Resisting Temptation
Page 32
She pulls out the now empty fast food bag to which Christopher offers up a quick explanation, “I had fries.”
She quirks a brow at him, “And you felt the need to hide that under the couch cushion?”
He gives up the farce. “Come on, Faith, give me a break, I almost died at school today. I just can’t do it. I’m a growing guy, and this no meat thing is going to screw with my growth.”
She rolls her eyes. “It is not, it’s making you healthier and grow stronger, but you do not have to do it. You both are the ones who said you could.” She pauses and looks over at me now, her gaze narrowing in suspicion, “Where is yours?”
I don’t answer but I don’t have to because Ruthie’s giggle says it all. Faith’s gaze moves to where my arms are wrapped around the kid’s stomach and her eyes widen in disbelief. “Oh you have got to be kidding me, Cade.”
She pries my arms away and lifts up her shirt, letting the half eaten burger fall to the floor. Christopher laughs at the mustard and ketchup that’s smeared all over the kid’s stomach.
Shit!
Faith lets out a disbelieving laugh that doesn’t sound funny at all and shakes her head. “I cannot believe you guys!”
She picks up a giggling Ruthie and carries her into the kitchen. I look over at Christopher, who is still laughing, and I can’t help but chuckle. I swipe the burger off the floor and walk into the kitchen to throw it in the garbage.
Red has the small removable nozzle pulled from the sink and is using that, along with a rag, to clean the kid up.
“Here. I’ll clean her up,” I move toward her, feeling bad that she’s upset now.
“No, I’ll clean her up. I can’t believe you. I mean, what were you thinking…” She points her hand at me angrily, forgetting about the spraying nozzle, and soaks the shit out of my shirt and face just before I jump back.
She gasps and drops the hose, realizing what she just did then stares at me apologetically. Christopher walks in to see what the commotion is about and stops short when he sees my wet state. A noise draws my attention back to Faith and I see her hand cupped over her mouth, muffling her laughter.
When I start toward her she grabs Ruthie and holds her out protectively in front of her. “I’m so sorry it was an accident, I swear.”
I rip the kid from her grasp and she takes off in the split second it takes me to hand Ruthie off to Christopher, but I catch her quickly. Lifting her off her feet, she kicks and fights against me as I drag her back into the kitchen. “Seriously, it was an accident. I didn’t mean to.”
I ignore her protest and bring her back over to the sink, pinning her between me and the counter. The way she squirms against me has my cock turning hard.
The kids’ laughter fills the air while they watch on with amusement. I turn on the water and pick up the small black nozzle. “Cade, I am serious. Don’t you even think about it. I will…” Her words trail off on a gasp as I soak her face, hair and the front of her shirt. “Oh my god, stop! Please!”
I do eventually stop, but not until she is completely and utterly soaked. After I drop the sprayer, I step back and give her a minute to get her bearings. She hangs over the sink and swipes her wet hair out of her face, then picks up the towel that’s next to her on the counter and begins wiping herself off the best she can. I figure this is over but realize I’m wrong when I see her reach for the dish soap next to her.
“Uh oh, you’re in twouble now, big guy.”
Faith turns around and smiles at me sweetly, a mischievous gleam in her eyes. “Don’t even think it, Red. You are not going to like the consequences,” I warn her seriously.
Quirking a brow, she steps closer then starts shooting the fucking soap all over me.
“Oh shit!” Christopher curses with a chuckle.
She does it quickly, and the moment she drops the bottle to run I grab onto her wrist, but she slips out of my wet grip and rushes toward the stairs. I start after her, swiping the chocolate syrup off the counter in the process then race up the stairs behind her. She screams when she sees how close I am, and tries to slam the door but isn’t fast enough.
“Oh crap!” She tries making it to the bathroom but I tackle her from behind and we land on the bed. I roll her underneath me so she’s facing me and pin both of her wrists over her head with one of my hands while the other one pours chocolate syrup all over her.
