“Yes. Fuck me Phil,” she screamed.
He grabbed her waist and drilled into her now dripping pussy. Jamie tightened around his throbbing cock. She met his every thrust with enthusiasm. Every time Jamie thought he was going to climax he flipped her into another position. His aggression brought out her own. Somehow they ended up from the couch to the floor and Jamie mounted him. She rode Phil alternating from fast to slow.
Their bodies were slick from sweat and their breathing was heavy. Jamie felt herself explode onto his cock, she arched her back and stopped riding him, instead staying still reveling in the feeling. Phil grabbed her hips and thrust upward bringing her to even greater bliss. She moaned his name over and over. A moment later she felt him release deep inside of her. They lay side by side catching their breath. It was only a short while later that Phil scooped her up and carried her to the bedroom.
Phil had asked for casual and Jamie had agreed. So it wasn’t a surprise to her that he left several hours later with a kiss goodbye. She didn’t want to ask him when she would see him again but he answered her question when he invited her to go for dinner the next day. Jamie lay in her bed glowing in the aftermath of their lovemaking. Her body was sore in a good way. Phil had made her reach orgasm several times, she was still tingling from his touch. She fell asleep with a smile on her face only a short while after. Phil had worn her out, she thought before she had drifted off to sleep.
They never made it to the restaurant the next night. Jamie had shown up at Phil’s house and ended up spending the entire weekend with him. They spent the whole time having sex, all over his house. They couldn’t keep their hands off one another. Jamie could get used to this, lying in bed with Phil, wearing his t-shirt, but then she remembered he didn’t want anything serious. She had told him she was okay with that so she told herself it was simply a diversion, something fun while she was in L.A. So Jamie vowed to keep her feelings in check. She didn’t want there to be any awkwardness between them, it was about simply enjoying the time they spent together. For the next two weeks Jamie and Phil played the game. At the office they were as professional as could be. She was Miss Redding and he was Mr. Steele. Then when the workday was over, so were all the pretenses.
She was in her office going over some paperwork when there was a knock on her door. Jamie looked up in anticipation. Phil and she were supposed to go over some paperwork. She was excited to see him after their tryst last night. He had left her breathless and wanting more. When he left, Jamie had masturbated in the shower thinking about him though they had just had sex.
“Hello big sister,” he said.
“James, what are you doing here?” Jamie asked shocked.
“I came to see what you were up to,” he said smiling.
“Did father send you here?” Jamie asked.
“Of course he did,” James drawled taking a seat on Jamie’s couch arrogantly.
“Well you can tell him that I am fine. Your presence in neither wanted nor warranted here,” Jamie said impatiently.
“Relax Jamie. He didn’t send me here. I’m here on a business meeting.”
“A business meeting? With who?” Jamie questioned.
“Philip Steele,” James replied.
“Philip Steele? What for?” Jamie spluttered.
At that moment there was another knock at her door.
“Does your secretary normally let people barge in on you without warning?” James asked.
“Come in,” Jamie said frustrated.
Phil walked in smiling until he noticed Jamie was not alone.
“Mr. Steele. This is my brother James. I believe you have a meeting with him today?” Jamie said looking intently at Phil.
“Yes. Hello. We’ve met. We worked together in New York. I wasn’t expecting you until later.” Phil said stretching his hand out to James.
“Jamie can we use your office?” James asked.
Jamie glared at her younger brother but Phil stepped in.
“There’s no need Mr. Wright. My office is just down the hall.”
“We’ll talk later,” James called out to Jamie before following Phil out the door.
Jamie was livid.
“Jamie,” James said sometime later. “Will you have a late lunch with me before I leave?” he asked.
The invitation was very uncharacteristic of James and she didn’t want to be a bitch so she agreed. James, as opulent as ever, had reserved the entire third floor of a famous steak house. The chef had prepared something special for them and their food was brought out right away. James was unusually quiet, only making small talk about the food.
“Jamie, can I ask you something?” he said suddenly.
“I suppose,” she responded.
“Do you really want to run the company?” he questioned.
“You know I do,” she stated.
“What do you think our father wants?”
Jamie chewed slowly while she was thinking about her answer.
“I would imagine he would want his namesake to take over where he left off. I’m sure dad wants you to make partner and eventually take over his position of CEO.”
“And…and how do you feel about that?” he asked intently.
“Obviously James, I’m not hiding the fact, I plan to take my rightful spot as the eldest Wright,” she stated simply.
James nodded and took a bite of his steak.
They didn’t talk much after that. He left on the company’s private jet right after lunch. Jamie had seen him off and was secretly happy to see him go. He didn’t mention what his meeting was about and Jamie did not want to appear too interested.
By the time she arrived home, Callie was out again, probably with Kale and Jamie poured herself a drink. She had had a long day and she needed to unwind. She wondered what James was really doing here so she decided to call her father.
He answered on her third call.
“Jamie. You have heard of voicemail haven’t you?” he asked.
“I needed to speak with you,” Jamie fumed.
“We spoke yesterday. What’s wrong?” he questioned.
