the mall getting to it. You were choking me and everything.” East hurried to cover her face with her hands. “You were about to nut right when I woke up.” She sighed. “I wish I could have woke up after that.”

“Why?” Killian walked over and took a seat on the bottom of the bed.

“I love watching you do that. It’s my favorite part.”

Another bashful smile came. A powerful euphoria spread over East every time she made Killian bust. She’d do it a million times a day if she could.

“It ain’t shit.” He playfully pushed her face, and East caught his hand.

His pointer finger disappeared into her mouth. She shut him up soon after she began sucking on it. His eyes squinted at her as he stretched one leg out in front of him.

“Get your stankin’ ass mouth off my finger, girl. Ain’t even brushed your teeth yet but in here trying to start some shit.”

Giddy laughter erupted from her throat as she fell back on the bed and covered her head with the blanket. Killian was tickling her and pulling the covers away at the same time. East did her best to keep her face hidden, but he was stronger, and she wanted to see him.

  “I hate you.”

“Yeah, I hate your ass too most of the time. Get up.”

  “Where we going?”

“Didn’t I just tell you I was taking you to get food?”

East nodded and stretched. It took her another few minutes to pull herself from the bed and to her feet. Once she was on her feet, she stretched some more, making her short gown rise higher. Killian grabbed the bottom of her gown and pulled her between his legs.

“I don’t like you wearing all this li’l stuff while you over here.”

East looked down at her exposed thighs. “I wear pants until I’m about to get in the bed. I don’t walk around like this.”

  “You shouldn’t.”

“I’m really just ready to move. I’m tired of being here.”

Killian kissed the center of her chest. “Come stay with me. You know that is what married people do, right?”

East turned her nose up. “I’m not about to live with you, Gabrion, and all of his one night stands. I found my own place, I just need a co-signer or an income.”

“Where it’s at? And, can’t you list the middle school even though you haven’t started there yet?”

“I tried, but they won’t. I have to have some form of new hire paperwork or something for verification, and those slow ass people still haven’t called me back yet. I’ve moved all the way down here, and every time I try to get in touch with them, it’s some mess. I’m starting to think they’re changing their mind about hiring me.”

Killian listened to her and nodded his understanding. East tapped his shoulders a few moments longer before excusing herself to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. It wasn’t long before she walked back into her room to get dressed.

“How about I co-sign on your spot for you, and you come train at the gym until you get your paperwork. That way, you’ll have the necessary income.”

  “No and no.”

“Damn, what?” Killian leaned over and raised the bottom of her gown. She smacked his hand. “I can’t look at your panties?”

East laughed. “I didn’t know what you were doing.”

“I was trying to see your li’l ass, but if you want to act funny, then fuck you and them small ass panties.”

East continued laughing at him while she got dressed. She appreciated his offers, but she had no interest in depending on another man for her wellbeing. She’d just about done that with Jesse, and the moment she wanted to leave, everything got ten times harder for her.

“I’m serious, though. I’ll help you out if you need me to. It’s nothing.” Killian was on the edge of the bed watching her pull her jeans up over her legs. “Put your ring on.”

The shiny ring was resting in the small box on the dresser near her earrings and the rest of her jewelry. It was massive and gleaming from every angle. East marveled at it as she brushed her hair into a ponytail. The curls from the days prior were still in her tresses and made for a cute little messy style.

  “I’m about to.”

Killian nodded and pulled his ringing phone from his pocket. East tried to catch sight of the name on the screen but was unable to. He’d put it to his ear so fast that she’d missed it all.

“What’s up?” he answered casually. “Nah, I wasn’t coming in until after lunchtime today. Can’t one of y’all handle it?”

East finished getting dressed while he spoke on the phone. When she was finally ready, they gathered their things and left. Killian remained on the phone, going back and forth with whoever he was talking to, for another few minutes before ending the call.

“I need to run by my gym for a minute.”

  “That’s fine.”

The drive there wasn’t a long one, and East inwardly hoped his visit would be even shorter. She was hungry, and her stomach was on the verge of making all kinds of loud noises.

“You staying in the car?” He looked at her as he turned off the engine.

  “I planned to.”

Killian shook his head. “Nah, get out. I’m not sure how long this is going to take, and I don’t want you just sitting out here.”

There went her hopes of getting out of there fast. East was out of the car and on her way inside with Killian minutes later. The gym was in full swing, and the atmosphere was hype as usual. Loud music played from every corner of the building, while an array of people moved around doing various exercises. Killian walked straight to the front desk where Logan, one of his male trainers, and another man was standing.

It was obvious the man was in some sort of uproar because he was yelling and cursing at poor Logan like he was ready to fight. The only thing that probably kept him on the opposite side of the counter was the large man standing next to her. His royal blue Knockout shirt stretched across his chest while the muscles in his arms bulged uncontrollably.

