“Well, that works out because next weekend is my track meet in Yakima.” She paused to look down at Mike, “You up for two weekends in a row, babe?”
Mike chuckled, “Always.” Inclining his head to kiss her softly as he said it and then catching sight of his watch.
“However, now I must get home to do some homework.”
Rebecca obligingly slid from his lap so he could stand up and stretch his legs. Once he had he gave them a jovial wave and turned on his heel to walk off of the track. Behind him Rebecca and Joey had bent their heads together to chat longer - they were sitting much closer than they ever had before.

Jacob
Home
It had been a long, interesting, week since Monday and the newest revelation between Rebecca, Joey and Jacob as Michael bothered him. It pained him seeing both Rebecca and Joey in the hallways at school, holding hands, and being unable to go up to them and chat - or kiss either of them.
It wasn’t just seeing them together, he wasn’t jealous, no it was that he had such a secret to keep and didn’t know how to tell them who he was. How could he possibly break the news that Michael was Jacob - Jacob was Michael? No, not yet. Maybe one day that information would find it’s way out into the open, with how much longer the transformations had started to become when he didn’t force them he didn’t doubt that, but it wasn’t that time yet.
As it was, he was preparing for his date with Rebecca - or more accurately Michael’s date with Rebecca - however he had to leave the house to transform so for the time being he was Jacob still. He had decided that he would take her out to an afternoon movie before going to relax and watch the sun set. He liked the romantic angle of the whole idea and he had hoped that she did too.
“Jacob!” his mother called, “What time will you be home from your … what was it you were going to?”
He had told his parents that he was going to hang out with some friends to study and play video games since he could hardly say he was going on a date when that technically wasn’t even true - Michael was, Jacob wasn’t.
“I’m just going to play video games and, hopefully, study a bit at a friend's, Mom,” he replied as he smoothed out his jeans - a little baggy now but they would fit snugger once he changed - and turned and exited the room. He ran, almost literally, into his mom right outside the room. “Oh, sorry, Mom, didn’t see you there. But yeah, I’ll probably be back late.”
In truth, he had done so much studying that week the break would be most welcome. He had his bag on his shoulders, however, it was full not of books but a blanket and a bottle of sparkling wine he’d snagged from the grocery store a couple of days ago.
“Alright, I better be going. See ya, Mom,” he leaned down, even at his smaller size, and gave his mom a peck on the cheek and quickly left the house.”

Michael
Around the corner from Rebecca’s
Some 30 minutes later Michael stood on the corner not far from Rebecca’s, his hands in his pockets. After a deep breath, he crossed the street and walked up to the house to knock on the door. Her father answered the door and Michael held out his hand for the older man to shake, “Hello, sir, my name is Michael Sullivan and I-”
“Yeah, I know who you are, Michael. Come in, Rebecca is nearly ready.” he interjected. Michael nodded and slipped past him to stand in the hall, hands in his pockets, as her father surveyed him. “So, you’re the other boy who's dating my daughter are you? Interesting… triangle you have going on, isn’t it?”
Michael smiled politely thinking, You don’t know the half of it, man. Out loud he remarked, “it’s different I grant you, but we think we can make it work.”
“Hmmph.”
Her father looked like he wanted to say more on the subject but Rebecca had just appeared at his elbow dressed in a simple skirt, similar to her school uniform but shorter and a tank top. “Oh, Dad, be nice. I’m 18, I know what I'm doing.”
“Hmmph,” was all her father could get out before kissing his daughter on the forehead.
She slid an arm through Michael’s, “shall we go catch that movie?”With a backwards glance at her now departing father’s back, he smiled, “you betcha, babe.” She giggled as Michael lead the way out of the house and they began walking down the street. It wasn’t long before they reached the movie theater and Michael was paying for their tickets and snacks. The entire time Rebecca hung off his arm almost wistfully - it was almost bitter sweet the way she cuddled into him to watch the movie. He even kissed the top of her head just as the movie began, a romantic comedy, and settled back to enjoy the movie.
*
Nearly two hours later they were walking out of the theater to late afternoon traffic.
As they walked up the street again, Rebecca hanging off of his arm, she turned her head to look up at him, “so, now what do you have planned?” He chuckled, “you’ll see. Can’t go spoiling all the surprises now, can I?”
She pouted for a moment before shrugging, “yeah, I suppose so.”
He chuckled again as the approached a small park known for its privacy and entered. Michael knew that many teenagers used this park as a place for less honorable pursuits. Michael, however, knew that it was far too early in their relationship for any such activities and so he had scouted out a secluded area with a perfect view of where the sun would be setting.
Once they had reached it, a small clearing surrounded on three sides by trees with a small lead up from the main path and overlooking a small lake, he dropped Rebecca’s arm and slid his backpack from his shoulders to pull out the blanket. After shaking it out and laying it flat on the crest of the small “hill” he set the bag down and offered a hand to Rebecca. She accepted it with a smile, kicking of her flats as she stepped onto it, and sat down with her legs curled underneath of her.
