The Last Time

Lynn looked at every face at the table. Now she was crying full force, she lifted the cloth napkin and covered her face, and she wept her tears of joy. When she removed the napkin, Cordell was standing behind her at the table. Lynn looked up at him, with love in her teary eyes.

Everyone's eyes were on her and Cordell. Lynn looked down the table. Everyone had tears slipping down their faces. Lynn smiled at them. Words wouldn’t come.

Cordell pulled her chair from the table, extending his hand for her to rise. Lynn placed her small hand in his larger one, and she rose, looking up at him.

Cordell dropped to one knee in front of her. Lynn looked down at his bowed head. Her breathing was in shallow pants as tears fell from her eyes. Cordell looked up at her a sincere look on his face.

“Lynn before you came into my life, I didn’t know which way was up. I didn’t know if I would ever find true love for myself. The day you came to the game, and I looked into those beautiful, sexy eyes of yours, I knew I was lost, and didn’t want to be found. Right now, I can't even imagine where I would have been if you hadn’t walked into my life that day. When I discovered you were what God wanted me to have, I wanted to shout it from the highest rooftop. My life is not complete without you in it. I love you with everything that I am, and I want to know if you would do me the honor of becoming my wife, and making me the happiest man in this world?” He finished and held the small ring box with an exquisite ring sitting in the middle.

Lynn got down on her knees in front of him and clasped his face in her hands. She looked deep into his eyes and could see tears there.

“I love you so much Cordell, and I would love nothing more than becoming your wife.”

Cordell closed his eyes and lowered his head. The audience at the table came to their feet and started clapping and dancing with each other, while Lynn and Cordell were on their knees holding each other and kissing passionately.

“I’m glad we ate first, after seeing that, I probably would have lost my appetite,” Calvin said laughing. Lynn and Cordell looked over at them and joined them in their laughter, both eyes glittering with tears.
