She Took My Heart and Went Crazy 2
Page 13
“So, this bridge is actually made for jumping off?”
The short, brown-skinned nurse smiled at East. “Yes, my boyfriend and I go there all the time. It’s just that we jump correctly. From what we were told by the EMTs, Mr. Golden fell backward with no direction whatsoever, causing his current state. He’s in the woods right now, but the good thing is, he still has good brain activity, so once he wakes up, he shouldn’t be too bad off.”
East fixed the jacket to her red and black Nike jogging suit while shifting her purse on her shoulder. With Killian’s hand in hers, she followed the nurse to the room Yeshi was in. A slight tug on her arm had her looking over her shoulder. Killian was still outside the door and unmoving. He shook his head subtly and pulled her back out of the room.
“You scared to go in?”
He didn’t say anything, but he didn’t have to. East already knew. He’d been telling her the whole plane ride how nervous he was. His nerves were so bad he’d barely been able to sit still during their flight or the cab ride to the hospital.
“You want me to go in first and see how bad it is?”
His head nodded once.
Killian reluctantly released her hand before holding his head back and running his hand over his face. East watched him lean on the wall near the door and prop one of his feet up on the wall with his hands in his pocket. The nurse stood next to her with an empathetic smile on her face.
“We can go in,” East told her as she slid the glass door to his room back open and led the way.
Since the curtain was in the way, East didn’t lay eyes on him right away, but when she did, she was thankful. Her heart had been beating like crazy as well, but she’d held it together. There were things hooked up to him, while the large tube hanging from his mouth outshined them all. His bottom lip hung slightly open due to the weight of the machine, while his hands lay flat by his sides.
“His color is a little off because of the water, but other than that, the bruising is minor, and he should be alright. We just have to wait for him to wake up.” Her voice dropped some. “It’s been almost a week since he’s come in, and he still hasn’t shown the slightest form of movement yet.”
“Damn, Yeshi.” East sighed and walked to the side of his bed.
His haircut was still nicely lined, and he was still just as handsome as he had been before, minus the bright red and purple bruises on his face, neck, and arms.
“I’ll give you all some time to visit with him and talk some. He can hear you, so maybe you all can encourage him to wake up.” She smiled again, showing the dimples East hadn’t noticed before. “Would you like me to send him in?” She nodded toward the door.
“You can try. He probably still won’t come until I reassure him that it’s okay.”
She laughed. “Okay, buzz the nurses' station if you all need anything.”
The room was quiet with only the beeping of machines as East stood staring at Yeshi. His face looked so peaceful as he lay sleeping. Her heart broke for him. Just by talking to him, she never would have known he was going through anything bad enough to cause this sort of catastrophe, but then again, one never really knew what someone else was going through.
When East walked out the door to grab Killian, he was in the same spot. His head was back against the wall, and his eyes were closed. His side profile was East’s coffee in the morning. There wasn’t another man who could make her heart skip a beat like he did. She didn’t give a fuck what other people thought he looked like; he was gorgeous to her.
“Baby.”
His eyes popped open. His weary eyes found hers.
East raised her eyebrows at him. “You ready? He looks fine. His yellow ass is bruised up, but that’s it.”
Killian didn’t laugh like she’d thought he would, but he did smile. That would be good enough for the time being. East grabbed his hand and pulled him into the room. He was still moving slowly, weighing her arm down as she dragged him. She heard him exhale when they finally rounded the curtains.
He didn’t move to let her hand go, but he did walk up to the side of the bed. His eyes surveyed Yeshi’s appearance the same way hers had. He even went as far as to touch him. He ran his large hand and long fingers over Yeshi’s dark brown hair before pulling away again. For a few minutes, they stood quietly next to the bed not saying anything.
“Told you it wasn’t that bad.”
“It shouldn’t have been none of this at all. This nigga is always trying to hide shit instead of just being real.” Killian touched Yeshi’s head again. “I could have helped him with whatever he has going on.”
“Some things are easier to keep to yourself. People never really know how bad something is until it overtakes them.”
“But we were just with this nigga, though. He could have let me know something was on his mind.”
“Well, he was drinking a lot. Maybe that was his way of coping.”
Killian was silent when he shrugged. “Maybe, but if that’s the case, he’s been coping for a long time. All this man does is drink. Ever since I’ve known him, he’s been a heavy drinker. It’s definitely some shit that he should probably seek help for.”
East rubbed Killian’s back as she listened to him. A few hours had passed, and they were still sitting on the sofa near his bed. The room was quiet with the beeping machines disturbing the serene atmosphere every so often. The nurses had been consistently coming in and out, each doing something different from the other.
“Why were you in your panties and bra when I got back to the room?” Killian’s question came out of nowhere, but since she’d known their Vegas conversation would resurface at some point, she was equipped. “You ain’t have on no fucking clothes, and neither did this nigga.” Killian nodded toward Yeshi.
Killian was slouched down on the sofa and leaning on East while her leg was thrown across his lap. Since he was snuggled beneath her arm, her hand was directly near his ear. She had been rubbing it comfortingly for the last few hours as his head rested on her breast.