“Well, f this isn’t the most romantic place I have ever seen in my life.” Chuckling, yet again, he lay down on his side propped up by his elbow and facing her. “I’m full of surprises - you’ll see.” Boy, will you ever see. Both you and Joey will. And I hope you both accept me when that day comes. He thought to himself as he stroked the back of her hand with his thumb.
She arched her eyebrows at him as she settled down to lay facing him and stroke his arm softly, "really now? What else could you possibly surprise me with?”
“That, my dear, is for me to surprise you with” he chuckled with a hint of a sly smirk.
“Michael Sullivan, you are an arse.”
Mike laughed harder, “I know. I try.” Rebecca swatted playfully at his chest before pausing to look up into his eyes, swallowing as she seemed to get lost in them. Michael noticed this but he was staring back at her just as hard before he suddenly leaned in and captured her lips in his - kissing her with enough passion that she rolled over onto her back and he leaned over her to continue kissing her.
The kissing didn’t progress any further than that, but the heat rising off of them was intense and very real. For Mike, he had been hoping to kiss Rebecca like this for months - and for Rebecca, she was being treated in a way she had never been treated by someone of the male persuasion. She enjoyed it, just as much as Mike enjoyed kissing her. Soon, however, they broke apart breathing a little harder but still staring into each others eyes.
“That… was better than I ever could have imagined… and I’ve imagined doing just that for ages.”
Rebecca blushed, “Well, you’re not so bad yourself, Sullivan. Just full of surprises and they keep cropping up one by one, more and more.”
“I do aim to please,” he grinned before sitting up and tugging his bag towards him - pulling out the small meal he’d packed.
*
They ate, they laughed, they talked and they kissed some more as they watched the sun set over the sleepy little lake. As soon as it had, they packed up their things and Mike walked her home before returning home himself - and as Jacob.
His date the following weekend with Joey was
just as successful. Only, instead of a movie and watching the sunset - they went to the arcade, and had pizza and general junk food back at Joey’s place since Jacob’s parents were home.
In both instances, a fair amount of kissing and general making out occurred, and in both instances Rebecca and Joey respectively were surprised by Mike’s actions and plans. Mike himself was proud of himself for keeping his secret and managing to surprise, and even shock both of his partners.
Chapter 12: Graduation Day
Jacob
Home - Graduation day
“Jacob Russell! Are you ready yet or not?” Jacob’s mother called up the stairs. Jacob stood in front of his mirror adjusting his grad cap and gown, “Yeah, I’m coming!”
After much ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ over how he had ‘grown up so fast,' they were off to the ceremony. The entire ride Jacob thought about the past few months and had to smile. It had been an interesting and fun couple of months. His relationships each had grown and blossomed, each had a life of their own filled with so much love. The reason that Jacob was nervous was because of the omission of truth he had to tell as to why Michael could not attend the graduation ceremony. He had said the reason, but it sounded empty of meaning when he said it. It left a bad taste in his mouth for having to lie to the two people he loved.
But nonetheless, Jacob was still reminiscing about the past couple of months he had spent increasing amounts of time as Michael. It had been complicated at times to ensure he wasn’t caught by anyone, Rebecca, Joey or his parents, transforming or using his powers in general. But it was worth it and it brought a little smile to his face as he stared out that window.
“Happy to finally be done, Jake my boy?” His father interrupted his thoughts and reminiscing.
“Oh, uh yeah. Totally, dad. Can’t wait to get off to university.”
Jacob and Joey had applied and gotten into the three-year pre-Law program at Harvard; Rebecca had gotten into a program at Hult International Business School, having always wanting to travel, she had chosen Hult because it would greatly increase her chances to excel in international business. Jacob still had to think of a reason why Michael was going to come with them to Massachusetts as well - a decision he was wrestling with because he did not like lying to two of the most important people in his - Michael’s - life.
He had even considered that perhaps it was time to just tell them who he was, as Jacob. To tell them that Jacob was Michael and Michael was Jacob - to show them if need be. However, such a plan had to be done delicately and given his birthday was only weeks away from graduation, that both of them had been planning a surprise for “Michael” for his birthday weekend he thought it best to wait. No need to completely spoil the festivities.
*
Soon enough they had arrived at the location chosen for the school graduation ceremony. As Jacob piled out of the car he adjusted his robes and tucked his cap underneath his arm. The rope’s designating his honor student status and top of class marks hung stiffly around his neck. He swatted away his mother's attempts to straighten anything more or to fuss with his hair which refused to lay the way she wanted, and gave them brief hugs before hurrying off to the graduate's entrance.
After several, long, hours of practice the day before walking into the atrium of the auditorium location to prepare for their entrance was old hat to the class. Once he had entered, and saw that everyone was wearing their caps, he slid it onto his head.
No sooner had he done so and it was flicked, from behind, off of his head by Tyler. Jacob had actually been surprised to see Tyler at the practice the previous night, the fact that he had managed to graduate was actually shocking. However, Jacob had resisted doing much in the way of bugging him about it. Not to say he hadn't used his powers to screw with him a bit - moving his cap around when he set it down, avoiding being put in more than one garbage can - simple little things. When his hat was flicked off of his head he was partially ready for it and managed to slow its descent telekinetically so that he had time to bring his hands up to catch it.
