TJ and Rich walk over to Janet.

Rich says goodbye to Ramano and another soldier.

TJ, Rich, and Janet exit the cafeteria.

“What do you need son?” asks Rich as Rich, TJ, and Janet stand outside the cafeteria doors.

“I need people. I need a strike team. I need military professionals that have no problem killing,” replies TJ to Rich.

Rich looks around the military base and sees Colonel Meyers talking to a person next to a large military vehicle.

Rich sees Colonel Meyers and Commander Pine talking and says, “I think I have the right guy for the job.”

TJ sees that Rich is looking at Colonel Meyers.

“Colonel! Can I talk with you for a second?” shouts Rich to Colonel Meyers.

Rich walks over towards Colonel Meyers and Commander Pine.

  TJ and Janet follow Rich.

  “Yes, Captain?” asks Colonel Meyers.

“I might have an assignment for you,” says Rich to Colonel Meyers.

Colonel Meyers looks at Janet and TJ.

“What happened to your face?” asks Colonel Meyers to TJ.

TJ answers, “It got fucked up. What happened to yours?”

  Colonel Meyers glares at TJ.

  TJ smirks at Colonel Meyers.

Colonel Meyers realizes that TJ is joking around and laughs.

“That was a good one. I like this guy,” says Colonel Meyers to TJ.

Rich says, “This is my son TJ and that’s Janet.”

Commander Pine introduces herself to TJ and Janet.

Colonel Meyers shouts, “Enough with the bullshit, what’s the job?”

TJ answers, “It’s a simple rescue mission. No rules just rescue this person by any means necessary.”

Colonel Meyers smirks and says, “You got that right. There aren’t any rules anymore. Just the ones we make.”

Janet looks at Commander Pine with an annoyed expression after hearing Colonel Meyers’ statement.

“Who is the hostage?” asks Colonel Meyers.

  Rich answers, “My daughter.”

“Where is she?” asks Commander Pine.

  “The Indian casino,” answers Rich.

“Is that a problem?” asks Janet to Colonel Meyers.

Lieutenant General Swartz comes around the corner with three soldiers and shouts, “Nothing is a problem for us! We will get it done!”

TJ, Janet, Rich, and Commander Pine look at Lieutenant General Swartz.

Rich introduces TJ and Janet to Lieutenant General Swartz.

Lieutenant General Swartz looks at TJ and says, “We will get your sister back. You can bet on that.”

  Rich looks at Commander Pine.

“When do you want to do this?” asks Colonel Meyers to TJ.

  “Sooner the better,” replies TJ.

Lieutenant General Swartz looks at TJ and says, “Your father, Colonel Meyers, and I will develop the plan and our attack strategy. We will take it from here.”

“Janet and I know the casino better than your men. No disrespect sir, but we are coming along,” says TJ to Lieutenant General Swartz.

Rich says, “My son is a former Marine and police officer. He and Janet can handle themselves. Your men won’t have to watch over them.”

Colonel Meyers looks at TJ and says, “Your face tells otherwise.”

TJ shouts, “There were twenty of them at the casino! I held my own!”

“You gotta pick your battles better, I guess,” says Colonel Meyers with a sarcastic tone.

TJ gets annoyed by Colonel Meyers’ comment.

“I’m only kidding man. Relax. My team and I will get it done,” says Colonel Meyers.

“When do we leave?” asks TJ.

“We will leave in a couple days. Colonel Meyers and his team have something big going on tomorrow. We will attack the casino soon,” says Lieutenant General Swartz.

  TJ looks at Rich.

Lieutenant General Swartz looks at TJ and says, “Son, we will get this done. You and Janet can come along. We will develop a plan and pick a specific day for this mission. Your father or someone will be in touch.”

Lieutenant General Swartz excuses himself from the conversation and walks away from TJ, Rich, Janet, and Commander Pine.

Colonel Meyers walks away with Lieutenant General Swartz.

  “Charming fella,” jokes Janet.

Commander Pine replies, “Yeah, charming like a toad. He’s good at his job though. He will get your sister back.”

TJ looks at Rich and says, “Keep me in the loop. Janet and I will be ready to go for the mission.”

Rich replies, “I know son. Let’s go talk about this casino situation and what happened.”

Rich says goodbye to Commander Pine.

Commander Pine says goodbye to Rich, TJ, and Janet.

Janet sees how Commander Pine looks at Rich.

Rich, Janet, and TJ walk towards Rich’s office building.

Commander Pine walks into the medical building.

  CHAPTER 4

  WHICH ONE

“Which one is it?” I ask Phil as I look out the electric truck front windshield.

“That’s it right there. House number 784,” says Phil as he points at a house across the street from where we are parked in the electric truck.

A cool breeze blows some trash in the street.

As I sit in the electric truck passenger seat, I’m slightly nervous to exit the electric truck.

Bobby G, Phil, and Lauren exit the electric truck.

I look down the street, take a deep breath, and then exit the electric truck.

“It’s all clear. The Warriors and our group cleared the streets and checked the houses,” says Phil.

“You checked all these houses?” asks Lauren.

Lauren looks down the street and then at Phil.