“Father, why was James here? Did you send him to come check on me?”
“James was in L.A.?”
“You were not aware?”
“No. He was supposed to be in Austin on business,” he said slowly.
“That’s strange. He had a meeting with Philip Steele,” Jamie said confused.
“He met with Philip Steele? That is interesting,” James stated.
“So you didn’t know anything about his business meeting here in L.A.?” Jamie accused.
“I did not.”
“Then why do you think he was here?” she asked.
“Jamie I will call you later,” he stated simply before hanging up.
Jamie knew she was being dismissed. She tossed her phone on the counter in frustration. Her father obviously had no idea that James was in Los Angeles. What the hell was he up to? The doorbell ringing startled her. Jamie walked over to the door. It was Phil. He tried to kiss her but Jamie didn’t kiss him back.
“What’s wrong Jamie?” he asked.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you had a meeting with James?” she asked her arms crossed.
“He only called and asked for the meeting this morning,” Phil replied.
“What did he want?” Jamie asked.
“Jamie you know I can’t discuss that. I have a confidentiality clause,” Phil said patiently.
“Are you serious Philip? I’ve told you all about James, how he wants to steal the company from me,” she spat.
“Jamie. This is his legacy as much as it is yours.”
“How can you say that? You know how much I want this. How hard I’ve worked for this.”
“I know. And this wasn’t about that Jamie. Just trust me. Please.”
“Fine,” she said her arms still crossed.
“Come here.”
Phil kissed Jamie on her forehead and she relaxed instantly. They
made love shortly afterwards and Jamie felt herself getting sad the later it got, wondering if he would leave or spend the night. She really wanted him to stay but didn’t want to appear needy. Jamie was lazily tracing circles on his stomach with her finger when Phil spoke up.
“Do you want me to spend the night?” he asked suddenly.
“Sure. If you’d like,” she said nonchalantly, although she felt giddy.
He kissed her forehead again and Jamie felt at peace laying in his arms as she slowly wafted off to sleep.
Chapter 5
Things were progressing along nicely, she had been seeing Phil for almost a month and though he insisted he didn’t want anything serious, they still spent most of their time together. Jamie wasn’t ready for anything serious either. Though she let her guard down and opened up to Phil, she still was coming to terms with being single after two years. It had nothing to do with her feelings for her ex-boyfriend either. Jamie was completely over Steven at this point and had called a company to remove her things from their shared apartment into Callie’s loft that she kept in the city. The day the mover’s showed up, Steven had called her to argue, to plead but Jamie didn’t want to be bothered. Something in her had broken.
She was pleased with her situation in Los Angeles overall. She dived back into work, securing several commercial properties in the city that even impressed her father and she was having fun with Phil.
Callie seemed to be flourishing in L.A. as well and Jamie was glad that she invited her to come and stay. She seemed to be happier than she had been in a long time and Jamie was happy for her. She thought that although Callie denied it, something serious was blossoming between her and Kale. She had found her reading the other night. Not that Callie wasn’t smart because she was, it was just that the perception of others never bothered her before. Jamie didn’t point these things out of course but she was aware.
And then a week later Jamie ran into a complication she did not foresee. Callie had complained that Jamie had not been spending enough time with her lately and insisted that she come out with her. She tried to argue that Callie had also been spending most of her time with Kale but instead of helping make her point, it only made Callie that more insistent.
“Exactly Jam. We need a girl’s day and night out. I canceled my date tomorrow night and asked Kale to meet me later,” she said.
“Callie,” Jamie protested.
“Please Jam,” Callie begged.
She finally gave in. Somehow she could never say no to her best friend when she begged her to do something. So the next day she skipped work and informed Phil that she would try to see him later if possible but she might have to postpone it until the next day. He didn’t seem to mind her canceling their plans and Jamie was secretly a little annoyed. She was hoping that he would have sounded a bit more disappointed than he did.
She and Callie spent the day shopping at all the upscale boutiques in Beverly Hills. Normally Jamie didn’t splurge as much as Callie did but it was nice to have a fun girl’s day out.
Later they had a nice lunch at Greenleaf, one of Jamie’s favorite places. The funny thing was the food tasted different to her. It was supposed to be upscale but it lacked the flavor of the mom and pop places that she and Phil were having fun discovering. He had finally conceded and allowed Jamie to pay for some of their dates after her constant protests. So Jamie took full advantage of it by ordering multiple dishes so that they could taste a little of everything. Somehow Greenleaf had lost its appeal.
“I really should have taken you to Blue Roof Tavern,” Jamie said.
“Blue Roof Tavern? Is that Chef Denali’s new restaurant?” Callie asked.
“No. It’s this place Phil and I found on 3rd street. The risotto is ten times better than here,” Jamie said.
Callie let out a hearty laugh.
“No. I’m serious. You would love it.”
“It’s not that. You are sort of like a food snob now,” Callie said joking.