“Ohhhh, good catch, twerp. Oh, lookie, the midget has two cords - soooo special.” Tyler goaded and jabbed at him.
Jacob swatted at his hand as he flicked at the cord’s hanging around his neck, “Yeah well, I’m surprised you even graduated so.” The slightest trace of a smirk crossed his face and he could have sworn his voice sounded more Michael-like for a heartbeat. Joey must have heard it too because Jacob caught him looking at him curiously as if in recognition for a moment. After clearing his throat, he stalked past a stunned Tyler, straightening out the cords around his neck.
As they lined up to make an entrance he found himself able to see Joey through the twisting turning line of graduates before it began to move. Of course, given his last name this was the last moment he caught a glimpse of either of his secret partners until after the long ceremony.
It was a ceremony filled with long winded speeches, tirades of advice and support offerings and finally a hearty congratulations and heavy applause as each graduate crossed the stage. Jacob was secretly glad that he hadn’t been picked as Valedictorian.
*
By the time he was standing outside the auditorium, his cap under his arm and his gown turned in, he was feeling a sense of relief. Relief that it was one less thing he had to worry about, he still had to figure out what to tell Joey and Rebecca as Michael with regards to school since him going to the same school was suspicious but he would figure something out, he was certain of it.
By the time they got home, after fighting traffic, Jacob had thoughts of relaxing and possibly playing some video games to relax. He was not to get that chance.
His parents had planned a huge surprise dinner party, inviting all the family from out of town in to celebrate his graduation. He was toted around the room by various relatives as they relived his academic career and his acceptance to Harvard.
“My boy is going places,” his father had touted at one point, an arm firmly wrapped around Jacob’s shoulders. It wasn’t until near midnight that the last relative left and Jacob was able to escape to his room.
He spent the next week and a half until his birthday alternating between staying home and playing video games and staying out till later then ever to go on dates and hanging out at the diner with Rebecca and Joey.
He kept trying to prod information out of them about his birthday surprise but they weren’t budging.

Michael
The Track - 2 days before
“Awe come on, Joe. Just a teeny, tiny hint pleassseee.” He begged him, tracing a line down his ear softly, just the way he liked.
Joey shivered before batting Michael’s hand away, “No, Mike. it’s two days and trust me it’s worth the wait.”
Michael pouted but finally relented and relaxed backwards to lay his head in Joey’s lap as they watched Rebecca do laps. As they sat there, Joey leaned back on one hand while the other sat over Michael’s shoulder, held loosely by the latter.
“You know… you could just-” Mike began before Joey cut him off by leaning in to kiss him briefly.
“Mike, enough. You’ll see soon enough what we have planned.” Joey repeated sitting back up and looking down at him, brushing some hair off of his forehead.
Mike shrugged, “You know me… impatient as fuck” he grinned innocently up at Joey who rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, I know.”
As they laughed over this notion, Rebecca came jogging over and as she picked up her water bottle she arched her eyebrow at the two boys. “What are you to laughing about?”
“Just Mike’s general impatience. He keeps trying to weasel information of of me about his birthday surprise.”
Flopping down nearby and squirting some water into her mouth, Rebecca rolled her eyes. “You really are, Mike.”
Again Mike shrugged, “Eh, you love me anyways.” He grinned innocently again and dodged a squirt of water from the water bottle that hit Joey instead.

; “Hey! Watch where you're spraying that! This is a brand new shirt.” Joey pouted as he inspected his sleeve for water droplets.
Rebecca laughed, “It’s just water, you’ll dry.”
“Soooo not the point and you know it, Becks.”
Rebecca stuck her tongue out at him and then shrieked as Mike suddenly launched himself at her, tackling her to the ground with a loud, “Hi-ya!” After nuzzling against her cheek for a moment and giving her a quick peck of a kiss he backed off and sat back up. “So, good run?”
Rebecca nodded, “I would say so, yes. I think I’ll be able to get my times down within a few weeks or so.”
Mike nodded as Joey replied, “That’s great, Becks!”
The group spent the next several hours laughing and talking out on the far side of the track until it was getting too dark to really see each other. After bidding each other goodbye they walked together to the diner and went their separate ways to get home.
By the time Michael had changed back into Jacob, half a block from home he was exhausted. The changes between Jacob and Michael and vice versa were really starting to take their toll on his energy level. Not to mention, he was finding it more and more difficult to change back into Jacob. As if the longer the transformative effect was lasting without changing - the harder it was to change. He wondered if some day he wouldn’t be able to make the change back and would be ‘Michael’ for good.
Well, that would solve my problem about what to tell Rebecca and Joey. He thought to himself as he yanked the door open and went inside, calling out that he was home before hurrying up towards bed.
Chapter 13: Birthday Suprises
Jacob
Home - Getting ready
Over the next couple of days Jacob had forced himself to keep from transforming given Rebecca and Joey were busy with whatever it was they had to get ready anyways. He had another reason however, he wanted to save all of his energy for the weekend. He had slept until noon the day after the last time he’d seen his partners and he had decided then that conservation of energy was definitely required.