“There has to be over fifty homes in here,” says Lauren.

“We checked all the major homes and areas,” says Phil.

“The streets and homes in here are safe,” says Bobby G.

“Where was the guy that walked up on you and Shaun? Where did he come from?”

Phil walks over to a spot in the street and says, “Here. It was right here.”

  “He was alone?”

“Yeah, he was all alone,” answers Phil.

I look down the street and then at Jacob’s house.

“It was weird. Shaun wasn’t sure what the guy wanted. The guy had a gun and pointed it at William, and Shaun took him out,” says Phil.

“We found several people from Channelside that Jacob kidnapped, but that old guy looked to be alone,” says Bobby G.

“That was until we found two houses filled with tons of Chinese people. I think the old guy escaped from a house and was looking for help,” says Phil.

“What happened to all those Chinese people?”

“William took most of them to the Haven but not all of them,” answers Phil.

“I’ll have to talk to William about it when I see him.”

I carefully look at Jacob’s house and focus on the house exterior, the driveway, the overgrown front yard, and everything around the house.

  Lauren walks over to me.

Bobby G and Phil walk over to me too.

“Here is the note that DK left behind,” says Phil as he hands me the note.

“Show me where the note was.”

Phil takes me and Lauren into Jacob’s house.

Bobby G follows behind us as we walk into Jacob’s house through the front door.

Phil walks into the kitchen and places the DK note on the kitchen island counter.

“This is where we found it,” says Phil.

I stand in the kitchen next to the note and look at the walls in the kitchen, the walls around the house, and the kitchen cabinets.

I see something flashing on top of a kitchen cabinet. It’s very small and hidden on top of the maple kitchen cabinets.

I reach up towards the kitchen cabine
ts and grab the object that is flashing.

  It’s a camera.

“What the hell is that?” asks Phil.

I look at the camera and the wires attached to the camera.

I pull the small thin black wires from the camera and follow the wires to a battery pack.

“It’s a battery powered camera,” I say to Phil as I grab the camera, the camera wires, and the battery pack off the top of a kitchen cabinet.

“Did you check this house for explosives?”

Phil replies, “Yes, the house is clear.”

Bobby G sees the camera and says, “That wasn’t here before. We checked this house thoroughly.”

  “Are you sure?”

“Pretty sure, no way to be certain but I think we would have caught that before,” answers Bobby G.

I look into the lens of the camera.

“Can you hear me? Is this you DK?”

I look for a microphone on the camera and see one.

“Give me a sign if it’s you DK.”

I look at the camera, and the red light on the camera stops flashing.

“It just shut off,” I say to Phil.

“Was that the sign?” asks Lauren.

“I don’t know. Maybe the battery died?”

I place the camera on the large oversized kitchen island.

Phil and I look at the camera.

“Did you turn the thing off by accident?” asks Phil.

“I don’t think so. I didn’t hit any buttons or anything.”

Suddenly the red light on the camera starts flashing again.

I see the red light flashing again and say, “See I didn’t hit anything.”

Lauren sees the flashing red light on the camera and says, “It’s flashing differently now.”

“Ryan! Come quick!” shouts Bobby G as he stands in Jacob’s backyard.

I run out to the backyard and over to Bobby G.

I see something flying and shout, “Get down!”

Bobby G and I hide behind objects on Jacob’s back patio.

Lauren and Phil open the sliding glass door that leads from the kitchen into the backyard.

“Close the door and get down!”

Lauren hides in the living room and Phil hides behind the sliding glass door blinds.

“What is it?” asks Phil to me as he peeks his head out the open sliding glass door.

“It’s the drone. I think the same one from the resort.”

The all white military drone is flying low in the sky around Jacob’s neighborhood and close to the beach.

I peek over a patio chair and see the military drone flying along the beach.

“We need to get inside,” I say to Bobby G.

  Bobby G nods his head.

I say to Bobby G, “Stay low and quietly go inside the house.”

Bobby G slowly stands up from behind Jacob’s barbecue grill.

I see Bobby G slowly stand up and I keep an eye out for the military drone.

Bobby G takes a step towards Jacob’s house. The military drone is heard flying close to Jacob’s house.

Bobby G turns towards the sound of the military drone.

I stand up from behind a patio chair and walk towards the sliding glass door.

Bobby G takes another step towards Jacob’s house but keeps his eyes on the beach.

Bobby G doesn’t see the wind chime hanging from Jacob’s covered lanai and clumsily hits his head on the wind chime.

I look at Bobby G with a panicked look.

“Get the fuck inside!” I shout to Bobby G.

Bobby G tries to stop the wind chime from making any more noise.

  “Get in here!” shouts Phil.

“Just leave it!” I shout to Bobby G as I direct Bobby G towards the sliding glass door.

Bobby G and I rush into Jacob’s house, and Phil closes the sliding glass door.

“They already know we are here. What’s sneaking around doing?” asks Lauren.

“Good point. I guess they know which house we are in.”

Bobby G looks out the kitchen window that is above the kitchen sink and sees Jacob’s backyard and the beach.

  “What should we do now?”

Bobby G sees the military drone fly towards the Gulf of Mexico and away from Jacob’s house.