Jamie couldn’t help but smile. The wine was still excellent though, one thing that was missing at some of the places they visited. Callie had found the perfect little black dress and she insisted that she and Jamie go out clubbing later that night. Jamie was about to protest until Callie pulled an exquisite black dress for Jamie to wear. She fell in love with it instantly.
“This dress is absolutely beautiful,” Jamie said.
“You do know that is one of mine right?” Callie asked bashfully.
“One of yours?” she questioned.
Callie showed her the label and sure enough it was from Callie’s mother’s design house.
“You designed this?” Jamie asked astounded.
“Yeah,” Callie said blushing. “Don’t act so shocked.”
“I’m not. It’s just, wow Cal. This is so good,” Jamie enthused.
They spent the rest of the night getting ready. Callie helped Jamie apply her makeup. Jamie wore her hair up in an elegant up-do.
“You know we might be overdressed for a club right?” Jamie asked.
“Of course we’re not,” Callie insisted.
When they arrived, Jamie pointed out that indeed they were overdressed but Callie shushed her. They had a fun time dancing but when Kale arrived around one Jamie was secretly relieved. Around two she was just leaving the club, Kale and Callie had decided to stay a little longer but seeing that she was in capable hands, Jamie didn’t feel guilty about leaving her best friend. She was heading to her car, thinking about calling Phil but wondering if it was too late when she felt a hand on her arm. Her first instinct was to scream but a hand clamped over her mouth silencing her.
“Relax. Stop screaming. It’s just me,” a voice said near her ear.
Jamie spun around and came face to face with Ben.
“You,” she said.
“Me,” he replied.
“You scared the hell out of me,” she said shaking.
“I’m sorry,” he said grinning at her.
“It’s not funny. You could have just called out to me,” Jamie said shaking her head, still shaken.
“I did. You didn’t hear me,” he said.
Jamie peered up at him. But goodness the man was fine. He just exuded masculinity. She touched her mouth remembering his kiss. She had wanted to see him again, and she admitted reluctantly that even though she had been seeing Phil she still thought of Ben occasionally. Standing here in front of her, all the raw sexual tension from their last encounter returned and hit her square in the stomach.
“You really need to learn boundaries,” she said sarcastically.
“Okay I’m sorry. Can we start over? I’m Ben McCabe,” he asked sticking his hand out.
Not as reluctant as she made it seem she accepted his hand shake.
“Jamie. Jamie Redding,” she said.
“Nice to meet you Jamie. Do you want to get out of here and grab something to eat?” he asked confidently.
“It’s two in the morning,” she reminded him.
“Are you single?” he asked.
“I’m…Yes. But what does that have anything to do with it?” Jamie asked after a moment thinking that her and Phil weren’t exactly dating. Which made her in fact, single.
“Well, here’s the thing Jamie Redding. I’ve been thinking about you for the past few weeks and now that I have you here in front of me I’m not going to let the opportunity pass me by again,” Ben stated.
“I’m not looking for anything serious,” Jamie said blushing as she echoed Phil’s words.
“Neither am I but we’re adults. I’m young, healthy, drug and disease free. What else is stopping us right now?” Ben asked.
“Yes. I can say the same but that’s beside the point. You don’t even know me.”
“So let’s go get to know one another Jamie. Nothing serious,” Ben said.
‘We can’t just… I don’t even…this is insane. It’s two o’clock in the morning,” she repeated.
“I don’t know you but I remember what
your lips taste like. And I know that I want to know what the rest of you tastes like,” he said leaning closer to her.
“Boundaries,” Jamie said but couldn’t suppress her smile.
“I can do boundaries. So do you want to go grab a bite with me?” he asked.
Jamie swallowed. She bit her lip remembering their kiss again.
“Let’s get out of here,” he said again, his eyes twinkling.
“Ben I…” Jamie said.
But Jamie’s words were cut short by Ben kissing her again. He tasted faintly of peppermint. Jamie didn’t know what was wrong with her because suddenly she was kissing Ben back.
“Let’s go,” he said grabbing her hand
She nodded. Ben took her keys and opened the car door for her. Jamie slid into the passenger seat.
“I’ll get my car tomorrow,” he said.
They found an open diner and ordered breakfast.
“So Jamie Redding,” Ben began, “Tell me about yourself.”
“What do you want to know?” Jamie asked.
“How old are you?”
“You know you’re never supposed to ask a lady that,” Jamie laughed, “but I’m thirty. You?”
“I just turned twenty-eight. What do you do?”
“I work for Wright Realty. I’m a broker,” she stated.
“Impressive. I’m an accountant,” Ben said.
“No really what do you do?”
“Really, I am an accountant. I work for a small firm.”
“You don’t look like any accountant I ever met, or imagined,” Jamie said lightheartedly.
“My dad is an accountant. It’s his firm,” he replied. “I get certain…allowances.”
They were having a great conversation. Ben was smart and funny. Jamie had underestimated him. It was getting late, nearly four in the morning.
“And what do you do for fun?” she asked as they were heading back to her car. “Besides kissing strangers in bathrooms?”
“That was a special circumstance,” Ben said grinning. “I like the outdoors. I hike, rock climb. Surf.”
