“Mia, I’d never, and I swear, never hurt you. I’d die defending you, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to make sure no one gets to you and no one gets to me so that we can have a life together,” he said, looking into her eyes. Mia looked up at him, smiling weakly. He picked her up out of the chair and took her back into the bedroom, Gently laying her down. He unwrapped her like a Christmas gift, tossing her towel aside. Aaron lowered his lips onto her flower, making it bloom with each stroke of his tongue. Mia moaned with pleasure as she watched him lap her diligently. Her mind raced.
“This man has murdered people. He’s a White Supremacist.
What am I doing? God, but I love him.” Aaron stuck his tongue inside her, moving it around in slow circles. He held her hips as she rode his face, grinding against him, creating a waterfall in his mouth. She writhed, gasping for air as her body exploded like a firework into miniature orgasms that overlapped for seconds on end. Aaron gradually rose up, lying down next to her as he pulled the sheets over their bodies. He kissed her forehead as he held her trembling body close to his until they both fell asleep.
In the morning, Dr. Owen opened the apartment door. He looked over at the couch and saw evidence that someone had lain there. He crept inside, knocking softly on the bedroom door after checking all other areas of the apartment.
“Aaron? Mia? You in there?” he whispered. He heard sheets shuffling and sighed in relief.
He thought to himself, “At least they slept in the same room.”
When the door opened, much to his surprise, Mia was asleep, obviously naked. Her beautifully sculptured leg lay across the sheet, part of her hip exposed and her back. Aaron had the towel wrapped around his bare bottom as he stood at the door. He tried to keep it from falling down as he repeatedly looked back over his shoulder at his sleeping sweetness. Dr. Owen smiled, stifling laughter.
“I see you got over your “Black” problem,” he blurted, laughing. Aaron nervously laughed and quickly pushed Dr.
Owen out of the bedroom doorway, closing the door quickly behind him.
“She’s asleep, so I don’t wanna wake her,” Aaron whispered.
“Thank you for this, Dr. Owen. We obviously talked and got this settled.”
“Yes, I see that. It’s settled alright,” Dr. Owen teased. Aaron laughed.
“Just three more months, Aaron, and she and you can have a fresh start. If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know. In the meantime, I need for you to wake her up soon. You need to be back at Holman in one hour. I’ll be waiting outside for you.”
Dr. Owen smiled, shook Aaron’s hand and left. Aaron took another quick shower and brushed his teeth. He got dressed, putting on a clean T-shirt and jeans. He brushed his hair and went back into the bedroom. Mia had changed positions. Now she laid on her stomach, the covers off her bare body with her ass slightly pushed up in the air. Aaron stood there staring, his cock responding to what his eyes were taking in.
“God, I’d love to just…. We don’t have time for this, Aaron, just wake her up and calm your dick down,” he told himself as he gingerly walked over to her, shaking her shoulder.
“Mia,” he said softly, “wake up – wake up – wake up.” Mia moaned and stretched. She opened her eyes slowly and looked around. She sat up, running her fingers through her hair.
Aaron looked at her breasts and legs which she curled underneath herself.
“She’s so fuckin’ beautiful,” he thought to himself. Mia smiled sleepily at him.
“It’s time to get up, already?” she yawned.
“Yeah, it is. Go get cleaned up. I have to leave soon.” He kissed her cheek and walked out of the room. He listened as she showered. She came out with her hair in a long, braided ponytail.
He smiled at her as she approached him with her bag.
“You smell good,” he said, as he buried his face in the cradle of her neck.
“Thank you,” Mia smiled. Aaron kissed her softly. He caressed the side of her face. Mia started to cry.
“Mia, don’t,” Aaron said. “You’ll see me again. We just have to be careful. I can still call you, and I’ll still send you letters until this is over.” He kissed her again.
“Aaron, promise me you’ll be careful,” Mia pleaded.
“I promise, Sweetness. I promise.” He kissed her neck.
Moments later, Mia watched as Aaron and Dr. Owen left the prison. She walked to her car, feeling loved and defeated, all at once.