“The coast is clear. The drone just flew away,” says Bobby G.

  “You sure?” asks Phil.

“Yeah, I just saw it fly away,” answers Bobby G.

I see a picture of Jacob, Beth, and Brandon hanging on the wall.

  Lauren walks over to me.

Lauren sees the picture of Jacob, Beth, and Brandon.

“This asshole has a family?” asks Lauren.

  “Yeah, I think so.”

Lauren says, “I’m sure she’s a bitch. Just like Jacob.”

As I look at Jacob and his family in their pictures, I find it strange seeing them. It’s odd being in the house of a person that you have had several altercations with.

“What should we do with the camera?” asks Bobby G.

“Leave it here. We will leave it right here,” says Phil as he turns the camera away from us and faces it towards the kitchen sink.

“Let’s get the fuck out of here. We have had enough excitement on this house call.”

Lauren and Bobby G exit Jacob’s house.

I walk with Phil towards Jacob’s front door as I look at DK’s note.

“Do you think it’s a trap?”

Phil answers, “I don’t know, but we haven’t seen Jacob or any of the Conquerors for over a week now.”

Lauren and Bobby G enter the electric truck.

“No Conquerors anywhere?” I ask Phil.

Phil replies, “Nope. Shaun and I went into several Conqueror buildings a couple days ago. We didn’t see anyone and haven’t seen anyone since we saw Jacob at the resort.”

“What buildings did you go into?”

Phil answers, “Just a couple small buildings close to our borders. We had two teams and it was fine.”

“What about the shopping center that has the pet store in it?”

I get into the electric truck.

Phil enters the electric truck and says, “We didn’t go there. We figured it wasn’t a good idea to go there.”

“Let’s go there soon. I want to see if they are there still.”

Phil starts up the electric truck.

“You sure about that?” asks Phil.

“Yup, I just want to talk with them. If they put up a fight, then we will take them down and take over the shopping center.”

  “Sounds good,” says Phil.

“Where are we going now?” asks Bobby G.

I look at Phil and ask, “Do you have some time?”

Phil laughs and replies, “All the time in the world.”

“Good, let’s go check out a couple car dealerships on the way home. Bob needs a new ride.”

  Bobby G smiles.

Phil starts driving and says, “You tell me where to go, and I’ll take us there.”

Phil exits Jacob’s neighborhood and drives away from the beach.

About twenty minutes go by and Phil arrives at a luxury car dealership.

“What do you think Bob?” asks Phil.

Bobby G sees a couple vehicles that interest him and answers, “These are nice. Any one of these will do.”

Phil parks the electric truck near the entrance of the main building of the luxury car dealership.

I look out my window and see the entrance of the main building of the luxury car dealership.

“I see a couple zombies moving through the cars, but the lot looks to be pretty clear,” says Phil.

I see that there are chains and a lock on the glass doors of the luxury car dealership main building as well as boards, metal sheets, and objects blocking the glass from both inside and outside the main building.

I pan to the left and see a group of bullet holes in the cinderblock walls of the main building.

&
nbsp; “Someone might be living here or at least they were.”

“What makes you say that?” asks Lauren.

“The main building is all boarded up.”

“You still want to try here?” asks Phil.

Bobby G replies, “Yeah, I see a nice black SUV right there that I want.”

“Let’s do this the right way. Use your knives, machetes, bats, and quieter weapons.”

I look out the electric truck windows one last time and then open my passenger side door.

I take out my katana and walk towards two zombies.

Lauren exits the electric truck and hops into the truck bed of the electric truck with her bow and arrow.

Bobby G grabs his spear from the truck bed of the electric truck.

Phil takes out his bright neon orange metal baseball bat and approaches a zombie.

  SLICE!

I kill two zombies with my katana.

  SHICK!

Bobby G kills a zombie with his spear.

  SCHHWAFF!

Lauren kills a zombie with an arrow.

  CRUNCH!

A partially crushed zombie head lands on the ground after Phil hits the zombie with his metal baseball bat.

  SCHHWAFF!

Lauren kills the last zombie with an arrow.

“I think that was the last of them!” shouts Lauren from the truck bed of the electric truck.

I scan the luxury car lot and don’t see any more zombies or threats.

  BANG!

A very loud gunshot is heard in the distance.

I take cover against a parked car in the luxury car lot.

Lauren hides in the truck bed of the electric truck.

Phil and Bobby G hide behind two SUV’s in the luxury car lot.

The gunshot wasn’t at us and it was pretty far away.

About a minute goes by, and no other gunshots or sounds are heard.

  “I think it’s safe now!”

“That was a loud shot,” says Lauren as she jumps down from the electric truck.

Bobby G looks at the black SUV that he wants.

Phil checks out the black SUV with Bobby G.

Lauren and I walk over to Phil and Bobby G.

  “Which one do you want?”

Bobby G looks at the black SUV and replies, “I want this one.”

“Let’s go find the keys,” I say to Lauren.

Lauren and I run towards the front entrance of the main building of the luxury car dealership.

“It’s locked,” says Lauren as she pulls on the door handles of the front entrance doors.