“Because I threw up on my dress. I got so drunk waiting on you that I ended up getting sick, and don’t lie, talking about that boy didn’t have on no clothes, because he did.”
“No, the fuck he didn’t.”
“He may not have had on a shirt, because I threw up all over that too, but he should have had everything else on.”
“Why was y’all even close enough for you to throw up on him?”
“Because he was there looking after me like somebody else should have been doing instead of being laid up somewhere with his ex bitch.”
Killian squinted and looked up at her. “I wasn’t with that girl.”
“Don’t even try to lie, Killian. I know you was with Sheena. I may not remember much, but I remember it taking too long for a McDonald’s run. Once I came to terms with you fucking off with Sheena, I drank some more and ended up getting dumb sick. Yeshi was forced to take care of me out of loyalty to your sucka ass.”
“Call me another sucka and see don’t I knock your teeth down your damn throat.”
East pushed his face with the palm of her hand. “You won’t do shit.” She moved, further pulling herself away from him. “If you wanted to do something to me, you should have done it that night, but you were too busy doing it to that yellow weave wearing hoe.”
Killian turned his nose up at her. “You talk too fucking much.”
East crossed her arms over her chest. “So, and I’m gon’ keep on talking.”
“Not if I choke your ass.”
“Try it,” East countered.
Killian mean mugged her for a few more seconds before leaning back on the sofa and stretching his arms out across the back of it.
“Tell me what you meant by that nigga took care of you. Took care of you how?”
“I’m sure it wasn’t the same way that Sheena took care of you, but,” East rolled her eyes at him, “he gave me water, wiped my mouth with a washcloth, and just sat there with me so I wouldn
t be sick by myself.”
“And, that’s it? You couldn’t wash your own mouth?”
“Nope.” East spoke that one word sternly in attempt to make him mad.
She could tell by the way he looked at her and leaned his head to both sides, stretching his neck, that he wasn’t feeling their conversation. But, he’d started it, so fuck his feelings.
“You want me to put my hands on you, don’t you?”
“I wanted you to put your hands on me that night, but they were too far in Sheena’s ragged pussy ass for you to do that,” East sassed, not letting up.
“Fuck that shit you talking about. How your clothes got off?”
“What you mean how they got off? Yeshi took them off, nigga.”
Killian’s nostrils flared as his eyes shrank into slits. His pupils were as dark as his skin when he frowned at her.
“Keep fucking with me, East, and you’re going to find your head knocked between that damn bed and nightstand.”
East snickered uncontrollably. “Muthafucka, I ain’t gon’ find my head no damn where.”
“Yes, you will, too, because I will knock that shit clean the fuck off.”
Still giggling, East wiped away the water that had pooled in her eyes from her laughter.
“Now, tell me why that nigga was taking your clothes off for you.”
“Because, Killian, I was drunk, dude! How many times you want me to say it? I was mad at you and ended up drinking way too much. I got sick and started throwing up everywhere. He followed me in the bathroom to make sure I was good. At one point, I thought I was good and tried to get off the floor, but I started throwing up again. It got all over his shirt and my dress, so once I finished, he cleaned my mouth with a wet rag, gave me some water, and took my fucking dress off.” East tucked her foot beneath her butt and looked over at Yeshi. “He put me in the bed and made sure I was straight before he took his shirt off. The boy was just as drunk as I was but was trying to make sure I didn’t go out looking for your cheating ass, so fall back out of our business.”
Killian snatched East to him before she realized what was going on. His face was inches from hers as he frowned.
“Tell me you and another nigga got some business together again, I dare you.” He jerked her body for emphasis.
East’s eyes darted down at the wad of her jacket that he had crumpled in his hands. “Boy, if you don’t un-ball my damn clothes, I’ll slap the shit out of you.”
“Do it,” Killian threatened. “You bad.”
He must not have known who he was talking to. East was about that life. Her hand came up, preparing to slap him but was stopped when she went flying across the seat again. He’d tossed her back to her seat and stood to his feet.
“Let me move before I end up whooping your ass up in this room.”
East crossed her legs. “I wish you would do something and stop threatening me. I’ll fuck you up for real. I don’t know why you keep thinking I won’t.”
Killian twisted his mouth to the side as he looked at her over his shoulder. He continued walking until he was on the opposite side of Yeshi’s bed. He looked down at him and watched him sleep.
“So, you ain’t fuck my boy?”
“No, Killian.”
“How you know? And I don’t want to hear that shit about you just know.”
East said nothing. If he didn’t want to hear the only reasoning she had behind her answer, then she wouldn’t say anything. It was up to him to believe her or not believe her, but she sure as hell wouldn’t be telling him what made her so sure. His friend having a big dick and probably causing her some pain after sex would never leave her mouth. She didn’t care how many times he asked.
“Oh, you ain’t got nothing to say now, huh?”
“Nope, because I don’t know what else you want me to say.”
“I want you to tell me how you know.”
“Because I just do. I know my body, and there were no signs of sex the next morning, Killian.”
He looked tortured and annoyed at the same time as he looked away from her.
