“Fuck, I need one too. I have a feeling this is gonna get worse before it gets better,” KJ uttered.

I looked at everyone else and they indicated they wanted one as well. I picked up my phone and dialed Axel.

“Need a cooler of beer brought to my office, Axe.”

  “On my way with it.”

It seemed I had barely had the chance to hang up my phone when there was a knock on the door.

  “It's open,” I said loudly.

  Axel entered holding a cooler.

“Fuck, Axe. Did you already have it ready?”

He grinned at me, “Yeah, figured shit was gonna get intense and that y'all would be needing this pretty soon.”

“Fuck, son. You were right about that. You're doing a damn fine job, keep up the good work,” I told him as he sat the cooler down close to me.

He smiled cockily at me, jerked his chin up and went back out the door, closing it behind him.

“Both those boys are impressive. Hoss and Jessie did a good job raising them,” Viper murmured.

“That they are and, yeah, they did,” I said as I opened the cooler and got us all a beer.

“I take it, we don't know what kind of shape Zoey's in?” KJ asked Karma. Karma shook his head at him. “So it probably wouldn't be worth trying to question her right now?”

Karma shook his head again as he said, “Brother, she has gone somewhere deep inside herself and we still don't know what might have been done to her. Viper put a call in and got a couple docs coming to look at her.”

“Thought you were from Kentucky, how the fuck you know docs down here already?” KJ asked Viper, clearly puzzled.

  “My Old Ladies are pregnant.”

“What the motherfucker isn't telling you is all women seem to love his sorry ass, even his Old Ladies’ doc. I personally don't get it, other than the fact he has washboard abs and that long ass hair that I've overheard some of the women talking about wanting to run their fingers through, can't figure out what else it is that seems to turn women to mush,” I told KJ.

I looked over to see Viper smirking at me like he always seems to be doing. I guess I give him plenty of reasons to do that. He's still a fucker though.

I saw that KJ was wanting to ask about that, but he looked at Karma and held his questions. As I was taking another sip of my beer, my phone rang.

  “Yeah?”

  “Docs are here, Prez.”

“Send them up,” I said and hung up the phone.

“Viper, you want to go introduce the docs to Karma, then he can take them to Zoey. Karma, as soon as they are done with Zoey, I want them back down here, and you as well. I'll need you to give them permission to tell us what they found out.”

Both men acknowledged my request, stood and left.

After the door closed behind them, KJ turned to Reb and Pred and said, “So let me get this straight. You killed eight men.”

  “Yes, sir.”

Once again, they answered at the same time. It was weird how they did that shit. Viper had told me about it, but until you hear it yourself, you just can't believe it. As that thought crossed my mind, Viper walked back into the room and tilted his head at me.

KJ shook his head, “How did you kill the first six outside the barn?”

In unison again, “Slit their throats.”

“And the two in the barn?”

  “Shot them,” they said.

  “You police your brass?”

  “Yes, sir.”

“Good job,” KJ told them as he continued to look at them with a look of disbelief. “You learn all this shit in the Army? If you did, then we need to send fucking Nickel, Prez.”

  “No, sir.”

He looked a little confused at that. “Where the hell did you learn it then?”

Both boys looked at Viper, who was sitting calmly watching his sons be questioned.

“You weren't fucking joking about him were you, Prez?” KJ muttered.

  “Nope, told you so.”

“You've been fucking waiting to say that to me for the past thirty minutes haven't you?” he growled at me. I just laughed at him.

“Well Viper, gotta say, you've raised a couple of really good men. Y'all try to rub off on Nickel, would you? That boy seriously has a screw loose, blaming it on his mother. But I still love the little shit.”

His eyes narrowed at Viper, then he asked, “Reb and Pred are yours, right?”

  Viper inclined his head.

“And you said both your Old Ladies are pregnant.”

  “Yeah.”

I could tell KJ was clearly confused, I hadn't thought to tell him about Viper and his Old Ladies situation.

“So how many fucking Old Ladies have you had?”