Two months later…
“I ought to pound your smug face!” Cliff yelled at an inmate that was standing by Aaron.
Aaron slowly walked away towards the water fountain.
“Aaron!” He looked behind him and saw Mike. “It’s good to see you. We’re havin’ a problem with one of the sects and need your help. There’s an outcry for Pete’s initiation, but it’ll bring more attention and…”
“…more violence.” Aaron finished the sentence, crossing his arms.
“Can you arrange it? We can’t keep this under the radar.”
“Have Eddie meet me over at Hall A in twenty-two minutes.
Tell him to come alone. We’ll do this in three minutes versus the thirty it usually takes. It’ll have to be a slam-bam-thank-you-ma’am. If the guards find out, we’ll get extended sentences, so just be quiet and follow my lead,” Aaron said calmly. Mike walked away quickly and tapped Eddie, another Nazi, on the shoulder. Aaron knew he was being tested and that this wasn’t an urgent matter. Rumors had begun to circulate about his dedication. He knew he had to try to act as normal as possible.
Eddie came over in exactly twenty-two minutes to Hall A.
There was a janitorial closet that was always left ajar for inmate sex, gambling, and storing illegal hooch. Aaron knew it would be the perfect spot for a quick beat down.
“Eddie,” Aaron said quietly, “what’s goin’ on with Pete?”
“He needs initiated. Before we get started, I need to ask you somethin’?” Eddie was nearly as tall as Aaron. He had a full beard; hazy, bloodshot eyes; and a scar that started from his forehead and veered off down the left side of his face. He was also held in very high regard but did not have the organizational skills or book smarts Aaron had.
“There’s a rumor floatin’ around that you don’t wanna be in this anymore. Is that true?” Eddie crossed his burly arms.
“No, that’s not true at all. I’ve been sick.” Aaron had in fact been battling a cold and used that to help buy him time.
“Aaron, I’ve known you since we were kids. You can’t bullshit a bullshitter. Now let me tell you in advance, they’re comin’ over here to kick your ass. I know you already know that.
That’s why we’re standin’ by the closet. You’re too valuable to lose,” Eddie said with his deep, raspy voice. Aaron shook his head in agreement. He remained calm even as he saw the large group coming his way.
“Aaron, I’m tryin’ to help you. What the fuck’s goin’ on?”
Eddie whispered. Aaron knew the chances of dying were high.
The crowd grew larger and closer. It looked like a normal descent to Mess Hall to the guards, but he knew as soon as they swept past him, one would grab his right leg, another his left, and two would be on each arm. Aaron participated in these beat downs many times. He knew the routine frontwards and backwards.
“Are they comin’ to kill me, Eddie? Tell me,” Aaron said evenly, taking a defensive physical posture.
“Not kill, but damn near close, Aaron. Now tell me!” Eddie spit, looking deep into his friend’s eyes.
“I can’t. If you know, they’ll get it outta you, then you’ll be in danger too,” Aaron responded.
“No, if you tell me what the fuck’s goin’ on, I can help protect you until you get the fuck outta here. We’ve been friends too long, Aaron! Don’t hold out on me!” The footsteps grew louder.
“Eddie, here it is.” Aaron looked up and saw the crowd twenty-five feet away. He spre
ad his legs and crossed his wrists at his waist. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then looked at Eddie.
“Eddie,” Aaron raised his voice so he could be heard over the approaching crowd, “I’m in love with someone, and she isn’t White. Matter of fact, she’s Black. I’m not leavin’ her. No regrets. Now, do what you have to do!”
Eddie smiled, nodded, patted Aaron on the shoulder, then punched him square in the face. Blood flew out of Aaron’s nose as he dropped to the ground like a bag of rocks. Two men grabbed his right arm, two grabbed his left. One each grabbed a leg. Aaron closed his eyes and smirked as blood trickled down his face. Eddie opened the janitorial closet while another slammed the door behind them. The closet was dark, shrouding the Aryan men in visual asylum. They beat their fists into Aaron Pike, rendering him black and blue. They sung the national anthem as they pummeled his chest, cracking two ribs.