“Tell me why you fucked Sheena when you knew you were supposed to be with me.”
Killian looked her square in her eyes. “Because I was scared to be in love with you.”
East’s breath got short at the same time her stomach started to jump. Her hands shaking and her body getting hot was a sure sign of her anger. She could feel it on the rise, and Killian was about to die. She’d had an idea that he’d probably had sex with her, but she hadn’t been certain. She should have known that nigga Killian was a different kind of nigga, though. He’d seriously had the nerve to look her in the eye and tell the truth. The nerve of that honest bastard.
She swallowed hard and squinted at him, trying to decide if she’d really wanted the truth when she asked. Unfortunately, whether she’d wanted it or not, he’d force fed it to her ass. Stupid little East. That’s what she got for being so overbearing and not letting stuff just be what it was. An overbearing, crybaby ass wife, that’s what she was. East took a few deep breaths, willing herself not to cry.
“East.”
“Don’t call my fucking name. You really had sex with that girl? You know she doesn’t fucking like me. She did that mess to prove a point to me, and you helped her.” East shook her head. “You letting that hoe make a fool of me.”
East’s leg wagged back and forth as she grew angrier by the second. “I might have been able to handle it better had you not already known that hoe was out for me. Your stupid ass.”
“It wasn’t like that. Asheena just…” He shook his head like he didn’t know what to say.
“Try me and call her Asheena again.” East scooted to the edge of her seat and grabbed her cell phone. “Call her Asheena one more muthafucking time.”
She was waiting for him to say Sheena’s whole name again like she meant something to him, and she was going to beam that phone right at his black ass head. That fitted cap would go flying right into the wall if she had anything to do with it.
“I’m just saying, she was just on some I love you shit, talking about she missed me and wanted to be with me, and all kinds of old stuff. I don’t know why I went, I just did. I was stupid.”
“Yeah, you were.”
“East, I swear it was a mistake. After I married you, I got scared and just fell into her trap. It didn’t mean shit to me. I thought about you the whole time.”
There it went. The shiny, black, iPhone 8 with the glittery pink case went twirling through the air, hitting his shoulder instead of his head before crashing to the floor. Since he’d ducked, she’d missed, but the remote to Yeshi’s TV didn’t miss his ass. Killian grabbed the side of his mouth where the remote had hit him.
“You stupid, inconsiderate, heartbroken, butt heart, crybaby ass bastard!” East stood to her feet and paced the floor. “I want to punch you in your mouth so bad right now. Standing there trying to spoon feed me those middle school drama class ass lies. You were scared, but you married me. She misses and loves you but dogs you and calls you all types of names whenever she’s in your presence. You fell into her trap, it didn’t mean shit, you were thinking about me the whole time?” East fumed before grabbing the pitcher of ice in front of her and throwing it at him. It missed him, only sprinkling his clothes with water. “I wish you would stand there talking to me like I’m one of these ignorant bitches. Nigga, you fucked that girl because you wanted to. Don’t try to guilt trip me into not going upside your lying ass head. You’re a whole cheater out here, Killian.”
East pulled at the ponytail wrap that had been holding her hair and allowed her hair to fall around her shoulders. She was on the warpath right then, and for some reason or another, the same ponytail she’d been wearing all day felt too tight.
“I’m sorry,” Killian told her earnestly while walking toward her.
East stepped back and held her hand up to stop him. “Kill, I put it on my life, if you come any closer to me, I’m sticking your
cheating ass right in the mouth, and I mean that.”
Killian stopped in his tracks. East was still pacing the floor in front of him. It was crazy how betrayed she felt by him when she’d already kind of known what had happened. She didn’t know if it was hearing it out loud or visualizing it happening that was ruining her the most right then.
“East—”
“Shut up! Just shut up, Killian, damn. Shut up… shut up… shut up!” She shook her head with each word she spoke.
She was trying her best to shake the images of Killian’s love faces coming from between Sheena’s thighs out of her head. Visuals of the way his mouth hung open when he was on the verge of climaxing, or the way his chest widened as he kneeled between Sheena’s legs and held them up, so he could get deeper… All of it just refused to leave her alone. Being taunted by all the exact things that made her fall deeper for him was a mind-blowing method of torture.
East bent over and rested her hands on her knees as she tried to make herself okay with what happened. Her eyes closed but popped right back open when she heard Killian’s voice telling Sheena to cum for him.
“Ooooh, my fucking goodness.” She held her stomach and stood back to her feet. “Stop standing there looking at me like you’re helpless. You did this shit.”
Killian nodded and tried to walk to her again, but she stopped him. She didn’t want him anywhere near her, but she would die if he left her. The feeling was stupid and crazy all at once. She’d done this dumb stuff with Jesse already, and she’d had no plans to do it with Killian too.
“I expected more out of you.”
Killian nodded and held his hand out to her. East looked at it as if it was on fire, but he kept it outstretched to her.
“Come on,” he urged her to him.
East’s feet wouldn’t move, but her heart had already left and was sitting in Killian’s hand waiting for her to come take it back.
“Baby, please… I didn’t mean to hurt you like this.”