  “Just two.”

He looked at Reb and Pred who were quietly snickering.

“Let me help you out, Brother,” I said. “Because I can see it's not adding up for you. Viper's Old Lady, Mia, is Pred's mother. She's pregnant with twins. His other Old Lady, Jennie, is Rebel's mother. She's pregnant with twins as well.”

KJ coughed and exclaimed, “You're fucking bullshitting me, aren't you?”

  We all shook our heads.

“I forgot Nickel said something about Viper having two Old Ladies. Oh fuck, he also told me he wanted to be you when he grew up. Thanks for that, Brother. He doesn't fucking want to be like his dad, but a man who has two Old Ladies. I don't know how you do it, I couldn't even manage one,” he said as a pained expression crossed his face.

“I take it the divorce didn't go well?” I asked him.

“Well, I had to beggar myself, but I fucking got to keep the kids with me.”

“If you need anything, Brother, and I mean anything, you don't hesitate to ask, got me? There's no reason to struggle when you have a family backing you.”

  “I hear you, Dog.”

  “Mean it, you hardheaded asshole.”

KJ sighed, “Yeah, Dog. I know you do, but you know me. That being said, if it gets to where I think I need help, I will ask.”

“Good. Can't ask for more than that,” I replied to him.

I glanced at Reb and Pred. I could tell they were both nervous as hell.

Rebel cleared his throat, “Sir,” he said to KJ. “What's going to happen to us?”

“What the fuck you mean?” KJ asked.

“Well, you are the law and we just confessed to killing eight men.”

“If I had my way, I'd give you a fucking medal, but this needs to be kept on the down low. Dog, we need to figure out where that barn is.”

“Been thinking about that, KJ, I’m pretty sure Noah would know where it might be,” I said as I picked up my phone and called Axel.

  “Yeah, Prez?”

  “Noah in the Great Room?”

  “Yes, sir.”

“Send him back to my office.”

  “Will do.”

We waited until there was a knock on the door. “Come in,” I called out loudly.

Noah opened the door and hesitantly stuck his head around it. I saw that he looked for Karma and when he didn't see him, he looked a little nervous.

“Come on in, son,” I said. “You're not in any trouble, we just need to ask you a few questions, okay?”

He nodded and came into the office.

“Go ahead and take a seat,” I said, then watched as he sat down close to Reb and Pred. Even though he knew KJ and me, I guess they made him feel safe since they had protected him and his sister earlier.

“Noah,” KJ said, “can you remember where the barn is?”

“Yes, sir. It's down Squirrel Hollow Road.”

I could see KJ was thinking like I was, each of us trying to picture where this barn might be.

He looked at Pred and asked, “How far do you think you went down that road?”

“Fuck, not sure. I was too busy trying to stay focused on that van. I knew I couldn't let it out of my sight.”

Reb spoke up, “It fucking seemed like f
orever, but I would say about ten to twelve miles.”

KJ nodded, “Okay, I think I know where you are talking about.” Then he turned back to Noah and asked, “Noah, do you know why your mom wasn't letting you visit your dad?”

Noah bobbed his head vigorously, “Yeah, I was with her one day when she bought some drugs. She didn't realize I could see her until I asked her about it when she got back in the car. I told her I was telling Dad, and she started yelling at me and said that I wouldn't be allowed to see Dad again or talk to him.

“Mom took away Zoey’s phone so we couldn’t call Dad, I tried to get Chloe to let me use her phone, but she told me no. She knows I’ve seen her doing drugs with Mom and is afraid that I’ll tell Dad.

“It's all my fault Zoey's hurt, if I'd only used someone else's phone and let Dad know, he would have come then to get us. I'm sorry.” Then the poor kid burst out crying.

Rebel reached out, picked him up and sat him in his lap, hugging him close to him.

“Shhh,” we all heard him whisper. “It's not your fault, Noah. It's your mom's fault for trying to keep you away from your dad. Don't put the blame on yourself.” Then he started rocking Noah as he held him tight.