“Ahhhh!” She screams in laughter, fighting to get away, and her attempts have her grinding against my hard on. She feels it and moans, her efforts turning into something else now. I growl and throw the fucking bottle behind me and take her mouth in a hot-as-fuck kiss.
Inhaling her innocent taste and swallowing her moans, my hand starts working its way up her flat, wet stomach, eager to reach the swell of her tits when we get interrupted by a tiny throat being cleared. “Estuse me, but dere is a vewy big mess in de titchen and I am getting vewy hungwy.”
Wanting to weep with disappointment, I reluctantly pull my mouth from Red’s and look over to the kid. I really do dig her, but she has the worst fucking timing. “Where is your brother?” And why did he not keep you with him.
“His phone wang, and when he wooked at de callawr he wan out of de woom to answer it,” she explains with a smile, having no idea how badly she is cramping my style right now.
“We are coming right now,” Faith tells her.
Actually we are not coming, but I sure fucking wish I were.
“Truce, Walker?” I look down at Faith’s soaking wet body that’s covered in chocolate and my cock swells harder. I really want to lick that fucking chocolate off her, but since the kid is watching us, I stand and decide I will make her pay later.
I hold out my hand to her, which she takes, and pull her to stand. She’s just about to say something when Christopher comes into the room looking stunned. “You are never going to believe this.”
“What is it? Are you okay?” Faith asks worriedly, walking over to him.
“That was Alissa on the phone. Thanks to her dad she is allowed to go to the dance with me tomorrow night.”
“Oh my gosh, Christopher, that is so great!” She jumps up and down excitedly, but her enthusiasm fades quickly when she realizes the kid isn’t as excited as her.
“What’s the matter, isn’t this what you wanted?”
“Yeah. I’m glad I get to go with her, but… she was really upset when she called me. Turns out her mom and Ryan’s dad are having an affair.” Faith gasps. “I know. I guess that’s why her mom was on Ryan’s side. Her parents are separating and she’s really upset.”
“Oh poor Alissa. I can only imagine how much she’s hurting.”
“She asked if I would meet up with her. Is that okay?”
“Yes, of course. Where are you guys going?”
“We’re meeting at the mall in the food court.”
“Do you want a ride?”
He shakes his head. “No, it’s okay.”
“What about money? Do you need any?”
“No, it’s fine, I got some. Cade paid me last week,” he mumbles, getting uncomfortable, like always, at the mention of her trying to give him money.
“Okay, well not too late and text me when you’re on your way home or if you want us to pick you up.”
“Okay, see ya.”
He walks out of the room and Red looks at me, anger sparking in her emerald depths. “See. What did I tell you? That woman is something else. Tell me my kids need to go to church when she’s out committing adultery. Ha! I tell you,” she seethes, pointing her finger at me while she walks her pissed off ass around the room, pulling the covers off the bed to wash them, “it’s people like her that give Christians a bad name. Acting all high and mighty when she’s spreading her legs…” she trails off, remembering Ruthie is in the room.
The kid looks at her patiently, “Continue.”
I smirk, but Faith doesn’t find it as amusing and shakes her head guiltily. “No, I shouldn’t have said that. We aren’t going t
o waste another minute talking about someone who doesn’t deserve our negative energy.” I roll my eyes. “Since it’s just the three of us, how about we go out for supper and maybe go get an ice cream after?”
“Oh dat sounds dewicious.”
“Great. I’ll take a quick shower while Cade cleans the kitchen before we go.” She looks over at me smugly.
“Me? Why the hell do I have to clean it?”
“Because it’s your fault it’s like that.”
“The hell it is. You’re the one who sprayed me first.”
She walks up to me and points her finger in my chest, “And you are the one who lied to me about eating meat, then proceeded to shove your half-eaten hamburger down a kid’s shirt.”
Well shit, she got me there. “Christopher is the one who bought them,” I mumble, ratting the kid out.