Aaron was fully conscious, and refused to scream or cry for help. He kept the image of Mia in his mind as someone took a broom handle, broke it, and beat him about the body leaving wooden splinters in his legs. Eddie fell to the ground, body slamming Aaron. As he laid close to Aaron’s ear, he whispered,
“Hang in there buddy, it’s almost over.” Aaron felt a pain coming from his right kneecap so excruciating that when he did open his mouth, no sound came out.
The closet door slowly opened, allowing a trickle of yellow light to blanket the bloody mess.
The first six men walked out quietly, checking themselves for blood as they dispersed to the nearby restroom. Eddie looked down at Aaron.
“You’re free, brother. I can’t judge you. Love’s a peculiar thing. You’re hardcore. I swear to you, Brother, I’ll take this to my grave. I love you.”
He closed the door and joined the other men. Aaron waited until the hallway grew quiet. Once he felt the coast was clear, he sighed in pain as he contemplated how to get up. Getting to his feet was nearly impossible. The pain shooting down his legs felt worse than when he had been shot. He managed to hop on one leg until he got the attention of a guard, who immediately called for help.

“Thanks for comin’,” Aaron said weakly. Dr. Owen looked at Aaron’s bruised face and shook his head.
“You said they were going to get you, and you were right.
I’m so sorry, Aaron.”
“It was already deterioratin’. I knew it was just a matter of time. They beat me down to prove a point and get me outta the way. I’ve made too many enemies and wasted too much time doin’ the wrong thing.” He sat up, wincing.
“Aaron, I want you to know how proud I am of you. I’m going to make sure, for your own protection, you stay here to recover until your sentence is up.”
“Dr. Owen, I appreciate that, but I have to go back. It’s the honorable thing to do. I’m still a Nazi. Once a Nazi, always a Nazi. I’m just not gonna participate anymore. I can’t preach then go home and make love to my Black wife and expect to be taken seriously. Just because I’m in love with her doesn’t change the fact that I still feel Jews are takin’ over the country, that Affirmative Action’s wrong, and that the White man’s losin’ his power. What has changed is that I now realize that we all want the same thing, and that’s to be loved.” Aaron pushed the nurse call button. A short blonde came into the room.
“Yes, Mr. Pike?” she asked.
“May I please have some aspirin,” Aaron asked, exasperated.
“Mr. Pike, we can give you pain killers. Aspirin’s probably not…”
“Just the aspirin, please.” He turned away from her and faced Dr. Owen.
“Nevertheless, Aaron, I know that heart of ice of yours is melting. I saw what you were when you first came into our prison for the third time. I see what you are now. You’re not the same person.” Dr. Owen smiled and patted Aaron’s hand and left. Aaron laid in the bed, daydreaming about holding Mia in his arms.

“OK, Class! I expect you all to have your homework completed tomorrow. There will be a pop quiz sometime this week!” Mia said, smiling. The bell rang, sending her students hurriedly towards the door. Mia picked up her eraser and removed her words from the chalkboard. She hummed to herself, daydreaming about Aaron. She continued to tutor every Sunday at the prison, resisting the urge to hug him. Aaron would make sure he walked past her class when capable. They would steal quick glances. Sometimes he would wink at her and keep going.
That was all she received, besides the cards, letters, and infrequent phone calls that barely kept her afloat. The one night they spent together kept her wet for days. She fantasized about making love to him once more and drifted off to sleep, drenched and needy.
“Can I be the new student in your class?” Mia turned towards the door. Her heart stopped beating as her eyes adjusted to what she was seeing.
“Are you really standing there!” She ran over to Aaron, hugging him tightly. Aaron smiled and winced at the same time.
“Oh.” Mia stepped back. “I’m sorry. What’s wrong?”