“Noah,” KJ spoke up. “Reb is right. This is not your fault. You got me? A ten-year-old isn't supposed to have to deal with this type of shit.”

A knock sounded on the door, “Hold up a minute,” I hollered out. I looked at KJ and spoke, “Brother, that's probably Karma with the docs. Do you want to leave? If so, we need to get you out now.”

He looked at Viper, “Do you trust the docs not to say anything?”

Viper said, “Yeah, I trust Doc Adams. Before I would even explain the situation to her, I told her that she had to agree not to say anything about what she sees or hears. Told her if she wouldn't agree to that then I could go no further in asking for her help. I think we can trust her, Brother. But gotta admit, I don’t really know her partner.”

KJ’s forehead wrinkled as he thought over Viper’s words. “Let’s approach this delicately and see how it goes.”

“Karma, come in,” I hollered out again. “Noah, go on back out to the Great Room, and thanks for your help.” I watched as he got up, ran to Karma for a quick hug then made his way out the door.

After Noah walked out, Karma held the door open as two attractive women entered the room.

“Ladies, have a seat,” I said, indicating the vacant chairs.

Karma walked around and sat back down beside Viper. By the look on his face, I knew the news wasn't what I had hoped it would be.

Once the doctors were seated, Viper spoke up, “Doc Adams, Doc Jones, I'd like you to meet Mad Dog, he's the President of the MC, next to him is Sheriff James, to the left of the sheriff are my sons, Predator and Rebel.”

After all the introductions were out of the way, I spoke up, “Need to ask both you docs to keep anything you hear in this room to yourself. If you can't do that, then we'll simply ask you our questions and let you go on your way.”

“As I told Viper, I don't have a problem keeping this quiet. My main concern is for Zoey getting the help she needs,” Doc Adams stated.

“I agree with Suzie, Dr. Adams, that is, plus the sheriff is here so I know it will be reported,” Doc Jones said.

There was silence at her statement and both the doctors looked at each other then at KJ.

“Ladies, this isn't being reported. It will be handled outside the law,” he replied to them.

I could see a frown cross Doc Jones's face, but it seemed the good Doc Adams didn't have a problem with what she had heard.

KJ spoke back up, “Dr. Jones, if you have a problem with that, maybe you need to go ahead and step out of the room now.”

I could see the struggle cross her face, I glanced at KJ to see him studying the doctor. She sighed and finally said, “Fine, I won't say anything.”

KJ looked at me and I shook my head. “Sorry to ask this of you, but I need you to sign a non-disclosure statement. I have to protect the people of the MC and protect Sheriff James as well. If you don't want to do that, I need you both to leave now. We'll get Karma to tell us what's going on.”

“That's fine,” Doc Adams said. “I have no problem signing it.”

Doc Jones sighed heavily but said, “Yeah, I'll sign one.”

I picked up my phone and called Seer. As soon as he answered, I said, “Need you to bring two non-disclosure statements to my office and your stamp.”

“In the Great Room, give me five.”

“It will take Seer a couple of minutes, would either of you care for a beer?”

Both nodded yes, so I passed out beers to everyone. As I looked at Reb and Pred, I could tell they were about past going.

“Reb, Pred, why don't the both of you go ahead and go get some shuteye.” My suggestion was met with shakes of their heads.

“Rather know all of this, Prez. Won't be able to sleep till I do,” Reb said.

  “Same,” Pred commented.

I raised my chin at them, I could understand where they were coming from. They were concerned about Zoey, I'm sure the thought had crossed both their minds that she was pretty close to the same age Jemma is. A knock sounded on the door, “Enter,” I spoke out. Seer came in with the papers and his stamp.

“Seer, need you to let the docs read those disclosures, then if they are still in agreement, I need you to do your thing with the signatures.”

  “Gotcha, Prez,” he replied.

I watched as each of the docs read the non-disclosure statements. They were both reading them thoroughly. Got to hand it to them, they were smart not to sign something blindly without knowing what was on the paper. A lot of people would have just signed it.