She smirks then grabs my shirt in her small fist and gives me a quick, hard kiss. “You are forgiven. After you clean up the kitchen.” She walks to the closet and slaps my ass as she passes me. “Now get at ‘er.” She laughs at my hard expression before closing the door, making me desperately want to follow her in there, slam her up against the door and fuck the sass out of her.
I look over to see the kid watching me with a smile, “I told ya. Secwets always have a way of toming out.”
I grunt and pick her up, putting her on my shoulders, then duck as I walk under the door. “You can help me so we get out of here faster.”
I will let Faith win this battle, but the war will be mine. By the time I’m finished with her tonight, she will no longer be fucking laughing.
CHAPTER 29
Cade
As I make my way down the stairs I hear music blaring from the kitchen. Some sort of oldies shit. I walk in to see Red in the midst of prepping the food for Christopher’s birthday supper. Leaning against the wall, I watch as her hips sway to the music and listen to her sing along. Her talent shining through that of the original artist.
As if feeling the weight of my stare, she turns around to see me watching her. She gives me a smile that has my dick turning hard like always, and starts dancing over to me, continuing to sing along with the song…
So if you’re lookin’ to find love you can share
All you gotta do is
Hold him and kiss him and love him
And show him that you care
Following up the words, she wraps her arms around my neck, and her smile turns knowingly when she feels how hard I am against her stomach, but her dancing never falters and neither does her voice.
Show him that you care just for him
Do the things he likes to do
Wear your hair just for him, ’cause
You won’t get him
Thinkin’ and a-prayin’
Wishin’ and hopin’
Just wishin’ and hopin’ and thinkin’ and prayin’
Plannin’ and dreamin’ his kiss is the start
That won’t get you into his heart…
Not being able to hold back any longer, I cup her tight ass then shut her up with a kiss. She moans into my mouth and gives just as good as she gets, spearing her fingers in my hair.
Fuck, I love how she can go from cold to hot in a matter of seconds. I know if I shoved my hand up her sundress and into her panties she would be wet and ready for me. I consider doing just that when I hear the front door fly open.
“Okay, I’m here, the party can start now.”
I groan when I hear Katelyn’s voice. She comes walking into the kitchen carrying a big bowl with a present stacked on top. “Oops, bad timing?” she asks with a smirk, not looking guilty at all for busting up my make out session.
Faith snickers and gives me one more kiss before pushing away from me. “No, your timing is fine,” she lies, taking the bowl from Katelyn and giving her a kiss on the cheek. “Thanks for bringing this.”
“No problem. Where is the birthday boy?”
“He is walking Alissa here, they shouldn’t be much longer.”
“He walked to her house to pick her up and is walking her back here?” Faith smiles and nods. “Okay, that is ridiculously sweet. Any guy I’ve ever dated would never do something like that.”
I grunt. That’s because she dates fucking losers.
She glares at me, “Got something to say, Walker?”
“Yeah, maybe try dating a different kind of guy and you would,” I reply, sitting at the table.
“Oh you mean a real happy gem like yourself?”
I scowl at her before Faith intervenes. “All right you two, that’s enough. Be nice to each other, especially tonight.”
The thing is, we have come to a silent agreement of sorts and I actually don’t mind the chick. We both have one thing in common, we care about Red, and she has lightened up on me since I have been staying here.
“Of course we will. I can’t wait for you to meet Papa,” she smirks as if I should be concerned. The grandpa I am not worried about, but the father? Well that is a different story. I have been trying not to think about it, because every time I do my blood begins to boil and hatred rushes through me. I know it’s not logical but I can’t help it. I am hoping I will be able to control it, for at least tonight, because the last thing I want to do is upset Red.
“Tatewyn!” Ruthie comes running upstairs from watching TV and excitedly launches herself at Katelyn.
She scoops her up, “Hey there, beauty queen. Guess what Auntie Katelyn brought you?”
“What?”
She walks over to the counter where she put her purse and pulls out a bottle of pink sparkly nail polish.
Jesus really? She’s six.
“Oh wow, I wuv it, tank you,” Ruthie beams while giving her a hug then holds the bottle against her beanie. “I fink it will wook good wif my hat.”