He wasn’t saying anything, but the way he stood behind Logan was an obvious display of his protective standpoint. Initially, East had planned to allow Killian to manage his own problems, but the moment he walked up, the man’s hands began moving a little too much for her liking. She could understand anger, but she didn’t like how close he was to her man with all that hand motion. To ease herself, and to have her baby’s back, she walked right up to where they were and stopped next to Killian.

He looked down at her before pushing her toward the other side of the counter. “Stand over there.”

East wanted to disobey him, but she went anyway. Here she was trying to protect him, and he was trying to protect her. Love. She shook her head and leaned over the counter, so she could focus.

“I’m going to ask y’all muthafuckas one more time. Where is the fucking owner of this damn gym?” the middle-aged man with the Rick Ross beard bellowed.

Not small in stature at all, he could probably swing on Killian and knock him straight to the ground if Killian wasn’t ready. Luckily, East was there, and that wouldn’t happen.

“Sir, I have asked you continuously to state your issue, and I’ll be glad to help you. But, if you want to keep up this tirade, we’re going to have you escorted from the premises.” Logan’s voice wasn’t its normal chipper tone, but she was still very polite.

“And I told your ass I ain’t going nowhere until I speak with the owner.”

“What’s your name, sir?” Killian asked.

“None of your damn business unless you’re the owner.”

Killian nodded before looking over the counter at Logan. “How long has he been causing a
disturbance?”

“About twenty minutes,” the male trainer spoke.

“I’m going to keep causing a fucking disturbance if y’all don’t hurry up and tell the bitch ass owner of this gym to bring his ass to the desk.”

“I’m the owner,” East stated loudly.

She’d been doing her best to be quiet and let Killian and his team handle their situation professionally, but clearly, that man wanted to be disrespectful, and there was no one more disrespectful than East.

Killian and Logan’s eyes shifted to her. East ignored them both and focused on the man.

“What can I help you with?”

Now that the man was looking at her, he’d somewhat calmed down. The look on his face was of pure confusion as he adamantly shook his head.

  “No, the fuck you ain’t.”

  “I am.”

Killian tapped her hand. “Chill, I got it, sweetheart.”

The man disregarded Killian’s comment to East and kept his eyes on her. “That can’t be right.” He looked around at all of them before going back to East and pointing his finger in her face. “You’re lying.”

“This is my gym, sir. Now, either tell me how I can help you or get the fuck out.”

East could have died and gone to Heaven when he had the nerve to look as if her cursing had offended him, and he’d been damn near cursing the whole gym out moments prior.

“So, you know my wife, Jaya?”

The subtle, shifty movements that came from Killian and Logan wasn’t missed, but East kept her cool. Clearly, Jaya had some sort of relevancy in the gym, she just didn’t know what. Her name sounded familiar, but East couldn’t place it right then. Oh, how she wished she could because if it had anything to do with Killian, that situation was about to get ten times worse. Her and Jaya’s husband would both be beating his ass.

  “Yes, I know her.”

He scoffed. “So, I’ve been told,” he grumbled before chuckling to himself and taking a step back, only to return to where he’d been standing all along. “When she told me that she’d been fucking the owner of this gotdamn gym, I was sure it was another nigga because that’s the way she is. She’s a fucking hoe who doesn’t know how to sit her ass down, but you,” he smiled devilishly, “I never would have guessed she’d gotten so wild she’d fuck a woman.”

East was floored. She was going to fucking kill Killian. With steam blowing from her ears, East cleared her throat, preparing to speak, but was cut off by Killian.

“She ain’t the owner you’re looking for, and your wife isn’t fucking her.” Killian nodded his head in East’s direction. “That’s my wife, so she is one of the owners of this gym, but,” Killian patted his chest coolly with a sly smirk on his face, “I believe I’m the owner you’re looking for.”

The man’s anger returned with a vengeance as he stared at Killian. “It’s you!”

“It’s me,” Killian told him with a comical smirk on his face.

East was taken aback on so many levels, but she’d have to address her situation later. Not only was she not sure how long ago Killian and the girl, Jaya’s, sex had taken place, but right then wasn’t the time. She was mad, but she would still bust Jaya’s husband in the head with the stapler in front of her if he tried some mess with Killian.

“How long have you been fucking my wife?”

“Sir, I haven’t been fucking your wife.” He chuckled. “I busted her down once, and that was it. You need to holla at her about whatever else you have a problem with.” East’s chest dropped when Killian stepped closer to the man so that he was in his face. “Get your ass out of my gym and check your bitch. I’m all about my business, but I will beat your ass, homeboy. Don’t play yourself.”

The man’s face was distorted in anger as he raised his arm to swing. The moment he did, Killian sidestepped and punched him in the side of the head on his way past him. Of course, he was right back up, trying to swing and cause a ruckus, but by the time Killian, the trainer who had been behind the counter, and two other men in trainer shirts got done with him, he was outside of the gym on his butt.

He continued his rant outside the glass doors for another few minutes before he found his way back to his truck and left. Killian and all of his trainers stood near the door conversing while East stood in the same spot next to Logan.