“I'm fine signing this,” Doc Adams said.

“Yeah, me too,” added Doc Jones.

Seer checked their ID’s, then did his magic and soon we were ready to go.

“Need me for anything else, Prez?”

  “Possum still out?”

  “Yeah,”

“Nah, that's all I needed, Seer. Thanks.”

  “No prob, Prez.”

KJ looked at Karma, “You agree with letting us ask the doctors some questions about their medical diagnosis of Zoey?”

  “Yeah KJ, that's fine.”

“Who did the examination of Zoey?”

“I did,” spoke up Doc Adams.

  “What did you find?”

“Well, she took a beating. Her face had been hit multiple times. She was punched in the ribs and stomach several times as well.” She paused, ran her hands down her face and took a deep breath.

“She had bruises already showing up on her inner thighs where it appeared someone had held them open and there was blood as well. She was raped. We took some swabs that we will need to send to a lab to make sure she didn't contract anything. We will have test results on a couple of the STDs tomorrow, but the majority can take anywhere from one week to three weeks to show up. We will need to run another blood test in a week. We will have the DNA run as well.”

“Is there a chance for pregnancy, Dr. Adams?” KJ asked.

I watched as Karma’s entire body started shaking. Fuck this was bad. I was afraid he was going to go off the deep end.

“There’s always that possibility. We did however manage to get Zoey to tell us that it was almost time for her period to start. So the likelihood is dramatically lowered, but we will need to keep a close watch on that.”

Karma choked on a sob and ground out harshly, “That god damn bitch is going to die slowly at my hands. She'll be praying for death before I'm through with her.”

There was nothing to say to that, we all agreed with him. I looked at the docs to see confusion and a little fear in their faces.

“No need to run the DNA. Just make sure she doesn't have anything, Dr. Adams,” KJ said to her.

“But you need the DNA processed in order to catch the man,” Doc Jones exclaimed.

  “That will not
be an issue, Dr. Jones,” KJ replied.

“You're not even gonna try to find the man? Is he a member or something and you're trying to cover it up?” she spit out.

“Honey, you agreed to keep your opinions to yourself. If I had known you were going to act like this, I wouldn't have let you come with me,” Doc Adams said as she glared at her friend.

“That was uncalled for Dr. Jones,” Viper commented. He looked at Doc Adams and said, “I agree, it might not have been a good idea to bring your friend if all she is going to do is question our motives in keeping this quiet.”

Damn, we all heard the rebuke in his tone of voice.

“So you are trying to cover something up,” she sneered.

Karma stood up fast, sending his chair flipping over in the process. He slammed his fists down on the table in front of the doctor and growled out, “Listen, bitch, get off your god damn fucking high horse. We aren't covering up for some Brother. We don't fucking work that way at this MC. My whoring ex traded Zoey for drugs last night and those two young men you see sitting at this table, saved her from a fate worse than death. The reason we don't need DNA is because the bastard is already dead.”

Well fuck, so much for not telling them everything, I thought. I watched as Karma dropped his head realizing what he had done as soon as the last word left his mouth.

“Fuck. Prez, Brothers, I'm sorry. I'm so fucking mad right now, I blew my top and spoke without thinking.”

“Hell, Brother. You're handling this shit better than I would. It's understandable,” I replied to him as he righted his chair and sat back down. I looked over to see the shock and horror on both the doctor’s faces.

“Her mother let someone do this to her?” Doc Jones whispered.

Karma sighed heavily, “Yeah, she did.”

Doc Jones let out a sob, “I'm so very sorry, I apologize to all of you. I was terribly out of line when I spoke.” Tears poured down her face as she cried quietly.

“So the bastard who did this is dead?” Doc Adams asked.

“Yes, he is.” Karma answered her question.

“And you're completely sure he is dead?”

“Yes, ma'am,” Reb said. “Made sure of that myself.”

She nodded at him, “Good. Fucker needed killing.”

We all blinked at her, then smiled. She was the kind of woman this MC needed.