“It will look perfect with your hat. I will do your nails later, before bed.”
Before anyone can say more, the doorbell rings. Ruthie jumps out of Katelyn’s arms and rushes to the door with Katelyn close behind her.
I decide to let them answer it so I can watch Red struggle to reach something from the top cabinet. The top of her dress rising high enough for me to catch a small glimpse of hot pink, satin panties. Ones that will be ripped off later tonight. When she starts jumping I give in and stop being a dick.
I walk over and cage her in, “I got it, Red. What do you need?”
She turns around, pressing against me, “The seasoning salt, please… and thank you.” As I reach up, she shoves her hand up my shirt and scores her nails down my abs, the small sting shooting straight to my dick. She giggles when a low growl erupts from my chest. I am seriously going to fuck the shit out of her…
“Hey, Country, do you know this kid by chance?” Evans booming question breaks me from my thoughts and I turn around to see him holding a giggling Ruthie, upside down by one leg. The whole gang: Grace, Jaxson, Julia, Kayla, Cooper and Katelyn, who is holding Annabelle, file into the kitchen.
Red sneaks around me then walks up to Ruthie and pretends to assess her. “Hmm, I think I know this little girl, she looks sort of familiar…”
“Ah what the hell, let’s throw her in the garbage,” Evans says, causing her to squirm and squeal.
“Oh no you don’t. Tade will beat you up if you frow me away.”
Evans lifts her leg higher until her upside down face is level with his, “Is that what this guy has been telling you? That he can beat me up? He’s lying, kid. No one can beat me up.”
Jaxson and I both grunt before I walk over and rip her leg from his and turn her right side up. She giggles and wraps her arms tightly around my neck. “Quit filling her head with lies.”
“Shall we prove it?” he challenges with a cocky grin.
“All right, just settle down. No one is proving anything.” Faith chuckles while taking everyone’s presents and giving them a hug.
Just then Christopher and Alissa come walking in, holding hands.
“Hey, there
’s the handsome birthday boy,” Katelyn announces before walking over and giving him a kiss on the cheek, which has the poor kid’s face turning tomato red.
Did she have to do that while he’s holding a chick’s hand?
“Thanks, Katelyn,” he mumbles, embarrassed.
Next she hugs Alissa then runs her hands through her hair. “Your curl held up well. Your hair still looks great from last night.”
“Oh, yes it is. Thank you again for doing it for me,” she responds shyly.
“Of course anytime.”
“How was the dance, kid? Did you follow my advice?” Sawyer asks with a cocky grin. I slap him in the back of the head while Christopher gets a look of panic.
“What advice?” Faith asks curiously.
“Nothing!” both Christopher and I answer at the same time.
“Uh, I’m going to take Alissa on a tour of the house… Come on.” He tugs on her hand and hightails his ass out of here.
“Oh my god, they are so cute,” Julia gushes and all the girls agree.
Sawyer grunts then leans over to Jaxson, “Yeah, I’ll bet his bedroom is the first and only room she will see.”
All of us guys chuckle but Faith gasps, not finding it funny. “Oh no, Christopher isn’t like that, he’s too young.”
“He’s sixteen, Country.”
“Exactly.” She looks at each of us guys when we remain quiet. “How old were you guys?”
Of course Evans is stupid enough to answer. “Fifteen.”
Faith gasps again, “Fifteen? You were still a baby.”
“Please, baby my ass,” Sawyer replies insulted, “you should have seen…”
“All right that’s enough!” Grace interrupts slapping a hand over his mouth making him chuckle.
Shaking my head, I go outside with Ruthie in my arms and fire up the barbecue. Everyone follows and takes a seat around the patio table. All the girls fight with Katelyn to hold the baby and Kayla ends up winning, which is no surprise. Grace and Faith start passing out drinks to everyone when Christopher and Alissa walk out to join us.
“That was quick,” Sawyer mumbles to Cooper and Jaxson, but everyone hears it.