“Who is Jaya?” East looked over at Logan.

Logan exhaled and picked up the stack of papers in front of her. “She works here. She’s a trainer.”

East could tell that Logan was apprehensive about telling Killian’s business, which was commendable, but right then, East needed answers, and she wasn’t going for that loyalty shit that Logan was trying to pull.

“Where she at? She’s here today?”

Logan nodded but didn’t say anything else.

  “Listen, Logan…”

“East, please. Killian is not only my boss, but he’s my friend. I like you, I really, really do, but please don’t make me tell you anything that doesn’t concern me. I was never privy to anything he and her may have had going on, and I’m thanking God for that in my head right now.” Logan touched East’s shoulder. “For what it’s worth, it was probably before he met you. He’s always to himself, but he’s been extra reclusive for the past few months. I think it’s because of you.” Logan winked and walked away.

East wanted to frown at her and that huge butt she had stuffed into the tight, black leggings, but it wasn’t her fault. Logan was sweet as pie and had been since East had met her. She wouldn’t penalize her for being real. That was so rare that East was actually happy Killian had somebody like her around him and his business. She’d be sure to thank her for that another day, but right then, she needed to know more.

She hated him for standing with his hands in his pockets talking as if he didn’t have a care in the world while she was mentally torturing herself. When he finally looked over at her, he winked, but she rolled her eyes. She could tell by the way his forehead wrinkled from his frown that he didn’t see the situation in the same light as she did. East was just about to walk toward him and make him explain to her what was going on, but he’d just answered his phone and walked into a corner by himself.

Moments later, he grabbed his head, and it fell backward. He was seated on the floor with his knees up and one arm circling them while still holding the phone with the other hand. Something was wrong. East hurried to him and squatted, resting her hands on his knees.

“What’s the name of the hospital?”

  East’s ears perked up.

“I’ll be there in a few hours.” He paused. “And, I’m the only person listed in his files?”

East sat unsure of what was happening for a little longer while Killian wrapped up his conversation and hung up the phone. His eyes were far away as he allowed his head to fall backward onto the wall behind him. East scooted closer to him and rubbed his arm.

  “What’s wrong?”

He didn’t look at her for a long time, but when he finally did, the sadness was there. “Yeshi tried to kill himself.”

East gasped and covered her mouth with wide eyes.

“Jumped off a fucking bridge and hasn’t woken up since.”

  “Oh my god, Killian.”

“He’s on life support in Nevada. That was a nurse from where he’s at. She said my name was the only one she could find. This nigga didn’t have anybody’s name on none of his shit but mine.” Killian’s head fell forward. “She got my number off his emergency contact sheets from his job.”

  “Aww, Kill, is he alone?”

Killian raised his head and nodded. “Yes. She said nobody has been there, and I hate that,” he mumbled. “Yeshi always talked about how rough his childhood was, but he never really specified anything. Suicide? I don’t get it. We were just there, and the nigga looked happy!”

East rubbed his arm as she nodded. “You flying out?”

“Hell yeah, that’s my boy. We don’t talk every day, but he’s one of thos
e friends that you know you’ll have no matter what. Ain’t got to be around each other all the time, the bond is just legit as fuck.”

“I’ve never had one of those, but I know what you mean.”

Killian scratched his head and looked off again. He was quiet for a long time. East didn’t want to probe, so she remained crouched quietly in front of him.

“I don’t know if I can see him like that, East. She said he’s on a ventilator and shit.”

East’s heart dropped for him. “You want me to go with you?”

Killian smirked. “I don’t know. The last time I took you out to Vegas with that nigga, shit went left.”

East didn’t find his comment comical in the least. She sat straight faced and staring at him until he began to laugh.

“I’m just fucking with you. Chill out.” He touched her cheek before grabbing her hand. “You know you’re going with me. The nurse said the sooner, the better. I need to get us a flight.”

East pulled him from the floor and stood in front of him. Killian grabbed her in a hug as soon as he was upright on his feet again. His eyes were on hers as his thoughts ran rampant.

“You gon’ explain this Jaya shit to me later. Don’t think you’re off the hook.”

Another slick smile crossed his face.

“Girl, I’m trying to grieve right now, and you trying to fight. Fucking psycho ass.”

“Mrs. Psycho. Now bring your cheating ass on so we can catch this flight to check on Yeshi.”

East walked away, knowing he was right behind her. They were back out the door and on their way to pack. East booked their flights with Killian’s bank card as he drove. A couple of hours and a couple of thousand miles later, she and Killian had landed in Nevada and were arriving at the hospital.

The hallways were clean and filled with people as they maneuvered their way through the many floors and patrons. When they finally reached the intensive care unit, Killian asked for the nurse he’d been speaking to. Since she was no longer there, another one went over pretty much everything he’d already been told, which all summed up to Yeshi being pretty close to killing himself. She also relayed to them that the way he’d fallen had played the biggest part. Thankfully, the bridge hadn’t been high enough for him to succeed in his pursuit of death.