“I couldn’t tell you over the phone or in letters, but they got me, just like I told you was gonna happen. They broke two of my ribs, so although I’d love for you to gimme a huge hug, it’s not a good idea.” Aaron grinned as he kissed her cheek.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were getting out a week early?”
“Things were gettin’ too hot. Dr. Owens made a plea, and they released me. The whole organization’s a mess, and I couldn’t keep up with what was bein’ asked, plus I don’t care anymore. Eddie could only cover for me for so long, and I didn’t wanna put him in harm’s way.” Mia kissed him. Her lips grazed his slowly. She opened her mouth, sucking his lips gently.
Aaron held her as he reciprocated. She touched the small scar at his temple and continued to kiss him.
“Come on. Let’s go. I need to talk to you,” he said as he helped her gather her things and walked to her car.
“Turn left here,” Aaron directed as Mia drove.
“You have me in the middle of bumblefucky,” Mia laughed.
Aaron looked at her and cracked up.
“Do you know I’ve never heard you curse before, except durin’ sex? he laughed. “Here it is.
Here’s the park I’d always go to when I was a teenager and wanted some peace and quiet.” They got out of the car. Aaron took a blanket from his suitcase and laid it on the ground. They sat down by the creek, listening to the water rush over the rocks.
“I wanna move to Vermont with you. I can’t stay here in Alabama. It’s too dangerous. I don’t wanna control you, but I need a certain type of woman who understands that this is what’s required. Mia, I told you from the beginnin’, but I need…”
“I know what you need, Aaron. I know what you want. You need a supportive woman by your side who will trust you to do the right thing. You want a real family. You want me to be a stay-at-home mother until the children enter preschool because you didn’t have that. You need me to be there for you. I get it.
Yes, I’ll move to Vermont with you. We’ve been through this before, Baby. I understand.” Aaron smiled and held her hand more tightly.
“I knew you were what I was lookin’ for.” Aaron leaned close to Mia, kissing her fervently.
He slowly unbuttoned her shirt, letting it fall free, exposing her white bra. Mia unhooked it while Aaron pulled his shirt over his head and unzipped his jeans.
“What if someone sees us?” Mia asked, as she slid her pants and shoes off.
“No one ever comes way back here,” Aaron dismissed as he pulled his underwear down.
The two sat close together, in naked splendor. Aaron gently moved her hair out of her face and kissed her lightly on the lips, cheek, and neck. He caressed her breast with one hand and held her neck with the other, bringing her face closer to his as he explored her mouth with his tongue. He gingerly laid her down on the blanket, the birds flying overhead, singing their sweet melodies. The sounds of the creek and wind-blown grass sung their
lovemaking tunes as the two started the dance to unite their souls. Mia closed her eyes, holding his shoulders, bringing him close to her heart as he positioned himself on top of her. Cradled in each other’s arms, pressed together, unbreakable, Aaron completed the connection as he propelled in and out of her ocean. No words were exchanged, only deep moaning and breathing as their bodies tingled with ecstasy. Mia drifted off to a poem in her mind as Aaron made love to her.
I’ve waited for this day, this perfect piece of purgatory.
I’ve waited for you to kiss my story.
I’ve waited for you to lay me out, spread me out, open me, make me yours.
I’ve waited for you to open my window and seal shut my doors, Claim my heaven and drag my fears to Hell.
I’ve waited for this moment to be your new tale, For you to claim my sky, my glory.
For you to finish my untold story
I’ve dreamed about you teasing my tempting thighs and tasting my honey.
I wanted to eat your tears and give your haunting a run for its money.
I wanted you badly as the sun bathed me in sticky heat.
I wanted you more when the iridescent moon promised this day we would meet.
I knew you would open my wings and make me your naughty angel.
My hair would tangle as you made me give you all I had.
You make me speak in tongues, in the back of the church of my essence.
You make this good girl feel so good – being bad.
I let you take me.
I let your hatred enter my body so I could cast it away.
Your milk, filled with Satan’s curse and dirty demons, I stole it and led it astray.
You emptied inside of me so I could wash you clean and pure.
I felt your teardrops, as you let it all go.
